Girl falls into One Piece

Chapter 24

I woke up with a groan, head throbbing. I rubbed my face and yawned, wincing at the stiff muscles. I was about to sit up, but then was stopped at a voice. "Stay down, girl." I jumped a little and looked around. My eyes went to this old lady with long silver hair, old looking face; strong body and purple leather pants along with mid drift shirt and jacket.

I frowned at her. "Hey, wha-who are you, old lady?" She scowled and before I could do anything, she slammed her foot on my head, making me groan and see stars.

I sat straight up and clutched the bump on my already aching head. "AH! What the hell did you do that for?!"

She laughed at me. "Learn your manners, girl! I'm not over 130 years old!" I blanched, staring at her, but just nodded. I didn't want to get hit again. I looked at my hands to see the bandages still covering both my whole hands, some on my arms and I could feel the tightness on my legs and chest, showing bandages were there too.

I shifted and asked her. "Where's my friends?"

She smirked at me. "The girl was sick with fever from a bug bie, she would have died a couple of days later. The blond haired boy had a fractured spine and the strawhat is deal with the same as you, minus the extra bandages. They are all in different rooms."

I stared in shock. "Nami was that close?!" She nodded and I frowned at the amused look she gave me. A crash sounded and she rolled her eyes, drinking from the bottle I didn't know she had and walking out, laughing like a hyena.

She is almost as weird as Grandpa! I shivered and looked around for my boots. I found them near the corner of my bed and swung my feet away and to the side. I threw my boots on and laced them up, pulling the pants over them.

I stood up, hunching slightly at the pain. "D-damn." I walked a little bit until the pain was just numb and walked to the door. I rubbed a hand through my hair. It felt weird and scratchy because of the bandages. I opened the door and looked both ways. My eyes widened in shock and I shivered. It was cold and snowy inside this big building. I cringed at another crash and I heard Nami's voice! I opened the door and grinned when I saw her. "Hey! Nami!"

She looked shocked to see me. "Mace?!" I nodded and walked closer.

I heard a voice say. "What did I say…" A foot slammed into my head, feeling my eyes go white with pain as I crashed to the floor. "…about staying in bed, girl!" I groaned in pain and rolled on my back, rubbing the bump.

Nami cried. "Mace?! You okay?!"

I smirked as I sat on the bed. "Huh? Yeah, you've hit me worse before." She smiled back and then glared.

I rubbed the back of my neck. "Sheesh, everyone's out to get me today!"

The old hag glared at me. "You're supposed to be resting."

I rolled my eyes. "Calm down…I'm fine!" I don't want to be hit by this lady again! I heard yelling outside the room and cocked my head to the side. "Is that Luffy…and Sanji?"

Nami shook her head, smiling. "Yeah, it's them." I sagged in relief, I knew they would be fine, hearing them is just better. I looked at Nami and saw her face a little red or more pinkish, but other than that she was fine. I yawned slightly, still a little tired.

I heard Luffy voice scream. "Get back here meat!"

Sanji yelled. "Luffy, don't eat him yet!"

The old hag smiled. "His name is Chopper."

I looked at the old lady and Nami confused. The old lady was taking a swig of her drink. "Who's Chopper?"

The old lady answered me. "The reindeer that treated you!" I shrugged and stood up, running outside where I heard Sanji and Luffy. Before I left, I stopped by the door and smiled at Nami. "I'm happy you're better now."

She smiled back at me, a look I didn't recognize aimed at me. "Thank you, my heart's still beating after all."

I felt myself redden. "When are you going to forget that?"

She gave me a devious smirk that made me nervous. "Sure, anytime…just give me 100,000 berries."

My eyes widened and I scowled.

"You money grubbing witch!" I slammed the door and walked off, shivering again.

I then heard a scream. "I'M NOT FOOD FOR YOU, OKAY?!"

My eyes widened and I slammed against the door in shock, my ears ringing. I placed my hand on the hilt of my-where the hell is my sword?! I patted my leg a couple of times and panicked. "AH MY SWORD!" I ran back in there and the old lady and Nami stopped talking. I said. "Where is it? Where is it? Where is it? Where is-."

Nami snapped. "Calm down, Mace! Where is what?"

