"Why on earth wouldn't you tell me something like that?! We share everything Alison." Emily was walking back and forth in the kitchen while Alison was just sitting by the kitchen island with her head in her hands.

"Because it's not a big deal." Alison replied, she must have said that a million times because she feels like a broken record.

"Not a big deal? This guy wants to 'straighten you out in the bathroom'! how is this not a big deal?" Emily was getting red, and Alison was afraid her wife would explode.

"Okay, baby listen to me." Alison got up and walked to her mermaid. "this guy is meaningless, he's stupid, okay? He never touched me, and he never will." She grabbed Emily's hands trying to calm her down.

"You're not going to that school anymore." Emily released herself and moved towards the fridge to grab water.

"Now, that's just ridicules." Alison almost laughed at the idea, but held back so Emily won't get offended.

"I just don't get why you didn't tell me." Emily was clearly hurt.

"Because," Alison started but stopped for some reason.

"Because what?"

"You're busy, okay? You don't have time to deal with this kind of messed up shit. And it's fine. Really, I'm not complaining. Well I try not to. I know how hard you work, and when I do get those two minutes a day to be with you, I don't want to spend it on that asshole."

"How can I protect you when you keep these kind of things from me?" Emily asked, like ignoring what Alison just said.

"I don't need protection."

"god Alison, you're so selfish!" Emily threw the water bottle she was holding, it exploded on the floor.

"and you're a dick!" Ali regretted it the moment it left her mouth.

Emily walked up to Alison, she grabbed both her arms and looked her straight in the eye, "if keeping you safe makes me a dick, then fine. I'm a dick." With that she left the kitchen.

"oh, Pam. That's a lovely story." Hanna said, still laughing. Thanksgiving dinner was going fine. Alison thought it would be a disaster since she and Emily are barely speaking to each other. Emily hasn't said a word to her all day. But her parents don't suspect a thing, which is good for now.

"you have to tell a story of Emily when she was little." Spencer added receiving a nod from her friends.

"no. mom, I don't think that's necessary." Emily said, she hated when her mom told embarrassing stories about her, especially to her friends.

"Emmy, don't be such a party pooper." Wayne said, while Emily rolled her eyes.

"well, let me think of one…" Pam started. "ooh, I got one! When Emily just started first grade, she used to write down everything that happened to her in school. that way, when she got home, she could read her list to me when I asked her about her day." The whole table burst out laughing at the cuteness of Emily. Except for Emily, she didn't really find it funny.

"that is so cute!" aria pointed out. "I wish I could see those lists."

"dear mom, I ate my apple, love Emily." Toby said with his baby voice. Everyone laughed even harder. Emily couldn't help the smile on her face, but that was long gone very soon.

"Well you know me mom, always sharing the things I'm going through with the people I love." Emily said, barely opening her mouth and not breaking eye contact with Alison even for a second. Of course Alison got the hint. But two can play his game.

"hey Pam, why don't you tell us a story about Emily's first time riding her bike, or tying her shoes, you know? Like when she didn't need your help and protection."

Alison replied, not even looking at her mother in law.

"Caleb give me your scissors, cause someone needs to cut the tension between these two."

"Hanna!" spencer and Aria said at the same time.

The room went into a very uncomfortable silence until Wayne decided to break it. "umm.. Are we missing something here?"

"don't worry dad, you'll get used to it. Apparently it's a thing in this house, making people feel left out." Emily grabbed her plate and got up.

"Emily," spencer began.

"Just drop it." she walked out into the kitchen.

Emily was sitting on the front porch bench drinking a beer, in the background were voices of her friends and family laughing and playing games.

"can I join?" she heard her best friend's voice from the door.

"sure." She said and scooted over to make room for Toby. "look, I know I'm overreacting."

"I don't think you're overreacting." He replied, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "I think you're reacting just right."

"really? How so?" Emily said, giggling a bit.

"well, I understand you. If I ever found out someone is trying to hurt Spence, I would have murdered that person in its sleep."

"isn't that the exact opposite of your job? I thought you were supposed to catch killers, not be one." Emily replied, it made the both of them laugh.

"the point is Fields, I get you…. But I also get Alison." Emily looked at him like he was an alien or something. "she misses you, and before you go all crazy on me, hear me out."

"shoot."

"you study, you work, you hand out with your friends. But where does Ali fit in all this? Getting married is one thing, but being married, that's a whole different story. You need to spend more time with her. When was the last time you two had sex?"

"Toby!" Emily was not expecting that question.

"I'm serious, just answer me."

"okay… umm I think two weeks ago." Emily replied, waiting for the point her friend is trying to make.

"you went two weeks with no sex?!" Toby couldn't help his surprise.

"shh.. Lower your voice you idiot. Where are you going with this anyway?"

"Spend. More. Time with her. Maybe then she will tell you what she's going through. And get laid for god's sake."

"thanks for the advise wise pants. Its not like I choose to be away from her, she's all I think about. All day long. It's just that, I try to make everything work, you know? Its just all too much."

"well, I can tell you one thing, you're a wife on top of all that. So I suggest you set you priorities straight."

They heard Spence's voice calling then to come eat desert. "coming!" Toby yelled back.

"I'll come in a few minutes." Emily said as Toby got up, he gave her a little nod and went inside.

"Okay ladies, great work! Hit the showers!" Emily yelled to the girls in the pool. She was so tired, and hated the fact that she had to work on a holiday. But the paper in her bag was about to solve it all, well some of it.

she was sitting in her office by her desk, thinking that she gets to go home soon. And looking through some papers she had to take care of, when she heard a knock on the door.

"hey Fields, I need you to help Lisa with her timing."

"but I get off in five minutes."

"well I'm sure you can squeeze that in. she's waiting by the pool." He was turning to leave when…

"no." Emily replied.

"I'm sorry, what was that?" the coach turned around again.

"I said no. I'm not going to do this now, my shift is done."

"Emily,"

"I'm going home, Frank. Its late and I'm going home. To my wife, who I miss so so much. You can time Lisa yourself." She walked over to her coach and handed him the letter.

He looked up to her with sad eyes, "are you sure?"

"yes. I'm sure. I'm sorry, but I'm a wife on top of everything. And my wife needs me now."

As she walked into the bedroom, Emily found her love sleeping, spreading her legs and arms all over their bed. She walked over and sat on the bed, beside her wife.

"Hey, you're home." Alison woke up to Emily's touch.

"That's right baby, I'm home." Emily bent down to kiss Alison's lips.

"what time do you leave tomorrow?" Alison asked.

"umm I'm not going to work tomorrow, I quit."

"what?" Alison sat up and looked at her mermaid. "but you love your job."

"I love you more. Its just not worth it Alison. All the fighting, and not having sex…" Alison smacked Emily arm. "oww!"

Alison pulled Emily close and whispered in her ear. "Shut up and kiss me."
