Bella's POV

The kids looked to be about three or four years old, but had the intelligence of young adults. Of course their brains were half vampire so they were a lot smarter than most humans. They could read, write and had learned to speak Spanish as well as Italian and were in the process of learning German.

They grew every day and we had to keep buying clothes for them. I was so proud of my family. Jasper has mellowed to a point, but he's still my badass vampire. We have talked about him turning me, but right now I just want to spend time with the kids. I don't want to miss out on a year of their lives. Peter keeps telling us that I won't have any problems being around them so we finally came to a decision to have him change me when they are a year old.

Of course we still have the fucking Cullens and especially Edward to deal with and we're still hiding from the Volturi. One day I expected them to catch up to us. I wasn't worried though because if anyone would survive it would be the kids. Josh's gifts could protect and destroy and joined with Brianna's gift they couldn't touch us. Jasper, Peter and even Ethan had been working everyday with them training them to know when, how, what and who to use their gifts on.

Brianna would pick up a boulder and throw it in the air. Josh would then use his shield thingy and crush it in mid air. You could almost feel the raw power of their gifts while watching as they defended themselves. Yet it also made my heart grow cold with fear. Not fear of their deaths, but fear that somehow the Volturi would get a hold of them and force them to work in their guard.

I had been thinking about that and decided that it would probably be for the best if I was turned now. As a human I would be an easy target and they could grab me and use me as leverage. As a vampire it wouldn't be so easy. I could at least attempt to fight them. I planned on telling Jasper this evening after the kids went to bed.

I wanted at least one more day as a human to be with them and then, if all went according to plan, Jasper would bite me tomorrow night after making love to me one last time as a human. Once I was more controlled then we would be making the journey to deal with fucking Edward and the Volturi.

It wasn't our plan to fight them. We would speak to them and hope that with Marcus and his gift there, the truth would come out. I was not his mate and Alice wasn't Jasper's. With me being turned there shouldn't be a problem. Of course we would have to try to hide the kids and hope that Aro wouldn't read Jasper or any of the others. Of course I could probably use my gift to keep him out of their heads. I already knew he couldn't read me.

I have a feeling though that something is about to happen. Peter has been almost desperate to teach the kids what to do in case the Volturi show up. They of course would follow our lead, but had been given secret signals that would tell them what to do without having to be told. One signal would tell Josh shield up around just them while another would be to cover all of us. Then another one was for Josh to throw his shield out and then another one would tell Brianna to move either one or all of them or us.

They knew without even having to look at whomever was giving the signals who it was for and what they were to do. There was also a signal that told them to run and another one that told them to do nothing. We all understood that the most important thing was to make sure the kids were protected and we also knew that we would have to face Volturi eventually. None of us expected it to be as soon as it actually was though.

I was sitting with the kids while they went through a lesson on the computer to learn how to do calculus when the others came running into the house, fear evident on all of their faces. They were on their way. Somehow they had found us. Jasper came straight to me and pulled me into his arms and held me tightly. He spoke softly to the kids and told them to shut down the computer and then stand behind us, the Volturi were almost here.

He tried to get me to stay in the house with the kids, but I told him that no matter what my place was at his side. So all of us went out to meet them. We knew that no matter what since they were already in the area that we couldn't hide the kids and it would be dangerous to even try. I told the kids that no matter what happens they were to protect themselves and to obey everything they are told to do without question.

Ethan explained that he could see them coming while up in a tree with his daughter watching his mate hunt. There were at least twenty that he had seen and knowing how the Volturi operate went to check out the other side of the house. He then knew that we were surrounded completely. There was no way out for any of us.

As soon as they came into view I recognized Felix, Jane, Alec and Demetri. Immediately I made the signal for Josh to put his shield up around all of us. There was no fucking way that either Jane or Alec was going to use their gifts on us. Josh looked to his father and Jasper nodded his agreement.

