Jasper's POV
I stayed with Cath throughout her change. Of course the first two days I spent working her heart for her. Once I knew she was healed and her heart was beatin' strongly I moved her to our bedroom and cleaned her up. I had thought her to be so fuckin' perfect before, but now she was even more beautiful.
Once cleaned up and dressed I had Rose and Em bring JJ in to see his mama. He had been cryin' and askin' for her. Rose had explained that mama had been in an accident and had gotten hurt so she wouldn't be able to talk to him. He still wanted his mama so they brought him to us knowin' that in a few more hours she might not be able to be around him.
He appeared to be about two now and he could talk very clearly. As soon as Rose had the door open he flew into my arms and hugged me. Then I took him over to the bed and put him next to Cath. He hugged her and laid down next to her. He started cryin' and tellin' her that she needed to hurry and get better so they could play.
I loved watchin' him with his mama, but then I remembered what Alice had done and was about to go and rip the bitch apart and I was about to head out to do just that. Apparently Em understood and told me not to bother, that he and Rose had spent some quality time with her and she was once again without legs. The bitch was goin' to face the Volturi and her lies.
After a few minutes of talkin' to Em and Rose about everything we were interrupted by a small voice singin'. JJ was singin' to his mama just like she had done with him. The strange thing is that I just now noticed that she had stopped makin' any kind of noise. She hadn't stopped screamin' before he was brought in, but it was off and on.
The sound of our son's voice was somehow soothin' to her. Even her whimpers of pain had ceased. I could still feel that she was in pain but JJ's presence was helpin' to keep her from cryin' out. If I had known that I would have had him brought in the first day. Then again I was workin' to keep her heart beatin'.
It suddenly dawned on me that she was in control of herself at least enough to keep quiet in the presence of our son. That gave me hope, but at the same time I wasn't stupid enough to believe that she would have complete control. Our son was able to spend an hour with her when I realized that she was gettin' close to bein' done with her change.
Rose and Em got JJ to leave his mama by promisin' him a few games on the XBox and maybe a hunt later. He was huntin', but hadn't actually made a kill yet. We always brought him the animal already dead and he would drain it. We also knew that he had venom, which meant he could turn a human if he were to bite one.
When she finally had her last heartbeat and woke up, we were prepared for a newborn reaction, but got something we should have thought about but hadn't. While she seemed to understand she needed to be careful she went into overdrive almost as soon as her heart stopped.
She sat up and slammed her hands over her ears. I felt her panic and then she bolted out the door and found the nearest window. She was so fuckin' fast and by the time I caught up with her she had stopped runnin'. I found her hunched over in the forest almost sobbin' and she was still feelin' panic.
When she saw me she launched herself into my arms and started beggin' me to make the noise stop. It turns out that we forgot to take into account that she would be goin' from not bein' able to hear much to hearin' everything. To someone who isn't used to bein' able to hear, the sharpness of a vampire's hearin' would be overwhelmin'.
Emmett had been playin' his games and he was playin' one of his war games with the sounds of explosions and guns goin' off, Carlisle had some quiet music playin' softly in his office and Esme was in the kitchen cookin' something for the kids to eat. For a deaf person to suddenly hear all of that, no wonder she had panicked and ran.
I was just grateful that she remembered me and our son as well. I took her on her first hunt and since we were already in the forest it wasn't hard to find a couple of deer for her to soothe her burnin' throat. She was kind of messy, but that is to be expected.
She seemed to be more like Bella, more calm than not. I'm not sure if it had to do with their foreknowledge of vampires or the fact that they had a child waitin' for them at home. She wanted to see JJ and while I wasn't completely comfortable with the idea of her seein' him, I wasn't gonna stop her either.
She did make me hold her arms and be ready to stop her if she was gonna lose control, but it was all for nothing. She was able to hold him and actually play with him without havin' to worry about gettin' hurt.
Rose, Em and JJ had met us outside of the house and until Em explained what was goin' on I was confused. It seems that Aro had called Carlisle and told him they would be here in an hour and made him put Alice back together so she could be at the house when they got there. She was the one who made the complaint, they wanted her there to hear her complaints in front of those she was accusin'.
The only thing I felt good about was that they had brought Marcus with them and I knew that he would read our bonds and know that Cath was my mate not Alice. That would help as for the main complaint, but not with the fact that Cath had known about vampires since she was very little and had not been killed.
