Bella's POV
This day has been a long time coming, but its finally here. We had just split up and left the kids in an area that Felix said isn't used for the most part. It was just a hallway that ended abruptly which was perfect for what we needed for the kids. They needed a place where they were out of the way and yet could protect themselves if necessary.
With their gifts they were safer than any of the vampires going into the fight. We would have to fight our way to the throne room. Once there most of the guard would either be on our side or eliminated. We planned on holding a trial and it would be a fair one. Then the punishment would be decided and then carried out.
The kids would come in after we entered the throne room and would be there to stop any gifted vampires from using their gifts and they would also be there as a show of power. While the Volturi had many dangerous, gifted guard members that served them, no one was a match for the kids as a group.
As a mom I wanted my babies no where near any of the Volturi. As a warrior I knew that my kids were smart, brave and lethal if necessary. They could take down their foe and with the exception of Adara they all had what their dad referred to as "A warrior's heart." She was the only one I worried for.
Her gift only showed up when she became really angry. We had worked with her daily and the only thing she could control was to make sure it didn't hit the wrong vampire and burn up a loved one. She could aim it at just one person if she wanted, but it still took her getting angry, which was hard to do.
Her dad had to use his gift to get her to be angry enough for the fire to show itself. She had a few close calls and that made her more determined to learn how to control where it went. With her dad's help the fire would show up and then she learned to direct it to where ever she wanted it to go.
I couldn't think about that right now. We were on the south side of the castle. Jasper was on the north, Char on the west and Garrett on the east. We had seen how the castle was set up and the throne room was in the very center. That's where the brothers would be.
Each of us had about fifteen vampires and would fight and destroy any guards that we came across. If they were on our side they would immediately join us and help kill any guards in our way. It seems though that Carlisle had a secret weapon, one we hadn't even thought about at the time.
When we showed up at the airport there were sixteen huge boys. I knew they were native Americans and I had heard how they were shape shifters. Apparently Carlisle had spoken to the alpha, Sam and he had spoken to the elders. They wanted to help us to make sure that the monsters that ruled our world were destroyed.
Each group would have four wolves with us. Edward would keep us informed of when each group reached the throne room, with mom's help of course. She could use his gift and send all of us the information. No one would attempt to go into the throne room until we were all there. My group would get there first, only because my shield would keep the brothers from knowing we were there until we were ready to go in.
Jasper gave the signal and mom relayed via Edward's gift to proceed. The side we went in was well guarded and the fighting started immediately. Everyone of us would check the others when we had a few seconds in case someone needed help. I was able to use my shield to keep the others from even having to fight. I just crushed the vampires coming at us.
The further in the castle we went the more vampires seemed to show up to fight us. We had about six vampires for each one of us. I was able to kill more than just one at a time without even touching them. What I didn't take into account is that now that we were further in, vampires were now coming in from behind us as well as the front.
I suddenly felt myself being knocked into by four huge vampires. I managed to kill one and grab another by the throat and ripped his head off. Unfortunately by the time I had done that one of the four had me by the neck and the other one had his fucking teeth sunk into my shoulder.
I heard the sound of ripping vampire and felt the arm holding me by the neck release me and then the other one was gone. Peter who had apparently been ordered to watch my back extra carefully had seen that I was in trouble and came to my aid. When he saw my shoulder he said, "Oh shit, the Major is gonna kick my ass for lettin' you get bitten."
I told him, "Better bitten than dead Peter. He'll be happy that you saved my life."
We kept up the fighting while going further into the castle and after about forty minutes made it to the doors of the throne room. I kept my shield up around all of us. We made sure to try to stay out of sight. We needed to make sure the bastards didn't try to run. There was only one way out of the throne room and that was through the doors we were watching.
About five minutes later Char's group came and joined us. They hadn't had as much trouble, but had to go through a much more complex maze of hallways than we did. A few seconds later Garrett's group joined us as well. They had lost a few of their fighters. They had been overwhelmed and Garrett said something that made me frightened, "They came out of nowhere. There were way more than there should have been. It was like they knew there was going to be an attack and even where to have guard members waiting. I swear, they were waiting for us."
It was an hour from the time that we had started moving into the castle before Jasper's group finally showed up. Edward and mom both were in his group. Although mom didn't actually do much fighting as she is still half human. I was looking for my mate but I couldn't see him anywhere.
