Jasper's POV
The next few days were full of excitement, joy, laughter and even adventure. They were the best I had ever spent with Carlisle, Esme, Rose, Emmett and Cath.
I don't know if it was the fact that both Edward and Alice weren't there, or if it was because Cath was. It was probably both. One thing was for sure, I was getting to know Bella and Nessie, something I hadn't ever been allowed to do.
Of course Carlisle and Esme were getting to know Cath and me. While they had known about me, they had believed Edward and Alice that I was dangerous, so they hadn't really taken the time to have one on one conversations with me. I was also a different man than I had been before I met Cath.
Esme did have to ask me to "please refrain from using certain words in front of the child." Nessie had cried and apologized to me for saying what she had heard her father say. She hadn't realized that what she said had hurt me. She even went out of her way to talk to Cath.
She knew that Cath was hard of hearing so she spoke to her by using her ability to show pictures to her mind. She was happy for me because she said that she had never seen me smile until now. Rose told Bella about the music box I had tried to give Nessie and what Edward had done to it. She thought that I had lost my temper and broke the gift that Edward had bought for his daughter. That's what she was told.
Of course Carlisle did an exam on Cath and she was indeed pregnant. She appeared to be about eight weeks along. We knew that she would be like Bella so Carlisle had her try blood right away and fortunately she liked the taste. We were hoping that it meant that she wouldn't suffer like Bella had.
He also did an exam of both of her ears in hopes that maybe he could help to improve her hearing. It seems that she was right, she had three different things going on with her ears. The defect dealing with a main nerve in both ears made it hard for her to hear. The second was that she had scar tissue still around some of the hair like nerves in her right ear. She had had measles as a baby and it had settled in both ears and caused the scar tissue.
Lastly was the nerve damage done when a girl had slapped her across her left ear. Nothing could be done about that, but he could remove the scar tissue. Obviously he needed her to get through the pregnancy first.
Of course Bella couldn't help but want to be there for Cath and I. She had decided that as long as Cath needed to stay here, that Edward would be staying away. She didn't want Edward upsetting her anymore than she would already be with the pregnancy. I was so grateful to her at that moment.
Having Cath here did something else. Rose explained how she had met Cath and how her and Emmett had wanted so badly to bring her here and raise her as their own daughter, but because of the dangers of knowing about vampires and the Volturi they had just watched over her and made sure she was placed with loving people.
Rose then explained that was the real reason she seemingly hated Bella. She was upset that Edward had been allowed to bring a human into the family, while she had given up the daughter she had loved for the very same reason, she was human.
That caused a bond to form between the three of them. When adding Esme and then Nessie, us males were not only outnumbered, but were shown that the females would make sure that anyone that tried to come in between them would find themselves in a world of hurt.
There were several times that they stole my mate away for plans to shop for the baby, or to just talk about female shit. I didn't really mind that much. She was happy and laughed often. I knew that as her pregnancy progressed she might not feel like laughing.
We spent our nights making love. I had spoken with Carlisle and he assured me that has long as she was feeling up to it that it would actually be good for her, as later she wouldn't be up to it. The only problem we had was when we started to discuss the delivery.
Cath wanted so badly to have a natural birth. Carlisle wasn't even sure it would be possible. He did know that the other hybrid he knew of had a very bloody birth, ripping his way out of his mother. There was no doctor, human or vampire, so its unknown if she could have delivered the baby with help.
Cath finally agreed that if it was obvious that she wouldn't be able to deliver the baby naturally then she would allow Carlisle to do whatever was necessary to save both her and the baby. It helped to take the tension off, knowing that she would allow Carlisle to do what was needed at the time.
It was five days after I had been put back together that we got the dreaded phone call. Edward had been successful in getting all of the blood that Carlisle had asked him to. Alice had been able to shop for her wedding that would never take place. They were on their way home.
They would be here tomorrow afternoon. Carlisle never let either of them suspect anything and for that I was grateful. It was time that shit came out and dealt with. All I wanted to do was rip their fuckin' asses apart for tryin' to make me do what they wanted me to do and for keepin' me away from Cath.