I narrowed my eyes at the old lady. "Hey! Old hag, where is my sword?!" I scowled at her, my arms stretching slightly with the bandages as I crossed them over my chest.

Nami sighed. "She never learns."

I spun around to yell at her, but then I once again met the floor and groaned in pain, ow! I rolled on my back, is this what death feels like? The old lady was in front of me, taking a swig of her drink. "Quiet girl! It's on the room you stayed in." I jumped up, ran out the door and snatched open the door to my original room and ran to the bed, my sword beside it.

I picked it up and unsheathed in across my hands, feeling relief staring at the blade. I closed the sheath over the gleaming metal. I strapped it to my left hip and found a jacket on the floor. Grinning to myself, I put it on and zipped it up. I opened the door and walked around, not through Nami's door this time. I felt and heard the snow crunch under my boots. I walked around, hoping I run into Sanji and Luffy. No luck yet.

After wandering around for a while. I heard Luffy's voice. I grinned and walked through the door…just to find out I ended up back in Nami's room. I sighed and saw food laid out. My stomach decided to growl and Luffy turned to grin at me. "Mace! You're here!"

I grinned back at him. "Yeah, I'm good." Sanji was shirtless except for the bandages around his whole torso. I sat between them, grabbing a leg of what looked like fried chicken and took a huge bite, dodging Luffy's hands. His eyes were on me though, every little bit he would stare at me or my hands.

He then asked the old lady across from us. "Hey, you need to join my crew, old lady! We need a doctor on board!" I cringed, he done it now…

She pointed at him. "Hey, Luffy is it? You did tell me that was your name; you did tell me that right?" At Luffy nod, she continued. "Did you just call me old lady?" He agreed and I winced as she kicked him into the wall screaming. "If I were you I would be more careful about what I say!"

I paled and shook my head, mumbling. "She cannot join the crew." With that statement, I finished off the chicken leg. I grabbed a drink off the table and drank that. I almost spit it out, it was tea! I don't like tea, too boring tasting to me. But it was hot, so I'll deal with it. She said she was still not over her 130's. I shook my head with a sigh.

Sanji was amused. "You're a tough, old hag." I flinched as she kicked him in the wall. Isn't she supposed to be a doctor?!

Luffy came back. "Those are lame excuses! It's all about adventure, old lady!" I slapped a bandage covered hand to my face and slowly shook my head. Damn, Luffy…

Sanji and Luffy were staring at something. I looked to see the reindeer from before. That must be Chopper. He had light brown and dark brown fur with antlers and a red hat. I blinked and raised my hand. "Uh, hey-"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Chopper screamed as he ran off, Luffy and Sanji right after him. I rubbed my eyes and sighed, looking behind me as Nami stayed asleep and the old lady ran after them. I leaned my head against the bed and closed my eyes. They snapped open when Chopper was screaming and Luffy and Sanji came in.

The old lady said. "Oh no you don't!" I stared at all of them. I could tell Luffy wanted to eat him, but what does Sanji have to do with this and I couldn't eat him, he can talk. That's like naming a fish or a chicken before you chop their heads off. The old lady chased after them and I stared and just laughed. I sunk lower with my arms across my chest and chin against it, falling asleep.

I woke up to being under a pillow and bed again, the room warm and my arms free. I tiredly curled into the blanket. I reluctantly woke up, throwing on my boots and lacing them again, my coat and zipping it on and clipping my sword to my side. I decided to check on Nami. I walked in and the old lady and Nami were talking again. I asked. "What are you guys on to now"?

Nami jumped a little and replied. "Kureha was telling me about Chopper's past."

I raised an eyebrow and walked back toward the door. "Nah, I'll just leave then."

Kureha asked. "You don't want to hear it." It was not a question.

I shook my head. "No, Chopper's a cool gu-reindeer so far, I'm guessing he's the one that brought me to bed?" At Kureha's smirk, I went on. "So his past is not needed to know. If he wants to tell me, then that's fine. I said the same to your sister, Nami. I don't care." Nami stared at me shocked and then Kureha gave a long hyena laugh as I left. I hear Luffy scream and I ran down the railing and jumped over where Luffy and Sanji were.

