A/N: I wonder if this will become my first story that's over the 100,000 words... And if I'll ever be able to actually finish this. Time will tell. :P

~ "But I still need to know. If he regains his memories before you're completely over him, who do you want to be with then?" ~
63) Initiate
If there was one thing that Vanitas had noticed about this weird (there really was no other word for it) relationship between him and Aqua, it was the fact that he was always the one who initiated everything. Every kiss, every touch, whether it was taking Aqua's hand in his or brushing her bangs out of her face, everything.
But he had learned to accept it. To be honest, he hadn't expected anything different from the beginning. After all, you can't forget about your childhood crush just after one day. So it was needless to say that he was surprised when Aqua sat down next to him and leaned against him, putting her head on his shoulder. She smelled of vanilla and lavender. Without second thought, Vanitas pulled her in his lap and she readjusted her grip on him, putting her arms against his chest instead.
"How was your day?" she asked softly.
"…Okay. Yours?"
"Same." She seemed to hesitate slightly, before leaning forward to give him a chaste kiss on the lips. "You know that the reason I accepted this wasn't only because I decided to forget about Terra. I really want to give us a try too."
Us. That word made him strangely happy, to the extent of feeling butterflies, but he tried not to show it...yet.
"I know," he assured her. "But I still need to know. If he regains his memories before you're completely over him, who do you want to be with then?"
She was silent for the longest of moments. Vanitas thought that she had decided not to answer, but then she said, "He won't regain his memories."
"But what if he does?" he tried again.
"If that happens and we would still be together, then the only reason I would want to go back to him was because you didn't do your job right. If you can make me forget about him, I don't see a reason to break up with you," she told him earnestly.
He smirked. "Oh, don't worry about that. By the end of this year, you won't know who Terra is."
"You sound like you're going to murder him," she noted, a light frown gracing her otherwise flawless features.
"If I have to," he replied solemnly., which earned him a smack on the arm.
"Not funny!"
"Relax, I was only kidding…" When she relaxed slightly, he teasingly added, "Or was I?"
"Vanitas!"
"Like I said, just kidding…sort of."
