After returning from the land of waves team seven made their way to the Hokage tower were Kakashi gave a full scale mission report to Third. After reviewing and giving out his praise and the team's profits he sent the entire team away with a three day break to rest and recharge before attempting any new missions.

"Enjoy your small break guys you earned it. Meet me at the usual meeting spot in three days and take it easy till then" Kakashi ordered waving bye to his students before leaving.

"Ah three days is such a long time and he won't train with us!" Naruko whined.

"Naru-chan don't stress too much. If you want you continue training me in medical ninjutsu?" Hinata offered.

Naruko smiled and hugged her blue haired friend. "Of course I will! You improving a lot and you have so much more control than I do, if you keep it up you'll be a top notch medical ninja in no time!"

"I don't think that'll be possible." a new voice said in a snarky tone.

"Oh and what makes you say that?" Naruko sneered turning to the new voice to see a teal eyed colored girl with blonde hair gathered into four ponytails.

Naruko notices the older girl's outfit consisted of a single light purple-colored, off-the-shoulders garment that extended halfway down her thighs, with a scarlet sash tied around her waist. In addition to incorporating fishnet worn over her shoulders and legs, but what caught her attention the most was the black forehead protector around her neck.

"You're not from the Leaf. What are you doing in our village?" the blond demanded while Sasuke who had been ignoring everything so far turned to eye the newcomer with untrusting and calculating eyes.

"Pipe down pipsqueak. I have a right to be here so why don't you mind your own business" the older girl snapped.

"Man, I let you wander off for a minute and you're already picking fights. Ah troublesome woman" sighed an all too familiar voice from behind the new blonde.

"Shika!" Naruko cheered rushing to the lazy boy's side and tackling him into a hug. "Hehe miss me?" she giggled completely ignoring the other girl now that her best friend/boyfriend was here.

Shikamaru who got knocked to the ground gave the hyper blonde a sour look, but if you look closely it held amusement too. "Well, it was a lot quieter when you weren't here."

"Oh shut up. You know you missed me these last three weeks" she teased smirking at him.

Temari who felt like she was being brushed off by the two felt an angry tick form on her head seeing how friendly they were being with each other. "Hey, Pineapple boy are you going to stay on your lazy ass all day or are we going to continue that tour?"

Naruko twitched at the demanding tone of the other girl and turned to give her an annoyed glare. "Don't order Shika around like you control him" she snapped.

Shikamaru sensing the tension between the two blondes sighed as he sat up with Naruko in his lap. "I'm getting up troublesome woman. Blue-eyes will talk later. Okay?" he said moving her off his lap as he got up.

"That's more like it. Come on" Temari said taking his hand and marching away from team seven who looked confused.

"Why's the Nara hanging out with that outsider?" Sasuke pondered aloud failing to notice the dark aura radiating from Naruko.

"That HEIFER! Who does she think she is making Shika follow her and ordering him around like that! And what's Shika doing listening to her anyway!" Naruko screeched.

Hinata trying to be the good friend she is tried to calm her friend down, but unfortunately for her Sasuke opened his mouth and made things worse.

"Maybe it's because she likes the Nara..." Sasuke said

"Shut the hell up! You do not even know that and that heifer is not Shika's type at all!" Naruko yelled stomping off.

Hinata not wanting her friend to be upset and off by herself went to go after her, but Sasuke quickly stopped her.

"Let her cool off. When she's moody like that she tends to attack everyone and if she up saying something to hurt your feelings it'll cause more harm than good" Sasuke warned.

"But she looked really mad, is it really best for her to be alone?" The worried heiress asked.

"Just give a few minutes than you can go find her. For now just do as Kakashi advised and get some rest, maybe go practice the moves you learned. As for me I'm heading to the training grounds. Our sensei may have told us to take a break, but I'm not going to waste three days when they can be used to better my skills" the young Uchiha tells her before releasing her hand and walking away.

Standing alone Hinata let out a sad sigh. She knew Sasuke was right, but that didn't stop her from worrying about Naruko. Knowing she was helpless to assist Naruko out she decided to listen to her male teammate's advice and went off to practice her healing techniques all the while hoping Naruko would feel better.

