With the S-Class Exams finally over, it's time for the return of Fairy Tail! I know there have probably been questions about how this would go and here it is! I hope you all enjoy!
April 3, X791
Morning came by and Jason was still asleep, tossing and turning.
(Jason's Dream)
Jason was being confronted by his great grandfather in the Lexus mansion.
"You had the audacity to lie to me?!" His great grandfather scolded him with eyes that pierced right through his soul.
"It's true." Jason said. "I asked Kagura to help pose herself as my girlfriend so you would get off my back."
Before Alexander could have an outburst, the sound of the doors being slammed open interrupted him and he and Jason turned their attention to it.
"Jason!"
Jason couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"Wendy… is that you?" Jason asked.
At the doors was a 19 year old Wendy Marvell (A/N: Think of the picture Reedus drew of what she would look like after 7 years.) smiling at him and Jason ran over to her.
"Yes, Jason… It's me." Wendy answered.
"I… I don't believe it…" Jason said, looking like he was about to cry. "You… You don't know how worried I was when I heard Tenrou Island was destroyed. How did you survive?"
"It's a long story. But once my guild mates knew about our return, I came straight here."
"Jason, who is this girl?" Alexander questioned as he approached them.
"Great grandfather, this is the girl I've been waiting for." Jason said before turning back to Wendy. "Wendy, I know this is awfully sudden and I completely understand if you say 'no', but… I'm just going to come out and say it. Wendy, I love you! I've been in love with you ever since I met you! And my great grandfather is pressuring me into marriage, so… Wendy Marvell, will you marry me?"
Jason got down on one knee and saw that Wendy had a shocked expression on her face at first, but that turned into a sweet smile.
"Jason… Yes. Yes, I will marry you!"
"Really?" Jason asked, happily surprised.
"I've been in love with you since we met, too!"
"Oh, Wend-"
(End Dream)
Before the dream could continue, the morning sunlight hit Jason's face and forced him to wake up. As he woke up, he groaned and sat up in his bed.
"… That was too nice of a dream… Why couldn't it have lasted a bit longer?"
Jason knew there was no point in dwelling on it, so he decided to get dressed and head to the guild hall.
As soon as Jason arrived at the Phoenix Dawn guild hall, Spiral and Ethan ran up to him.
"Jason, we have really good news that you've got to hear!" Spiral said.
"What is it?" Jason asked.
"They're back!" Ethan said. "The missing Fairy Tail members have finally returned!"
Jason couldn't believe what he was hearing, especially after the dream he just had.
"R-really?" Jason asked. "I'm not still dreaming, am I?"
"It's not a dream, Jason." Blaise said as she walked up to him. "And we're going to stop by and introduce ourselves. We'll be leaving for Magnolia in an hour."
"I'll head back home and grab some things!" Jason said, excited. "I'll meet you at the train station in a half hour!"
Jason immediately ran out the door and as Spiral was about to walk out the door, Blaise's voice stopped him.
"Spiral…" Blaise said.
"Hm?" Spiral stopped and turned back to look at her.
"I'm worried about Jason." Blaise said. "I should've told him, but I don't think he could bear hearing it."
"What?" Spiral asked.
"… You'll see when we get there." Blaise replied. "Go get your things packed, Spiral. I'll meet you at the train station in less than an hour."
Spiral simply looked at Blaise as she walked back to her office.
On the train ride to Magnolia, Blaise had brought along Jason, Spiral, Ethan, Hikari, Sakura, Flora, Frost, Cole and Aqua to meet with Fairy Tail. Both Dragon Slayers were suffering from awful motion sickness that practically forced them into zombie-like states.
"I can't believe this is actually happening." Aqua said. "It's a miracle!"
"It's been well over six years since they supposedly disappeared and thought to be dead." Spiral said. "On top of them being some of the most notable wizards of their time, the fact that they survived an encounter with Acnologia probably makes this the biggest news in Fiore right now."
"And I'm here to make sure you don't get any naughty thoughts about some of the women there." Hikari said to Spiral. "I know you secretly keep the photo spreads of Titania and the She-Devil hidden from me."
Spiral nervously chuckled and he turned to Jason to change the subject. "So, Jason, you're probably taking this news the best out of all of us."
"I know I'm excited simply getting to see Team Natsu in the flesh." Ethan said.
Jason wasn't listening to them at all, instead staring out the window, admiring the scenery that passed by and was lost in his own thoughts.
"… Jason?" Spiral asked.
"Spiral, let him be with his thoughts." Blaise said.
Spiral could tell that Blaise didn't seem particularly excited about Fairy Tail's return.
"… Master Blaise, is there something you're not telling us?" Spiral asked.
"You'll know for sure when we get there." Blaise answered.
Spiral knew that she would only continue being cryptic, so he decided to just drop the subject until they arrived in Magnolia.
"Oh, I forgot to mention that some of my friends from Lamia Scale who were acquainted with some of the returning Fairy Tail wizards will also be joining us." Blaise said.
"I'm sure you're pretty excited to see your guild mates again." Aqua said.
"Not just them." Blaise said. "In fact, I'm more excited to finally see Fairy Tail as the guild I admired over seven years ago."