The ground was smashed in. Luffy saw me, his grin widened and his eyes brightened and before I could protect, he grabbed my arms and launched himself at me, making us tumble in the snow. "I want the reindeer on my crew, he's a cool monster!" I grinned at him and ruffled his hair. Pushing him off me, I sat up. Luffy just laughed and fix his hat on his head.

Sanji came over and kicked Luffy in the head, making his head bounce in place. "You shitty rubber! Mace darling, are you okay?" I nodded at him. I'm not even going to say anything.

I asked Luffy. "Do you know how you're going to do that?"

He looked at me blankly and shrugged with another laugh. "Shishishi! No idea!" I grinned and shook my head, typical answer from him. I stood up and pulled him up with me. I brushed off the snow and shivered, the wind biting through me.

I asked. "Why didn't you close the door?"

Sanji was the one that answered me. "The reindeer was the one that wanted it open. If we close it, the baby birds on the ledge will die." I looked up and saw he was right. On the ledge of the giant door, a small nest with a couple of baby birds were chirping and resting. These doors were huge and there were two of them. I then realized this place was some kind of castle. I feel so stupid!

Luffy then grinned widely at me and ran off laughing all the way. I shrugged, let him have his fun.

Sanji sighed, lighting a cigarette. "Man, he never stops."

I chuckled, smiling fondly at my retreating brother. "Huh, I guess he never does." Sanji gives me a bright smile. My back was starting to ache a little. Must be from the Lapin slash I got. I have a lot of slashing from animals on my back. First the bear and now the Lapin. I shrugged and waved Sanji off, walking away.

I ran a hand through my hair, scrunching my nose at the greasy feel to it. When we get back on the boat, I'll clean up. Not here, where I don't know what will happen. How awkward would that be, to be sitting in a tub and a fight to break out. I snickered to myself just thinking about it. I was just walking around the cold castle, lost in my thoughts.

I heard screaming and looked to see myself in front of Nami's room…again. Seriously?

I walked in and laughed, holding my stomach and leaning against the wall. "What the-?" I snorted and laughed harder, feeling my chest heave. Luffy was chasing Chopper around Kureha, saying he was going to be his friend and Nakama. I shrugged; he can do what he wants. Sanji was there too with food in his hand. Nami was sitting in bed. Nami waved at me and I grabbed a chair, sitting down.

I heard Kureha say. "Friend, huh? If only he knew what friend means to him, poor guy."

I snorted. "You don't know what Luffy knows." They all stared at me, but I looked away, ignoring them. I scratched my stomach, grimacing at the feel of tight bandages on me. I reached for the flap under my shirt and jerked, loosening them.

Chopper screamed. "AH! What are you doing?!"

I blinked and looked at him, surprised at the outburst. "What'cha mean?" He must have lost Luffy because I didn't hear him anywhere.

Chopper looked furious or as furious as he could look. "You can't do that! Sit down!" I raised my eyebrow at the reindeer.

Nami gave a couple of small laughs and then sighed. "Mace, just sit."

I scowled slightly at her. "But Nami-."

"Now." Her voice was stern and I gave her a strained smile, huffing and sitting in a chair. Chopper came over to me and lifted my shirt, all serious now and reached around me to tighten my bandages, I clenched my jaw so I didn't say anything. He finished and I poked one.

I smiled. "Hey, you pretty good at that."

Chopper froze and then a grin split his face. "Shut up, saying that won't make me happy, moron!" While he said this, he did this funny dance, wiggling from side to side; I grinned and laughed, holding my side. He glared about to say something when…

"HEY REINDEER! BE MY NAKAMA!" I grinned at Luffy's voice, so he was coming back this way.

Chopper glared the way my brother's voice was coming from. I smiled at Chopper. "You know, he's right. Being our Nakama would be cool! Living like a pirate is fun and exciting!" Nami eyes were bright, looks like she agrees with me too.

Chopper glared at me, angrier than before. "What?! I told him I won't become a pirate, human!"

I blinked, a bit surprised at how angry he was being. "Really you don't wanna sail under the jolly roger, the definition of freedom?"

Chopper froze as he stared at me. "…Jolly Roger…" I noticed a look in his eyes, almost like longing. I figured he wanted to do something like what I said.