By vampire law, I had every right to destroy them both, but I couldn't do that to Nessie. She was hurtin' enough as it was, because she knew that it was her father that had helped her aunt Alice to hurt me. I didn't really care about them havin' hurt me, but they had hurt my mate by keepin' me from her.
I felt that both Carlisle and Esme had resigned themselves to losin' Edward and Alice. They actually told me that once they had admitted to what they had done and why, it was up to me to decide their punishment. They only hoped that I would show them more mercy than they had shown me. I had every intention to kill them and even they seemed to accept it.
Yet, at the same time, I have to admit I was torn about it, but as usual it was my wife that showed me the truth. If I killed them, I would be no better than they were. I couldn't destroy them without destroyin' a part of who I am now. It was already affectin' the family and not in a completely good way.
Bella was deeply hurt by what she had learned of the man she thought she knew and loved. She felt guilty that she had let Edward control her to the point of always believin' what he told her about me. She was finally getting to know the real me and she told me that she really liked the man she saw. Her exact words were, "I just wish that Edward could have been half the man you are Jasper."
We were sittin' around just talkin' when Alice called Carlisle to let him know that they were walkin' to their car and would be home in a couple of hours. We took advantage of that time and I took Cath back to the cottage.
The next few hours would be so fuckin' hard on everyone. I needed to be with my mate. Not out of fear, but just the need to be connected to her before the shit hit the fan. I needed her to understand that she is my mate and no matter what Alice said, I belonged to her.
Alice would be sayin' shit that would hurt Cath, or at least try to. I needed to assure her of my love. I felt her need to do the same for me. I took her back to the cottage knowin' that we would be makin' love. I think that we were both worried about the confrontation. I knew that both Edward and Alice would have no problem trying to turn her against me, or the family against her.
Our lovemakin' was slow and yet so full of passion. Our love flowed around both of us and we took our time. Of course I wanted to be extra careful since Cath was carryin' our child, although it didn't seem to slow her down, at this point anyway.
When we were done we had to shower and dress quickly. Bella would be comin' here before Edward and Alice got back. The reason for her joinin' us was so that she could use her shield to cover us so that Edward couldn't read our thoughts, nor would Alice be able to see us.
The family was goin' to tell them that Bella and Nessie weren't there and that Bella had gone to the cottage. Peter said that his "knower" was tellin' him that they would panic and rush to make sure that I was still in the basement.
Rose and Emmett would be gone huntin' as well. They would actually be hidin' in a tree watchin' for them to leave and come here. Peter and Char would already be here with us. The family would follow them here and Emmett would text us when they were on their way.
Bella, Peter, Char, Cath and I would stay in Nessie's bedroom. The plan was that as soon as they came in they would hear Cath's heartbeat and hopefully they would believe it to be Nessie. They would check the basement.
We would all be waitin' for them to come out of the basement. They would be confronted with the family behind us. I tried to get Cath to wait somewhere safe until they realized that I was here and the family knew what they had done, but she refused, sayin' her place was with me.
My main concern was that Edward and or Alice would act hastily and end up hurtin' her. I also had a feelin' that she would actually get to see the monsters that vampires can be.
We finally got the text, they were on their way and Em said that they were really in a panic. They also told us that everyone else was also on their way. We waited. We were hopin' that they would go straight to the basement, although even if they didn't it would still get the same results. They would know I was out and ready to expose them to the family.
We heard them, well the vampires heard them come in and then talkin' about checkin' to make sure I was still down in the basement, then they could come up here and talk to Bella and Nessie. They never said exact words, I'm guessin' to not alert Bella to what they were up to.
As soon as they headed towards the basement I picked up Cath and we all flitted down to the door which was closed. I put Cath behind me, with Peter and Char next to her. Carlisle and Bella stood next to me and the others were behind Cath. I made sure that everyone's first priority was to protect Cath.
