Big Time Runners: Part 1

"Ah, this is the life," Bren said as he was relaxing on an inflatable bed in the middle of a swimming pool as he wears his red swimming trunks. "The sun in LA reminds me of home. Man, a Filipino kid could get used to this American life. No trees, no rustic houses, just living the LA life."

However, his relaxed moment ends when Amica quickly jumps on his stomach, injuring him.

"GAH! Kani! Can't you teach that furball how to behave!?"

It revealed that the whole UR Gamer Club or their Runner team name, Universal Runners, are relaxing and swimming at Calla's large swimming pool at her mansion's backyard, who are having a break after today's classes.

"Sorry! It's just that I'm trying to check if the chlorine water in this pool won't able to hurt Amica if she wants to swim and she's getting antsy just waiting to get into the pool," Kani explained as she checks the pool's water as she wears her green one-piece swimming suit.

"According to the ULO website, Faunias are not affected by chemicals or anything toxic except the monster's poison, so it should have the same effect as in the real world," Jordan said as she is swimming in her blue two-piece swimming suit with shorts.

"In short, Amica is going to be fine in the pool," Zeus said as he wears his white and yellow swimming trunks. "So don't get all stress about it."

"Okay, you can swim now, Amica!" Kani called to her tiger Faunia, which Amica jumps into the pool in excitement. "I'm going to get some final touches to her surprise back in my bedroom and with Calla's help, Amica will be reminded of her old home. Right, Calla?"

"Yeah," Calla said as she surfs the internet in her laptop as she wears her yellow two-piece swimsuit.

"What are you searching anyway, Cal?" Jordan asked in curiosity.

"Celebrity stuff."

"Come on, Calla. Tomorrow's the weekend and we need to relax to prepare for it, you know," Itzal said as he is swimming with Jordan, wearing his black swimming trunks.

"Come on, who cares about those celebrity junk anyway?" Andre said as he is relaxing on the pool chair, wearing a brown shirt and yellow swimming trunks.

"Uh, we do," Layla answered in annoyance, wearing her green and black two-piece swimsuit. "You know the celebrity world isn't all about gossip and rumors."

"Oh really?"

"Really. There's a lot more to it than that."

Andre scoffed as he took his own laptop and started surfing the web. Suddenly he came across a certain article of news which he read.

"Whoa," he said as he then called out to the gang. "Hey guys!"

"Yeah, Andre?," the gang all said.

"Guess who's performing at the Staples Center tonight?"

"Who?"

"Just a certain boy band that we all know by the name… Big Time Rush!"

Before anyone can say anything, Calla let out a loud scream–so loud in fact, that it causes everyone covered their ears and/or fainted, shattered several glass objects, and could be heard all over the neighborhood.

"Yeesh, Calla! Ever heard of voice lessons?!" Bren said in annoyance as the whole team entered Calla's mansion, now recovering from that unusual, but disturbing ordeal. "Cause if you scream one more time, I'm going to be deaf for the rest of my kid life!"

"Sorry! But BTR is my life!" Calla said in excitement. "Although I visited Hollywood many times to see them, I actually want to see them, in our very own LA's Staples Center! It's my dream! However, it always failed because I'm always bummed out the concert's sold out."

"Well, the only thing I'm bummed out about sold outs is the games at the game store. No offense, Calla," Jordan apologized.

"None taken, I always knew you like cartoons and anime than BTR."

"Well, at least minimize your screams, Cal. You almost ruined Amica's hearing," Kani said as she tends to her recovering Faunia.

"Mine, too," Andre said as he tries to recover his own hearing, too. "Kani, will you-"

"Don't even think about it, Renald," she said in annoyance.

Confused by this, Zeus says, "Okay, I have no idea what you are talking about."

Then Itzal speaks up, "Yeah, Calla. What is Big Tim-"

Jordan quickly covered their mouths in panic as she says, "Don't ask or she might scream again. Let's go to the kitchen. I'll explain in there."

When they did, Jordan pulls out her RunCom and opened an internet browser to search a Webipedia page about the band.

"Big Time Rush is a boy band with their songwriter and manager, Gustavo Rocque and they are currently in a contract with Rocque Records," Jordan explained. "They currently have three hit albums, that have sold millions of copies worldwide, and regard as of the best boy bands of the present day. The members are Kendall Knight, the leader of the band, James Diamond, the handsome one, Carlos Garcia, the brawn, and Logan Mitchell, the brains."

"Uh, if you're not interested at them, why do you knew much about them?" Itzal asked in confusion.

"Okay, so I bought their few albums and made fanmade music videos with their songs," Jordan said in defeat. "Plus, I also bought their merchandise like this tree hat."

She showed the said hat in embarrassment, which Itzal and Zeus stared in shocked and disbelief as they sweatdrop.