I did the one thing I can do when I'm in a situation with talking, I was blunt. "You're an idiot, you know that?"

Nami snapped. "Mace!" I shrugged and Chopper's head snapped up to stay at me, eyes wide in shock.

I tightened my lips, neither smiling nor scowling. "If you wanna do something do it, don't hold yourself back and wait, you'll regret it. Life is too short to regret things." Nami said my name again, but it was softer, not angry.

Kureha laughed sharply. "Is that so? No regrets?"

I grinned at her. "That's right." She grinned/smirked, taking a large gulp of her bottle. We were so in our conversation, we didn't hear a pair of sandaled feet.

"Hey!" Luffy was back, grinning widely.

Chopper jumped in shock. "Wahhhh!" He ran off and Luffy started chasing him out of the building again. I sighed, rubbing my eyes, that was getting a bit old now. Can't Luffy catch him already? I could see Kureha start to talk about Chopper's past, so I got up and rolled my neck, sighing in relief when I heard the popping sounds, that feels better. I noticed Nami's cringe as I walked out.

Nami asked me. "You sure you don't want to stay and listen?"

I chuckled. "Yeah, I would hate to have my past listened to, so if he tells me than fine, if not, he's still seems good to me."

Just before I left, I heard Sanji coo. "Mace darling is so considerate!" I rushed out, feeling my ears and neck get hot. He makes me feel so awkward! Back at my old home, no one looked at me that way and on Dawn Island. The only men I knew were Shanks (a fatherly/uncle figure to me and Luffy), my brothers and Grandpa. It's just weird!

Shrugging my thoughts away, I walked back in my room and shut the door. I looked around just in case and then reached under my shirt and jerked the bandages loose enough so they didn't come off, but they were not tight around my ribs either. My chest was used to being bounded. I looked down at my ribs and grimaced. My burns looked half healed. It was like a greenish tint. I was told that I had frost bite and the reason why I woke up earlier was because they poured warm water on the frost bitten places.

I shrugged and chuckled at the thought of my tightly bandaged chest, remembering when I was told to do that.

I was 13 as I buttoned up a green shirt of Ace's (we all ended up sharing clothes, we didn't care much) and Ace barged in. "Hey Mace! Time to catch-what the hell?!"

I looked at him shocked. "What?"

He pointed at my chest and pointed. "Those things!"

I looked down to see myself half way buttoning the shirt. I looked at what he was staring at and felt myself blush. The shirt covered me barely, about half since I was only half done. I was so shocked I stopped buttoning my shirt. I sputtered. "Wha-my chest! I'm a girl, dumbass!"

Ace shook his head horrified. "No! You're my brother! This isn't supposed to happen!"

I looked at him blankly; he seemed to think that since I was his brother, I would not grow like a girl. Trust me, I hated it too! Plus, I had to go through puberty all over again! It was horrible! Ace was not helping at this point.

Luffy decided to them come in at this point. "Hey Ace, what's taking you so long to get Mace, I'm hungry!" Luffy grinned when he saw us.

Ace snapped. "Shut up, Luffy!"

I rolled my eyes at him, annoyed. "Ace! Like I said, I'm still a girl!"

Ace shook his head. "You're still my brother! Brothers don't grow stuff like that!"

Luffy looked at both of us confused. "What? Hey! Mace is our brother!" I looked down and quickly did the rest of the buttons, leaving one open. Ace punched him in the head with a growl.

I glared and pushed Ace. "Bastard, just because you can finally see I'm a girl does not mean you can hit him!" I was hissing, but soon was hissing for another reason when I was punched in the head myself. I scowled at him, rubbing my head.

Ace then sighed and then ran a hand though his hair. "Right, sorry Mace. I know you can't control being a girl and all that."

I smiled at him. Than-wait hey! Me being a girl is not a problem!"

Ace frowned and then got a dark look in his eyes. He ran out and I andLuffy stared after Ace.

Luffy asked me. "Why'd he run off?"

I shrugged, confused myself. "I dunno."

Ace then came in the room grinning. I noticed the roll of bandages in his hands. "Ah ha! Perfect idea!"

Me and Luffy stared at him like he was insane and asked in sync. "What idea?"

Ace smirked and threw the bandages at me. "Dear brother, you will wear these bandages from now on, okay?"

