Girl Falls Into One Piece
Chapter 35
Yeah, I know it's been awhile, but with school and other stuff, plus writers block, I finally got this out. Hope you like it.
Warning: A bit of cursing in this.
I curled my hands tightly around the bars, my knuckles turning white. I was crouching too, half of my weight on my toes. I was between glaring at Crocodile and looking worriedly at Vivi as Crocodile continued to laugh like a stereotypical villain from movies back in my time. Vivi was sitting, pupils almost blown completely wide.
I could tell the rest of the crew was as angry as I was, showing it in different ways. Vivi snapped. "Damn you! Just what is it you think your going to do to Alabasta?!"
Crocodile still had that stupid smirk. "Princess, would you like to know what kind of people I despise above all others? Those pious hypocrites who bleed endlessly about the happiness of the people."
"You plan to kill my father? You'll be dead before you can get close to him!"
Vivi scream had me shift slightly. I muttered to myself. "If only these damn bars weren't here..."
Crocodile laughed. "You needn't shout, I'm not going to touch a hair on his head. He's not even worth killing. Instead, I shall let him taste the humiliation that is far crueler than death."
Usopp asked shocked. "What's crueler than death?"
I said lowly, eyes trained on Crocodile. "Many things." Watching those you care about die. Being tortured. Having someone die for you and bleed to death in your arms. The list goes on.
I shook my head from the dark thoughts. Bad things usually happened when I thought like that and now was not the time for that. Vivi glared hatefully at Crocodile and he laughed mockingly. "That's such an unlady like expression you have there, your highness."
I growled under my breah, gritting my teeth. This cocky bastard was pissing me off. Vivi yelled. "I demand that you tell me. What is this Operation Utopia? Answer me!"
"You demand, perhaps you need to look at you're current situation."
"I SAID ANSWER ME!"
I grimaced, I get she's worried, scared, angry and a whole lot of other things, but she shouldn't be showing her number one enemy this much. It's going to destroy her. He's just going to mock her more and use it against her.
Crocodile said in that gravely voice of his. "You're a couragous young women. Well, why not? The Operation is already underway. Very well, I'll tell you about my plan to end this country. About Operation Utopia."
I felt the grip on the bars loosen and drop as he told us what he planned to do for Operation Utopia. I even felt myself pale. I glanced over at Smoker, seeing that his eyes were sharp and he was getting all this. After all, Luffy isn't known to kill someone, if he had to sure, but...Once, Luffy kicked Crocodile's ass, Smoker could inform the marines or something like that, making sure that the warlord didn't hurt anyone else. None of us could do that, unless we decided to kill him.
Maybe Zoro would, I don't know. Vivi looked close enough. Of what he said, destroying Nanohana, using the kings face with Number 2, causing distrust and having the rebels and the Royal Army clash and kill each other at Alubarna, basically destroying the kingdom.
This guy was smart, there was doubt about that. Even if he was a failure as a pirate. He must of spent a long time planning this. If what Zoro said was true, that they oftered his a spot a while ago, he's had to of spent years of this plan of destroying Vivi's country. It made him crazy, to kill all these people like that. This guy had his plan laid out.
I don't think I'd even met anyone like this in my time. It was insane and I looked at him differently. He wasn't just some evil bastard. He was a evil bastard with a smart mind. I still hated him, if possible hated him even more. He was already a failure of a pirate by being a Warlord, but staying on this country and acting like some underground dictator. Well, let's just say, I've read and learned about plenty of them in Histroy Class.
Still, he was sick. Smoker was looking pissed off, a darkness in his expression. The crew was between looking shocked and pissed off. For a moment, I wondered where Sanji and Chopper were and said to myself they were fine. At least they weren't trapped in this stupid cage. I moved forward so I was kneeling on my knees instead of on my toes. My toes was starting to hurt a little and tingle.
Crocodile still laughed, making my eyebrow twitch in annoyance. "Shut the hell up!"
Nami eyebrows were turned down in horror and anger. "That's horrifying."
What bothered me the most was the look of horrified pain in Vivi's eyes as his Operation hurt her personally. If Luffy didn't call kicking his ass, I would've done it myself. Looking at Luffy's face, I could tell he was itching to do just that.
Crocodile asked, mirth in his tone of voice. "Well, do you like it? The Operation you once particapted in is not reached fruition. If you listen closely, I wager you can hear the howl of the Kingdom and they all scream the same thing. Protect Alabasta. Protect Alabasta. Protect Alabasta."
Vivi screamed in agony and I cringed, curling my hands into fists, the nails biting me. The pure in my friend's voice sparked an angry fire in me.