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!" Iruka yelled at the stoic looking silver haired Jounin across from him. "Kakashi Naruko and the others are nowhere near ready for something so life threatening!"

Kakashi sat patiently letting the brown haired Chunin make his opinion known before speaking. "Iruka-sensei I can assure you that even though I lost my mind years ago, that my decision is not coming from blind faith. I believe my team is ready for the Chunin exam because I saw firsthand what they are capable of, especially Naruko."

Iruka was glaring at the silver haired Jounin torn between strangling him and listening to him. "I don't doubt their strong, but the Chunin exam isn't just some simple exam it's dangerous. I can't let you send them in there" he said stubbornly.

"Well, it's not your decision. It's mine and I have already sent in the request to allow my team in." Kakashi tells him dodging the scarred man's attack.

"Then why the hell are you here if you weren't going to consider my opinion!? Did you just come by to rub it in my face that you are Naruko's new teacher and that she doesn't need me anymore!?" Iruka yelled throwing another punch towards Kakashi's face only for said fist to be caught.

Kakashi gave the angry Chunin a passive glance. "That was not my attention in the slightest Iruka. I know how much you care about Naruko so I decided I be courtesies enough to inform you of my decision. I haven't told my team yet about the upcoming exams and the exam won't begin for the three days so I'll make you a deal. I'll let you test my team out for yourself. Give all three them a test of your own choosing and if one of them fails your test then I'll withdraw them from the exam, but if they pass you give them your blessing." Kakashi suggested still holding the Chunin's arm as he leaned forward closely to the scared man's face. "I also want my collection back if they win, so is it a deal Iruka-sensei" he drawled out smirking under his mask at the heated flush that appeared on the younger man's face.

Iruka bit his lip and mentally cursed himself for being manipulated by the smug silver haired man. Even though he knew he was set up he was willing to play the other's man game to insure the safety of his former students and adopted daughter. "Fine. I accept your deal Kakashi-sensei."

"Good. I look forward to our next meeting than" the silver haired Jounin said smugly knowing without a doubt his team would pull through.

"Stupid Teme doesn't know what he's talking about. Shika's too smart to let himself be dragged around by that snake in the grass she-witch. He must be trying to figure out why a stranger from another village is here. That has to be the reason" Naruko mumbled to herself still upset she was blown off by her boyfriend.

The young blond was so lost in thought she failed to notice the little shadows she had tailing her until she heard a sneeze and turned around to see three little shapes poorly hidden with a fence cloak. Sighing she turned towards the hiding trio.

"If you're going to hide you guys should learn to do it properly. Why are you following me?" Naruko demanded.

Behind the cloak came a grinning Konohamaru, a sickly looking boy and a cherry cheeked little girl showing them all to be sharing sheepish smiles.

"Hi wifey! I heard you were back from your mission so I wanted to introduce you to my teammates! This is Moegi and Udon" Konohamaru said as the sickly boy waved shyly and the orange haired girl gave Naruko a nasty stare.

"Why does she get to be your wife Konohamaru!? There isn't anything special about her in the least, she actually looks really dorky and she's flat chested too" Moegi said sticking her head up like she was superior to Naruko.

"I actually think she looks really cute" Udon mumbles so Moegi doesn't hit him.

Naruko on the other hand was boiling with rage. "Why you little twerp! I have you know I'm a solid B-cup not that it's any of your business to know that and take that back about me looking like a dork!" Naruko yelled red faced from embarrassment and shame for actually arguing with the kid.

"Make me!" Moegi said pulling her eyelid down while sticking her tongue out.

"That's it! I'm going to throttle you!" Naruko screeched charging for the little girl who quickly screamed and ran away from her. Konohamaru and Udon didn't want Moegi to die so they quickly chased after their teammate.

Moegi turned the corner to continue running away, but bumped into someone because she wasn't paying attention. Looking up the little girl saw a boy older than her wearing a black, baggy, full body suit with a red and yellow circle on the front. He was also wearing a black hood that covered his head completely, and had cat-like ears with his forehead protector on his forehead. The thing about the boy the frightened Moegi so much was his purple face paint that made him look scarier than he needed to be.

Naruko, Konohamaru, and Udon rounded the corner when the boy Moegi ran into bent down and snatched her up making the little girl scream and kick her feet.

