Epilogue:

A/N Please forgive the lateness of this chapter. I was in the hospital and then trying to recover. Hope this chapter is good. As you can see this is the last chapter for this story.

Previously. . .

Suddenly the whole forest was alive with more vampires than we ever knew. It was another army, but these vampires were highly skilled, ruthless and almost as good as the God of War. While hundreds started fighting the ones we had been fighting two came over and asked Jasper if he was the Major.

"Depends. Who wants to know?" The God of War growled out.

"There is no time to explain. I am Demetri and this is Felix of the Volturi guard. Please have the family that are not able to fight retreat into the house. We need to make sure that justice is done. There will be time later for details. Get in our way and you will be destroyed along with the ones we are after. A hearing will be held and you will be held accountable for your actions and for the laws you have broken." Demetri explained.

Felix spoke up then, "In case you are wondering, the punishment for your crimes is death.. . ."

Epilogue

Bella's POV

Five Years Later. . .

I'm sitting here waiting for Jasper to get done with his hunt. This was one of the few times that we separate when hunting. We were all actually out here, but the men went one way and us girls went in the opposite for our hunt.

Dad finally decided to make an honest woman out of Alice and proposed a few months ago. The wedding is tomorrow and we decided to give Alice a bridal shower vampire style of course while the men were giving dad a stag party if you will. They promised no females would be there, but knowing Emmett and Peter I highly doubted that they wouldn't try to sneak in some anyways.

Of course they were also scared enough of us ladies to know that we would find out if any hanky panky took place. We also knew that if there were any other females there that poor dad would be the focus of their attention. Alice said that she just wished she could be there to see dad's face when whatever she saw in her vision took place so she could get a good picture of it.

While her and dad were living together he was still the same, quiet, shy and embarrassed sometimes by showing emotions. The look on his face as the two strippers started their dance up close to him was going to be quiet funny according to Alice.

Although at one point none of us were sure that we would ever live to see another day. Yeah, the day that we were fighting for our lives only to have another army come in and kill those that were trying to kill us. Before they did though they basically told us that we were in trouble for breaking some fucking law of which we had no clue about.

With my vampire memory I remember it like it was happening right now.

Flashback. . .

"What the fuck are ya talkin' about? We've committed no crimes." The God of War growled out.

"Do as you're told now or die. It matters not to me!" Demetri told us.

Felix then told all of us to leave the fighting to them. The idiot actually told Jasper to send the females into the house and then have the males come close so that none of us were accidentally killed by the Volturi. Us females were about ready to show Felix exactly why we needed to stay out here and fight, but Carlisle who was nursing Esme who had a hand ripped off said that he would make sure that we complied with the orders.

That just fucking pissed me off. Just because we're females doesn't necessarily mean that we need the males protection. Even Esme tried to argue with Carlisle that she was fine with continuing to fight, but reluctantly we all went into the house. The men did stay outside and watched to make sure that none of the enemy vampires got in the house.

Poor Carlisle was torn between needing to stay with his mate and wife, or talking to Demetri to find out what the problem was that the Volturi had with us. None of us could figure out what laws we had supposedly broken. I did hear Edward tell Carlisle and Jasper that both Demetri and Felix were confused, but were waiting on the three brothers Aro, Caius and Marcus to show up once the enemy had been destroyed.

Fortunately for us Carlisle always kept both donated blood and animal blood on hand so the ones who had major injuries took the donated blood while the rest drank the animal blood. Although Peter being Peter just had to fucking complain about the donated blood tasting like shit.

Jasper stayed out with the rest of the men but used his gift to help with the battle going on around the area. Dad also used his gift to keep gifted vampires from using their gifts on the Volturi. With their help the battle was soon over except for burning the parts scattered around.

Demetri called Aro and told him that the army had been destroyed and they could come and join us. At this point Edward and Jasper were both asked if they could hear or feel any others that might still be hidden. Alice said that there were a few that had turned and ran so some of the guard was sent after them and the rest were on clean up duty.

The men along with Demetri and Felix then came into the house. Carlisle then took his role as coven leader and proceeded to ask for them to please explain exactly what it is that we were supposed to have done. They said that we needed to wait until the three Kings got there. They also said that they were confused because apparently the information they had been given wasn't right.

It didn't take long for the Kings to arrive and Edward said that they were curious and confused. Carlisle greeted them like old friends which they were, but quickly asked, "Aro old friend, Felix and Demetri seem to think that we have broken some law and said that we were going to have a trial and be killed for our crimes. What crimes are they speaking of? Surely you don't believe us to be guilty of any wrong doing since we haven't done anything at least to my knowledge."

"I see that you have new members and they all seem to be newborns. Is this correct?" Aro asked.