I growled to myself as he laughed again. "It's heartbreaking isn't it. They're love for their kingdom will be what destroys it."
I grimaced a little as Luffy screamed for the third time in my ear. His yell was one of rage. I rubbed a hand down my face as Luffy rushed the bars. They weaken him, that's not going to help. Though like him, I felt my anger rising. Luffy slumped down and I sighed, something that would usually spark amusement only making me sigh.
Smoker asked. "Is he stupid? Didn't he hear what I said before?"
I snapped sharply, defensive of my brother and captain. "No, he's not. Watch it, Smokey."
He glared at me. Zoro said. "He's definatly stupid, but that's the reason he's our captain."
I was between glaring at the swordsman or smiling with pride, so I just looked away from them with a grunt, looking back at the three people out of the cage. That All-Sunday lady was around her late twenties or somethng, looking emotionlessly at the display. She looked bored out of her mind and it pissed me off as much, maybe a little more that Crocodile with his dark mirth at everything. She was so unbothered by it all. Like this whole Operation was some small thing she was doing, like an errand she had to run.
Sure, she didn't show joy or anything like that, but she was like a rock or a robot. Luffy strengthened and started pushed at the bars, growling and baring his teeth. "I'm so going to kick your ass."
Crocodile grinned. "You know what? I had to make so many moves to get to this point. The sabatoge to inflicting the citizens, manipulation the Royal Army. Do you have any idea why I'd go to such lengths? To destroy this country?"
I frowned, standing straight and crossing my arms over my chest, my brow furrowed. I also wondered why. What would he gain by ruining this island's country. He has a nice cushiony seat on the Warlords (If you like that sort of thing), why would he do this? I was thinking that before and after he told us about Operation Utopia.
Vivi snapped at him and he laughed. "You have a pretty sharp tongue for a princess."
I crossed my arms tighter across my chest. Vivi crashed herself to the ground and I heard Usopp call her name. Crocodile said. "Now, now, what are you trying to do, ?"
She gasped. "Stop you, I'm going to stop you! They're still time. If I can just get to Alubarna, east of here, if I can get there before the rebel army, I may be able to stop them. I'll never give up when there's a change. Somehow I'm going to stop you, watch! You won't get away with this!"
Luffy growled. "No."
He took the words out of my mouth as I watched the princess in concern. All the anger I felt at our disagreement was just about washed away, looking at her on the ground like that. I believe I was getting better at holding my temper, it was only a matter of when I was going to lose it.
I did when I was fighting that Tuna guy from Arlong's crew. I glanced at Nami in reflex to that memory. I remembered how pissed off I was during that fight.
Crocodilie said. "You can quit fooling around now. What a coincidence, we were just about to head to Alubarna ourselves, Mrs. Wednesday. If you'd like to come with us, princess, then please do or you can try and save them."
My eyes widened when I saw the grin on his face, but more importantly than that, the key to this cage. I pressed myself closer to the bars, eyes not leaving the object.
Vivi gasped. "The key!"
Luffy shouted. "The key to this cell?!"
I also shouted. "Hey! Gimmie that!"
Luffy shouted again. "Hey, give it!"
I watched him hang the key away from his body and I tilted my head to the side. "What is he doing?"
I didn't like that grin. My gaze went down to Vivi when I saw her struggle, grimacing when I looked at her tied hands, that had to hurt. My jaw dropped as I looked on in horror as the key dropped to a hidden floor below. "W-what?! No way!"
Luffy screamed out in shock. "No!"
Crocodile said. "It won't be too long until the Rebels and the Royal Army will fight to the death to Alubarna from here. Who know's if you'd make it in time. To stop the Rebellion, you need to leave at once, . Will you do that or try and save your friends instead. It's your choice. But if you choice the last and it doesn't help that I accidently dropped the key into the Banana Gators Den."
I couldn't help but stare at Crocodile in shocked rage as Luffy screamed about Alligators growing out of a banana. I normally would've laughed, but I couldn't keep my eyes off of Crocodile.
I heard Nami scream. "It case you haven't noticed, that's not the only one."
Usopp and Luffy were arguing about the gators. I couldn't help but notice they're size. I frowned. "I wondered where he got such big and weird gators?"
Nami snapped. "That's not the part that matters!"
I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, your right..."
The final straw was when I saw one of the gators eat the key. I clenched my hands tightly to the bars. Luffy asked what happened and I said, my voice tight. "The damn gator ate the key."
Luffy screamed. "What?! Vivi, go down there and make him spit it out!"
