A/N: Finally some action in the house. I was starting to get bored by my own writing here. :P It's safe to say that from now on, things are going to get more interesting.

Thanks: ZalelTribal and Killya008. :)

~ "Just admit it, Aqua loves me and you can't take it." ~

78) Remote

Terra was looking for quiet and remote places to visit on the internet after Kairi had left the house to do Zeus knew what. Frankly, he didn't care what she was up to these days, as long as it didn't involve him in any way. He didn't want her to find out about him leaving just yet. The dark-haired man had been so preoccupied that he hadn't heard her come back at all.

Needless to say, Kairi nearly gave him a heart-attack when she hugged him from behind and asked sweetly, "Oh, Twilight Town looks really nice! Are we going there together?"

Terra carefully shrugged her arms off him by moving away from her to create a distance. He took a deep breath before replying, "No… I am going to Twilight Town. Alone."

As soon as he'd uttered that last word, the redhead's face fell, making him feel extra guilty. So then, he had to carefully explain to her how he was in desperate need of some rest to clear his mind. He needed to be alone for a while to think, far away from distractions. Away from Kairi...and Aqua. But he couldn't tell her all of that of course.

Kairi tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, a nervous tick that she had developed around him. "How long will you be away?"

"A month."

Or maybe two if he hadn't figured anything out by then. It was hard to say, because he was planning on only booking a one-way ticket to Twilight Town.

If that fact had shocked her, she knew how to hide it well from him; all she said was, "O-oh. I understand. I need to go. I promised to help Selphie with one of her projects."

He doubted whether that was true, but he didn't push it any further as he watched her retreating back. Terra was more than glad that she didn't make a scene out of it. Who would've thought that Kairi would take it so well? Then again, she hadn't been that fussy lately. It felt like something about her was off.

He had just booked a train ticket for next week when the doorbell rang.

"Huh, back already?" he muttered to no one in particular.

He then figured that Kairi had probably just forgotten to bring something with her, like her keys. A small part of him hoped that it was Aqua, ready to declare her love for him (as if that was ever going to happen. Aqua was too shy to take initiative). Needless to say, he was pretty surprised to be standing eye to eye with Vanitas when he opened the door. To be honest, he'd completely forgotten about that guy's existence up until now. One could only wonder what he wanted now, because for some reason, he looked severely pissed off.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

It came out ruder than he'd meant, but that was only because Vanitas gave him the creeps.

"You leave Aqua alone, you hear me!?"

Without any further explanation, Vanitas pushed Terra out of the way with his shoulder and stepped inside.

"You know, over here it's common courtesy to wait for permission before you enter someone's house," Terra remarked sarcastically. "I don't remember inviting you in at all."

"Shut up! If you bother Aqua again in any way, I swear to the gods that you'll regret the day you were born," Vanitas hissed, pointing an accusing finger at him. "She doesn't even like you, so back off."

Terra rolled his eyes, stepped forward to the rude intruder. He made himself as tall as possible and noticed to his satisfaction that Vanitas looked furious...and, more importantly, smaller than him. In fact, Vanitas now looked just like Ven...if the latter completely lost his mind and decided for some random reason to dye his hair black, that is.

"Why have you come all the way here to tell me all of this? Scared that I will run off with her at the first chance that I get?"

Vanitas' eyes had a terrifying glint in them when he replied with, "I'm pretty sure that won't happen, 'cause our love is real."

The brunet man raised an eyebrow at that. "Is that so? I highly doubt that, because if that were the case, you wouldn't even be here. Just admit it, Aqua loves me and you can't take it."

Apparently, Terra had crossed a visible line with that comment. Before he could brace himself, Vanitas' fist had made contact with his jaw. Its impact made him stumble back hard enough so that the back his head hit the wall. Terra quickly retaliated by punching the other in the stomach as hard as he could. The glass coffee table broke in pieces when Vanitas landed right on it with a loud thump.

"You're going to regret this," Vanitas said ominously.

Surprisingly enough, the black-haired man was back on his feet in a heartbeat. Terra realized that the guy had to have had some martial training, which meant that this fight would not be over soon...

It felt like hours had passed when both of them stopped to catch their breath. The living-room was in a complete mess; chairs had fallen over, there was broken glass everywhere and half of the furniture was damaged beyond repair. At one point, Vanitas had started throwing glass figurines at Terra, who had sought cover behind the leather couch that now had a huge gash in it. By now, Terra had a black eye and a bleeding lip, and Vanitas had scratches all over his face and arms. Terra wasn't sure who was in a worse condition, but the back of his head hurt like hell now.

"This is not over yet!" Vanitas spat, while stumbling back to the front door.

Despite the pain he was in, Terra couldn't help but smirk. If Vanitas was this threatened by him, it meant that Aqua had feelings for him as well.

But first he had to buy some stuff to clean this mess with. Kairi was not going to like this.

A/N: You can probably tell by the length of this chapter that I enjoyed writing this piece. :P And if you think this is the worst that Terra has gone through today, you're wrong.

Next chapter: She knew she shouldn't do this, but maybe it would help their relationship.