Jasper had never met any of the Volturi so he didn't know who was who, but he knew of their gifts. I had never given a signal to the kids so Josh wanted to check to make sure that it was what his father wanted him to do. I knew that neither of their gifts would work on me, but I wasn't strong enough to shield anyone else.

Once we were surrounded by the guard Jane stepped forward a little and spoke up, "Bella, I see that you are still human. Aro will be interested to know that. It has taken us a long time to find you, but thanks to Alice she was able to see the Major at some point. He had to have been alone or at least without Bella because she could not only see him, but see the name of the town he was in.

After that it was only a matter of getting enough guard members together to come and capture you. Although I tried to tell Aro that this many wouldn't be necessary since I could just use my gift on you Major. I see that you took what you wanted Major and that you have bred hybrids. I'm sure that Aro will enjoy having some new toys to experiment with."

Jasper along with Peter and Char started growling. Jane did her fucking staring shit and I knew that she was trying to use her gift on them. Of course it wasn't getting through. She had that stupid fucking smile on her face like she was going to enjoy causing pain to such dangerous vampires as my Major and Peter. It quickly changed into a frown and then anger.

She then motioned to Alec who sent his shit out, but of course it had no effect either. I wasn't an empath, but it didn't take one to know that they weren't feeling so confident now. I could even see that some of the guard members were starting to back up just a little. I guess that they are scared of what the Major can do to them.

Felix then stepped forward and spoke, "Bella, I'm glad to see that you're still alive. I'm sure that if you will come with us that we can get you away from these monsters and back to your mate without any need for violence. I'm guessing that the children are yours and I'm sorry that we couldn't get here sooner to stop this monster known as the Major from forcing himself on you. Just come to us and we'll leave them alone."

It was my turn to growl and I felt the Major trying to push me behind him, but I wasn't going to let him. I managed to get around him and told Felix and the rest of the guard exactly what I thought about his little plan, "Fuck NO! There is no fucking way in hell that I'm going back to that asshole! He's not my mate, he never was, nor will he ever be. Jasper here is. I love him and he has claimed me as such. Here is his mark."

I pulled my shirt to the side so that his bite mark could be seen. I knew that they would understand. Only vampires who have found their true mate will mark them. Its instinctive and its the only sure way of knowing when a pair are truly mated. I learned all of this talking to Peter, Char and even Ethan and Beth added to it. I had seen the same bites on Carlisle, Esme, Emmett and Rose. At the time I had thought they were the bites that had turned them.

Felix turned and said something to Jane and then turned back around and said, "Then we have a problem. Edward has made the official claim that you are indeed his mate and that the Major here stole you and refuses to bring you back. You also Major have been claimed to be the mate of Alice Cullen. We will need to take you back so that the Kings can hold a trial. Marcus of course will need to be there to judge who is indeed mated to whom. If you will volunteer to come with us back to the Cullens then we can await the King's arrival and hold the trial there.

I will promise you Miss Bella that nothing will happen to any of this coven. I will also promise that neither Jane nor Alec will be allowed to use their gifts on anyone. Although I am interested in how you have caused their gifts to become useless. I will not ask though as I wish to only bring you back. I would also like to meet the Major. I have been a secret admirer of yours for many years sir and I would see it as an honor to escort your coven safely to the Cullens. If you will come peacefully with us then you can set the rules for us around the children. Its easy to see that they are indeed yours. Please sir?" He said the last part looking expectantly at Jasper.

I was totally shocked because I expected that Jasper would at least wish to speak to the others and ask their opinion, but instead he turned to me and said, "Isabella, I am your mate and we know this. I do not need to prove this to anyone, but I also know that you do care about the Cullens. The decision should be yours. If you don't wish to go then I will fight to the death to stop them from takin' you and our kids. I can't and won't speak for the others, but they can do as they wish. Just know that I will fight if you say no."

