A/N I'm so very sorry for the lateness of this chapter. Like I've said before I'm working two jobs and just got done with working four weeks without a day off. Its easy this week and then picks up again next week before easing up again. I'll do my best to make sure the wait isn't as long for the next chapter. Jasper's POV

By the time we got to the airport to take the private plane it was late and therefore very few humans were around. We also had a problem. It wasn't a new one, just that this time we were in a position to possibly be seen by humans. We had to carry three changin' humans that wouldn't let go of each other out of the jeep and onto the plane. Not an easy feat even for vampires.

Three of us had to carry one over our shoulders and close enough so that the connection wouldn't be broken. It wasn't so much as Charlie or Lillian wouldn't let go, it was Bella who seemed to know when we were tryin' to separate them and clung tightly to the others. She seemed to be more aware than any changin' human I have ever seen. We could have easily broken the contact and it would have meant broken hands for them which would have mended anyway, but it seemed important for my mate so we let them be.

We had to lay them on the floor of the plane, but at least it made it easier on Edward and I to be close to our mates. Alice continued to stay close optin' to sit next to me. I have a feelin' that shit's gonna be hittin' the fan soon. The first thing a newborn goes through is their instincts are stronger as well as their strength. That means that either one or both girls may just wake up ready to rip Alice apart. Even though she's on the opposite side from Edward, she's still too fuckin' close to him.

It was durin' the flight that I finally figured out what was goin' on with Alice. She wasn't sayin' anything, but her emotions was tellin' me exactly what was happenin'. I don't think that she even realized herself what was happenin'. She just knew she needed to stay close to us. I have a feelin' that if we're not alert and fast there could be major trouble when these three wake up.

The girls will see her as a threat, she's too close to us. Charlie will see us as a threat and he could possibly feel threatened by the girls being close. I quickly decided that while everyone was close that I would explain what would be needed in order to keep everyone safe and in one piece. My gift of course would be very useful in keepin' everyone calm.

The flight to Alaska was over quickly and we actually landed in an airstrip that the Denali's, who are friends with the Cullens, had built so there was no need of human airports. I was never so fuckin' grateful for small miracles. I can't even begin to imagine tryin' to carry these three through an airport even if the hanger was far away.

The Denali's met us and helped to move the things to the house where we would be stayin' with the Cullens, at least until my mate was calmer and over her more aggressive newborn stage. Peter kept tellin' me not to worry though that he just knew that my mate was "gonna surprise the shit outta me." His words not mine.

Once in the house we were directed to take the three into what is Carlisle's and Esme's bedroom. They had a huge king size bed, I really didn't want to know why they had it since they don't sleep. I guess they wanted plenty of room to move around durin' their 'alone time'. I think that as soon as my mate wakes up and is ready to continue our relationship that we'll need to get a bed as well.

The three were still quiet and unmovin'. If it wasn't for their beatin' hearts I would have thought they were dead. Edward couldn't read their minds and Alice couldn't 'see' them either. I couldn't feel any emotions comin' from any of them either. We also found out that if anyone was touchin' them our gifts didn't work on them either. Carlisle's friend Eleazar did speak with both Carlisle and I about Bella's gift as well as that of Lillian and Charlie.

He has the ability to see the gifts of others, human or vampire. He said that Bella is a shield and not just a shield, but an extremely powerful one if she could manifest her gift even while still human. He guessed that it was her shield that helped us out against Miguel's gift. Its also why none of our gifts worked on any of them. She was apparently shieldin' Charlie and Lillian as well. Although he couldn't explain why they weren't feelin' pain.

Unfortunately because of Bella's gift he couldn't see if the others were gifted or not. It didn't really matter at the moment and now the wait would really begin. They were now about twelve hours into their change and so they still had a couple of days to go. I really needed to hunt, but decided that it would be better to wait until I could hunt with my mate.

The main thing right now is that it would take some time for Maria to find me again. At least I hoped that would be the case. There were no scent trails for any vampire to follow and her last group, which included her best soldiers, were now nothin' but ashes. So was the house that the Cullen's had lived in. I have no doubt that she will eventually find me again.

The next two days were pretty much filled up with everyone unpackin' and tryin' to get the house up and runnin except Edward, Alice and myself of course. When it was close to about when Charlie should wake up Peter, Emmett and even Carlisle came in to stay close in case they were needed to keep Charlie from attacking. There was no fuckin' way I would make the others leave so I would have to be ready to use my gift on him.

The best part is that both girls were only about forty-five minutes behind him so it wouldn't be much longer before we would have our hands full. I told Edward that I would use my gift to try to keep them calm until he could take Lillian to hunt, I of course would take Bella and Alice said she wanted to take Charlie. I knew why because I have felt her emotions since this started, but it wasn't my place to say anything.

We listened as Charlie's heart sped up and then after a couple more beats became silent. I started to send him some calm, but it was no use, it only bounced right back to me. I have no clue what he's feelin' and that is gonna make it harder to try to control him. So I did the only thing I thought might help; I started talkin' to my mate again.