I frowned at him; I know that would constrict my breathing and make it harder to fight. "What if I don't wanna?"

His smirk turned into a sickly sweet smile, a dangerous gleam in his eyes. He put an arm around my shoulder. "You wouldn't want to find that out, would you my dear brother Mace?"

I shivered at his words or more like the threat under them and I saw Luffy shiver too, stepping away toward the wall. He reminded both of us of Grandpa for a moment. I guess I didn't answer because a fist slammed into my head and I yelped, as Luffy winced, my skull throbbing. I groaned and squeezed my eyes shut at the pain. He used more strength in that one, I know it. I had no choice but to nod. He pat my shoulder and let me go, walking to the door. "Come on, Luffy! Mace has to fix herself."

Luffy looked at me wide eyed and I gave him a nod. He looked paler then before and he walked out. I took the bandages and put them under my sheets and waited 5 minutes.

I then walked out with a large grin. "Okay ready to go!" So we went out and trained. So when I faced with Ace and Luffy watched, Ace got a hit to my chest and I huffed wincing at the pain.

I groaned as I lay on the ground with my arms to my either side. "Ow, okay you win."

It was quiet until I heard Luffy's voice. "Uh, Ace what the problem?" I felt a dark aura around and tensed. I have a feeling I'm doomed about something.

I moved my head to see Ace marching toward me, a dark look and a dark scowl on his face. I paled and scrambled away, "A-ace."

He got to me and before I could start running, he grabbed my collar and spun me around, glaring. "What did I tell you?!"

I squirmed and huffed, defiance coming back. "I don't have to listen! I'm older than you in a sense!"

Luffy muttered from behind us. "Uh oh…Mace's a goner." I paled at the look on Ace's face as his eyebrow twitched and knew Luffy was right. He raised his fist and I cringed at the pain on the top of my head.

A couple of seconds later…

I groaned in pain as I was sprawled on the ground. "OW, ugh! I'm dead."

"No!" Luffy wailed, diving next to me. "Ace! You overdone it!" Ace face was less dark and then he leaned down and snatched my ear, pulling me to my feet. I yelped as he pulled me toward Dadan's hut. I bit my tongue from saying anything. I was a very defiant person, but pissing him off when he was like this would be downright stupid. Ace made me put the bandages on around my chest while he waiting outside the door.

The lesson of this: Me learning to fight with a restriction, getting a beating that was bumps on my head, face and body and never piss Ace off when he has that look on his face.

I chucked and rubbed my face, Ace is very protective. I know I can take care of myself, but it's still nice of him. I shook my head and got on to training, grabbing heave things around room (metal tin with things in it and some supplies), tying them to my back with some ropes and working out, doing pushups, squats and pull ups on the top of the door thing. I frowned at the pain causing my muscles, but I ignored it. Like that old saying, no pain no gain.

I huffed. "Gotta get stronger…" The pain was pulling at my sides, making my breaths smaller. But I grit my teeth and lifted myself up. I then heard a crash. I tensed, what is going on now?! I untied the things from my back, hissing slightly when the muscles tightened. I reached under my shirt and tightened the bandages again, grunting in slight pain.

I walked out and decided to go look around. I shivered as I walked into the snow, rubbing the goose bumps on my arms. I ended at the top and hurriedly opened the door, it was way warmer. I looked at the window and my eyes widened. "Hey! It's that fat king, Wapol!" I felt myself get angry when he almost caused Nami and Sanji to be killed. I pulled out my sword and smashed the hilt into the glass, breaking it. I grinned when Luffy punched Wapol and sent him flying.

I then noticed his too lackeys screaming in shock. I grinned wider. "Ha, it's what the bastards deserve!" I then crouched on the window sill. I then jumped, landing on a lose couple of bricks, then they broke (which made me yelp) and I landed on my hands and knees. I stood up and brushed myself off. At least the snow cushioned my fall a bit.

Kureha and Chopper stared at me in shock while Luffy just grinned at me. "Hey, Mace! Long time no see!"

I rolled my eyes, looked at him exasperated. "I saw you a couple of hours ago." He shrugged.

Chopper yelled. "Why'd you jump from the castle?"