The Phoenix Dawn wizards got off the train and were walking through the streets of Magnolia.
"So, where is the Fairy Tail guild hall anyway?" Spiral asked.
"Well… The original guild hall had to be taken by the town of Magnolia, and as the number of job requests and guild members dwindled, they had to move it to a new location." Blaise answered.
"And what location is that?" Spiral asked.
A few minutes later…
"Here." Blaise said.
What they saw before them didn't even look like a guild hall; it looked more like a farm. If it weren't for the 'Fairy Tail' sign, they would have never been able to find it.
"What a dump." Cole said.
"They've been going through financial troubles for years." Spiral said. "Of course their place wouldn't look all that great."
"What are you guys waiting for?" Jason asked. "I'm sure the Dragon Slayers would love to meet you, Sakura, Frost."
"You're awfully chipper." Flora said.
"Come on, let's go in!" Jason said.
"Wait, Jason." Blaise said, walking ahead of the others. "As the Guild Master, I feel I should go in first."
Blaise walked into the 'guild hall' with the rest of the Phoenix Dawn wizards following her lead. Upon entering, she could see that the place was incredibly lively.
"Wow, even during my time with this guild I've never seen the place so lively." Blaise said.
"May I help you, ma'am?" An old, short man approached the Phoenix Dawn wizards.
"You must be Makarov." Blaise said as she shook hands with the old man. "Sorry I haven't introduced myself. Right after you disappeared, I joined Fairy Tail for a few years."
"You mean you're a member of our guild?" Makarov asked.
"Well, I actually started my own guild a few months ago, Phoenix Dawn." Blaise answered. "Some even came with me to meet the Tenrou Island team."
Makarov analyzed the other Phoenix Dawn wizards.
"Your children all seem very happy to be in your guild, and they seem powerful, too." Makarov said. "So far, you're doing a fine job as a Guild Master."
"Thank you." Blaise said. "That means a lot coming from the Master of Fairy Tail. Actually, some of my children are big fans of some of your children."
"Feel free to join the party!" Makarov said, grabbing a mug of beer. "Lamia Scale already joined a little while ago!"
"He seems sprightly for an old geezer." Cole said.
"Anyway, where are the Dragon Slayers?" Sakura asked.
"Hey, I see Natsu over there!" Ethan said, pointing toward a pink-haired boy trying to eat fire.
"All right, time for-" Sakura was about to say until Frost pushed her out of the way.
"Oh, no you don't." Frost said as she ran toward Natsu. "I call first dibs!"
"Hey, wait!" Sakura shouted as she chased after Frost.
Flora and Cole flew behind them.
"Wow, they can be so immature at times." Flora said.
"Huh? Hey, it's Juvia!" Aqua said as she ran off, too. "Hey! Juvia!"
"Let's go introduce ourselves, Spiral." Hikari said, dragging Spiral with her to meet the others.
"I'm going to go mingle with the others." Ethan said to Jason.
When Ethan left, Jason was the only member of Phoenix Dawn still at the front doors of the guild hall. He kept looking around for some clue as to where he could find Wendy, but his train of thought was lost when he was approached by a familiar red-haired wizard in armor.
"You're a member of Phoenix Dawn, aren't you?" She asked before holding out her hand. "I'm-"
"Erza?" Jason asked. "Wow, you haven't changed a bit! The last seven years have really been kind to you!"
"Hm? Do I know you?" Erza asked.
"Oh right, I was only 12 when I first met you guys." Jason said. "You helped me find the conviction to become a stronger wizard. Maybe this will remind you."
Jason extended his left arm out the open door and shot a powerful gust of wind from it.
"I remember you now." Erza said. "You're Jason."
"I've been waiting for you guys for over six years." Jason said. "Hey, can I ask you something? I haven't seen Wendy yet. Do you know where she is?"
"Wendy, there's someone here who wants to see you!" Erza called out.
Jason was feeling so excited that he could barely contain it, but what he saw wasn't what he was expecting at all.
"Wendy, you remember Jason, right?" Erza asked.
The girl that approached Jason and Erza was definitely the Wendy Marvell he remembered from 7 years ago. In fact, she looked like she hadn't aged at all during the time they were missing. At first, Jason thought his head was playing games with him again.
"She looks…" Jason said.
"Right before Acnologia attacked, we were all put in a time stasis for seven years." Erza stated. "That's why we all look the same as when you last saw us. None of us aged."
"It's great to see you again, Jason!" Wendy said, a bright smile beaming across her face.
Jason wasn't sure how to react to this. He was certainly happy that Wendy was still alive and still as nice a person as she was over six years ago, but he mostly felt like his heart was being torn to shreds. As tears started to fall down Jason's face, Wendy noticed them.
"Hey, is something wrong?" Wendy asked.
"… No, just…" Jason knelt down to meet Wendy at eye level and gave her a hug. "… It's really great to see you again…"
A/N: And I'm thinking about ending the chapter there. I did plan for something else, but I figured I should let some things develop between the interactions of the characters, especially Jason and Wendy. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed it! Stay tuned for next time!