We couldn't lie because we knew that Aro could read any of us and see the truth. I was more worried about Rose and Emmett since they were the ones to let Cath live and even helped her throughout her life. The penalty for either of those things were death.
Cath and I had stayed outside, not wantin' to go around Alice until it was absolutely necessary. We knew the Volturi were on their way and would be here shortly so it didn't really matter. Rose came out with JJ, pissed off beyond reason and I had to calm her down.
Cath took JJ so I could find out what had Rose so pissed off. Once Cath and I heard what was goin' on we were pissed off as well. Seems that Alice was rearrangin' the bedrooms. The one Cath and I were in wasn't the same room I had stayed in before and Alice was takin' all of my shit and movin' it into her room.
If it hadn't of been for the fact that Aro, Marcus and Caius showed up I would have gone in the house and stopped her. This was when Cath's gift showed itself. It was actually right before they got there and she was pissed off and ready to go after Alice. I needed to calm her down so I sent her some calm. It didn't work.
The only thing that stopped Cath from goin' after her was her concern for me. When I sent her calm it was enough to make a vampire drop, but instead of her goin' down, I went down. Of course I stopped sendin' it as soon as I did go down.
As soon as I did I was able to get up. We had about ten minutes before they got here and I needed to find out what the fuck Cath did. Peter was the one who suggested that I try to send her different emotions and just see what happened.
We did several things different ways and quickly found out that Cath could throw whatever the gift was back at the one who sent it, or at least my gift anyway. But she had no clue how she was doin it. We also found out that she had no control over it, it was just a part of her and if someone was touchin' her they were protected as well.
Of course Bella was gonna use her shield to cover us from the witch twins as we always liked to call Jane and Alec, but Cath's gift could also be used to keep Aro out of our heads. The thing is that the Volturi already knew of Bella's gift, but if they found out about Cath's gift they could try to force her to join their guard.
They had brought more guards than we knew they needed, but then they were probably gonna try to take out the whole family as we are very gifted and therefore pose a threat to their ruler ship. At least that's what they thought. They had tried to once before when they were lied to and told about Nessie.
Aro spoke first, "Carlisle, you already know why we are here this time. Alice called and informed us that a human had come in and forced her mate to leave her. Apparently the human has some gift and was able to persuade him that he was not Alice's mate, but hers. Now we see that there is another female here and since she has a young child that is a hybrid I'm going to assume that the child is Alice's mate's child with this female. I would like to hear what Jasper has to say before deciding on the sentence. You do know Carlisle that it is against vampire law to come between mates don't you?"
I answered for him, "Aro, I'm Jasper Whitlock and I'm glad that you brought Marcus here. I'm sure that he will be able to tell us the truth. Alice has always insisted that she and I are mates. I have never felt the bond between us, nor have I ever led her to believe that I could feel a bond. As soon as I saw my true mate here, I knew that she was indeed my mate. We bonded and she wears my mark. She is also my wife as I did marry her the human way. I wanted to bond to her the human way before she bonded to me the vampire way. Please allow Marcus to use his gift and he will see our bond."
Marcus stepped forward and studied us for a minute before smilin' at us, "Aro, he speaks the truth. He is mated to the one who stands at his side with this child in her arms. Their bond is unusually strong, I have waited a very long time to see this particular vampire mated. He is one of the most feared vampire's in the south and I thought he would never find a mate. I'm pleased that he did indeed find her and she has captured his heart which I never really thought he had. I was wrong about that as well.
It would seem that Alice has lied to us about him being her mate. Might I suggest Aro, that you read young Alice and we can get to the bottom of this."
Alice started to back away and of course Bella didn't have her covered with her shield. Carlisle was the one who grabbed her before she could run. I could feel his sadness and his pain. It hurt him deeply that Alice had betrayed the family and was trying to get Catherine and possibly our son killed as well.
Aro went and took Alice's hand. He was quiet for a couple of minutes before pullin' away. He had a sad look on his face. When he turned to his brothers I felt his remorse as well as his anger, "Marcus, I'm afraid that you are right. Dear Alice has lied to us. I was hoping that maybe we could urge her to join us in helping to keep the vampire world safe, but she is unstable and would turn against us, but sadly hers is not the only death that we will have to deal with today.
It would seem that two others have broken the first law and not only allowed a human to live with the knowledge of vampires, but helped to take care of her throughout her life. While she has now been turned, the fact remains that she was allowed to live during her younger years and could have easily told others about us. The penalty for that is death as well.
