Jasper's POV

As soon as we got to the area where the cougars were I stopped. I didn't let go though. I wanted her to calm down before I let her go. I sat down and placed her between my legs with her back to my chest and started to purr for her. I could feel her emotions and they were all over the place. After I got her calmed down then I would make sure she fed. I didn't really want to use my gift on her but I would if necessary.

I started to nuzzle her neck as I purred and she eventually calmed down. She then spoke up, "What happened Jas? All I can remember is somehow I knew that you were in danger and I needed to protect you. I don't remember anything after that except some vampire wanting to hurt you. Why would another vampire want to hurt you? I'm going to go back and rip his ass apart for even thinking about touching you!" she growled out the last part.

It took another thirty minutes to calm her back down. Once she was calm again I explained, "Darlin', the vampire that was tryin' to hurt me was your father. He apparently doesn't want me around you and finally decided to kill me to eliminate what he saw as dangerous to his daughter. He was just tryin' to protect you. Then I'm guessin' that somehow like you said you knew I was in danger and used your shield to push him away from me.

You stood in between your father and I ready to fight him. His own instincts kicked in and he charged at you. Your shield came up and he bounced off of it and then the others were able to grab him and run him into the woods. Peter will get him calmed down and then make sure he feeds. That will help with the instincts to a point. Now are ready for your first hunt?"

I could feel her guilt and knew that she was feelin' bad for almost fightin' with her father. I explained to her that it was instinctual to need to protect your mate and that was what she was doin'. Then she got angry at her father for tryin' to hurt and then later kill me. She finally asked the question that I knew she would, "Why didn't you fight him off of you? I know you could have easily over powered him and stopped him, why didn't you?"

"Darlin' there is no fuckin' way that I would fight or ever hurt him. He's your father and you love him deeply. To hurt him would hurt you. I understood that he thought he was protectin' you from danger. I'm pretty sure that he's realizin' exactly what that means as far as mates go. I also believe that by the time he gets back to the house and the two of you see each other that he will be more understandin'."

"Why would you say that? Whats going on Jas? What could happen to make him understand?" she asked.

"Well, because he has met his mate and she's with him right now as we speak. At least she had taken off to follow them when I left with you." I told her.

"Who?" she whispered.

"Would you believe me if I told you that Alice is your father's true mate? I think that since Alice didn't believe in such a thing as a matin' pull that she confused what she was feelin' as bein' because of me. It was Charlie all along and if I'm not mistaken there were times when they sat and talked for hours. She didn't know what all matin' entailed and therefore, never picked up that it was Charlie and not me. Yeah, she did see me in her visions but I believe it was because we stay with the family and all she saw was both of us happy and friends. She just misunderstood what she was seein'. I believe that she kept tellin' you that her mate was close by?

Both you and I will have to be very careful at least until most of your newborn stage is over. I will have to stay away from Alice and not speak to her unless its in the presence of more than one other vampire. You will need to stay away from the other males. I will have to stay away from the females so it goes both ways. Bein' a newborn and newly mated will make it harder on you than myself. Now lets get you fed. I need to get to back to help with Lillian if necessary.

We never really got around to discussin' what you wanted to feed off of. I did bring you here because there seems to an over population of cougars, and there might even be a bear or two around. Now if you want to fed off of criminals that's fine with me. I figured with your knowin' the Cullens you might want to try the animal diet. It will be easier if you don't try any human blood. While I have tried the animal diet I'm not sure if I could stick with animals. But you need to decide what you feel you need to do for you. So, what's it gonna be for right now? Unfortunately there aren't any humans around for at least a hundred miles. There are some closer to the house than here."

"Animals, for now at least. But I don't know what to do." she whispered.

I explained that its all instinct and to just let them lead her. I knew that we were close to some of the cougars and told her to just close her eyes and let her senses take over. She did as I told her and was up and runnin'. I followed her but at a distance of course. I knew that she had smelled her prey and was in huntin' mode right now. There's no fuckin' way I'm getting close to her, mate or not. I could easily overtake her but I might have to hurt her in order to stop her and that's something that I refused to do.

I watched as she stalked her prey. It was a male cougar and he was hurt already and that made him even more dangerous at least if Bella had been human. She took him down with such grace and of course that made the male part of me come to life. I wouldn't be able to act on it of course so I had to push down the instinct to take her, and claim her like I would have if she had been a vampire when I met her. But it would have to be soon.