"You stupid brat. Why don't people in this village know how to act? What are you guys so stuck up you can't practice manners or something?!" the boy asked showing aggression to his captured prey making Moegi tear up as she begged him to let her go.

Naruko on the other hand wasn't standing for this treatment. She knew the girl made some rude remarks to her, but she wouldn't go that far to scare Moegi, she was a little kid after all. Squaring her shoulders back Naruko launched herself at the blacked clothed teen and delivered a nice punch to his cheek making him hiss and release Moegi who Naruko quickly caught before she hit the ground.

Naruko set the teary eyed girl back on her feet before moving her behind her as she glared down the older teen. "What's your problem? It was an accident you didn't have to scare her like that she's just a kid!"

The teen Naruko just hit cupped his cheek before glaring at the blond who decked him. "Piss off blondie! Learn to mind your own business and don't play the kid card with me. Are all Konoha kids spoiled or something."

Naruko glared at him before noticing the sand village symbol on his forehead protector making her pull Moegi closer and signaling the others to stay back. "Spoiled, nothing of the sort. On the other hand I see you sand ninja guys think you all are so high and mighty. Well, I hate to break it to you bub, but you aren't special here or anywhere so either back off or I report your sorry butt to the Hokage for entering another village without proper cause and terrorizing little kids" Naruko threatened.

The teen only responded to her threat with a highly amused laugh that ticked Naruko off more before the boy reached into his outfit and pulled out a passport. "Sorry blondie, but I do have permission to be here. I'm here with my team to take part in the annual Chunin exams."

"Chunin exams? What the heck are the Chunin exams?" Naruko asked.

"Wow you really are stupid if you don't know what that is. Here blondie let me give you a little lesson so you can be on equal footing with the big kids" he taunted pissing Naruko off more who was about to start yelling at him when he began to speak.

"The Chunin exams are the tests that are held twice a year in the chosen village of the year to test Genin. This exams determines whether or not Genin are ready for harder mission and that promotion. So Genin and their sensei's from other villages are coming here to take part in the exam and as such gives them permission to be in neighboring villages. So did you get that or do I have to say it slower for you to understand?" he teased relishing in the angry glow in the blonde's cheeks.

"Yea I understood you. So you can be in the village, but it doesn't give you permission to act like you run the place. My advice to you stay away from these kids or you'll answer to me" Naruko threatened really fighting down the urge to punch the arrogant sand ninja in face again.

"Well, I can put off the exams and just fight you now you little punk. How does that sound because since I entered this dumb village I been looking for a fight and you just pissed me off to point I need to vent off some steam. Who knows you might last long enough for me to get some decent training in" he growled stepping closer to Naruko who didn't back down just moved Moegi towards the boys so they be out the way.

As the teen was stepping closer to Naruko a cold and chilling voice spoke up. "Kankurō. You fool. You've done enough to make yourself look like an idiot. Don't disgrace us anymore with your obnoxious behavior."

Turning to the voice Naruko and the teen now known as Kankurō saw a small red-haired boy with cold emotionless teal green eyes staring at them while hanging upside down from a nearby tree. Naruko felt a shiver run down her spine at the chilling look in his eyes while Kankurō looked absolutely afraid.

"Gaara! Uh it's not what it looks like...I...I mean these punks...they started it and... I was...I mean to...s..say is..." Kankurō stuttered out making Naruko raise an eyebrow at the teen's new change in behavior before turning to the red haired kid.

"Shut up before I kill you" Gaara said darkly making a shiver run down everyone's spine as the red haired disappeared and reappeared in front of Naruko. "I'm sorry he cause you problems, but if you excuse us we need to leave."

"Wait, who are you?" Naruko asked feeling scared and intrigued by this new ninja for an unknown reason.

The redhead looked at the leaf Genin. "I don't have time to talk to you. You are not a person to bother with. Kankurō lets go."

Naruko growled to herself getting really tired of being blown off by people today. "Why you..." she started to yell, but stopped when she was hugged from behind.

Looking over her shoulder she saw Moegi hugging her while trying to muffle her sniffling. "T...Thank you." she said quietly making the blond smile.

"Hey it's okay...Are you hurt?" Naruko asked forgetting about the sand ninja in favor checking on the frightened child.