Peter immediately stepped up and said that he would stand with the Major. Then Char did the same and then Ethan, Beth and even Carly joined us. I saw the kids talking among themselves before Josh started towards us along with his sisters and joined as well telling his father that they would help us fight if that's what I wanted.

I knew that if we didn't go the Cullens could very well be killed for their part in bringing me into the world of vampires and making false claims. While I did want to see Edward suffer for everything, at the same time I didn't want the others to be hurt.

I also knew that my mate would indeed die if necessary to save me. That thought alone made me feel that we should go with them. They couldn't hurt the kids or us. Josh's gift didn't need his concentration and it didn't grow weak. He just put it up and then went on about his life. There had been times that we had to remind him to bring it down.

I could see Felix tense when the others had stepped forward and the guard members were awaiting his orders. I also saw Jane and her fucking brother both with evil smiles on their faces. I knew exactly how to wipe those smiles off, "Felix, we will go back with you as long as you can assure us that Jane and her brother will not be a danger to our children. Although as already demonstrated their gifts are useless, I want them to stay far away from us and the kids.

Also, as you already know I haven't been turned yet and so I ask that you give us a day or two. I need to get some supplies and make sure that there is food and clothes for the children. I also need to have some time with my mate alone and our children. If we are to get a death sentence for being mated or for anything else that we may or may not have done then we will need this. Will this be acceptable?"

"You can have twenty-four hours and no more. I will inform Aro that we will all be with the Cullens in two days. I'll also need to arrange transport. We will stay out here and if anyone has to go anywhere they will have an escort."

Jasper then spoke up and told Felix, "I will arrange for our own transport. I will get one of those travel RV's so that there will not be a great need to stop. It will have everything needed for the trip. You and some of your guard can ride with us for your own piece of mind. Is this acceptable?"

It was agreed and everyone relaxed except for Jane and Alec who both wanted to argue with Felix. It seems that while Jane and Alec were in charge to a degree it was Felix who ultimately made the final decisions. It pissed me off when Jasper invited Felix to come inside and on this at least Jane, Alec and I all agreed.

Until Jasper whispered, "Darlin' there's an old sayin' among fighters. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. While I don't really see Felix as an enemy it would be wise to make him a friend. He would be less likely to go against us in case we don't come out of this without punishment."

Jasper did indeed spend the next twenty-four hours talking to Felix and getting to know him. He also allowed him to interact with the children and they in turn seemed to like him as well. He even went so far as to allow the kids to ride him like a horse. At one point he did tell Jasper that he knew what he was doing, but he said that had it been him in Jasper's place that he would probably do the same thing.

Felix also watched Jasper and I when I was around. I knew he was watching to see if we really were mates. We had gone out and found a really huge RV and had paid cash for it. There were actually two sleeping areas. Jasper said that he and I would take the one in the back and the kids would either sleep with me or they could pull out the couch and sleep on it.

Jane and Alec would take the guard and head back to the Cullens. They tried to argue with Felix and he eventually called Aro who agreed that it be alright if he and two of the guard members went with us. The brothers would be flying in and would probably be there by the time we got there. Felix also had to call the guard that had stayed with the Cullens to let them know that it was about to get extremely crowded.

Of course he said nothing about the kids, but even I could hear Edward screaming to let him talk to me. Josh looked at me and actually asked me if I had ever been in love with the screaming banshee. I told him yes and then he said that he was so glad that he wasn't his father.

I was too. If Edward had been their father then it wouldn't have been Josh, Brianna and Katelyn. I didn't even want to try to imagine a life without them or Jasper in it. He's still an asshole sometimes, but he's my asshole and he has changed in that now he knows what love really is. He's even more dangerous now, but not to his family or his coven members.

So here we are finally on our way to either being free from all of the bullshit of Edward or being killed. One thing that all of us knew for sure, our kids would survive no matter what, but one thing I was determined about and that is that Edward Cullen would pay dearly even if it killed me. . .
