Girl Falls Into One Piece

One-shot

This is for Valentines Day! Writing about the holiday would be useless because Mace and the guys reactions would be annoyed (except Sanji because we know what he is like and the girl interest to a certain level, predicable, so I'm doing a One-shot unrelated for the holiday, enjoy!

We stopped on this normal looking small island with a basic looking village. We needed supplies to last us to Alabasta and it was there, so Nami decided to make a quick stop for the day. We were lucky because Luffy made a nightly trip to the kitchen and cleaned out the fridge, getting a kick in the head from Sanji that I knew he deserved this time.

We all went into the village there after we docked expect for Zoro who I knew took the time to train in peace. I would train later. Anyway, the village was basic, it had a butcher, a bar, some clothing stores, other stores homes and some woods somewhere right (I don't know the compass that good or at all really). I was walking with Chopper as we walked to the book store because he wanted to look at some books and I had nothing else to do. Plus I was not around him much since he just joined the crew.

He was looking around, eyes a bit wider than usual and amazed at what he saw. I chuckled and the reindeer looked at me. "Huh, Mace?"

I grinned down at him. "Nothing, how do you like seeing your first island?"

He grinned back at me, showing his teeth. "This place is nice! The first place I seen without snow!" He was a bit nervous, but eased around me over time.

I nodded in agreement with that he said. "Me and Luffy are from the East Blue along with the rest of the crew. It's a more seasonal thing there; we get spring, fall, summer and winter there." This was a spring island if I had to guess. His eyes showed interest, he lived in a place like the North Pole or Alaska his whole life, looking at no snow must be weird. I noticed we were at the bookstore. I opened the door and Chopper walked in, an extra bounce to his step. I grinned to myself, happy that I could make him happy.

He went to look at some medical texts that looked huge and I leaned against a bookcase filled with other medical stuff. He had a couple around him, his eyes scanning them seriously. If he never left the island, it makes sense that he wants to look at new material. Glancing over at Chopper I noticed he was in that cute little reindeer form I saw him in when I woke up in Drum Kingdom. I smiled and bent down to pet his fur.

He looked up at me and scooted away. "Ah! Mace, please don't."

I pouted. "But, you're so fluffy!"

He swelled up, annoyed. "I'm not a pet or a puppy!"

People stared and I waved with a toothy grin while Chopper ducked down, hoofs over his mouth as he blushed under his fur.

Chopper than started closing about all of the books and putting them back on the shelf. He only grabbed two in his furry arms and said, walking to the counter. "Alright! I'm done."

I shrugged and walked with him. "You sure, Chopper?"

He nodded and I noticed he was having a bit of trouble. Smirking, I grabbed them (ignoring his squeaks of protest) and put them on counter. The clerk gave Chopper a weird look and I narrowed my eyes. I scowled slightly and fingered my hilt. His eyes flickered down and his body tensed. He paled and gave Chopper the amount he would have to pay. I hated that he stared at my Nakama that way. I knew it would hurt Chopper's feelings if he saw that and I didn't want that to happen.

I waved Chopper away as we left the store. I said walking backwards. "Nice talking to you, Chopper! See ya on the boat!" I grinned as he wiggled around.

"Saying that won't make me happy, Jerk!" I just grinned wider, gave him another wave and walked off. I was about to pass the bar and thought a drink or two wouldn't sound so bad. I pushed open the wooden door. It was warm inside and I was a bit surprised to see a short head of orange hair on one of the bar stools. Not that she being here was a surprise (I knew she could drink everyone in here under the table), but the company that was near her.

It was a random drunk that had no distinguishable features (dark hair and dark eyes), with ah hazy look, showing he was way past being close to sober. I figured Nami could take care of herself so I moved a couple of bar stools away and sat down. Nami didn't notice me. I called to the man cleaning a tankard. "Hey, bartender."

He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. I said. "Rum and how long has the drunk been badgering that girl?"

He smirked at me and went to fill my drink as he spoke. "About 15 minutes." He chuckled as he put my drink in front of me and I took a swig. So Nami let him go on for that long, what is she planning? She was waiting for the moment to rob him broke, most likely. My eyes flickered over and I saw his greedy eyes move over her body. I tensed as my eyes narrowed angrily, the grip on my tankard tightening. She was not in the most covering of clothing, a mini skirt and tank top. Hey, I knew Nami was pretty. If I cared about stuff like that, I would be jealous.

Seeing someone look at my Nakama like that was unsettling. The bartender watched me. "You know her?"

I nodded, drinking some more. "Yeah, my Nakama." His face showed he understood, he must have dealt with pirates in the past, owning a bar. I saw Nami's lips move and the drunk scowl, sneering. She waved his away, and his hand snatched her wrist. I let go of the tankard, gritting my teeth. I watched enough of this! I dug my hand in my pocket and pulled out a couple of beli, tossing it on the counter.

