Peter's POV

I couldn't believe this shit. Somehow Maria had found out at least the area and sent more of her minions to try to capture the Major and bring him back. Unfortunately for them they just happened to cross him right after he had destroyed those responsible for hurtin' his mate. His only thought right now was to get back to her quickly. That just means that he won't be pussy footin' around in dealin' with these assholes.

It was the one I recognized as Miguel who spoke up first, "Fancy meeting you here Major. I'm sure that you have missed our mistress very much. She has missed you so very much that she sent her best to bring you back to her waiting arms. So you can either come with us now or we will simply destroy your friends here and take you back anyway. Its your choice, come with us willingly or your friends die."

The problem is that Miguel has a gift. Unfortunately its one that we can't fight. He can paralyze any vampire and he can do it to a group of vampires as well. That means that unless we get some help the Major will be meetin' up with the bitch from hell. I'm sure she'll make sure his punishment is a long, harsh and extremely painful one.

I knew the second his fuckin' gift touched me as I was frozen. I was completely aware of everything goin' on, but I couldn't do a fuckin' thing about it and judgin' by the way that no one with us was movin', I'd say that all of us were under his gift. That meant that we were in some serious trouble.

What happened next though was even more surprisin'. One minute we're fuckin' frozen and the next thing is that I'm feelin' like something is touchin' me. Something that I can't see, hear, smell or touch, yet its touchin' me. Its almost like an invisible curtain fallin' gently over me.

Suddenly I could move again. So could the rest of us. We followed the Major's lead by not movin. Now when a vampire or group of vampires are under Miguel's gift they can talk, but they just can't move their bodies.

The Major started laughin'. I'd know that laughter anywhere. It wasn't because he was laughin' at a joke, then again maybe he was. The joke bein' on the one he's laughin' at. It was his laughter that someone thought they could mess with him and get away with it. He's still beyond pissed and so their deaths won't be pretty or slow. He needs to get back to his mate.

"I'm not goin' back. Not now! Not ever! I would rather die than to go back to that fucked up shit that she said is normal. Maybe its normal for her, but not for me. Now I'm gonna give you one chance to fuckin' back up and run back to the bitch. If you think you can take me then by all means give it your best shot. Just lettin' you know, we'll show no mercy. Rose, how about you run home and take care of things there? I don't cotton to females in a fight, but its your choice and I don't want to see you get hurt."

"Not gonna happen Jasper. You taught me to fight and even you have to admit that you need a little help here. I'm staying." Was her reply.

Edward, who had no fightin' experience might be a problem, but I knew that Jasper wasn't gonna make him run home. I think he needed to vent some of the rage that they both were feelin'. These twenty soldiers wouldn't be much of a problem. On Jasper's signal everyone spread out and got into a fightin' crouch. Miguel was shocked and actually backed up a few feet, the fear evident on his face.

We were startled on both sides by three more vampires joinin' us. Esme, Carlisle and Char showed up. Oh fuckin' shit! They left Alice with the three turnin'. That was gonna make Jasper go ballistic when he figures out that she stayed with his mate. He didn't trust her. Better for the upcomin' fight though. I just hope that he's not distracted too much. He's never had a reason to be distracted until now.

We had no chance to ponder why they had left Alice with Bella as the soldiers attacked. Unfortunately for Miguel he attacked the Major and with his bein' so pissed it only took him a minute to have the vampire in pieces. He had never been that good of a fighter. His gift was what made Maria keep his ass around.

Surprisingly the rest of the Cullens joined in. The soldiers were indeed Maria's best, but because the Major was usin' his gift the fight was over almost before it began. Next to Jasper, Miguel was Maria's second favorite and this wasn't gonna be good when she realizes that her best soldier is now burnin'.

Now normally when the Major is facin' a group like this and its us fightin' he won't use his gift unless one of us is bein' overwhelmed by numbers. He likes a fair fight and that means no gifts bein' used. This time it was different in more ways than one. First, there were fighters that he knew weren't as good as we are and a couple were females. Now I know it might sound a little screwed up, but Jasper has no problem lettin' Char fight with us. She's as good a fighter as we are and she can hold her own. The second thing is Alice is with his mate.

