*RECAP*
When the moonlight hit the scroll a light beam touched the ground beneath them.
Bending down Sasuke wiped away the dirt to see a spell tag buried underneath. Picking up the spell tag caused a popping sound to echo in the night air. Turning towards the sound team seven saw an underground passage to reveal itself.
Naruko looked at the stairway with suspicious eyes. "Anyone else getting a bad vibe from this?"
"Yes, but sadly we have no choice but to go down there." Sasuke said.
Naruko sighed. "Damn, I hate it when you're right. Well here goes nothing" she said taking the first step into the passageway.
*END RECAP*
Naruko was in the lead as she walked down the darkened pathway with Hinata and Sasuke following close behind her. Thanks to Naruko's heightened eyesight she was able to make out the straight path in front of her.
"This tunnel looks like it stretches on for miles" she tells them hoping to break the eerie silence between them.
"Just keep your eyes in front dobe. Don't need you setting off any traps down here" Sasuke warned keeping his eyes and ears opened for any sense of danger nearby.
Naruko growled low in her throat as she fixated him with a heated glare. "Teme I swear you are nothing but a pain in my a-AHHHHHH!" she yelled as the floor collapsed beneath her.
Sasuke jumped forward and caught her hand before she could fall down into the hole. Looking beneath her Naruko gulped as she saw many spikes at the bottom. Sasuke was glaring down at her as she pulled her back to safety.
"Will you now listen to me? Or would you rather be a dobe kabob?" the young Uchiha growled as he bopped Naruko on her head.
"Whatever..." Naruko grumbled rubbing the sore spot on her head before looking sheepish. "Thanks for the save..."
Sasuke sighed as he rolled his eyes. "Hn. Come on I'll lead this time, were almost at the end now."
"I wonder how many teams have already made it through to the next part of the exam and what the next exam will be" Hinata said wanting to break the silence and to keep the peace.
"We'll find out when we get the hell out of here. I hate being in tight spaces like this makes me feel like I'm being suffocated" Naruko tells her pulling at the collar of her black T-shirt.
"Where almost out Naru-chan. I can see a light up ahead" Hinata tells her.
"Sweet!" Naruko cheered.
Just as Hinata said Team seven had finally reached the end of the tunnel and were able to step into a dimly lit room with a large tapestry hung up on the wall in front of them. Hinata walked up to the scroll and began to read it aloud.
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Hinata read causing Naruko confusion and Sasuke to become suspicious.
"What the heck does that mean? And where is everyone?!" Naruko yelled feeling agitated and tired.
Sasuke sighed as rubbed his throbbing head. "The test hasn't ended yet Dobe. When I first opened the scroll it said for us to make it to this location and wait for the exam to end."
"Ummm we kind of cut it short on the time frame didn't we? Did we make it on time?" Naruko asked.
"I'm happy to announce you did" came a voice echoing inside the room drawing team seven to take on a defensive formation as a smoke bomb went off in the center of the room.
As the smoke cleared out leaving a figure standing in the room catching the young team off guard when they saw the familiar grinning face of their academy teacher, Iruka sensei.
"Papa what are you doing here?" Naruko asked looking more confused than before.
Iruka chuckled softly at the perplexed faces of his former students. "Wow, you guys look like you've been through the ringer. Seeing as this is the end of the second part of the exam it's set up to where Chunins get to greet the examiners and I was lucky enough to get to greet you all."
"Greet us?" Hinata asked softly.
"Yep you guys just made it in time. Congratulations, Team Seven, you passed the second part of the Chunin exam!" Iruka announced watching how the young Genin team face changed from stunned to excited. "As a treat for you all making it this far into the Chunin exams I'm taking you all out to Ichiraku's for all you can eat ramen... WHOA!" he yelled as Naruko burrowed into him for a giant hug.
"WOOOHOOO! WE PASSED! WE PASSED!" Naruko cheered snuggling into his chest beaming her face splitting smile up at him.
Hinata was beaming happily too as she smiles at Sasuke who was trying to mask his excitement by looking cool.
Iruka had a proud smile on his face as he patted down Naruko's ruffled hair. "Yea, you passed. I'm very proud of you three, but even though the first two test are done don't let this confidence get to you when you walk into the next part of the exam" he said warning them.