As soon as he said this the newly mated members of the family were instantly in front of the newborns in the family including me. The really funny part was seeing tiny Alice standing in front of my dad who was a good foot taller than she was. She was growling as were Edward and Jasper.

"It would seem that we may have been lied to brother. We have seen no humans here since we arrived and there aren't even any human scents at all. I think it would be best if you read our dear friend's mind and then a couple of the others here so that we can get to the truth quickly. I don't like it when we all have to leave Volterra unguarded." Caius said.

"Of course brother, you are right, but first lets ask dear Marcus what he sees. Brother can you see the ties between the family and the newborns?" Aro asked.

Unfortunately that was the day that my dad almost got us killed. He didn't understand so he used his own gift to stop Marcus from seeing our ties. He had seen Edward's and Lillian's and was looking at dad when his gift just stopped.

Edward told dad to stop, but him being a newborn and feeling his mate was in danger became angry and had to be held down long enough for Alice and I to explain to him what Marcus's gift was and that it was harmless for the most part.

He apologized, but I knew then that Aro had his sights set on dad now that he knew what his gift was. I was ready to use my own shield to stop them, but Jasper understanding what I was feeling just pulled me closer to his body and sent me some calm. It was his way of letting me know to keep my gift a secret.

Marcus told the others that we were all mated and the bonds were extremely strong to not only our mates, but to the whole family. He was impressed as he had never seen such a large coven of gifted vampires that also had strong bonds to each other. Even though Jasper, Peter, Char, Dad, Lillian and myself were new to the family the bonds were just as strong with us coming from the Cullens.

Aro then stepped forward to read Carlisle then Edward. After that he read Peter and Jasper and then wanted to read Dad and myself. Of course that meant that he knew of all of our gifts. Jasper was getting pissed off and was about to lose it when Carlisle demanded that they tell us exactly what it was that we were supposed to have done.

"It started out with a vampire named Ricardo. Do you know anyone by that name?" Aro explained.

Jasper recognized the name right away as he stiffened upon hearing it. He told them, "Yeah, he was one of Maria's right hand men. He's been trying to take my place at the bitch's side for years. He'd do anything to make himself look better in her eyes. Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing him around. What did he do?"

"He came to us a few months ago and told us a tale. While we couldn't really believe that he was talking about our old friend Carlisle we had to take the accusations to heart. Aro did read him and found that he spoke the truth at the time. The Cullens were allowing humans to know about vampires and were even involved in part at the time with a known enemy of the Volturi, the one referred to as the Major.

We believed him to be dangerous, but since he was careful and did manage to keep Maria in line for the most part we left him alone. We told Ricardo that we would be investigating and to stay out of our way. What he didn't know is that because of our friendship with Carlisle we didn't want to jump to any conclusions. Therefore we would be watching him closely.

We had to come here letting you believe that you were in trouble, at least until we found the other army that was coming to capture the whole family and force you to help them. Sadly they got here first, but obviously we were able to destroy them as well.

You see most of the trouble that you had with the newest members of the family were caused by Maria and her idiot sidekick. They both paid the human boys to take the two girls. They didn't care what the boys did to them as long as they were dead in the end. They were smart enough to know that at the time it would be much easier for humans to take the girls than vampires because they were both surrounded by vampires that would kill to protect them.

Bella, when you overheard them bragging about what they were going to do, it was done on purpose. They knew that you would run to her rescue. They didn't expect your father to get in the way, but they did their best to take care of that problem as well. They had no clue as to what Maria and Ricardo were just that they were willing to pay huge amounts of money for something that they thought would be fun to do." Caius explained.

I heard Jasper's growling and Edward's as well, but it was the Major who spoke, "If you knew what was going on why in the fuck didn't ya fuckin' stop the boys from torturin' them?"

"They couldn't. I was assigned to follow and watch Ricardo. It was just me and yeah I could have jumped in and done something, but then my cover would have been blown. We couldn't understand why the idiot would tell us about the humans involved and then pay someone to kill them. The one thing I knew for sure was that one of the girls was the Major's mate and I was sure that he would find her before it was too late." Demetri answered.

Marcus was the one that spoke next probably to stop both Jasper and Edward from killing Demetri, "I know that it may sound harsh, but we had more important things to worry about with Ricardo. We were also assured that the mating bond would cause Jasper to get there in time to save his mate. It worked although they did end up losing their humanity. It would have needed to happen anyway. We are sorry that the girls had to suffer so badly.

What even Maria didn't know is that Ricardo saw this whole thing as an opportunity to become a leader or at least serve along side of a leader. He didn't want to be Maria's sidekick, he wanted her position as a leader. So while she was busy making and training a huge army, which was the largest one she ever took into a battle, 445 to be exact, to take down the Cullens and take back her Major he was busy with his own agenda.

He went to someone who wanted nothing more that to defeat the Volturi and once again rule as vampire kings. He brought them gifted vampires and knew that they already had a huge army of their own, but they still needed a few more gifts before they could actually go up against us.