My shoulders were tense and only with a trained eye did I see her hand flicker from his side back to her's. Good, she's done. She pulled at her wrist and his grip tightened. Cutting off my growl. I went over there and gripped his shoulder hard, letting my muscles come into play. He stiffened and turned to glare at me. "Bitch, wait your turn."

I gripped his shoulder harder (making his wince) and I felt my eye twitch. "Let the girl go."

Nami stared at me and I forgot Nami could take care of herself, so has been doing it most of her life, but I didn't care. I know what he was trying to do.

He sneered at me. "Girlie back off, if that is what you can be called."

I flushed angrily and growled. "Now."

His face closed off and tightened. Nami said. "What? Mace? What are you doing?" I ignored the stupid question and the man smirked at me, yanking his shoulder away from my hand and grabbed Nami by the thighs and pulled her flushed against his body.

Blood pounded in my ears as Nami snapped. "Get the hell off of me!"

I felt another growl rise from my chest and my heart pounded, a red haze in my vision. I gasped, royally pissed off. "How dare you…" I couldn't even finish what I was saying. I grabbed him by the back of the neck, pulling him off Nami and spun his around till he was facing me, his back facing the door. I was breathing heavy as I growled. "I'll kill you!" I pulled my fist back and used all my anger and rage at what he did to my Nakama and let it smash into his face. I was pleased when his feet left the floor and he went flying through the door and outside.

I narrowed my eyes at the rage clawing at my chest, it was not enough. He needed to be in pain. I balled my hands into fists and the bar was silent. I walked a couple of steps and was halted by the grip on the collar of my shirt. I looked to see Nami staring at me. "Let it go." She commanded me nicely.

My eyes grew wide in disbelief. She wanted me to do what?! I sputtered. "But Nami! He-."

She shook me. "We need to leave now, just drop it! Plus I had it handled."

I gave a loud snort at that. "Ha! He had a death grip on your hand!" I narrowed my eyes at the 5 bruising marks on her wrist already showing. The rage started up again and it must have showed on my face, because I got a small smack to my head.

She smiled at me, a strange look in her eyes. "It's fine, thank you." The way she said it was so sincere. Like she expected to handle it alone…I frowned at the thought but then remembered Nami went around doing stuff like that for years. All the times she done that and expected no help because there was none. I noticed that the strange look was gratitude and knew neither of us had to say anything because it was there plain and simple.

So I smiled back, the rage leaving till it was bearable. I shook off Nami's grip and I followed her out. The guy was groaning when we left, his jaw and nose broken. The anger than came back and Nami narrowed her eyes at him and when he looked at me, his paled and shied away. I glared knowing my hat and bangs covered my eyes, showing my anger.

Nami noticed my look. "Now, Mace don't-."

Ignoring her words, I launched myself at the man, kicking his ass and beating him up. I smirked satisfied and looked at my bloody hands, and choked when my collar cut off my breathing and I was shook, Nami's voice berating me. "You complete idiot! Do you listen to a single word I've said to you!? I don't know why I'm not surprised!"

I huffed. "I don't know! Get off me, you greedy witch!"

I grunted at the punch to my head as Nami pulled me. "Shut up, you damn she-hulk! I'm not done with you yet!"

I grumbled. "He deserved it, stop pulling me and calling me that damn name!" I was bent at the waist and it was getting annoying. I defend her and this is how I get treated! She let go and I walked with her as she lead the way.

She snapped. "Then don't call me a greedy witch!"

I snorted loudly. "Ha, anything else would be a lie."

That earned another punch I groaned at. She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "And she-hulk isn't! Your muscles on a women are insane as life as much as Zoro! You wear man clothes too!"

I narrowed my eyes at her as we neared the docks and I saw the Going Merry close. "Girl clothes get in the way! I wanna fight! I can't protect my Nakama with my sword if stuff gets in the way!"

Her face softened a little and then she rolled her eyes. "Fine, whatever up say, don't you dare tell anyone about this!"

I scowled, rubbing the back of my head. "Wasn't planning on it!"

We were at the docks now and were about to get on the boat. It seems like we took a while. Sanji waved with hearts in his eyes. Luffy and Usopp also waved grinning. Luffy called. Hey! Your back!" Vivi looked over and smiled in relief at us, I knew she wanted to get going and I didn't blame her. I was still a bit annoyed with the drunk and Nami, so I walked on the boat, going to mine and Zoro's weights right away knowing that little adventure would not be going into my log book anytime soon!

… … ….. …. ….. … …. … ….
