79) Leave

He was going to leave her, it was so friggin' obvious that it hurt. All these little signs... She could feel it by the way he looked at her, the way he acted around her... The way he tried to avoid any physical contact. Kairi was certain of one thing: if he went to Twilight Town, she would lose him for sure.

The pretty redhead had been staring at the front door for nearly five minutes now, trying to figure out what to do to stop her life from crumbling down. She could always ask Aqua, just like she had on several occasions, but she preferred to use that option as a last resort. It wasn't that she didn't like the bluenette, but to be honest, Kairi still felt a little intimidated by her. The red-haired beauty knew how much time Terra had been spending with her, so she couldn't help but feel a little jealous at how much influence Aqua had on her beloved fiancé.

Maybe I should tell him not to go. Beg him if I have to, Kairi mused. That seemed like the best solution for now. Whether it would work, was a whole different matter.

With that thought in mind, Kairi took a deep, calming breath before unlocking the front door. She immediately wished that she hadn't.

"Oh my gosh, what in the world happened here?"

She let out a shocked gasp at the sight of what used to be her once so neat living-room. She had left it behind in an impeccable state less than an hour ago. Now, however, Kairi was standing in the middle of the most chaotic room she'd ever seen, and she was counting Grandma's dusty attic. She barely recognized the place. Her once so beautiful coffee table was replaced with lots of broken glass, a couple of lamps were either missing or had fallen on the ground (just like the chairs), there were a few huge rips in the sofa, its soft pillows nowhere to be seen...

And where were all of her glass figurines? More importantly, why was there a spare door leaning against one of the walls?

"Terra? Are you there?"

No reply. Figures, she thought, both worried and annoyed.

Sometimes it felt as though she was talking to a wall. Speaking of the walls, one of the painings had fallen off it and the other wasn't hanging right anymore.

Her first guess was that someone had broken into their apartment and gone through their stuff, even though there was no sign of a forced entry. On the contrary: the front door had been locked when she had arrived here. When she went to the other rooms, however, she saw that the living room was the only area that looked like a tornado had gone through it. Something fishy was going on here for sure. And where in the world was Terra? Had he done this?

Kairi stepped into his separate bedroom in hopes of finding a clue there. Nothing seemed oddly suspicous at first sight, so she opted for opening some of the desk's drawers. She knew she shouldn't be doing this, but maybe it would help their relationship if she knew what was going on in the guy's head.

With that thought in mind, she started to go through his stuff at a faster pace. Just when she was about to give up this search, she stumbled upon the only drawer that seemed to be locked. With little trouble, she was able to pry it open.

That was when she found a small, black notebook in which, after a quick inspection, Terra had scribbled down his thoughts and the things that happened to him.

"Hmm... What's this?"

Kairi could vaguely remember him writing in this little notebook and being really secretive about it; sometimes he would close it immediately when she would enter the room. Perhaps it was some kind of diary. What kind of secrets could he be keeping from her?

This only awakened an internal conflict, because on one hand this was so wrong. Everyone deserved some privacy, after all. But on the other hand, she was terribly curious about what he was hiding for her. Kairi couldn't even remember when it was the last time that she'd had a good conversation with Terra. Desperate times asked for desperate measures. And so, she opened the notebook on the first page and started reading the first entry.

This is dumb. I feel so confused all the time and I don't know what to do with it. Aqua came up with the idea to start a journal when I visited her earlier today, so here I am. I don't even know what to write about. Everything seems so pointless and everyone is being a bit too nice to me. Especially Kairi, who's apparently my fiancée. Well, some fiancée she is; she doesn't even know how I like my coffee. I mean, even Aqua knew this.

It's driving me nuts that no one acts normal around me. Only Aqua seems normal. She's actually really sweet, I like her blue hair. Apparently, people used to make fun of her hair when she was little. We met on a swing. She was crying and we bought ice cream together. And that's how our friendship started.

And then there's Ven, who's younger than us, but he studied psychology, so he knows things. It's sometimes annoying, but he's an okay guy. He's dating Naminé, Kairi's cousin. Naminé is a quiet person. She barely speaks, but that's okay because Ventus probably talks enough for the both of them.

Well, this is all for now. I think I'm gonna give this a shot for a week or so. If I don't like it, I'll just quit. I feel like a girl writing in a diary now.

The more she read, the more shocked she was at everything that he hadn't told her, and the darker the frown on her face became. Most of the entries seemed to somehow involve Aqua. It was as though Kairi didn't exist in Terra's life, and even when she did get mentioned it was always vague, almost as though she was some vague acquaintance that he barely knew.

Aqua is seeing this Vanitas guy, who also showed up out of no where (it could be just me, but a lot of people do that here in Radiant Garden). What is she even seeing in that guy? OK, so he's not ugly, I get that, but he's creepy, arrogant and dark and... I don't know. He gives me the creeps. Kairi doesn't seem to like him all that much either.

I hope they break up soon enough, even if it's not my business. Aqua deserves someone better. Someone who treats her with respect. Someone who would never leave her and who would do anything to make her smile (even Leon would be a better match). But something about this Slim Shady just feels...off.

Then, her eyes fell on something that was written on one of the last few pages, and her heart nearly stopped beating.

I kissed Aqua and I didn't regret it. It felt better than anything I ever expected. Of course, she's now ignoring me completely, but I have a feeling that she liked it too. She kissed me back, after all. I'm not sure how to tell Kairi. Frankly, I don't want to talk to her at all. She's like that numbing headache that just doesn't go away, no matter how much pills you take.

This couldn't be possible...

A/N: A review is highly appreciated. :)

Next chapter: "We need to talk. I think you have some explaining to do." Her voice was considerably coolly.