Naruko calmed down a bit while Hinata and Sasuke became attentive once again. Iruka looked at each one of them closely as he waited to pass on maybe his final lesson to them.
"For the past three days, you all were put into a survivor challenge that tested your teamwork skills and your ability to survive in a complete unknown environment to you. The skills you used inside the forest where the skills you needed to show that you are ready to become official Chunin. With that being said I want you all to heed this motto carefully and take it with you into the next phase of the exam" Iruka explained to them as he motioned to the scroll hanging behind him.
"Sensei what does the motto mean?" Hinata asked.
Iruka smiled gently at her as he looked up to the scroll reading the message aloud. "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us, the meaning of this message is that no matter what has happened to us in our past it does not define us in the present. The problems we face now are so small that we can and will be overcome as long as we believe in ourselves."
Team seven took in the wise words listening closely to the resolve they would need to have so that they could continue on as memories from there past flashed inside their heads at the mention of events from the past.
"I wanted you all to have this motto in your heads when you take on the next phase of the exam. That is... all that I have to pass onto you" Iruka said starting off strong before growing quite.
Naruko nodded before flashing him a dazzling smile. "You can count on us Papa!"
Iruka shot a small smile towards her which then turns into one of concern, "But keep in mind: This is the third and final test. Don't push yourselves too hard...especially you, Naruko. I'm worried that you might-"
"The moment I received this headband from you, I was no longer your student, Papa." Naruko said clenching her headband. "There's no need to worry because this headband is the symbol that I've grown up, right? The part of me that was always hyperactive may not have left me, but I am not a kid anymore."
Iruka watched her closely and saw the look of complete determination in her blue eyes and knew she was right. She wasn't a kid anymore that she was ready for the next part of her ninja career. A sad, but proud smile form on his scarred face as he looked at her. "You're right...I'm sorry Naruko..."
"I've doubted how much she's grown up and how far she's come along. I wanted to prepare her and warn her for the danger still left to come, but she doesn't need me to look after her anymore. Funny how you get her better than I do Kakashi, but can you blame me for not wanting my little girl to grow up so fast and not need me anymore?" Iruka thought to himself staring at the tiled floors sadly.
Soon a pair of thin arms wrapped around the academy teacher's waist as a head of sunny blond hair nuzzled into his chest.
"Don't be so sad Papa...I may be growing up, but I still need you to look after me," Naruko said softly before looking up to him. "I mean who else is going to keep me on track and worry about me like you do?" she teased flashing him another dazzling smile.
Iruka chuckled softly at her as he ruffled her hair staring down at her fondly as he hugged her back. "Yea, I guess you're right about that. Just take care and be mindful in the next round; that goes for all of you."
"Hai Sensei!" Team seven said together as Kakashi moved into the room.
"Well, I'm glad to see everyone is looking okay considering how hectic the challenge was" Kakashi teased looking over his students.
"Hey, Onii-Chan! It's nice to see you again!" Naruko said running over to hug her big brother.
"Same to the three of you. See, Iruka, it's just as I told you. I had faith that my team could pull through this difficult challenge." Kakashi said hugging his little sister before fixing the Chunin with a teasing look.
"You're right…" Iruka said, "And sorry about my outburst that day."
"It was totally understandable that you wouldn't let your students face this challenge, but remember that they always need that important push to reach their goals." Kakashi said.
"Um...what are you two talking about?" Naruko asks looking between the two.
"Kakashi and I were talking about my reaction to him allowing you three to take this test. I wasn't at all happy about it…" Iruka admitted.
"But that's all in the past now." Kakashi said as he takes a quick glance at Sasuke clenching his neck. "What's important is that you all made it through with your lives and you're one step closer to the end."
Naruko gave Kakashi an optimistic grin, "No problem, because now I'm a full-fledged ninja! Bring on whatever challenge comes my way and I'll come out on top without breaking a sweat."
Iruka and Kakashi smiled at her. "I'm sure you will. Now follow me the Hokage has something to say to all the passing participants" Kakashi said.
Soon Team Seven was lead out of the waiting room into the main room were the teams who passed stood with their Jounin sensei watching over them with Ibiki, Anko and Lord Hokage with a few other Chunin by his side.
