Chapter 11: Remember Me

The airport was big, funny since the atmosphere seemed to grow busier by the second and the air was becoming suffocating. Elena stared at her parents, the world to her going in slow motion as she was lost for words. She could feel the anger boiling up inside of her. As if it wasn't hard enough coming here, now Klaus has set her up! Damon looked up, ignoring the person on the other side of the phone as he looked between the three of them, Elena's fury showing up front. Well this was a great start to their trip, she was going to shred him apart later, this being his idea and all. Ending the call, he lifted Elena's suitcase with his and watched as she was trying to look at anyone, but her parents. People pushed past them to get through, either leaving the airport or entering.

"Nothing to say to us then?" Miranda questioned her daughter, crossing her arms.
"Hello people who raised and abandoned me!" Elena replied, faking a cheerful voice.

Forcing a smile, she stormed off past them as they stood, their expressions not amused. Damon held back a laugh as he cleared his throat and followed her outside, knowing she was going to need a decent drink when they got to the house. The brunette stood by her parents range rover, tempted to kick the wheels in, but knew it wouldn't do any good for her. Opening up the trunk, she crossed her arms in frustration and blew her hair out of her face as Damon walked out, a grin slipping onto his face.

"What are you laughing at?" Elena glared at him, frowning.
"Oh Lena…sweetheart," He shook his head, lifting their cases into the trunk, "You aren't going to win over you parents like that."
"Oh BELIEVE ME, I wasn't trying to win ANYTHING from them!"
"Someone needs a drink." Damon gave her a look, shutting the trunk as he tugged her over to him.
"I don't want a drink, I want to go home to our LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL and…may I say the SEXY apartment. I hate it here."
"It is your home." He told her, tucking a stand of hair behind her ear.
"USE, use to be my home as in past tense."
"Take a deep breath, count to 10 in your head and let it out, you'll feel like you're walking on air. It's like when you punch someo-"

"Ohhhhh, like this?" Elena asked sweetly, bring her fist in to his chest as he hissed in pain.
"Alright, OWH! Not me! What've I done wrong?"
"THIS was all YOUR idea. We could have been at home making out and cuddling on the couch!" She whined with a pout.
"Well," He smirked, pulling her close as she laughed.
"No!" Elena grinned, poking him, "Be good."

"Make me." Damon whispered in her ear as she moaned.
"You ass."
"You kids ready to go?" Grayson questioned as him and Miranda walked out, seeing their little display.
"Sure, why not." Elena added sarcasm into her voice as Damon opened the back door for her, "Thank you."

Climbing into the back of the car, Elena shuffled along, moving to the far side as Damon climbed in after her and shut the door behind him, looking around the car. He couldn't stand cars when he felt like he was a giant. Cracking his knuckles, he looked over at Elena who was struggling with her seatbelt, trying to stab it into the slot again and again, a cute look of frustration on her face. Laughing, he watched as she looked up and blushed, just realizing that he had been watching her the whole time.

Reaching over, he took it from her and slowly slotted it in as he dealt with his own belt, looking out the window at the airport. It wouldn't be long before they were seeing this place again. Grayson and Miranda got into the front, Grayson starting the car as they both pulled their belts on. Elena lay her head back, breathing deeply as Damon reached over, taking her hand in his and gave it a squeeze. Smiling over at him, she looked out the window as they pulled away from the airport. So the fun begins.

"You've missed so much since you left." Miranda spoke, opening her window.
"Oh bummer, I'm depressed now." Elena commented, twirling her hair around her finger.
"Klaus and Caroline had a wonderful honeymoon, and wedding." Her mom gave her a look.
"I'm sure they did, woop! Go them!" Rolling her eyes, the brunette looked at Damon as he was trying not to laugh.
"Your brother and Bonnie have been hitting if off."

"If you didn't see that coming, than your blind." Damon grinned, rolling his eyes.
"It's so nice to have you home Elena."
"Don't count your blessings. I came here to be a good friend, not like I got the same respect, but I'm different. As soon as this is done, I am going back home and will never return, meaning I'd rather chew my own arm off."

The car fell silent as Elena let out the breath she had been holding, finally glad to let it all out. They didn't deserve anything better from her after the way they treated her. She was better off without people making her miserable and bringing her down when she was happy. Driving up the street, the brunette realised they were nearly there and went wide-eyed when she seen the parade of cars parked outside, filing the yard and the driveway. Oh no, they didn't. They threw a BLOODY house party. Groaning inwardly, she looked over at Damon with a bigger pout than before as he leaned over kissed her.