I watched as she drained the big cat but I could tell that she was still thirsty. Once the cat was drained she stood up and I could tell that she was tryin' to find more blood. I knew that there was a bear not too far from here. I waited to see if she would go after it. She didn't disappoint me. She suddenly took off. Again I followed.

I guess that she had heard from Emmett about his bear attack and how his favorite animal is the bear. She found a huge one and started to circle it. It was growlin' and was unwillin' to give up without a fight. She even let it charge her a few times which made my dead heart jump in fear. I knew that it couldn't hurt her but still seein' the huge animal chargin' at her made me want to protect her.

When she finally brought it down and was feedin' she suddenly stopped and asked me to join her. I had heard of mates sharin' their meals but I have never experienced it myself. It was erotic as we never took our eyes off of each other. As soon as the animal was drained she pounced on me.

Our clothes were shredded almost instantly. Our first time with both of us bein' vampires was intense, almost vicious. We were mates claimin' each other. Both of us ended up bitin' the other and therefore, markin' what belonged to us. Our second time was less vicious but still intense.

This is where I underestimated her, she wasn't gonna stop until she was satisfied. We ended up spendin' almost two weeks out here. We fed, fucked, then fed some more, and then made love. If this was the price for feedin' off of animals I was more than willin' to never again feed off of a human. Yeah, I completely forgot that my help might be needed to help with the other two newborns.

Finally it was time to make an appearance but we had a major problem. No clothes and I wasn't about to allow my mate go back without bein' covered. I couldn't even call to have someone leave some clothes for us somewhere. I decided to take Bella close but have her stay out of sight until I could go in and get her some clothes. That started our first fight as vampires. There was no fuckin' way she was goin' to allow me to go to the house which had several females includin' Alice, nude.

I should have known that my brother Peter had my back. When we got to the spot where I was goin' to leave Bella there was a bag with fresh clothes for both of us along with a note.

Major,

I knew that you would need clothes so here they are. I also know that you think that you were needed here but there was only one time that things got out of control. I'll fill you in on everything that you missed while out with your mate when you get here. Lillian certainly has made things around here less. . . boring that's for sure. See ya soon.

Peter

We got dressed quickly and went up to the house. I had expected it to have been damaged at least a little bit with two newborns but then my mate seemed to be calm compared to any newborn I have ever seen. Still surely they wouldn't have the same kind of control. Apparently havin' a mate when you wake up helps tremendously.

Although Lillian seemed more tense than either Charlie, or Bella.

Charlie was standin' on the porch waitin' for us. Alice was at his side with her arms around his waist. She was tryin' to keep him calm and I'm guessin' from attackin' me. He was glarin' at me something fierce. If looks could kill I would be in a gazillion pieces.

I kept Bella at my side but moved her so that I could push her behind me in case either Charlie tried to attack me or she tried to attack Alice. I could feel her jealousy already and we weren't even close yet. It turns out I didn't need to worry though. Alice was keepin' Charlie calm and while he still had reservations about his daughter bein' with me he understood all about mates since he himself was now mated, and claimed.

Bella while she didn't want Alice anywhere near me accepted that she was mated with her father and therefore, wasn't a threat to me or her. While there were times that tempers flared with the newborns they were pretty much kept calm by their respective mates. All except Lillian. She had become someone that would tell you in no uncertain terms how she felt about something. Feeding was one of them.

When we were told about her first huntin' experience we had to laugh. Not in front of her of course. We were told while she was out huntin'. Edward had a hard time keepin' her from attackin' the females in the family. He basically had to grab her and jump out the same window just like we did. He of course took her huntin' and her first kill was a cougar just like Bella. She went ballistic later after her kill and they ended up claimin' each other but she was so upset that he had to bring her back to the house hopin' that I was back.

Apparently the cougar that she killed was a female that was pregnant. She was of course in instinct mode and actually ripped the cubs out of the mama and` drained them of the little bit of blood they had. Then she attacked her mate and claimed him which included the markin' of each other.

When she came back to herself she was extremely pissed off and told Edward in no uncertain terms that she would never again feed off of an animal. She told him and the family later that she would be doin' what Peter, Char, and I did. Feed off of the criminals that hurt others for no reason other than bein' evil. So there was major drama within the family.