While we don't understand how the Cullens knew to come help, nor do we understand how Miguel's gift seemed to suddenly stop workin', we weren't gonna question it in the face of the enemy. As soon as the last one was dead, Char started a fire and every part was thrown in. If Jasper didn't get the right answers to his questions these soldiers wouldn't be the only ones ripped apart, that much I knew just by lookin' at him.

As soon as the last body part was in the fire the Major rounded on Carlisle, "Why are you here? Why would you fuckin' leave my mate with Alice. She's convinced that she's my mate and she might just kill Bella to keep me. Didn't you think of that? I fuckin' told you I didn't want her left alone with Bella."

"You know about her gift of being able to see the future? She saw all of you being frozen and then ripped apart. Everyone would have been burned except for you Jasper. You would have been taken back to Maria and it wouldn't end well for you. Bella would have woken up to you missing and would have become uncontrollable, especially when she found out that Maria had taken you back.

She would have gone on a rampage and ended up being killed by the Volturi for exposing what she is to humans while looking for you. You too would have then died because the Volturi understand that to destroy one mate means the other must be destroyed as well. The only good thing to come out of all of this is that Maria's reign of terror would have been stopped. She would have been killed for separating mates.

I trust Alice. I admit that she was under the assumption that you were her mate, but Esme, Rose, and Char all had a talk with her and even though its supposed to be a private thing between mates, they explained the process and about the pull. They questioned her visions and it would seem that what she saw can happen; it was only a friendship between you and her that she saw. She has visions yes and they are accurate for the most part, but she can't always understand what exactly it is that she is seeing. She admitted that she never saw the two of you kissing, but you did hug her, nor did she see you ever being intimate with her. It was only a friendship and she misunderstood the vision. She wants to apologize to both of you. I only ask that you at least listen to her."

I watched as Jasper thought about what he had been told. He nodded to Carlisle that he would listen to her. My knower was tellin' me that there was more to it than even Carlisle knew. It was somethin' big, but I also knew that right now both Jasper and Edward needed their mates close to them. Even if they couldn't hear or talk to them just their presence would be enough to calm them down.

Jasper took off to get back to Bella. Char and I would stay behind to make sure the fire finished the job and that it went out. I knew that Maria wouldn't stop. She would keep on comin' until either her or Jasper were dead. Of course now she would have to try to find us once we moved and we were doing just that in a few hours. All anyone would find is ashes. I don't know if Carlisle or Esme understands, but I know the Major will get them to see reason, but their very nice house needed to be burned as well. If they can't find their scents, then they can't follow the family.

Jasper's POV

I got back to the house before the others did. Edward was right behind me and we both made it back to the sides of our mates quickly. Nothin' had changed except that both Edward and I had dirt and venom on what was left of our clothes. Alice told us to go and get cleaned up and then she wanted to talk to me. She was bein' honest and said that she would sit with our mates and Charlie until I was back. She was beamin' like she was really fuckin' proud of someone or something.

I quickly made use of the shower in the room they were in and Alice said that there were some clothes in the closet. I didn't like that she was bein' nice, but I could feel no deceit comin' from her. The clothes were in my size and fit perfectly. Some I wouldn't touch, but there were jeans and t-shirts as well as cowboy boots. I made quick work of dressing as I needed to be with Bella.

Edward came in right after I sat down next to Charile in the chair that had been put there. He sat down next to Lillian and took her other hand. Alice then pulled up a chair next to mine and sat down. I couldn't really take Bella's hand because it was in Charlie's so I settled with reachin' over and placin' my hand on top of hers and Charlie's hands.

Alice then started talkin' and I listened just like I promised I would, "Jasper, I'm truly sorry that I assumed that you were my mate. After it was explained to me about what being a mate entails I now understand that I misunderstood my visions. I'm sorry if I just took over and made plans for us; for you and me together before we even met. I'm going to have to learn how to better interpret what I see in my visions. I promise that I won't hurt Bella and I only have both of your best interests at heart. I do admit that I do love you, but now its more of a brother sister type of love.