"It will be alright." He whispered, kissing her cheek.

Grayson parked up where he could and hopped out of the car, going around to the other side as he helped Miranda out. Rolling her eyes, Elena watched as Damon climbed out and held the door open, his hand out for her. Smiling softly, she moved over, placing her hand in his as she lowered herself down from what seemed to be a monster truck. Closing the door, he heard the music coming from out the windows as she rubbed her neck.

"Come on now Elena. Let's go say hello to everyone." Miranda gave her a grin, walking inside with Grayson.
"Let's run quick! I could figure out how to hot wire a car in 30 seconds." Elena begged, grabbing onto his arm.
"As impressive and…sexy as that would be," He shrugged, licking his lips, "Remember what I said? Why we're here?"
"Uh, because I am the bigger and better person." Elena muttered, crossing her arm.
"That a girl. Now let us go and get you nice and drunk."

They see that the door was left open and walk in, not expecting what they saw. People dancing around to the music, people going around serving champagne and food on trays, along with a bar in the lounge area. Over the top as always. Elena took a deep breath as Damon kissed her knuckles and took her through the crowd and into the kitchen, where they seen two people that they were happily familiar with.

"Jeremy! Bonnie!" Elena grinned.
"Elena?" Bonnie swiveled, a big smile on her face as she shrieked, running over and hugging her tight, "My god, you came!"
"Of course I did!" The brunette returned the hug.
"Hey man." Jeremy shook Damon's hand as he smiled.
"Nice to see you again."

"Hey Jer." Elena turned to her brother, hugging him as he pulled her close, giving her what they called a 'teddy bear' hug.
"Hey there Lena!"
"I didn't think you would come." Bonnie mentioned with a shrug, sipping her drink.
"Ah, you're lucky I did. If it wasn't for Mr Know it all over there, I would be at home relaxing."
"Well, that Mr Know it all is smart. Keep him." She winked at Elena as she blushed, ignoring Damon's satisfied smirk.

"Elena, honey." Miranda walked in, "Come and say hi to everyone, you too Damon."
"Uh." Elena was dragged out as Damon grabbed a beer, popping the lid as he followed them into the crowded atmosphere.

"Ah Elena, there you are." Jules gave her a big smile.
"Hey grandma." Elena kissed her cheek, faking a smile as she rubbed her neck, looking around at everyone in the room.

"The party animals have arrived!" Caroline's voice echoed through the house.
"We're here to get this house warming started!" Klaus smiled, carrying a basket of goods.
"I hear ya." Stefan's voice piped in.

Elena panicked, rubbing her arm as she gave Jules and her mom a weak smile, before moving quickly and through the crowd as she went upstairs, taking three stairs at a time. Walking to the bathroom, she walked in and closed the door over as she paced. Shit. Taking a deep breath, she looked in the mirror. She could do this shin dig, everything would be fine. She was the bigger person, the best person, the loyal person. Hearing the door, she jumped in panic and sighed in relief as she seen Damon poking his head in.

"God, you scared me!" She rubbed her chest in relief, giving him a look.
"Was just checking your weren't planning an escape route out the window is all." Damon smirked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"YOU are lucky I'm not! I can't deal with this. I thought I could, but UH!"
"Hey, you can." Taking her face in his hands, he gave her a stern look, "Your tongue is wicked when you cut people in two, and you'll be able to handle them with an attitude like yours."

Grinning softly, he watched as she blushed and laughed, leaning forward to kiss him. Wrapping his arms around her, he lifted her against him and twirled her curls around his fingers, feeling the shiver make its way up her spine. Biting his lip, she smiled in satisfaction as he moaned and lifted her up onto the counter. Pulling away, he pressed his hands either side of her and narrowed his eyes.

"Evil." He whispered.
"Special." She corrected, patting his cheek.
"Yeah, you are special." He tapped her forehead, smirking.
"Dick!" She gasped, leaning forward as she kissed him again, laughing.

A knock at the door pulled them out of their fun time as Elena frowned in annoyance and crossed her arms, jumping down from the counter. Why was nothing going right for her today? Leaning against the wall by the window, she watched as Damon brushed himself down, trying to look half presentable. He thought that was bad, wait until later, depending on if her mood got worse. Pulling the door open, his eyes narrowed.

"You." Damon crossed his arms.
"Damon right? I'm sure you remember me, I'm Stefan."