The plan was to have Maria's army come in two major waves. The first one in the field and the second one at the house. They knew that there was no way that all of you could defeat them and were only going to rip and not burn. They were to rip all of you apart and take you back where they would force you to do their bidding.

The new army came in and started doing what they were supposed to do. Of course a few became stupid and were going to try to rape. They would have been killed for doing so. As soon as we knew of the plan from the Romanians we brought our entire guard here to stop them. The problem is that yeah they may have been able to get their hands on the entire family, but they underestimated the gifts. They would have been destroyed I'm sure by the Major alone and along with the girls father and her own gifts no one could stand against the family.

We could have easily just stepped back and let things run its course, but then we already have an unsavory reputation. We felt it would be best to step in and show that we won't sit back and allow any vampires to try to control others. We are not in the habit of forcing others to do our bidding and we refuse to allow it to happen to anyone else especially those we consider to be our friends. Please forgive us for not telling you what we knew and allowing you to have to fight."

To say that we were speechless would be an understatement. Although both Edward and Jasper were having a really hard time to not attack because of what happened to us, it was over, the bastards were dead and as I found out later the money that the guys had been paid went to help children who were sick and needed medical attention but couldn't pay for it. A clinic was set up with doctors in almost every field including surgery. It was several million dollars and between Alice, Carlisle and Jasper they would never run out of funds. Kids could be flown in and taken care of.

All was forgiven and we were allowed to live our lives in peace. Although there have been a couple of times when the Kings did call and ask for our help. It was the least we could do as they did come in and save our asses. We promised that we would help if and when we could.

End of Flashback. . .

The best thing to happen is that Aro along with Caius and Marcus gave us permission to do what Carlisle had wanted to do since he became a doctor. He built his own hospital and while patients who could afford to pay did so it was mainly for those who couldn't. Because of this place Rose became a pediatrician and worked with the kids.

She could be a mother to them while they were in there. Oddly enough Emmett worked there with her as the hospital clown. He was there for the ones who were scared or nervous. He never failed to make them laugh and feel more at ease. It wasn't just the kids either. Many adults that came in for surgery or treatment were worried or scared and Emmett was there for them as well.

Edward was both doctor and entertainer. He often played the piano for those who could come down to the entertainment room. Lillian would sing to them and had finally been able to overcome the blood lust long enough to become a nurse.

Esme took care of the business end of everything. Everyone stayed together including Peter and Char and we are all involved with the hospital. Char worked the food department, Jasper, Dad and Peter are like combined security and muscle men. You know those that sometimes need to be held down or picked up from the floor. We did get criminals in there from time to time. Although if they were really bad and had no remorse for their actions they never made it out of the hospital alive.

Sadly though we can't stay there forever because of the humans that also work there so in a few years we'll have to leave it at least until everyone is gone that was there when we were, but not to worry, Carlisle is already having another hospital built and even a few emergency places. Its under another name, Bella Whitlock.

Yeah, I'll be the one running that one. Oh I forgot that I'm a doctor too now and of course I'll have Carlisle's help as well as everyone else's. I bet your asking why in the hell would vampires be running a hospital to save the lives of humans? I'll tell you exactly why, its because none of us want to be monsters and we have either regained our humanity or never lost it.

Sure some of us still feed off of humans, but only the hardened cold criminals, the real monsters in life, but you should watch those same vampires as they hold the hand of an elderly person who's dying, who has no one to be there for them. Sometimes they hold the hands of both child and mother who is watching their child die from a horrible disease. Although Carlisle does have doctors working to find cures.

I've watched my mate sit with a young girl who was violently raped and beaten and he stayed with her until her heart stopped beating. He promised her that she would have justice. After she was gone he managed to hunt down the father who had done this to his daughter and was in the process of doing it to another girl. Lets just say that justice was served and the girl was saved from a monster. Cindy was only eight at the time of her death.

Yeah, at one time he was a wounded soldier. But now, he's my mate, my lover and the best part of my life. I wouldn't change a thing. Now, he along with our family helps take care of others who are wounded. . .

At this point in time I am not planning on starting another story. It wouldn't be fair to you my readers and it wouldn't be fair for myself either. Like I said I just got out of the hospital and while one problem was taken care of I still have some other problems. Sadly because of the pain I was in I was given strong pain medicine for 8 days and I'm still having episodes of withdrawals. Some other issues were found and they are causing me problems.

I'm going to see one of my doctors this afternoon and I'm hoping to be guided to the right doctor to address the problems I'm having now. Most of the time I neither feel up to or want to sit and write.

Some day I will be back but for now I need to get myself taken care of so I can take care of my family. I do have a story idea and may pass it on to someone who can write. I love you guys and I do hope to be back soon.