Anko noticed all the teams were present. "Okay first off, for the second exam, Congratulations on passing!" she said looking over the 8 teams that passed. "I said I cut them in half, but only managed a third. This year really is looking good."
Gai scanned the assembled teams before turning to Kakashi. "I'm glad to see your team made it through, but if they happen to face someone from my team they won't stand a chance. In a test of skill no one can compare to the training or power of youth my team possess."
Kakashi turned to his longtime friend giving him a blank stare. "I'm sorry Gai did you say something?"
Gai crotched down crying out manly tears, "My own rival did not notice me, but I will not give up, Kakashi! You and your students will one day acknowledge my skills as a Youthful Shinobi!"
"Um...okay then. Good luck with that." Kakashi said chuckling awkwardly.
"So it looks like all the rookies from our village this year passed. Has that ever happened before?" Kurenai asked turning to Asuma who was looking proudly at the assembled teams.
"Not all rookie teams have ever been nominated before so yes this a first next to Kakashi being the only Genin to take the test by himself. This year is really looking good, I've never seen Tou-san look so happy and excited about a Chunin exam before" Asuma teased as he looked over at his grinning father.
"So many young competitors, the future of the five villages will indeed be the hands of very capable young shinobi's" Hiruzen thought smiling at all the assembled Genin.
"Wow so many teams made it through? I bet the teachers weren't expecting that" TenTen thought scanning the crowd of teams. "Oh Boy Gai-Sensei and Lee are already making a fool of themselves." the young brunette face palmed herself seeing her sensei bickering with Kakashi while Lee was bouncing around with fiery passion glowing around him.
"Looks like Shorty made it through...I hope I get the chance to show her it wasn't a wise idea to mess with me" Kankuro thought grinning sadistically towards Naruko who was standing in the lead of her team grinning excitedly. "We'll make sure to wipe the grin off her face won't we Karasu?"
"I can't believe the three of us lost against those Kumogakure guys!" Kiba thought letting out a frustrated growl thinking back to how they almost didn't make it in time and how bad Akamaru and him were beaten.
Akamaru let out a sad whimper feeling Kiba's anger which made him feel ashamed of himself for letting his master down. Sakura hearing the little pups whimper gave his head a gentle pet as she kneeled beside him.
"Hey don't worry little guy you'll get your chance to really shine soon so cheer up!" she said making Akamaru let out a happy bark as he jumped into her arms giving her face sloppy kisses that made her giggle which brighten up Kiba's mood as he watched them.
"Looks like Sakura is finally getting along with her teammates, that's good." Ino thought smiling at her best friend and sometimes rival. "I'm glad Sasuke and the others made it, but I wonder if Sasuke-kun is going to be okay?"
Shikamaru was observing Sasuke closely making sure he was in control of himself while Hinata was watching Sasuke clenched his shoulder with the weird mark on it. Seeing her teammate in pain had her worried that he might be losing control again, but he was showing signs of controlling the power. She was hoping it stayed that way for everyone's sake.
Across the room three pairs of eyes were trained on the young Uchiha beside the two girls who were concerned for the boy. Two pairs of eyes held curiosity while another pair held unadulterated hatred.
"I'm going to make you pay for damaging my arms, Sasuke Uchiha!" Zako thought clenching his fist tightly as he glared at Sasuke.
"So Sunny and Pinkie made it through, I'm glad. I can't wait to see what they can really do, but I hope the teachers aren't going to put us in anymore life and death situations. You can only tempt the fates so many times before they smack you in the face for not listening to their warnings" Omoi thought.
Hiruzen signaled to Anko it was time for her to begin the third test. "Alright maggots listen up! Hokage-sama will now begin the third section of the Chunin exam by explaining what the test consist of! So give him your utmost attention and listen carefully!" Anko ordered before turning to the Hokage. "Hokage-sama if you please."
Hiruzen cleared his throat before facing the assembled Genin. "Now I like to pass on my own congratulations for making it through the second exam. Before we get to the third exam I believe it is best for you all know the true purpose behind the second test."
"True meaning...?" Temari wondered.