Carlisle I know that you knew nothing about this so you and your mate would have been safe, although I'm disappointed that you allowed another of your family to mate with a human and bare a child. I thought surely you had learned your lesson. Obviously I was wrong on that as well. Sadly we cannot allow your coven to continue to break our laws. Therefore we hereby sentence the whole family to death. Jane, Alec, Felix and Lori take care of the problems so we can go home."
Several guard members launched themselves at Bella which knocked her down and caused her to lose focus and her shield went down. Emmett stepped in and got them off of her, but everything was goin' too fast. I noticed Jane, Alec and the one I'm assumin' was Lori just standin' there starin' at us.
It was then that noticed the black fog comin' from Alec and at the same time a tornado of fire headin' straight for us. It was almost on us when suddenly Cath was in front of all of us. As soon as it was almost on her it turned back and Jane was screamin' in pain,
Alec was just standin' there not doin' anything and Lori, well let's just say that she was burnin' as we fightin' stopped and Aro looked on in horror as the fire spread. Alec and Jane were standin' too close to her and they caught fire as well. He had lost his best three gifted guard members in one sweep. I could feel the fear comin' off of him and I stood up proud that with little to no injury to our family we had brought down the three most dangerous vampires besides myself. Actually we didn't do it, it was my mate.
Carlisle quickly took charge and came to stand beside my mate and I, "Aro I think that I can speak for my family when I tell you that we just want to be left alone in peace to live our lives as we want to. I'm truly sorry for the actions of some of the family members.
While I'm sorry that we did bend some of the laws I believe that we rectified that when we turned the two humans that knew about us.I'm also saddened by the loss of three of your guard members. I wish it hadn't happened, but I'm not sorry that my daughter was able to protect us. I do not know what she did, but I'm truly grateful to her that I find my family is safe. Now if everything is settled we'll be going back inside to check on our kids. Please refrain from feeding here."
"We still need to take care of the one who betrayed your family. We must see that justice has been served. Once her sentence has been dealt with we will take our leave. You will have our word that we won't bother you, unless we hear of you breaking another law. It's going to take some time to get gifted vampires and get our guard back to full strength. I hope that you will keep to yourselves what took place here today. I do hope that we can part as friends Carlisle."
Carlisle told him it would take time, but maybe one day they could be friends once again. Aro told Cath and I that Alice was to be killed and since it was us that she had done the damage to, it was up to us to do it. They would stay to make sure she burned before they left.
Alice tried to run, but of course Peter, who had unnaturally stayed quiet, was there to stop her. I didn't want Cath to rip her apart as she hadn't actually killed with her own hands, but her matin' instincts were in full force and she growled at me when I reached out to rip Alice's arms off.
She was in between Alice and I before I could respond. I was about to grab her and have Emmett hold her, but she had Alice before I could and I watched as she savagely ripped Alice apart and threw the limbs into the fire that was still burnin' from the three guards.
I expected to be shocked by what had happened, but then again my own instincts kicked in and I needed to claim my mate. Apparently she also needed to claim me as she hadn't had time to mark me. As soon as the last of Alice's head was burnin' she turned to me and attacked.
She had knocked me down and I quickly put my arms tightly around her and jumped up and took off. I didn't want this to happen with an audience so I ran her to the cottage. Now that the ones that had occupied it were gone we could be alone here. I ran her into the room we had used and within seconds our clothes were gone.
Right now we both had a need. It was savage, raw and animalistic. I took her roughly and without havin' to hold back I was able to use my vampire speed and strength. Later I would make love to her, but this was about our vampire instincts needing to claim each other.
Her growls were spurrin' me on and we both fought for dominance. When we both finally came, we sunk our teeth into the other and therefore finally made our claim on each other, although I had already claimed her this was her first time to claim me. It felt so fuckin' good, so fuckin' right. For the first time in my very long existence I felt total peace and something that I never thought I would ever feel.
Someone truly loved me. Not for my gift or for my fightin' abilities, but just loved me for myself. The best part, she was now mine forever. . .
A/N Please tell me what you think. I'm really wanting to know what you think of the image of Catherine in the cover for this story. The next chapter is the epilogue. Its my hope that I can get it done before Christmas but it might not happen. Therefore I wish all of my readers a joyful and blessed Christmas. I know a lot of you wanted to see the Major tear Alice apart but it just felt right to let Catherine do it. In the epilogue we will find out if Bella finds her true mate.