"I wouldn't stand a chance. They're Alpha preators at the top of the food chain, they're dangerous. They even prey on Sea Kings, Luffy! Get near one and they'll devour you in one bite!"
Crocodile laughed. "Sorry, you might of had the key if I hadn't accidently dropped it. And now they're no telling which one of my pets swallowed it."
I snapped, finally fed us. "Accidently my ass! You cowardly son of a bitch! Open this fucking cage so I can bash your damn head against the wall. Screw kicking your ass, I'm gonna fucking kill you!"
Crocodile raised an eyebrow, that sickening grin on his face. "You should watch your mouth, young lady."
I growled through my gritted teeth, hands clenching tighter and tighter to the bars. I could feel my breathing get a little heavier and my face felt heated as I glared at him. The crew was speechless for a moment, they never heard me snap, at least not like that. I could tell they too were fustrated with the situation. Usopp said. "Wow, Mace."
Nami murmured in agreement. "Yeah, wow."
Zoro sighed. "If I could get out, I could handle those over grown reptiles."
Luffy huffed. "Zoro, your really dumb. We can't get out because the key got swallowed."
Zoro growled. "I know that, you stupid idiot."
I smirked slightly and could see Luffy looking at me. I scowled at him, shaking the look off. I haven't blown up like that in a while. He needed to think about himself and the crew, not me. I could handle myself and my emotions just fine.
Crocodile was raising an eyebrow, amused. I made growl in anger. "Damn bastard."
Crocodile then turned, walking toward the doors. "Oh, well." He snapped his fingers. the doors opening on command. "I'm sorry, but we must be going, time is of the essiance. Oh and speaking of that, this room will be destroyed in one hour. It served me well, but it's no longer of an use. Soon the waters of Rainbase's lake will fill this room and unless there are fish in one of my gators, none of you will survive. One million citizens or 4 mere pirates who have no future. It's time to choose, but to be honest the odds are quite low for both. I hope you like gambling, Mrs. Wednesday, because like they do at the tables upstairs, you're going to have to roll the dice."
I shook my head as he laughed. "Just like I did with this country and it was simple thanks to all the fools here. People like those juvinile rebels and that old man digging in Yuba."
My head snapped up surprised. I was zoning out, this guy like to talk and I really didn't think I'd be good for my sanity and health if I did. Luffy was also aware. He screamed. "You don't mean that dried up old guy, do you?!"
Crocodile drawled. "Of course, even though everyone else has abandoned it, that old fool keep pecking away at an oasis that's long dead. Even as he's plagued by constant sand storms, he digs away."
My spine stiffened in shock at what he implying. Luffy seemed to get it as he growled. "Shut up!"
Or maybe he didn't, he didn't sound as angry if he did know.
Crcocdile chuckled. "You don't know about sand storms, do you, Strawhat Luffy?"
I glared at him darkly. "You bastard!"
He merely laughed again. "Your violent friend gets it, do you ever wonder how someone can hit a town perfectly every time."
I was trembling in rage at the dark glee that showed on his face. Luffy face showed disbelief at what Crocodile said. Luffy's eyes went to mine and I gave him a sharp nod, there was no point lying to him. Vivi gasped. "No, wait, you mean..."
Luffy growled as angry as I expected him to be. "It was you! You did it!"
I pressed my lips tighter, not wanting to burst out in a rage I knew I was feeling inside. Vivi snarled, face dark. "I will kill you!"
Crocodile laughed and I saw Mrs. All-Sunday look back at us. I scowled at her and she looked ahead. I flinched as an opening burst open, water coming out. Usopp screamed. "The room is starting to flood! Oh no!"
I stood up completely, moving my hands from the bars and flexing them. There was a tightness from gripping them so hard and so long. I grimaced and move my jaw, the same goes for the teeth clenching. I looked worriedly over at Luffy. He had the worst change, being a devil fruit user. I glanced at Smoker, him too. I shook my head, he wasn't my concern, my crew was.
I shared a look with Zoro, this wasn't good.
"Vivi, hurry up! Get up out of here! I want to live longer than just one hour!"
I rolled my eyes at Usopp plead. Zoro sounded just as annoyed. "Hey, stop freaking out."
Usopp yelled. "Are you crazy, Zoro!? How can I not freak out at a time like this? We're all going to drown like rats if we don't get out of here! Don't you get it!?"
I rolled my eyes at him again. "Calm down, will you?"
Usopp turned to face me. "Not you too! We're going to drown!"
I scoffed. "And panicking will help?"
"What else do you expect me to do?"
I smirked slightly. "Not panic?"
He screamed in fustration, clawing at his hair for a moment. I frowned. "Joking aside, we need to find a way to get out...without panicking."
