62) Three

Terra crossed his arms over his chest, showing a defensive body language. "I don't know what you're talking about."

He was lying, and his cousin seemed to know that too.

"Then I'll explain it to you. You used to be with the three of you, but now I only seem to catch you in the act of hanging out with Aqua. Alone."

Terra's frown deepened at that; he did not like Zack's accusing tone of voice.

"And what's so bad about that?"

"If I didn't know any better, I would say that Aqua was your fiancée and Kairi didn't even exist for you. Aqua is a wonderful person, we all know that. Therefore, you should be careful not to hurt her in the process of whatever it is you're doing these days," Zack explained patiently.

Suddenly the brunet realized why his cousin had summoned him. Of course he was more worried about Aqua's wellbeing than Terra's.

What he said was probably right, but Terra still fought back childishly. "And what makes you think I'm one of those stereotype jerks who goes out of his way to hurt people? I thought you of all people knew me better than that."

"I'm not thinking anything of the sort," Zack quickly said, raising his hands. "I'm just warning you, because if there's anyone who doesn't deserve to be hurt after everything she's done for you, it's Aqua. You know that as well as I do."

"Yeah, well, if I didn't know any better, I'd think that you were in love with her," Terra spat back.

Zack let out an impatient sigh at that. "Look, Terra. I'm a good friend of her too and I just don't want her to get hurt. And if you even do as much as upset her, I won't hesitate to kick your butt, Mister, even if I'm younger than you and even if you're my cousin. And the same could be said about that Vanitas figure. I don't know that much about this guy, but he seems to like Aqua just as much as she likes him."

This left Terra with an even sourer mood, if that was possible. Why did everyone always have to mention Vanitas?

"Is there anything else left for you to lecture me about? 'Cause I have more things to do today," Terra growled.

As soon as Zack told him that that was all, he headed towards the exit and left.

So much for hoping that at least his cousin would understand the current situation he was in.