I asked Edward where Jasper was. He said that he had run after a guard and told him to go on ahead and get to the throne room, he would catch up. I felt the icy cold grip of fear starting to surround me. I asked Edward why in the fuck he would leave him alone.
He explained that he did follow him when he was able to. He saw that Jasper had dismembered the guard and was burning him. So since he didn't hear any other thoughts around Jasper he did as Jasper asked him to. He told Edward that he had changed his mind and was going to run ahead and make sure the other groups made it and to make sure that the group got through alright. He was worried about me.
Edward was shocked that Jasper wasn't here with us. I was reminded by Peter that Jasper was too good to get killed and that we needed to go ahead and go into the throne room. I could feel Jasper deep inside of me and knew that he was alive, so as if we were a single entity we moved into the throne room.
As soon as we walked in Aro stood up and then fucking smiled at me, "Ah, Isabella I see you finally decided to join us. We have been waiting quiet a while for your little band of traitors to come in. We have been expecting you."
I moved to attack and Caius spoke up, "I wouldn't do anything rash Isabella. As a matter of fact, you need to all stand back and we can then start the trial for you and your soldiers. Of course we already know that you are guilty of trying to destroy the Volturi, we only need to decide how we will kill all of you."
Peter went to move, but stopped when the door to the throne room opened. In walked what I called a living nightmare in the form of Demetri, the worst part of it was in his arms was my baby girl Adara. She was being very brave and not crying or even trying to struggle.
"As you can see I now have your children. All of them. I'm only allowing this one so that she can explain some things to you and the other traitors. Then we'll start with your trial." Aro spoke sternly.
Unfortunately it was hard to hear him over all of the growls coming from our group. I was seeing red, how dare that piece of shit touch my baby. And where was Jasper? I was about to lose it when Aro spoke up, "Isabella I see that you are wanting to attack. Before you do you might want to listen to your daughter. I believe she has somethings to tell you. Demetri let the child go so she can speak with her mother."
He let her go and she ran into my arms. She was really upset. I just held her trying to calm down, when the door opened up again and in came the rest of the kids. They were surrounded by at least ten vampires and they were told to walk to the front and not to speak with anyone.
I couldn't figure out why they hadn't used their gifts against these monsters. When the kids looked at me I could see fear, sadness and worry in their eyes. I had a feeling that it had to do with my missing mate.
Adara finally got control and started telling me what had happened. Aro and Caius had shown up and told them to go quietly with them. They had their dad and I and would kill us both if they didn't go with them without using their gifts. To prove that they were speaking the truth they showed the kids the hand that belonged to their father. They recognized it right away from the wedding band on the ring finger.
It was the same hand that Aro was now holding up for me to see. Adara had more to tell me. When the kids got to where they were being taken, they saw their dad. Apparently he had been taken and had not fought the guards because they told him they had his kids and would kill them if he didn't come quietly.
At this point he was brought in. He wasn't struggling and I knew that he would rather die than to do anything to cause harm to come to his children. Aro told him to get on his knees and then told me to do the same.
I did as I was told and went to be next to my husband and mate. I too went to my knees. Then Aro addressed everyone there stating that the trial has begun. Then the Cullen's were all told to join us on their knees as they were on trial as well. They did as told and even in the midst of facing our death, there was no fear except for our childrens welfare. I could only hope that we had trained them well.
I closed my eyes and that was the signal. You see, a long time ago there were some vampires that joined us. They wanted to help us wipe out the Volturi. That's what they told us. Peter and Jasper both suspected that they weren't being totally honest with everyone, but kept quiet except for a very select few.
It turns out that they were spies for Aro. He knew our plans and that we were alive. He knew about the kids and even about Bia. He knew everything, although I do believe that he was hoping that his vast army would overwhelm us and destroy enough of us that we would fail in bringing them down.
Aro stated that for treason and trying to destroy the Volturi Jasper was to be killed. I was included as his mate and was to die as well. When I closed my eyes I suddenly heard Aro gasp and then heard something being dropped. It was Jasper's hand and suddenly all of the kids including Tori were standing together in front of us.