Bella will become a sister to me and I already love her. I hope you can forgive me and that we can at least be friends. I had the vision that I'm sure Carlisle already told you about and I can see that sending them there to help was the right thing, but I knew that already. What I wasn't sure about was if my other vision would actually help or not. I don't know what happened, but may I ask how did you get out from under that vampire's gift?"

"I'll tell you, but then you have to tell me what was goin' on here. It was really weird, but we were paralyzed and then suddenly I could feel Bella's presence. I didn't let on to what I was feelin', but when I realized I could move I made Miguel think that I was still frozen. The strange thing was that Bella's presence was so strong and I felt it come over me like a soft blanket just before I could move again. I hate to admit that I was frightened that she was close enough to get hurt. It seems that she was no where near the fight. What happened Alice? Remember I'll know if you lie." I warned her.

"I saw something else when I had the vision about what was going on with the vampire you would run into. I had already seen that Bella would have a very special and very powerful gift, but this time I saw that she could use it even as she is turning. As soon as I told Carlisle, Esme and Char that they needed to go and help you or else I started talking to Bella. I think she already knew something was wrong because she had become very agitated.

She wasn't screaming, but it was like she needed to get up and move. She couldn't of course, but she settled down when I started to tell her that she could help you and the others. I just told her to think of you and to try to feel her gift and then send it to you. I don't know the dynamics of her gift, but it did work apparently.

I must tell you though that I had to tell her that you were in danger. It seemed to be the right thing to do because I could tell she was working harder to try to send it out or whatever it was that she did. I just kept talking to her. When I got the vision that the others were dead I told her she could relax that you had defeated the soldiers and you were safe. I can't explain how she's doing it, but I think she's keeping Lillian, Charlie and herself from feeling the pain. Like I said, she's going to be very powerful."

"Thank you Alice and thank you for acceptin' that I belong to Bella. I know it hurts, but I think we can find a way to be friends, but only as much as Bella will allow in the beginnin' when she wakes up. You know how newly mated vampires can be. Oh sorry, I forgot that you don't really know, do you? She'll be extremely jealous and won't want me even lookin' at another female. I might not even be able to stay with the family until she's come out of her newborn stage. That is if we do decide to stay with the family."

I sat with Bella for the next couple of hours while everyone packed what they wanted to take with them. Something more was goin' on with Alice. I couldn't quiet get a fix on it, but I knew that she was completely honest with me. She stayed with the three of them and always sat next to me.

I sat on the side Charlie was on because Edward was sitting next to Lillian on the other side. Alice would get up and go to do something and then come back to resume her place. Yeah, something was definitely goin' on with her.

It was decided to take several of the cars and we thought we were going to separate the three changin', but my mate had other ideas. We couldn't get her to let go. We did try to pry her hands away, but she would whimper and grab their hands again. So we put the back down in Emmett's jeep and put all three in there. The problem showed up when Edward and Alice both insisted on ridin' in the back with them. We finally had to settle for sittin' in the seat right in front of them.

I kept my hand on her the whole drive. I just fuckin' hope that she could have some peace before Maria caught up to us. I knew that she would eventually. Maria is very resourceful when it comes to findin' something she's lost. I just wish she'd leave me the fuck alone.

I'm tired even as a vampire and I just want to be able to spend the next year helpin' my mate adjust to this new life. She has a long road ahead of her and I just want to be there for her without worryin' about other shit.

Her gift will need to be developed and it needs to be done in a way so that the Volturi don't fuckin' find out otherwise they'll make sure that Bella becomes a part of their guard, even if it means that they kill me. With the gifts that the guards have it could be done easily and they could force a fake bond with her, but right now the danger lies with Maria.

I just hope that I have enough time to take care of Bella before havin' to fight for a chance to just live my life in peace. . .
