~ "Were we… I mean… Have we ever been more than…than just friends?" ~
55) Debate
Terra wished that he'd come here a little bit earlier, so that he knew what Aqua and Ven were arguing about. He may have amnesia, bu he wasn't stupid; he knew that they were hiding something from him. Something big by the looks of it too. The way they had looked when he'd made his presence known; startled, like two deers caught in the headlights.
Even now she seemed to be very cautious, clearly wondering what he wanted from her. Not that he could blame her for that last part, though; he probably would've acted the same way if the roles had been reversed.
"We've been best friends for a long while, right?" Terra eventually asked.
"Yes, we have," she replied, carefully.
"I have a few questions. Would you mind answering those for me?"
"Oh… sure."
Clearly, she had not been expecting this.
Terra took a piece of paper out of one of his pockets. He'd scribbled down a list of questions, scared that he might forget them all by the time he got here if he didn't write it all down. Judging by the way Aqua eyed the list, his deed was very out of character compared to what the old Terra would do.
The questions he had varried from "How did we meet?" to really important questions like...
"Why does Stitch like me so much?"
Aqua had to laugh at the that. She shrugged, replying truthfully. "Honestly, I wish I knew. I let you babysit on him once and when I came back you seemed to have become buddies."
"I see." Terra's eyes then fell on the violin case in the corner of the room. "How long have you been playing the violin?"
Aqua seemed to be taken aback by this personal question. "Uhm... I started when I was four, if I recall correctly."
He nodded thoughtfully. "I see. So then you're pretty good at it, right?"
Aqua smiled. "I'm better at it than you are, if that's what you mean."
This earned her a faint upturn of the lips, along with a perfect roll of the eyes. He debated asking his next two questions to Aqua, but in the end, Terra decided to go with it. The sooner this was out of his system, the better.
"Why do I have a scar on my back?" he blurted out.
"You fell when you were showing off, teaching Ven a thing or two about skateboarding," was the simple answer.
"Oh…"
That must have been one of his more awkward memories. Good thing he didn't remember what else happened that day.
"Were we… I mean… Have we ever been more than…than just friends?"
Aqua frowned. Him asking this could only mean one thing: he knew. Or at least he was suspecting that something had happened.
"Uh, no…" she said, shaking her head. "Why do you ask?"
"Oh... No reason really. I should go now."
Before she could say anything else, Terra got up abruptly and left the apartment, leaving Aqua more confused than ever.
A/N: Next chapter: "Maybe he's having feelings for you? Under every mask lies a deep secret, after all."