Tori used her gift to throw Aro away from Jasper's hand and then went to retrieve it. She was quick and brought it to Jasper. Then Rhett, being a gifted speaker, took over, "Aro, Caius and Marcus, for being monsters and conducting experiments that were truly monstrous you are hereby being sentenced to death. The same sentence you handed down to our parents. They have done nothing wrong except try to stop monsters from ruling the vampire world.
You forced or tried to force our parents to create a child in the hopes of gaining some powers. Well, they did create not just one, but five of us and everyone of us has a gift. There is one very important thing that you should always remember when doing experiments to create something; always make sure that you can control the experiments, as well as the very thing you have created.
Well, here we are and behold that which you wanted for your own gain is now the means to destroy that which you love so dearly, your kingdom."
Not another word was said for a minute, but each child was using their gift or gifts on every vampire except Adara. The three brothers were starting to panic and were watching as each offensive gift was being used to bring down guard members.
Once it was just our group I watched as my husband and mate was joined by Felix and myself. I was going to fucking rip Demetri apart and this time I would burn his ass. Jasper lunged at Aro and all I could see was a blur. Suddenly Felix had Caius and was ripping him apart slowly. I went after Demetri.
He crouched down and we circled each other. He was much weaker than most male vampires because if something is missing from a vampire's body it would always leak venom for the most part and that makes them weaker.
He lunged at me and I just flipped up and over his head and kicked him in the back as I came down. I had him pinned quickly after that and was ripping him apart when I was suddenly knocked over. What in the fuck is it with these assholes knocking me down today?
I felt the teeth bite into the flesh of my thigh. Once again I felt the vampire being knocked off of me. Peter again had come to my rescue. Unfortunately it almost cost Jasper his life. He was now fighting Aro and two other vampires. They were almost as good as he was, but when I got bitten it distracted him and he had a leg ripped off.
I went to jump into the fight. Peter told the others not to interfere, we needed to end this ourselves. He knew us, knew Jasper very well. I was about to lunge when I heard something that would have scared me had it been aimed at me.
"You hurt my dad. You are trying to hurt my mom and my whole family." It was Adara and she was angry; angrier than I have ever seen her. She was also crying.
It only took a second for the fire to spring up and it moved quickly towards Aro. Caius had already been taken care of, but Demetri still needed to be burned. We watched as Aro realized he was about to die at the hands of a gifted "experiment".
He caught fire quickly and we all watched in silence as he burned. Adara moved the fire to what was left of Demetri. Now there was only Marcus to deal with. Unfortunately for him he had been loyal to Aro only because of Chelsea's fake bonds. She had been dealt with already by Char I believe.
In the end it was decided to spare Marcus as long as he wasn't going to continue Aro's sick experiments. He had never wanted any part of them, but couldn't stop him because of the bond Chelsea had created between him and Aro.
Carlisle would work with Marcus until they could figure out how to set up a new order of things. There had to be some kind of ruling government in order to keep most of the vampires from revealing ourselves to humans.
The worst part of the whole thing was both Jasper and I having to fight our natural instincts. We had both been injured and I had been bitten by two male vampires. We were both needing to claim each other and check out our wounds. We had the kids to tend to though. Luckily none of them even had a scratch on them.
Carlisle, bless his heart, knew what we needed and after a couple of hours making sure the kids were alright he sent us off to go "hunting" although food is NOT what we were hunting for. We just needed to be with each other and make sure that we were okay.
There was one thing that was bothering me though and of course my mate picked up on it right away. Adara, sweet little, cute Adara had killed a vampire. Not just any vampire, but the main ruling vampire. I was so fucking worried that this could destroy her innocence.
Jasper was worried as well, but in the end our instincts won out and we took care of each other. One thing was for sure, I loved this man, this vampire more than I ever thought it was possible to love anyone. I made sure to show him just how much over the next few hours. . .
A/N Please tell me your thoughts. Before anyone goes off wanting to know who the spies were, they were unknown vampires. If you want more information I'll deal with it in the next chapter which is the epilogue by the way. Just let me know if you do want me to deal with them. Oh, and I will be telling more of what was going on in the next chapter as well, I'm sure you picked up on things that hadn't been mentioned before the fight. Once this story is finished then I'll work on Seattle Nights and maybe start posting my new story. Not sure yet about when I'll post it as I want to get at least one more chapter done and I still need to fine tune the second chapter.