"Y-yeah..."she said wiping her face dry before smiling up at her. "You were really awesome when you punched that guy in the face and... I'm sorry I was rude to you before" she mumbled.

"No problem. Since we got that mess out of the way why don't we head to Ichiraku's for lunch? I haven't had ramen in three weeks and I need my fix" she said cheerfully.

"How does she make ramen sound so much like a drug?" Konohamaru asked Udon.

"I don't know" the snot nosed boy replied.

"At least my drug is the good kind of drug" Naruko countered. "Now are you guys coming or what?" she asked starting to walk away from them with Moegi holding her hand.

"Coming!" the boys yelled running after the girls.

"So that blond haired girl from before...was she your girlfriend or something pineapple head?" Temari asked taking a sip of her drink maintaining eye contact with the boy across from her.

Shikamaru who had his head tilted towards the ceiling gave a low sigh from the abrupt question. "Man what drag...Not that it's any of your business, but no she's not. She is my best friend though so I appreciate if you leave her and my friends alone" he tells her.

Temari hummed at his answer still studying him. "Hmmmm okay if you say so, but it kind of looked like she was the jealous girlfriend when I dragged you away" she gauged wondering how he answer her now.

Shikamaru gave her a bored stare. "I haven't seen Blue-eyes in over three weeks because she was out on a mission and today was the first day she got back from that mission. It's understandable she was upset."

"Now you sound like the boyfriend who's rationalizing his girlfriend's behavior" Temari remarked grinning at the Nara's annoyed expression.

"Whatever...everything has been a drag as of late….and chaperoning a troublesome woman around everywhere doesn't help matters either" Shikamaru sighed going back to staring at the ceiling.

"What do you mean? And I haven't been that bad have I. You should feel lucky I made you my personal tour guide" Temari remarked.

"Oh joy…." the Nara boy remarked

"Could you just smile for once?" Temari asked. "It's like you said you and the blond kid aren't dating so you could at least smile when you having lunch with a girl" she sighed sitting back and crossing her legs over one another.

"Now who's sounding like the upset girlfriend?" Shikamaru shot back before yawning. "Man how ever get stuck tour guiding this chick around? I swear I'm going to get the guys in the office for this. Not only have I had to put up with her nagging me for three days, but now I probably went and pissed Blue-eyes off. Man could this get more troublesome?"

"Oh and what if I am? What's stopping me from pursuing you in a romantic light? You not the hottest guy around, but you look nice enough. On top of that we're enjoying a nice lunch together like a couple and what can I say. I'm a sucker from a man with a brain" she said flirtatiously leaning in close to the startled Nara who was not expecting this turn of events.

"Aww man why does the universe hate me? What a drag" Shikamaru thought flushing a bit from her flirting.

Temari went closer to Shikamaru who's slowly tried to back away until…

"Hey Wifey isn't that you're pineapple haired friend?" Konohamaru said pointing over to Shikamaru and Temari.

"I'm so screwed" Shikamaru thought when he saw Naruko look this way and felt his heart sink a bit when he saw the hurt and betrayal swirling in her eyes.

Naruko clenched her free hand into a fist fighting back her first impulse to thrash the blond witch and chew Shikamaru out when she had kids around her so she did the most rational thing she could do.

Naruko forced on a fake smile and looked at her following trio. "Yea that is. Um guys I hate to leave, but I just remembered I have a team meeting to get to, but feel free to eat and just tell Teuchi-san to put it on my tab. Well, see you guys later" she said detaching herself from the small trio and rushing out of the restaurant.

Shikamaru made a move to get up to talk to her, but froze when he saw the force smile she wore and the stone glare she sent at him before bolted out of her favorite restaurant. Feeling horrible he slumped back in his chair and slammed his head on the table. "Why me?" he groaned.

Naruko was running blindly through the street wanting to put as much distance between her and Shikamaru as possible. "Stupid Shikamaru! Ah I was making up excuse for him for brushing me to the side, but now I see why he did that. Gah I'm so stupid...he was right we should have never got into a relationship it ruins everything!" she yelled inside her head.

Moments later, she made it to the bridge, staring at her reflection as she let her tears flow.