"The second exam was designed to be a replacement for war among the allied shinobi nations. You see when we go into the third exam you will be battling in front of country officials who will judge the strength of the village you are representing. Even though this exam is set up to determine if you are ready to be a Chunin, this test is also a way for you all to uphold you're lands honor and reputation" Hiruzen explained.
"To uphold honor? What are talking about" Karui asked wanting the old man to cut to the point of this speech already so they can move on.
Hiruzen took a puff off his pipe before continuing on. "Yes, to uphold you're nation's honor. As I mentioned before leaders and very influential individuals from other countries will be here to watch you all in action. These leaders and individuals are what help make up the clients that support us as shinobi. If you show weakness then you are poorly representing your nation and coasting them clients, but if you show them you're strength than you are honoring your nation by helping to expand its reputation and help it gain more clients" Hiruzen explained.
"In a sense this consider as a political statement as well to the outside countries. You will demonstrate your strength letting outsiders know my village contains this much power. The stronger a village seems the less likely you will be targeted" Ibiki said stepping in to help with the explanation.
"Yea that's all fine and dandy, but why are we risking our lives for it in battle?!" Kiba yelled.
Hiruzen took another puff of his pipe before he continued. "The strength of the country is the strength of the village. The strength of the village is the strength of the shinobi," he paused before fixing the entire crowd with a deadly serious look. "A shinobi's true strength is only revealed when they are faced in a life risking battle."
Naruko took a gulp feeling the tension in the room rise as did everyone else around her.
"This exam is a place for all the countries to gather together to showcase that strength, but it is also for you all to show your individual strength. It is a test that will test you're resolves and force you to put your dreams on the line just as the shinobi before you have done. Keep that in mind as you all enter the third test. This is not just a test, but a life risking battle with your dreams and your country's prestige on the line" Hiruzen tells them.
"Enough with the talk. Move on to what this so called Life-risking battle entails" Gaara said coldly.
"Yes the third test I like to explain more about it, but..."
"Excuse me Hokage-sama, but as the referee for the remaining section of this test will you allow me Gekkou Hayate *cough* *cough* to take over from here?" a sickly pale man asked as he stepped out from the group of Chunin and Jounin.
"By all means" Hiruzen said.
"Thank you Hokage-sama. *cough* *cough* Umm yes before we start the third test there's something I like to clarify *cough* *cough*" Hayate said coughing into his fist.
"Oh for the love of ramen that guy needs a doctor! How is he even able to stand?!" Naruko thought letting her diagnostic mind take over.
"You see before we can actually start the third test *cough* *cough* you all will be competing in a preliminary round of matches to determine the select few who will move towards the main event" Hayate tells them.
"Why do we need a preliminary round?!" Temari yelled feeling agitated. "Wasn't the first and second test enough already?!"
"Actually *cough* *cough* I believe the first two test this year where too easy for you all. We have more participants then allowed for the final test *cough* *cough* so to reduce the number down we will begin the preliminary round shortly" Hayate tells them.
"I don't understand sensei. Why do we need to cut down the number of participants?" Choji asked.
"With so many leaders coming to watch the third test we can allow matches to run over for so long, so with that being said if any of you *cough* *cough* are not feeling well or feel like you don't have the strength to compete in the third test please step forward now." Hayate requested.
"Well this should be interesting. I wonder how many are going to quit this round." Kabuto thought looking around the room. "Per Orochimaru-sama's request I'm supposed to stay in to weed out weaklings then quit in the second round, but this will be a fine time to gather more research on Sasuke-kun and Naruko-chan seeing as I didn't get all the data I wanted from them in the second test."
"So another pathetic resolve test. If the weak had any pride they eliminate themselves now and same the real fighters the trouble of actually fighting them" Neji thought.
"Gai-sensei, Naruko-chan watch me in the next round as I let my flames of youth burn bright to victory!" Rock-Lee thought determinedly.
"How troublesome...No rest or break from that long pain in the neck trip in the forest. These proctors are no joke and if I even think about quitting I won't hear the end of it from Blue-eyes or Ino. Man what a drag" Shikamaru sighed cursing his luck.
"Alright a one on one fighting round! I'll be able to show off how strong I've become to Papa, Uncle Asuma, and Grandpa!" Naruko thought as she grabbed ahold of her locket. "Grandma Kaede I promise I'm going to do my best and make you proud."