I told her that whatever it was she was doin' she needed to stop. I needed to be able to control Charlie in order to keep him safe as well as everyone else. I didn't really expect her to understand or even move, but she apparently did and let go of Charlie's hand. I never expected and neither did anyone else what happened next.

Charlie grabbed her hand back, but never moved otherwise. I put my hand on top of his hopin' that maybe I could influence him to stay calm and try to keep him from crushin' her hand. Peter, Emmett and Carlisle had come closer ready to grab him in case he tried anything. The next thing shocked all of us even more.

"Son, I don't know who the hell you are, but if you don't get your hand off of me and away from my daughter I might just have to show you just how mean I can get when it comes to my baby girl! So if I was you right now I'd back away. My baby is going through whatever the hell that shit was the same as me by the smell of things and so I'm staying right here until its over for her."

Oh shit! Of course I did as he asked and Peter bein' fuckin' Peter started to laugh his ass off. Before any of us could even realize that Charlie had let go and moved; he had Peter by the throat and up against the wall, "Boy, I don't know who the hell you think you are. You seem to think something is funny. Are you laughing at me because I want to protect my little girl? She is my baby girl and I will protect her. Now would you mind telling me what you seem to find so funny?"

"Sorry about that, but I wasn't laughin' at you. I was laughin' at the Major there. You see your daughter is his mate and it never occurred to any of us that you might want to protect your daughter from her own mate. The thing is that normally the Major would kill anyone tryin' to keep him from her. He can't do anythin' to you because he can't hurt you. To hurt you would be to hurt his mate, your daughter." He told him.

He looked at me and growled. He dropped Peter and flitted over to me. I quickly removed my shirt thinkin' that maybe it would stop him and I could use my gift on him. He didn't even slow down. I sent him a fuck load of fear and he not only kept comin', but after a couple of seconds it hit me. The fear I sent him was doubled and I fell down. The intensity was more than I have ever felt.

It lasted a few seconds, but it was enough to let me know that something was goin' on with this newborn. He had stopped when I fell down and was just starin' at me. Next thing I know he has me by the throat and is squeezin'. He got right in my face and started to growl, "I don't know what the hell he means by the word mate, but it sounds like a fucking animal thing. I have no clue as to what my daughter feels or thinks about this 'mate' shit, but until she wakes up and tells me that she is okay with you being around, you will be staying the hell away from her."

He was getting angrier by the second and started to squeeze harder. Suddenly a small hand was on the arm squeezin' my throat and I heard Alice speak to him, "Charlie please don't hurt him. Bella would be so angry. I can tell you that she loves him and he loves her. I can explain the mating thing to you if you'll just let Jasper go."

He looked at her in the eyes and then while not takin' his eyes off of her dropped me like a sack of taters. The starin' contest just continued until Peter came over to me and told me that I was safe for now. He actually laughed lightly and said that he couldn't wait to see if the pissin' contest over Bella was goin' to change now. The relief was too early though.

While Charlie was busy starin' at Alice I moved closer to Bella. Apparently that was the wrong thing to do as I was once again bein' held by the throat. Charlie was beyond pissed, I could feel his emotions now. He was also confused, conflicted and worried. Not a good combination in a newborn, especially one who hasn't fed yet.

"I thought I told you, boy, to stay away from my daughter? Or are you confused as to which one is Bella? Until she wakes up, no, I change my mind, even when she wakes up you will be staying the fuck away from her. Never mind, I'm just gonna fucking rip your head off now! That way the problem is solved before it has a chance to become one." He growled.

Somehow most vampires wake up with the instincts on how to kill a vampire. He jerked my head to the side and made the killin' bite to my neck. I would rather him rip my head off than to fight him and hurt my mate's father, even if he is tryin' to kill me. I could feel him startin' to pull and the flesh startin' to tear when I heard a blood curdling' scream.

Suddenly he was gone and my mate was standin' in front of me. She was growlin' and standin' fiercely waitin' to defend what was hers. He was now runnin' on wild instincts and went to charge at us. He got no closer than about six inches before bouncin' off of something that didn't appear to be there. She tried to say something, but kept up the growlin. By this time Peter, Emmett and Carlisle had been able to grab him. They hauled him out the window and into the woods.

I knew he was safe. They would take him huntin' and that would help to calm him down. Peter knew how to calm down a newborn without my gift so I would be able to concentrate on my mate. Before I could move in front of her she was in front of Alice. Unfortunately Alice had moved a little closer to me while they subdued Charlie. Shit, first I had to worry about Charlie not lettin' me near my mate and now I have to worry that she might hurt Alice before I could stop her.

I grabbed her from behind and jumped out the window before she could fight me. I landed on the ground and without even slowin' down I just took off in the opposite direction that the others had taken Charlie. I did notice that Alice jumped out right after us and took off towards Charlie. Man what in fuck was I thinkin' when I decided to change these three at the same time?

That wasn't the problem though. I have changed as many as ten at a time. No, the problem is that I can't treat these three the same way and apparently I can't use my gift on the strongest one, not without sufferin' myself. Still, I can't fuckin' wait to see my mate huntin' for the first time. I was now headed to where I knew there was an overpopulation of cougars. If only I hadn't underestimated my mate. . .
