A/N: So I'm going to post one more chapter today, because I will be busy tomorrow and I'm not sure whether I'll get another opportunity to post more. I hope you all don't mind. I wonder who's going to be te 400th reviewer. :D
Thanks: ZalelTribal. :)

88) Mirror
With cold, sweaty and trembling hands, she held the edges of the tiny mirror. It was turned away from her form for now. Truth be told, she hadn't seen her face since before the accident on the beach, so Aqua felt more nervous than ever. What if she would never be able to look the way she did before? Aqua used to complain about her oily skin or far too colorful hair, but now it felt as though she had taken everything about her looks for granted.
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the scariest-looking of them all...
Little kids would make up the scariest stories about her, telling others that she was a vengeful witch, all because of a deformed face. Sure, Leon had a scar on his face that ran from his forehead down the bridge of his nose, but somehow things were always different for men. She remembered vividly how most students had said that that scar only added to his 'hotness' (well, she couldn't exactly disagree), but women were always expected to look on point and flawless. If something really had gone wrong, was she still able to face society or would she lock herself up in her apartment? Ven would be so disappointed in her. But then again, he of all people should know by now that she was nothing but a coward, what with the way she had handled her crush on Terra for years...
"Are you sure about this?" Terra asked, his voice laced with worry.
He sounded almost as nervous as she felt. For a moment, Aqua was more than glad that it was just Terra in the room, and nobody else. She didn't think she would be able to handle more visitors during this important moment. Honestly, this felt like torture, but she had to find out about it sooner or later. So the sooner they got this over with, the better. Perhaps it wouldn't be that bad...
She nodded quietly and breathed out slowly, in order to calm herself down. "Here we go I guess…"
Aqua turned the smooth object around in her hands and her pale face greeted her. After this, she asked Terra to hold the mirror for her, while she slowly started unwrapping the bandage from around her eye. Her hands were still shaking terribly. She let out a shocked gasp upon seeing her pale face in the mirror. The area around her hurt eye was bruised and thick, as if she'd been stung by a nasty wasp while she'd had a black eye. Was that ever going to disappear or would she look like a hideous monster forever? People would be whispering nasty things about her on the streets. She would get picked on relentlessly again. This was high-school all over again and there was absolutely nothing she could do to stop it this time.
This was it then, she was never going to set another footstep outside without covering her head with a paper bag.
Terra, who had noticed his friend's internal distress, decided to do the only thing he could think of to calm her down at that instance: he kissed her. He felt elated at the fact that she wasn't pushing him away violently, or telling him to cut it out. It was better than the brunet man could have ever hoped.
"I'm glad you didn't have your eyes wide open," he said jokingly.
Aqua blinked and then frowned, wondering what he meant by that. Then she gasped again, remembering their conversation on her couch of a few years ago about the song that she loathed more than anything in the world.
"You…can remember everything again?!" Aqua asked, incredulously.
"Yeah. I've been remembering everything for quite a while now, but I kept it all to myself. Just to be sure that it was a permanent thing and I hadn't made it all up or something."
Aqua snickered despite everything. "A delusional Terra. How typical… and completely in character."
"Hey!"
A/N: Don't you hate it when society tells you to look perfect and nothing less? :/
Next chapter: She got a sickly feeling in her stomach, especially when she thought of Vanitas and the possibility that he would walk in on them like this. What could she even say to him if that happened?
