Chapter 14: What is Going On?
"Alright now, calm down everyone!"
Laughter erupted throughout the classroom as the kids ran around wild and hectic, shrieks of excitement heard as they jumped over the brunette happily. Moving her arm, she covered herself from the jumping of the kids as she laughed along with them.
"Careful now!"
The bell rang as all of the kids hugged the brunette lying on the floor and grabbed their bags, running out as the bell came to a stop. Smiling big, she slowly got to her feet and looked around at the mess.
"Oh kiddies." She laughed, placing the books back onto the shelf and nudged the bean bag back into the corner with her foot. Making her way over to the window, she looked out, a peaceful sigh leaving her lips, "Wow, look at that."
It was beautiful. The sunshine was bright and shining high in the sky. It was a hot afternoon, the kind of weather that some people would refer to as a sticky heat. The grass was fresh and green, the sprinklers on a 24/7 rollover. Who knew that there was a little place outside of New York, also known as Saratoga Springs that was full of life.
It has been 6 months. A long 6 months since Elena had last been to Mystic Falls. The day that Damon and her left was the last day she looked back. No contact with her parents at all. The only ones she really were Jeremy and Bonnie, but she hadn't seen them.
"Mmh." Elena looked down, her eyes falling to her now forming bump as she rubbed her hand over her stomach, a smile making its way onto her face, "You will be okay."
Hearing a knock on the door, she bit her lip and slowly walked over, pulling the door open as she gasped, wide-eyed, "Bonnie!"
"Surprise!" Bonnie grinned, pulling her into a hug as she gasped and pulled back, looking down at her stomach, "Elena!"
"What is all of the excitement about in here?" Jeremy walked in, grinning as he clapped his hands together.
"Jeremy!" Elena shrieked, rushing over as she hugged him close to her.
"Elena!" He hugged her close and pulled back, "Oh my god, you're-"
"Yes guys! I am pregnant!"
"Oh my god!" Bonnie shrieked in surprise and pulled her into a hug, Jeremy joining into the hug as he held them both close, "I can't believe it!"
"Wait!" Elena pulled back, looking between them, her eyebrows drawing together in confusion, "What are you two doing here? This is the first time I've seen you two since I left."
"Ah Elena-" Jeremy began.
"We are getting married!" Bonnie smiled big, holding her hand out as she showed the sparking ring on her finger. The girls stared at each other and shrieked in excitement.
"Well-" Elena began, holding up her hand too, showing an engagement ring of her own.
"Ahh!" Bonnie jumped up and down, "Engagement buddies!"
"Well girls, schools out! Let us grab some early dinner together!"
"Yeah, come on Miss Teacher." Bonnie lifted Elena's bag, following Jeremy out.
Elena took another bite of her sandwich and looked around the restaurant, the rush of waiters making it obvious how busy it is. A waiter brought over a fresh jug of water with a lemon in it and hurried back off to the kitchen.
"Really busy in here." Jeremy grinned, taking another of Bonnie's' fries, "One of the best around!"
"I love it. Such a wonderful atmosphere."
"Oh." Elena jumped when she heard the shrilling of her phone come to lift from her bag, "Hmm, hello?"
"Hey you." Damon smiled, "Are you okay?"
"A little tired from work. But just eating out." She smiled softly, tilting her head as she looked down at the table.
"Right," Clearing his throat, he sighed, "El, do you mind staying out tonight?"
"Uhm, yeah. Why?" Biting her lip, she placed her sandwich down.
"I have a meeting at the apartment, really important that I need to get sorted."
"Oh, okay."
"Sorry El. We will get finished by 8, alright?"
"That is fine. I will see you later then." Elena hung up, holding her fingers to her lips in deep thought as she looked down, "Hmm."
"What is it?" Bonnie frowned, raising an eyebrow.
"Just-" The brunette started, but tears formed in her eyes.
"Hey." Jeremy hugged her close, "What is it?"
"Its stupid." She whispered, "Not important."
"Honey, if it is making you that upset, then its something." Bonnie rubbed her arm.
"Just," Swallowing, she looked down, "Just...Damon asked me to stay out."
"To stay out?"
"He has a meeting...some people over. Uh, my hormones are just all over the place."
"Come on, shall we go for a walk girls?" Jeremy got up, holding his hand out for her.
"Thanks Jer," Elena gave him a watery smile and lifted her bag, looking back at Bonnie, "Come on."
The car came to a slow stop, the brunette's watery eyes focused on the building. Since they left the restaurant, Elena had been a mixed ball of emotions. Bonnie had asked what was most bothering her and Elena had mumbled through her sobbing state something about an affair.
"Well, here we are." Bonnie looked at Elena, "Come on."
"I-"
"El, it will be okay." Jeremy smiled, "Its Damon. He is in love with you. Doubt that has changed."
Inhaling, she watched as they got out of the car. She needed to stop and clam down. What was wrong with her? Hormones were really not something she was a fan of. Climbing out of the car, she looked up at the building again. Here goes nothing.
Knocking on the door, she bit her lip as the thought of searching for hr keys physically drained her. The door opened, a tired and concerned looking Damon standing in the doorway.
"Elena, I have been worried sick, its 10 at night, where hav- Bonnie? Jeremy?" He looked at all of them in shock, "What is going on?"