Usopp sent me an annoyed look. I looked toward Vivi, who knew that whatever she did Crocodile would try to kill her. I scoffed at the idea, like we'd let him. Still, she knew if she left right now, Crocodile would and unfortanatly, we were stuck in here. It made me growl to myself at my own helplessness.
All the gushing made me me anxious. That has to be gallons rushing out a once. I looked over everyone. Nami and Usopp looked worried, Luffy and Zoro looked annoyed and angry and Smoker looked pissed off. Though I think he always looked like that.
Vivi screamed and I spun around on my heel. I saw her throw that weapon of her's and sighed to myself. I couldn't really blame her, I did the same thing to Smoker earlier, but still I could help, but worry. What if he gets mad and stops playing with her.
Thankfully, it stopped next to her. I scowled, looking away as I heard her weep. Luffy was pissed, that much I could tell, not that I blamed him. Luffy called, his face softening. "Vivi, get us out! I know you can!"
"How Luffy?"
Crocodile drawled out. "So, your finally begging for your life. No shame in that, Strawhat Luffy. It's only natural, everyone is afraid of dying."
I scoffed. "We'd never beg to you."
Luffy growled. "I'm not begging! It's just if I die, who else is going to be able to kick you ass."
I grinned at that, it was just like him. Though something tightened harshly in my chest at the thought of his death. Though his words managed to stop Crocodile from walking. "Don't flatter yourself, you small fry!"
"Your a small fry who thinks he's a big shot!"
Crocodile snapped his fingers and a latch opened. I glared at the gator that came up. I cursed. "Bastard!"
Crocodile smirked widely, but didn't say anything to me. Instead, he turned to Vivi. "Your right, Mrs. Wednesday, I would've had you killed if you left for the capital."
I gave a shout of anger at that.
Crocodile, the bastard ignored me. "Of course, I plan on doing the same here."
I smacked the bars with an open palm. "Kick that over grown lizards ass!"
Luffy called. "Yeah! Vivi, show that gator!"
Nami and Usopp screamed in shock. Usopp said. "It's too big! Vivi, don't listen to them, get out of there! But get us out too."
I wondered how long that would last if we cooked it and if it tasted like banana too.
Nami snapped. "Are you really thinking about that right now?!"
I blinked. "Oh, I said that outloud. Sorry."
Nami then said. "Look out the window!"
I looked saw the gators waiting in line. Usopp screamed. "Ah! They're all waitingin like to eat us!"
Zoro sounded nonchalant. "At least we won't die like rats."
I gave him a cheerful thumbs up. "At least Zoro's looking on the bright side."
Usopp waved his arms. "There is no bright side! I didn't want to be eaten by huge alligators either!"
Vivi called. "Peacock String-"
My eyes widened when I saw the gator chomp where she was before. "Vivi! Shit, where'd she go?"
I sighed in relief when she moved away. They moved quickly for their size. Usopp voiced this. I looked to see the stone stairs chewed through. I raised an eyebrow. "Impressive."
Usopp snapped. "That's not the point!"
She was swipped by the huge tail the size of a large snake. Luffy shouted. "Vivi, no!"
I peered closer, trying to find her. I slammed my hands on the bars repeatedly as she laid in front of the gator. The others were shouting for her to get up. It opened his mouth and I was starting to feel pain in my hands when a sound came. I looked around and saw Crocodile's partner speak to a snail.
That was really strange when I found that out, how you could use snails as phones. I really thought this was an alternate universe from the past, no way was that a real thing. I would've heard about it. Though that was pushed from my mind when I heard Sanji voice. "Hello? Can you hear me?"
I grinned widely at that. Mrs. All-Sunday said. "Yes, we can hear you. Your a millions, right?"
Sanji said. "Hey, pal, is this thing working alright? I only used a transponder snail once before."
I heard another voice, lower and painfilled. "It's working fine, they can hear you. Just talk into it."
Mrs. All-Sunday said. "What do you want?"
I heard Crocodile growl of a voice reply. "State your business. What is it?"
Sanji said. "Oh, now I know I heard that voice before. Yeah, hello there, you reached the crap cafe."
I chuckled under my breath, knowing that had something to do with Sanji and the Baratie he used to work at, where the waiters and cooks insulted people.
I leaned my arms against the bars. Crocodile was confused. "The crap cafe?"
Sanji asked. "Does that ring a bell? It should, but in case it doesn't, maybe this will jog your memory. Little Garden."
Crocodile looked more angry than annoyed this time. "We have five of the six Strawhats inside that cell based on what Mr.2 showed us. The only one that's left is that pet. But they have other members we don't know about?"