"I have to see that concert! It's my life!" Calla said in a desperate tone. "Otherwise, I'll be a hermit trying to convince them to perform in LA again!"

"Actually, I found this official website that sells those tickets," Andre spoke up. "But I don't see why..."

"AAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Calla screamed as she grabbed Andre by the shirt. "I need those tickets! I have to see that show! Now move it!"

"I know Andre's habit to buying weird stuff online was able to help us after all, but please, don't force him something that we might regret later on!" Bren said in worry as he tries to calm her down.

"Sorry," Calla said as she let go of Andre's shirt. "I just get so crazy when any I hear any news about them or their shows."

"Geez," Layla said. "I'm a big Hatsune Miku fan, but you don't see going crazy like that."

At Kani's bedroom, she is ready to uncover the blanket as Amica stares at it as Kani counts, "One, two, three!"

She uncovers it, revealing a small bed with hay along with a forest backdrop, much to Amica's awe.

"I knew you need to be reminded of your old home, so I took the liberty and Calla's help to make this bed just for you, Amica," Calla explained to her Faunia. "Do you like it?"

Amica walked over to the bed, climbed on it and lay down in it, letting out a small mew.

"I knew you would."

Kani then crouched, picked up Amica and the two lay down on her bed together. Kani then turned on her TV and switched to the Animal Planet channel which was showing a documentary on tigers.

"I love this series," Kani said as Amica gave her a friendly lick.

"Enjoying yourselves?," Jordan said.

"Yep," Kani said.

Then, their RunComs beeped as Jordan answers it, which she is shocked at what she read.

"Uh, guys. You might wanna look down at the window."

"Why?" Bren asked as he and the others looked out from Kani's bedroom window, which they saw a black limo waiting outside the front door of the mansion.

"I didn't order a limo back to your houses," Calla said in confusion.

"We know, but we need to get in before that CodeX employee force us in," Itzal said to his friends. "Trust me, it felt worst than WOOHPing."

"I guess you guys will cover us just in case our folks might ask where we are, right?" Zeus asked to Layla and Andre.

"No prob," Layla said.

"You can all count on me," Andre said. "Especially you, Ka–"

"Don't even try, Andre!," Kani said.

In CodeX United, the Runners are seated at the sofa of Tina's office as they are waiting for her briefing.

"Sorry for the sudden call, Runners. But we have a double situation on our hands," Tina said as she turns on her projector behind her. "First up, there are sudden robberies in a high-tech sound research lab, namely the Dixon Surround Labs whose mission is to create not only high-tech technology for speakers and hearing aids for the deaf, as some top-secret projects are reported missing."

"Cool, remind me to get a pair of hearing aids in case of Calla's screaming destroy my ears," Bren said as he is still recovering from that loud ordeal.

"Very funny, Revie," Calla said, unamused by his joke.

"Also, there also reports of robberies of some jewelry stores in the America and France areas," Tina said as she points at the said areas on the map from the projector. "It might be a police's job to investigate, but seeing these string of robberies along with the lab, I felt it's neccesary to investigate them. Kani and Bren, since you two are new at this, you'll be pair up with Calla and investigate the jewelry stores at Paris."

"Wait, why do I have to investigate just a girl's ring shop and not the lab?!" Bren complained.

"And why Paris? Although I want to visit there, why not in LA?" Calla added.

"Since you two are new to this, I can't risked all of you newcomers to get hurt in a high-tech lab," Tina explained in a serious tone. "Plus, it would be a good experience for you all to visit other countries."

"Sounds good to me! I hope we see the Eiffel Tower which happens to be the tallest structure in Paris," Kani said in excitement. "And maybe even Paris's and one the world's biggest museums, the Louvre."

However, Tina quickly interrupts her as she says, "Uh, please Ms. Kimura. Save it for your homework or school project, please. Jordan, Itzal, and Zeus, you'll be investigating the sound research lab. But like I said before, be cautious."

"We will, Ms. Reyheart," Jordan said in a serious tone.

"Good. The lab is located at South Korea, so along with France, it should take you until tomorrow morning to get to your destinations. And Zeus, don't use your portal creation ability until you're in a hurry to go home."

"You got it, Ms. Reyheart," Zeus said.

"And Itzal, since you already got connections to a jet thanks to your esponiage job, I'll be lending the S-Runners the CodeX jet," Tina said as she hands them the keys to it. "And since you're inexperience to fly a jet yet, it will be in auto-pilot."

"Auto-pilot?," Bren whined. "I've played plenty of flight simulator games. Why can't I fly it?"

"Because you would have crashed it right after takeoff, that's why," Zeus said.

"Shut up Twinkle-Starr!," Bren snapped.