"Naru-chan? Are you okay?" a quiet voice asked making the upset blond look towards her blue haired best friend.

"Hina-Chan? Ah I'm fine!" Naruko cheered faking a smile and wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Then why were you crying?" she asked stepping closer to her friend and teammate.

"Oh I wasn't crying. Nope I'm fine, better than fine actually! I meet two of Konohamaru's friends and they started a little fan-club with me as their ideal isn't that cool" Naruko tells her hoping to keep Hinata distracted from her turmoil.

Hinata knew her friend was upset and felt hurt that Naruko didn't want to confide in her, but she guess she let it go for her sake. "That's nice Naru-chan. They have a great role model to look up to then."

Naruko grinned sheepishly. "Haha no way~ I was a horrible student. I put papa through heck with all my pranks and ditching. I'm surprise papa hasn't gone insane yet" She joked.

"Don't sell yourself too short Naru-chan. Out of everyone you were the hardest working one of us" the young Hyuga heiress praised.

"Even though I can still beat you, I can at least admit you have some strength and a little skill...I guess" said their male teammate catching the last bit of his teammate's conversation. "Since we're all here where that sensei of ours is?"

Naruko stuck her tongue out at him. "Shut up teme and do you mean? Nii-chan gave us three days off remember why would he be here?"

"Naru-Chan didn't you get sensei's message to meet here? That's why you're here isn't it?" Hinata asked.

"I didn't get a message. Haha I came this way randomly" she admitted sheepishly.

"You're such a Dobe" Sasuke remarked making Naruko flush in mock anger.

Before any playful banter could be exchanged a small smoke cloud appeared on the bridge.

"Hello my wonderful students. I have some news to share with you three" Kakashi said giving his three precious students a smile from under his mask.

"Nii-Chan if you said we were on leave for three days why you call for a meeting?" Naruko asked,

"I just told you I have news. I'm sure by now you all have seen other ninjas from other villages in the streets..." Kakashi started to say before he was caught off.

"Don't even bring up those sand village bastards! I had enough of them and their rude troublemaking asses!" Naruko shouted going back to the scene with Temari leaning in to kiss Shikamaru and the confrontation with the sand brothers. "As far as I'm concern that Chunin exam needs to end already."

"Aww Imoto I'm sorry you feel that way. If the Chunin exam ends now you guys might miss your chance to take part in it" Kakashi said discreetly.

"What do you mean Kakashi-sensei?" Hinata asked not missing the excited look in Sasuke's eyes.

"What I mean Hinata-Chan is that I signed you all up for this year's Chunin exam. I know you guys have only been Genin for a few short months, but from our last mission I've seen amazing growth in all of you and I believe this challenge will further demonstrate the progress you all have made" Kakashi said still smiling at them.

"Iruka-sensei told us about this. He said Chunin is the next rank above Genin and the step before Jounin like you Kakashi sensei. He also told us that the Chunin exams are a way for Shinobi to test their skills, wisdom and strength against other village from nearby countries" Hinata said.

"Thats correct Hinata" Kakashi tells his student "And from what I hear the sand village only sent in one group of Genin this year, but you'll meet Genin from other villages too."

"Screw the rest of them jokers. I'm only aiming for that whole team of sand freaks. I'm going to show them they can't mess with the people of the Hidden Leaf Village. Believe IT!" Naruko shouted feeling pumped up and determined to make her mark in this upcoming exam.

Lazyfox: And there we have it folks the opening chapter to this exciting arc~ And to add to the excitement I have ended my first semester of college so I'm free for the next few weeks~!

Magic: YAY~ Binding no Jutsu!

*Golden chains wrap around LazyFox to her computer chair*

*Kushina kicked down the door wielding a chainsaw with Minato following behind her with a flaming battle axe*

Kushina and Minato: Where is the little cheating shadow devil!

Lazyfox: *Scared for her Shika* He headed up North. You won't find him I have him to heavily guarded

Kushina and Minato: *smile evilly scaring everyone in the room* we'll see about that~ *they say darkly before vanishing*

Lazyfox: *Scared and still tied up* Well, that's a terrifying way to end this segment. So I need you readers to send in lots of reviews so we can all ban together to save our precious Shika because I promise you, you don't want anything to happen to him.