Sasuke felt a flash of pain ripple his body making him silently scream in agony. The pain was getting more intense, but if he showed signs of the curse mark bothering him he'll worry Hinata and catch the sharp eye of the Nara boy. Gritting his teeth tightly Sasuke refused to let the pain get to him as he glared towards Shikamaru. "I'll show you that I have control. I'll protect Hinata and Naruko without you interfering!"
Hinata watched Sasuke with concern filled eyes as she squeezed her hands together tightly. "Sasuke-kun... I hope you're going to be okay."
"Seems like no one is going to back down...I guess I better get this round started then. Seeing as none of you look like you're ready to quit *cough* *cough* we now move on to the first round of the Preliminary round" Hayate announced getting everyone's attention.
Hayate began to walk over to stand in front of a Buddha statue. "For this preliminary round you will all fight in one on one combat single matches *cough* *cough* since we have an even twenty-four participants we will conduct twelve matches. The winners of those matches will move on to the third test *cough* *cough* to determine who will be fighting who and where you're fight will be held will be determined by..." Hayate started to say before breaking into another fit of coughing.
Anko rolled her eyes as she pressed the receiver on her headset. "Open it" she ordered into the device.
Soon a giant screen appeared above the Buddha statue catching everyone's attention. Hayate cleared his throat after recovering from his coughing fit.
"This electronic screen will show the names of the two chosen pair who will fight one another and along with the chosen pair it will choose what battle field you will fight on" Hayate tells them.
"The field? Won't we be fighting in here?" Sakura asked.
"No you will not *cough* *cough* but not to worry I will be with each pair to watch and judge the fight. Before you asked yes you all will be able to watch the fight as well on the screen" Hayate tells them. "Now let us begin, please show us the two names of first fight."
Everyone looked towards the screen and waited patiently as names began to roll across the giant screen. The silence in the room was deafening until a signaling ping was heard announcing the first match up.
"Will the two entrants please step forward" Hayate asked signaling for the two participants to step before him.
Two sets of footsteps moved forward as everyone remained standing in place.
"The first match of the preliminary round will be betweenYoroi Akado and Dosu Kinuta. Are you both ready?" Hayate asked looking between both of the face masked ninja.
"Yes" Yoroi said stiffly.
"Of course I am" Dosu said confidently.
Orochimaru who was disguised as a sound Jounin smirked as he let out a quiet chuckle. "So two of my students against each other in the first round interesting. Sadly Dosu knows the goal of your Jutsu Yoroi-kun so this might not play in your favor."
"The first match is about to begin. Will the rest of you please make your way to the top balcony to watch while the monitor determines the area of the fight?" Hayate said motioning for everyone to head up stairs.
As the floor cleared a wheel appeared on the screen that showed picture of a wheel containing three symbols. One symbol was a leaf, another one was waves and the last one looked like a mountain. The wheel began to spin until it landed on the wave's symbol.
"You two will be fighting in the water area *cough* *cough* Now step into this ring and will begin the match" Hayate said forming a hand seal to make a large summon circle appear on the floor.
When the two fighters stepped within the seal the three disappeared instantly.
"Whoa! What just happened?!" Naruko asked.
"That was known as Shunshin. It's a jutsu we use to get to a location quickly. Hayate's seal is the link between this room and the area you all will be fighting in" Kakashi explains to her.
"That is so cool!" Naruko said excitedly.
"Yes, but pay attention to the screen Naru-Chan the fight is starting" Kakashi advised.
As promised the two fighters appeared on the monitor with Hayate there to supervise. The three of them had appeared on small embankment of land that was surrounded by water. The scene sort of reminded Team seven of when they first fought against Zabuza.
XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX
"If you are both ready you may begin the fight!" Hayate called giving the signal to start.
Dosu started out by uncovering his metal arm piece. "So how do you want me to end this? Quick and painful or slow and agonizing?"
Yoroi coated his hand in chakra as he pulled out a few shuriken and kunai. "I should be asking you that. You were a fool to show off your ability at the beginning of the exam against Kabuto. The little blond ditz who healed up Kabuto's ear mentioned strong sound waves being the thing that damaged him, so as long as I keep distance I'll be safe."