"All right that's enough," Tina said. "You have your missions, so move out."

As the Runners left, Itzal stops for a minute as he asks, "Hang on, Ms. Reyheart. Can you do a favor for me?"

"Yes, what is it, Itzal?" Tina asked.

Itzal pulls something from his pocket and asks, "Can you do something about this?"

Perplexed by the object Itzal is holding, Tina takes a closer look to see that it's a purple gem-like rock.

"Hmm... Looks like a meteorite. Where did you find it?" she asked in curiosity.

"At my backyard," Itzal answered. "In fact, I found it just yesterday."

Flashback: Tony is just booting ULO in his computer at his bedroom in his house.

"I was just about to play ULO one night when this shooting star crashed down in my backyard!"

As what he said, a meteor crashed outside of his house, which he noticed the noise at his backyard and left the house to check it out.

"When I took a closer look at it, I saw a purple meteorite in the middle of the crash site. I was uninterested at first until that meteorite reminded me of that mission that I was got grounded."

Remembering that mission, Tony decided to take a closer look at the meteorite. But when he did, he his eyes start to change into dull green.

"But when I got closer to it, I felt something's controlling me. Somehow, it felt kinda good unlike the previous mind controls in the past."

After he snapped out of his trance, he decided to grab a small chunk of the meteorite and go back to his house.

"I tested out it's power many times and I tell you, that rock has the relaxing mind control I ever experience," Itzal finished.

"And you want to examine it's contents or something, right?" Tina asked.

"Yeah, I was hoping to do something helpful for me and also, to use it's powers for good."

"Well then, I'll see what I can do. Right now, you better join your friends before they take off."

"Okay, thanks in advance, Ms. Reyheart."

Itzal then left her office, leaving Tina wondering what to do next with his meteorite.

As two jets took off into the night sky, down below at the Calm Beach Hotel, the members of Big Time Rush (Kendell, James, Carlos, and Logan) entered the hotel lobby. With them were their producer/manager, Gustavo Roque, his assistant, Kelly Wainwright, Kendall's mom Jennifer, and his little sister Katie. They all then headed to the front desk.

"We have four reservations under Roque. That's R-O-Q-U-E," Gustavo said. The clerk typed on his computer.

"Ah yes," he said. "One four bed suite, one two bed and two one beds. Just sign here please."

Gustavo signed the papers and the clerk took them and handed them all their keys.

"Oh and also you four," he said to the boys as he unrolled a large BTR poster. "Could you autograph this for my three daughters? They are mega-fans!"

"Sure," the four of them said as they took pens and signed the poster.

"Thank you! Have a pleasant day and stay!"

As the guys are heading to the elevators, Kendall then says to his friends, "I still can't believe we are playing at the Staples Center! Home to the Lakers, the Clippers, the Sparks, and or course, the Kings!"

"Yeah, I wanna see if there are any of those team players hanging around," Carlos said.

"I wonder if any of those Laker girls will ask for my autograph?," James said.

"I don't think Lucy would like that very much, James," Kendall said, reminding James of his committed relationship with Lucy Stone.

"Oh, right."

"Well I hear there are a lot of mysterious event going around this part of L.A. that have some connection to the MMORPG, Universal Legends Online," Logan said. "And I wanna do a little investigating."

"NO!" the others shouted at Logan in desperate tone.

"Please, we can't mess this up after that Tween Choice Awards incident," Kendall reminded.

"Plus, we need to make a good first impression on the man that will help us expand the BTR popularity," Kelly added.

"What man," Carlos asked.

"He's supposed to be a big music legend, a guitar player too," Gustavo said. "And he could very well bring Big Time Rush, to the big time top of the musical world."

"Well I for one can't wait to meet him," James said.

"Us too!," the others agreed.

At the outskirts of South Korea, three -VersalCycles- dashed across the road as it heads to Dixon Research Lab as the Runners reads more info about it on their holographic computers on their cycles.

"According to the GPS, we're almost at the Dixon Lab," Jordan informed her friends.

"And according to the website link that Ms. Reyheart gave us, the lab contains top high-tech security system to prevent robbers and spies who will steal blueprints for their knock-offs," Itzal explained. "Looks like we have no choice but to sneak in."

"Then I got a plan to prevent sneak-in to vents. Come on!" Zeus ordered as he and the main Runners get to their destination.

At Paris's Le Glimmerz, the S-Runners entered it through the rooftop's air vent.

"Time to start investigating, guys. The sooner we're done here, the sooner I get those BTR tickets!" Calla said as she keeps thinking about the upcoming concert.

"Andre said he already ordered eight, so you need to be patient or this investigation will become a bust," Bren said to Calla. "Besides, these investigating parts always make me feel sleepy."

