Arya had gone into a trance, her eyes moved to the fire that Melisandre had been watching. Slowly she walked towards the flames, still holding her sword as she stopped in front of the fire.
"Arya?" Sansa looked at her sister a moment, then to Joffrey and then to Sandor. "What is going on?"
"She sees him…" Melisandre stepped behind Arya, staring into the flames as well. "Our lord speaks to her, he has chosen her." Slowly she placed her hands on Arya's shoulders, "I knew you had a fire in you the first time I saw you."
"Take your hands off the girl witch!" Sandor grabbed the hilt of his sword, "before I run you through."
Letting out a laugh, Melisandre lowered her hands. Turning to Sandor she grinned as she walked to him, "you fear the unknown, you fear what you cannot see." She pointed to Arya, "the girl sees R'hllor, and she sees his true form. A gift only given to those he sees promise in, those he wants to serve him."
Sansa shook her head, "Arya would never serve him. What will he do if she refuses?"
Melisandre shook her head as well, "he would not force the girl. He will show her what she is capable of, the power he would give her. The power that she already possesses, and then he would give her the choice."
"My my, things have changed since that fateful day in Winterfell, haven't they?" Joffrey smiled as he stepped beside Sansa. "Why don't you take Arya to the chambers we had prepared for her, I would like to speak to Lord Clegane alone."
Sansa looked to Sandor who nodded, she then moved to Arya. "Come, you look like you could use a warm meal." She then took her sisters hand, leading her away from the great hall, casting one glance back to Sandor before the doors shut behind them.
…
"Sansa, I saw him. He even spoke to me, inside my head." Arya had been sitting with Sansa at a small table as the maids served them all of Arya's favorite foods. "He told me that the cooks would know what to prepare…" She pointed to the food, "and here it all is. How is that possible?"
Sansa shook her head, sighing a bit. "I was skeptical at first myself Arya, but the more time I spend with Melisandre, the more I begin to realize that there is more to her than meets the eye."
"It's not her, its R'hllor." She looked at her sister, the look in her eyes showing a seriousness that Sansa had not seen in a long time. "Sansa you know me, you know I never was one to believe in the gods. But he was inside of me, I felt him."
Sansa frowned, looking down at her hands a moment before looking to Arya again. "What did he say to you?"
Biting her lip she finally broke eye contact with Sansa, "you're pregnant Sansa. You will give Joffrey a son."
Sansa could not help but let out a gasp, instinctively her hand went to her stomach. The thought of another child inside of her terrified her. Her last child was taken from her, true it was with a man she held no love for. And she did not love Joffrey, but she knew she would always love a child that she carried. She could feel the fear filling her, what if this child was taken from her again?
Arya's eyes suddenly shot over to the fire burning nearby, "you will not lose this child…" Her eyes remained on the fire a moment longer before looking back to Sansa. "R'hllor protects him, and those who stood in the way of your last child, are long gone."
Sansa looked at the fire then back to Arya, "he's speaking to you now?"
"He read your thoughts, he knew you were worried you would lose this child as well." She reached over the table to take her sisters hand into her own. "I will protect this child, Sandor will protect this child, and for some crazy reason I believe Joffrey will too."
Sansa's eyes widened at her sister, was she already beginning to accept Joffrey? "Arya…" She had begun to speak when a raven suddenly landed on the window ledge, clutching a small letter.
Standing up, Sansa moved to the window, taking the letter from the raven. She then grabbed some corn from a nearby bowl and fed the raven before returning to sit with Arya. Her eyes widening in horror as she read the letter.
"What does it say?"
Sansa did not answer, instead she stood, anger filling her eyes as she stormed from the room, Arya quick to follow her.
…..
"So dog, my little brother made you a lord?" Joffrey let out a small laugh as he moved to sit back down. "I am sure he did this with the intention that you would marry Sansa?" He leaned forward slightly, "I apologize for ruining your plans, but Sansa has a destiny far greater than marrying an old dog."
Sandor gritted his teeth as Joffrey spoke, the boy's tone almost a mock as he addressed him. He would behave for his little bird, he did not want to put her into any more danger, or her sister. "You forced her into this, she will never love you. And the people will never welcome you back, they will want you dead for doing this to her."
"The lord of light looks over our King." Melisandre smiled as she moved to stand beside Joffrey, "he has seen to it that he was reunited with his true bride. And now he will see to it that he is reunited with his people." She tilted her head slightly as she looked over Sandor, "the lord does need strong men in his army, he would welcome you Lord Clegane. You would be free to keep what you have been given, if only you would accept him."
Sandor spat at the floor, "piss on all the gods, old and new!" He glared at Melisandre, "I only serve one, and that is the Lady Sansa."
The doors to the hall slammed open as Sansa suddenly stormed in, her eyes full of rage as she still gripped the letter she had received.
"You lying bastard! You swore no one would be hurt if I cooperated!" She stormed straight to Joffrey, throwing the letter into his lap.
Melisandre did not move as Joffrey picked the letter out of his lap and read it, Arya running in after Sansa stopped beside a stunned Sandor. She looked up at him and shrugged before looking to Sansa and Joffrey.
"Queen Margaery is dead, a single stab wound to her abdomen." Joffrey slowly stood from his throne, looking to Arya a moment before looking to Sansa. "I had nothing to do with this."
"Lies! Since word of your return, guards on King Tommen and Margaery had been doubled. No one had been near her when she was killed." She looked to Melisandre, "you and your lord of light did this!"
A grin crossed Melisandre's lips as she moved towards Sansa, "in a way, I guess you can say we did." She then moved past Sansa and stepped towards Arya. "But the true killer, is the one who stuck their sword through the King." She looked at Arya, "his life was bound to Margaery's, Arya, in her attempt to kill our King, killed her instead."