Dosu raised an amused hidden eyebrow. "Oh is that so? Maybe I should have knocked her out before she ran her big mouth, but let's see if you're theory can protect you!" he yelled sending out a burst of sound from his amplifier.
Yoroi seeing the attack coming quickly jumped back performing a few quick hand seals and held his chakra infused hand out in front of him. "Suiton: Hahonryū! (Water Release: Tearing Torrent)"
From his hand appeared a large mass of swirling torrent of water that he sent flying towards the sound blast negating it. Water began to rain down on the two fighters from the recoil of the blast thus Yoroi took the chance to close in on Dosu.
Yoroi moving swiftly through the water was able to appear in front of Dosu and wrapped his hand around Dosu's arm making the other man stumble.
"Looks like they picked the best field that naturally suites me. I can use the water around us as a defense, but also as an offense and for that I was able to get the upper hand on you" Yoroi gloated watching Dosu fall to a knee as he absorbed the chakra from him.
"Wh..what are you doing to me?" Dosu demanded feeling weak.
"Water manipulation jutsu isn't the only thing I can do. I have the ability to absorb chakra. Now let me ask you. Do you want this to end quick and painful or slow and agonizing?" Yoroi said mocking Dosu's earlier statement as he began to absorb the strength from him.
XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX
"That is quite the strategy." Shikamaru commented.
"*munch* What on earth *munch* did he do?" Choji asked snacking on another bag of chips.
"Yoroi has Water Manipulation Jutsu. Judging from his recent jutsu, he released a stream of condensed water which is able to block out the sound waves from Dosu's sound blasts." Shikamaru explained.
"So what you're saying is…" Ino asked.
"This battle has a poor match-up with Yoroi having the advantage thanks to his ability to take away someone's chakra." Shikamaru answered "Guess the guy wasn't as tough as we thought.
Asuma listening to his student's theory gave it a nod of approval. "You have a point there Shikamaru, but you're forgetting the fundamental of science here. True Yoroi has the upper hand at the moment, but if it's a fight between sound and water. Sound is going to win."
Ino and Choji looked between the two in confusion. "What...?"
Asuma smirked at them. "Just keep watching the fight. You'll see what I mean shortly."
XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX
"Orochimaru-sama was right this guy does get too overconfident in battle. I think it's time I showed him were his place is" Dosu thought kicking out Yoroi's leg.
Yoroi gasped as he hit the ground, but quickly jumped to his feet and away from Dosu before he had the chance to strike. "I was trying to do you a favor by ending this quickly, but if you want to drag this fight out then fine!" Yoroi yelled as he performed another session of hand seals. "Magen: Jigoku Kōka no Jutsu! (Demonic Illusion: Descending Hell Technique)"
From the sky a giant ball of fire appeared and began to head straight for Dosu who was literally sweating as the fire ball came in close. Thinking on his feet Dosu dived into the water to escape the fire ball as it hit the ground.
Yoroi smirked as he jumped into the water after the sound ninja. "The fool. He fell for my trap so now it's time to end this" he thought as he performed more hand seals. "Suiton: Daibakuryū! (Water Release: Great Waterfall Flow)
Dosu watched as a giant whirlpool began to surround him making him looked trapped inside the vortex. Yoroi watched as Dosu was tossed and thrown inside his jutsu feeling like he has already won.
As Yoroi floated in the water believing victory was his a sharp ringing was heard in the air and soon the ringing became louder and higher pitched to the point it was causing Yoroi to scream in agony. Yoroi was in a state of panic as he swam to the surface scrambling to get back onto dry land as he withered in pain.
"Wh..What's happening to me?!" Yoroi screamed thrashing around on the ground clutching at his ringing ears.
Dosu who had fended off the whirlpool came back onto the dry land to stand above the wounded man. "You thought you were safe from my sound waves inside the water didn't you? What a fool you we're to believe that. Water conducts sound and with the whole body of water surrounding you it was easy for me to attack you even in the middle of that whirlpool." Dosu mocked as he placed his hand on Yoroi's stomach. "Next time don't belittle my abilities you insect!"