After checking some broken counters, Kani says, "Judging by these labels, the jewel the robber stole are diamonds, sapphires, and opal jewelries. The others are still in place. As for the clues, Amica will help us out find them on the ground, plus she might train hunting skills while she's at it."

Amica then began to sniff around to look for any scent of the culprit. She suddenly catches something and let's out a growl.

"What did you find, girl?," Kani said as the S-Runners walked up to them. They spotted Amica standing next to a footprint on the floor along with a mysterious puddle of blue liquid.

"What do we have here," Bren said. "Calla can you make a scan of that footprint?"

"Gladly," Calla said as she activated an Scan App on her RunCom. Kani then collected the liquid in a tablet.

"I'll send this to Tina for testing. Might give us a lead on our thief," she said.

"Good now let's get out of here," Bren said.

Inside the lab, cameras are scanning around the hallway for intruders when an invisible force enters one of the lab, namely the robbery crime scene. As the door closes behind it, it revealed that it's the main Runners who are invisible as it's effects fades away.

"-Camo-Crystal-, really works on lab sneak-ins," Zeus quipped.

"Nice job, Z. Now, time to investigate the crime scene!" Jordan said in a determined tone. "The first step is that we need to find out what kind of top-secret project did the culprit stole."

"Leave that to me," Zeus said as he walked over to the containment unit that had the missing project. He typed up info on the unit's kiosk and discovered the origins.

"According to this, the project is a hypnotic program that can be mixed into to any kind of device and hypnotize anyone who hears it transmitted."

"Another mind control program," Jordan said exasperated. "Great!"

"Hmm, that sounds familiar," Itzal said. "But how'd they get the containment unit open?"

Jordan looked at the unit and observed some additional damage to some things behind it. "Looks like some sort of shockwave or soundwave did this."

"Also familiar," Itzal said. "Anything else?"

"Nothing," Jordan said. "Now we just need to figure how to get back to L.A., and look on any past villains who use shockwaves, ASAP."

"Ms. Reyheart said I need to use my portal creation when necessary," Zeus reminded.

"And the concert's is today at 5 PM, so we need to hurry back to LA if we need to continue investigating," Itzal said in a serious tone.

"Right, let's get going."

The Runners re activated their cloaking devices and exited back to the hall.

The next LA morning in Staples Center, Big Time Rush are currently rehearsing "Love Me, Love Me" as Gustavo, Kelly, Katie, Ms. Knight, and a mysterious man wearing a black hat and a glove watching them. When they finished, they get down the stage to meet with them along with the man.

"Very impressive, boys," the man said.

"Thanks Mr…." Logan said.

"Stringer, Stephan Stringer," the man introduced himself.

"Mr. Stringer," Kendall said. "Nice to meet you."

"Mr. Stringer has promised to take Big Time Rush way beyond the next level if he enjoys the concert tonight," Kelly said.

"Well you won't be disappointed, sir," James said. "Because we will blow you away!"

"I'm sure," Stringer said as he walked off.

"Okay, dogs, rehearsals are done," Gustavo said. "Go and do as you please, but try to keep out of trouble."

"No worries, Gustavo," Carlos said. "We'll be fine."

"Well, I'm going to see if Magic Johnson will buy some of my new Big Time Rush beach towels," Katie said.

"And I'm going with you to make sure you don't annoy him," Mrs. Knight said.

"And Kelly and I will stay here and do the final prep for the concert backstage," Gustavo added.

As Katie and Mrs. Knight left and Gustavo and Kelly headed backstage, the boys pondered what to do with their free time.

"Okay guys we have 6 hours before the concert starts," Kendall said. "What should we do?"

"I'm not sure," James said.

"Me neither," Carlos said.

"Dunno," Logan said.

"Man, what do we do," Carlos said. "So many choices, but no decisions. It's almost like living in a video game."

"Speaking of which, those rumors of that game, ULO, have been saying that in-game monsters and mysterious warriors have been popping up up all over town in the last few months, several time here in the Staples Center" Logan said. "We could do a little investigating to occupy our time?"

"No Logan," Kendal said. "Last time we did that at the Tween Choice Awards, we got caught in another world domination plot. Something always happens when we run off to investigate some strange occurrence or something."

"Maybe," James said. " But everything also always works for us in the end too. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?"

The scene then changed to them searching the four bowels of the Staples Center.

"Okay, now where are we," Carlos asked.

"Apparently very lost, James," Kendall said as he glared at James.

"Not again!," Logan groaned. "Now what?"

"Well come on, look on the bright side," James said. "At least there are no evil henchmen this time."

As soon as he said that, however, the four found themselves surrounded by some mystery men dressed all in black and silver.

"You were saying?," Kendall said with a glare at James.