I quirked an eyebrow. "I need to get down here as quick as possible." I admit, it was not the wisest things to do, but whatever. I felt pain in my head and I helped, glaring at the old lady. "What the hell was that for!?"

Kureha glared back at me. "Idiot, You're not supposed to break others peoples places like that."

I said nothing in my defense to that one. The two lackeys were already gone and I didn't notice. I asked. "Is he done yet, Luffy? Just one punch?"

Luffy shrugged. "I dunno." I his usual answer. I narrowed my eyes at the figures, oh, there okay after all!

Luffy said. "I'm really sick of you guys, you know that. What's your problem? You're getting our way before we even go to this island." I hand my sword by my side. I looked over and saw Sanji walking by with a coat on. Damn, I'm cold!

Sanji said. "Damn, not these guys again." I think we all have that reaction when we see them.

Luffy's bangs were shadowing his face. "Last time I couldn't fight you because I had to protect my Nakama. Now…You're so gonna get it!" He ended with a grin and I had to smirk. He said 'I' instead of 'we' meaning he was going to take care of it. I understood that.

Of course Wapol was pissed One of his lackeys with the black afro hair yelled. "How dare you, do you know who you attacked? Th king Wapol of Drum Kingdom!"

I snorted. "Like we care."

The joker guy said. "He's the country's monarch! Show some respect!"

I glared, tightening my hand on the hilt of my sword. "Like I care what kind of royal ass you're from!" I HATE rich and royals! That made them all stir in anger. I didn't care, I was smug about it.

Luffy snapped, annoyed. "I don't care! You pissed me off!" Adding insult to injury, he stretched his cheeks and stuck his tongue out. I smirked wider.

Kureha asked. "You met afoul with Wapol before?"

Luffy face scrunched up in anger. "We sure did! He ate part of our ship and attacked my Nakama! This guy got it coming I'm gonna give it to him!" Luffy was stomping around and I sheathed my sword, walking back in the castle as Sanji was about to say something. I need a jacket, fighting cold is horrible. I looked around and found Nami's room and snatched the coat on the chair that I let Nami use before. I pulled it on, zipping it up.

Nami stared at me as I was getting ready to walk out. "Mace? What are you doing?"

I replied. "Fighting."

She sighed. "Don't get in too much trouble, she-hulk."

I felt my eyebrow twitch in annoyance and I snapped my head to glare at her. "Shut it! Don't call me that, you money grubbing witch!" She merely smirked, though her eyes narrowed at my insult. I sighing to myself, I opened the door, walked out and closed it behind me. It was warmer, only a small chill now. I walked by the frost in the air, blowing on the air for fun, seeing the frost in the air. Soon enough I got outside.

Luffy ran past me and I blinked, what the hell? He's not running from a fight (he would never do that), so what the hell is he doing? I walked out to hear Wapol laughing and I asked. "Where'd Luffy go to?"

Sanji smirked. "To get a coat."

I chuckled, shaking my head. "Of course." I looked to see what Wapol was laughing at and smiled. A pirate flag with a jolly roger on it. It had pink pedals around a grinning skull. The cloth itself was black.

Wapol snapped. "How dare you desiccate my castle!? By flying that pirate flag, but flying the flag of that stupid doctor! I demand it be taken down!" I scowled, remembering the flags I hold to my heart. Shanks's. ASLM and our Strawhat flag. They mean something. Dreams and freedom. The things I hold dear in this world.

Chopper said. "I'll never let you touch that flag or get inside this castle. Never." I looked at him and my eyes widened in shock. He just changed from a cute reindeer to a bear sized animal. That's pretty cool, he must be strong if he could do stuff like that and fight. The two lackeys started talking about him, how he was some kind of yeti monster. The only yeti I know is from Star Wars.

Sanji then decided to call Kureha an old lady and she hit him, I learned my lesson already.

I cracked my neck and knuckles, so the fight was getting started. I grinned at them darkly. "Hm, so the battle begins, huh?! It's about time, the reindeer's right! You never touch one's pirate flag!"

Chopper stared at me in shock.

Done! I finished at a cliffhanger because it was getting too long. So the fight will have to wait till next time. I was a bit late. Had to do a lot of homework over the weekend, till next time!