With that being said Dosu used his Resonating Echo drill to finish Yoroi off and completely knocking him out.
Hayate walked over to check and make sure Yoroi was out before standing. "The winner of the first match is Dosu Kinuta" he announced raising Dosu's hand in victory before the three of them were teleported back into the room.
XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX
Asuma smirked as the trio came back into the room. "See didn't I tell you that sound would overcome water?"
"You sure did, Sensei." Choji said realizing that he had run out of chips to eat.
"Well that was a little anticlimactic. So that means the sound ninja got through to the next round" Ino huffed.
Naruko was glaring at the sound guy. "Who the hell does he think he is calling me a big mouth?! Did he forget you knocked his team out teme" she huffed angrily.
"Naru-chan calm down. We know you're not the mean things people say you are" Hinata tells her.
"So don't let it irritate you so easily, Dobe...and let's not talk about that anymore...got it?" Sasuke asked.
Kakashi was watching Sasuke closely as the young Uchiha winced in pain. "If this goes on much longer he'll lose control and if that happens I'll have to pull him out of the exam."
Orochimaru, who was standing across the room, was watching Sasuke with growing amusement. "Soon he won't be able to resist my power and when he gives in he will be mine" he thought excitedly as Dosu rejoined them.
"Congrats on your win though I didn't think you lose to that loser Yoroi" Ken commented.
"Yoroi was an overconfident fool. He needed to learn his sorry place" Dosu said watching Yoroi be stretchered away.
"Well you showed them that we sound ninja are not to be taken lightly" Zaku said with a vicious smirk.
Hayate started coughing vigorously before he cleared his throat. "That concludes our first match. Now please watch the screen as the next pair is revealed." He announced.
The Genin all watched the screen as the names begin to flash across the board. Soon the ping was heard as the pair was chosen.
"Will Temari of the Sand and Ino Yamanaka please step down for the second match of the preliminary round" Hayate called before coughing.
"Looks like you're up Ino. Good luck" Shikamaru tells her while Choji gave her a thumbs up for luck.
"Thanks guys I'll do my best" Ino said as she moved to the main floor.
"Oh look there Temari you got the girl from your crushes team" Kankuro teased.
"Shut the hell up Kankuro!" Temari yelled as she moved down to the main floor.
Naruko was glaring at Temari. "That's the girl who tried to kiss Shika!" "Ino! Kick her butt!" Naruko cheered rooting for her friend.
Temari glared up at Naruko before grinning. "So these guys are friends huh? Well then allow me to show her who she's messing with and what it means to piss me off."
Hayate cleared his throat. "Are you two ready to begin?" He asked as the wheel began to determine their field of battle.
"Yes!" Ino said excitedly.
"Oh yeah I'm ready" Temari said confidently.
The wheel stopped on the mountain symbol. "Then the second match is about to begin!" Hayate said as they teleported out of the room.
Lazyfox: So the preliminaries begin! I have to thank my friend Jurabi for helping me again on the chapter.
Magic: Too bad he missed the beginning entry. I would have loved your help in torching a Four-Eyed teme *puts Kushina's flamethrower away*
Random: Yes I don't think he's going to recover from that one for a while.
Jurabi: Hehe...yeah. Sounded like a blast. :)
Lazyfox: Why doesn't that surprise me that you would have enjoyed it? Considering you enjoy the tale of the evil demon frog that haunts me!
Jurabi: Come on! You made it sound so hilarious in the chat. XD
Lazyfox: It's not hilarious when I'm losing sleep over him! Enough about my frog troubles. I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and are looking forward to the next couple of matches ^w^
Magic: My demon older sister is afraid of a tree frog, haha that's too good!
Jurabi: I know! I imagined her irritating tone when she told me about it.
Lazyfox: *flips them the birdie* Screw you guys.
Jurabi: Such temper...
Magic: She's always been like that
Lazyfox: *glares at them* I'm going to end things here before I go on a rampage. Love you all so please read and review.
Jurabi: Yep, until next time. Also Naruto Live Action was just announced. Bye! *dashes off*
Lazyfox: *eye twitches as shivers run down her spine* The dark days are coming and I'm afraid...so until next time if there is a next time...
Everyone: JAA-NEE!