Edward was torn between wantin' to stick with the animal diet and his mate's diet. Carlisle of course tried to talk with Lillian and it wasn't gonna work for her no matter what anyone said. She refused to go huntin' with her mate when he would go to feed from animals. Carlisle also tried to convince her to at least use donated blood but that wasn't gonna work either. She wanted the criminals to feel the same kind of fear that their victims felt.

She was fierce, and a little overzealous at times. But she truly loved Edward and the family and that's what really counted in the end. She also had a gift. As a matter of fact we found out that all three were gifted. The only difference is that Lillian's was offensive while Charlie's and Bella's were defensive.

Lillian could sense the intentions of others. She knew every fuckin' time that Em or Peter were about to pull a prank and called them out on it. That of course ruined all of their fun, and that made them cranky. Edward had to finally speak with her and ask her to please let them have at least a little fun. She pouted until they pulled a prank on Edward. Then she laughed her ass off at Edward's face that had some shit on it. I don't know what it was but it looked a lot like honey, molasses, and chocolate syrup. Why they had that shit to begin with I have no clue except maybe they spend way too much time plannin' shit.

Charlie's was a very dangerous gift and I'm so fuckin' glad that he's on our side. He could basically take a gift directed at him and repel it. It didn't just bounce back to the sender but the strength of the gift would be greatly increased. Even Edward had to be careful of usin' his gift on him. When it bounced off and came back he would then hear everyone's thoughts all at the same time. He has trained himself to only read one person at a time. Now he's learnin' how to NOT read a person's mind!

We had to train him to learn when not to use it. Like when Bella wanted to use her super shield to cover him and protect him as well as the family. While we haven't had anything goin' on to need protection from I knew that one day Maria would come after me and I wanted everyone prepared for a fight.

My mate. She's special in that her shield is even more powerful than Aro's personal shield Renta. She has to touch him while my mate doesn't have to touch the person to protect them. She can even keep Edward from bein' able to read anyone's mind.

She explained that when they were goin' through the change that she somehow knew that if she could keep contact with Lillian and her dad that they wouldn't feel the pain of the change. Her shield was in place between their brains and the actual pain so they felt nothin'. It was the same for her, she just wished that the pain would be blocked from the pain receptors in her brain and theirs. It worked and I was so fuckin' happy to hear that none of them suffered too much durin' the change.

We did have a couple of trips into a town to get supplies to fix the house when someone would break something. We wanted to test out the newborns. Of course the humans weren't in any real danger as we all went ready to hold them back if necessary. It wasn't and I think that it was Bella's shield that helped with them bein' able to resist.

We spent the next six months trainin' them to fight as well as how to use their gifts to enhance each others gift. Turns out that if Charlie used his gift with Lillian's and then added my projection ability that everyone could feel the intentions of whoever her gift was directed at. Lillian found her gift especially useful when huntin'.

She would find a man who either was about to or in the process of hurtin' someone helpless and then would feed from him. The only time she killed a female was when she heard a baby cryin' and heard slaps, punchin', and screamin' comin' from a female. Turns out that it was a nine month old baby who was cryin' and the mother was beatin' the shit out of her tryin' to get the baby to stop cryin'. Yeah, it sounds fucked up to me too.

Lillian and Edward came home that day with the badly bruised infant and asked Carlisle to take care of her. She had bruises all over and some where old. She also had some cigarette burns and a broken arm that hadn't been taken care of. It too was an older injury. The poor baby was runnin' fever and had some infections. It took a few months but eventually the girl was good as new and very close to her new mommy and daddy. Yeah Lillian gave the child to Rose and Emmett to raise.

Carlisle tried to talk her out of keepin' the child but she was wantin' to give the girl a chance at true happiness. She knew of Rose's heartbreak of not bein' able to have a child of her own and wanted to make her happy. When she had to kill the mother she decided that since she had taken away her mommy, evil or not that she would make sure she got the best one ever.

My only concern for the child's safety was if Maria ever found out where I was. I should have known better. It was seven months to the day that it happened. I had gone with Lillian, Peter, and Char, to go huntin' in the town. We split up with the girls goin' one way and Peter and I goin' in another. We were to meet up in an hour back at the edge of town.

We were on our way back when we ran into them. Standin' waitin' for us was Maria herself. Beside her were at least twenty vampires. These were older more controlled. The bitch never said a word, just made a motion with her hands and all hell broke lose. . .