I muttered. "Looks like we have our way out."
Nami and Usopp were muttering excitedly. Luffy yelled. "San-" I smacked him over the head as Usopp covered his mouth. "Shut up, they don't know about him, let's keep in that way."
I shook my head. "Jeez, Luffy, sometimes you need to use your head." Usopp whispered. "He was in the cabin when Mr. 2 showed up, so they never met. He's our ace in the hole, so zip it."
Crocodile said, looking much more relaxed. "So, mind telling me who you are?"
"Me? Well, just call me Mr. Prince."
I snorted, I should've known he would say something like that. Crocodile said. "Very well, Mr. Prince, mind telling me something else? Like, where you are?"
"I'm afraid I can't say. If I did you would come running and get rid of me. Even though I highly doubt you could get rid of me, I'm not about to do so. I'm not stupid, I never give up information easily. Unlike you just did, Mr. 0."
I smirked, letting out a bark of laughter. When Sanji wasn't going on about women and the like, he was pretty cool. Usopp started shouting for 'Mr. Prince' to help. I couldn't help, but laugh to myself when Luffy joined him. Nami hissed. "Mace! This isn't funny!"
I felt a look and it sends the hairs on the back of neck stand up. It was Smoker, he was giving me a look of disbelief. I grinned. "What's up, Smokey?"
"Pirate, don't call me that!"
I let out another laugh, we could handle this just fine. Sanji said. "That's my loud mouth crew, alright. Thanks for letting me know they're with you. All I have to do is find you-" I heard a shot and let my own shout of anger show. Did someone shoot Sanji?
The others gaped. The guy said they got him.
Crocodile asked. "So, where are you? Speak up."
"At the front of the Casino with the gator on top in Rainbase, Rain Dinners. Zoro grit his teeth. "If he's not dead, he's going to wish he was when I see him."
I raised an eyebrow. "So, you do care?"
"Dammit Mace, shut up."
I was clenching my fists as Luffy wailed Nami went on being depressed. I shook my head. He's not dead. Crocodile laughed. "Stay right there. Well, we shouldn't leave the man waiting."
I never thought I'd hate someone as much as I was hating Crocodile at this moment. Mrs. All-Sunday finally spoke up. "Is this wise? The Millions still don't know the actual identity of their boss."
I ignored their conversation as it meant nothing to me, facing the others again. I turned back around when I heard the gator growl. Luffy called. "Vivi!"
Vivi was crawling away, on a broken piece of floor. "We still have time before this place fills completely with water. I'm going outside to help you know who."
Voldemort? I shook my head, now was not the time for that. Nami and Usopp agreed with that, believing Chopper and Sanji could help us. I noticed Crocodile pulling something. I and Luffy shouted in alarm. "Vivi, look out!"
I glared furiously when the sand he used made her fall. Crocodile said. "I had enough of your nonsense."
Luffy and Usopp went back to cheering for her. I frowned at the water getting closer and closer. Crocodile said. "Since you care for your friends that much, Mrs. Wednesday, you can just die here with them. Which thanks to the rising water and hungry pets outside, she occur very very soon."
I cursed him out angrily.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I drag Mr. Prince here to join you. If you don't mind corpses."
I scoffed. "Sanji ain't dead."
He finally walked off and Luffy growled out Crocodile's name. He called a moment later. "Vivi!"
I said. "Hey, Vivi! Can you hear us?"
I looked at her worriedly, I hoped she didn't get knocked out or something. Concussions were a nasty business. Vivi was awake though and mumbled to herself as she struggled to stand.
The gator went to attack, but I noticed it's pupils dialate in pain, pulling back. Vivi jumped on it's back and went back toward the chunk of stairs and ran. Nami grinned. "Yes! She got away."
I felt relief build in my chest. Then he went to bite more of the stairs and my heart sank. "No!"
I stumbled away from the bars as the water broke though the windows. Nami called. "Things just went from bad to worse."
Usopp said that we had about 20 minutes. I swore again, looking at my brother. He called. "Vivi, are you okay?"
She was okay when the dust cleared. "I'm fine, I'm going to get help, so just hold on! I will not abandon any of you, I promise. I'll be back with help, okay?"
I called. "Good, be careful."
She ran back and I frowned when I saw her face. She had bruises all over and a bleeding gash near her right eye. I clenched my fists. We needed to get out of here and soon.
There it is. Yeah, Mace was pissed. I just finished a really old anime about 15 years old I think, Fruits Basket. It was really good and I loved. I usually don't do romance either. Short, Sweet and heartfelt. Anyway, hoped you liked this.