I was in position so that I would be the first thing they saw as they came out the door. Obviously they would be in a hurry as they came out. I stood up straight and crossed my arms over my chest and waited.
It didn't take but a few seconds and they were runnin' up the stairs and threw the door open. As soon as they saw me the look of fear crossed Edward's face and it took him a second longer to realize that I wasn't alone.
They froze at that moment and I could feel their fear and then it was exchanged for assurance. I saw that Alice had what appeared to be a vision and it seems that it gave both of them confidence. I have a feelin' that they were goin' to try to convince everyone that I had tried to hurt them or Nessie or some other shit and that's why they had me ripped up and thrown me down there.
Sure enough it was Alice who spoke first, "Oh Jazzy, I'm so glad that you came back to yourself. Now we can go ahead with our plans to get married!"
I was about to say somethin' when I heard a growl. It was Rose and Char both. Edward looked at Bella who was standin' next to me and said, "Bella love, you need to step away from Jasper. He might not be completely back to himself. We had to detain him as he went crazy trying to get to some human. He would have drained the man had we not stopped him."
"Are you fucking shitting me? You stupid fucking lying asshole. How dare you lie and try to make Jasper out to be a monster. The only fucking monsters in this place is you and that bitch that thinks she can control and use the whole family and especially Jasper for her own fucking pleasure. And there's no fucking way in hell that Jasper would ever marry you, you stupid slut! He not only wouldn't, but he fucking can't marry you." Cath told them comin' from behind me.
I heard Peter very clearly,"Oh shit!"
Carlisle stepped in between Cath and Edward and told them to join us in the living room. His tone left no room for debate. I refused to turn my back on them so I let them go ahead of me. Alice did try to latch on to my arm, but Char knocked her away from me.
Once we were all in the living room Carlisle told them that there were some things that had been brought to light and we would be getting the truth out in the open. Edward had tried to put his arm around Bella, but she told him not to touch her.
Carlisle told them that introductions needed to be made and then they were going to sit and listen while everyone talked. Edward got up and told Bella to come with him, he needed to hunt first and he wanted her with him.
Rose and I couldn't keep from laughing when Bella gave him her answer, "No Edward, you do not need to hunt and I'm not going anywhere with you. You are going to sit down, shut the fuck up and listen. After that you will be staying here, at least for the time being. Nessie and I will be staying at the house with the family. I thought you were a good man, instead I find that you are the monster that you always claimed Jasper was. Now sit your ass back down and shut the fuck up!"
His face showed the clear shock he was feeling, but he sat back down. Carlisle then turned to me. I was still standin' and still had Cath behind me. He nodded and I understood he was wanting me to sit down and then introduce Cath to them.
Alice had taken the love seat and I knew she was expectin' me to sit next to her. I chose instead to sit in the chair next to the couch across from both her and Edward. I sat down and pulled Cath into my lap. I heard Alice growl, but Carlisle shot her a warnin' look and she stopped.
I introduced her as Catherine Whitlock and then told them that she was my mate and wife. Alice jumped up screamin' that I was lyin', that she was my mate. I told her that it didn't matter what she thought, Cath and I were married and there wasn't a fuckin' thing she could do about it.
The next thing I knew she had lunged at Cath and all I could see was red. . .
A/N Please let me know what you think. Now I need to let my readers know that my RL has just gotten more stressful than ever. The place where we live is in bad need of many repairs just from old age. So, the landlady has decided that she needs us out of the house in 30 days. That means that my free time will now be spent looking for another place to live, packing, and moving. I'm not going to stop writing but my stories may not get updated as I usually do. I'm already late on posting this story and the next chapter of The Experiments hasn't even been started yet, and I usually post that on Fridays. I will be late on posting that one as well. I'm really sorry but I must spend time trying to find a place to live. Like I said,I won't stop completely but just please be patient with me, and I'll do my best to continue the stories until I'm either waiting for internet to be connected, or just don't have any time at all to work on them.
