This is the last fight of Day 1 for the Grand Magic Games! I hope you all enjoy!

July 1, X791

"For the last match of the Day One, we have Mermaid Heel's Araña Webb vs Phoenix Dawn Team B's Xanders Nosferatu!" Chapati announced.

Xanders tightened his gloves as the rest of his teammates saw him off.

"Time to show Mr. Yuki, Mr. Oceari, Ms. Suta and Ms. Momohime just how much stronger I've become since joining the guild." Xanders said.

"Whatever…" Melody said.

In the infirmary, Jayden was guzzling down a massive jug of water while lying in his bed with Wendy sitting next to him.

*I just need to keep drinking water like this and I'll be ready for tomorrow's games.* Jayden thought. *They shouldn't have to do all the work for me.*

"Um... Don't you need to breath?" Wendy asked.

Xanders and Araña took their respective positions in the arena, ready to start the fight.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Webb." Xanders bowed. "I consider myself a gentleman and would never inflict harm on a woman unless it was necessary. Seeing how this is a tournament, I'll make an exception. Please don't hold anything back. I want this to be a good fight."

"I plan to." Araña said.

"Begin!"

With the ring of the gong, Xanders's hands began to glow orange and took up a battle stance. Araña shot several webs at him, but he simply touched them with his glowing hands and absorbed the magical webs.

"Hmph…" Xanders smirked.

While Araña was in her state of confusion, Xanders took advantage of the opportunity and charged at her with an open palm.

"Drain Palm!"

Xanders slammed his palm against Araña's shoulder, pushing her back a few feet and draining some of her magic energy.

*I missed!* Xanders thought. *I meant to strike her in the solar plexus, but my nerves must've gotten the best of me. I haven't been in a battle like this since Lucius. I need to get into the rhythm of this fight before I can reach my true potential.*

Suddenly, webbing was attached to Xanders's wrist. Araña then pulled on the web, swung Xanders around and hurled him into the wall.

"Xanders, stop fooling around and get in the fight!" Frost shouted. "Why was he picked for our team if he's not gonna put up a fight?"

"From what I've heard, he spent most of his time on jobs training." Melody said. "He's been honing his skills to become stronger. Don't count him out just yet."

Xanders managed to recover from the crash while only sustaining a few minor injuries and dusted off his sleeves.

"Thank goodness my clothes are still intact." Xanders said. "They were quite expensive, you know? I should probably end this as quickly as possible before they become battle-worn."

Xanders now looked like he had a fire in his eyes and surrounded his hands and feet in an orange aura. He charged straight on at Araña as she fired off a series of webs at him, but he sidestepped each and every web shot at him and finally got right in front of her.

"Drain Roundhouse!"

With a roundhouse kick, Xanders swept Araña off of her feet.

"Drain Hammerblow!"

Xanders brought his palms together slightly off-center, locked his fingers downward and then swung them like a bat at her, sending her flying and rolling along the ground until she stopped. Araña tried to get up, but the attack was too powerful and drained too much of her magic energy and she collapsed onto the ground.

"And Xanders snatches another victory for Phoenix Dawn!" Chapati announced.

"It was an honor fighting with you, Ms. Webb." Xanders politely bowed before leaving the arena.

"Now that all of today's events have come to a close, here are the current scores."

Sabertooth 20P

Phoenix Dawn B 17P

Lamia Scale 16P

Phoenix Dawn A 15P

Fairy Tail A 11P

Raven Tail 9P

White Valkyrie 8P

Blue Pegasus 4P

Mermaid Heel 3P

Fairy Tail B 2P

"It's no surprise Sabertooth is in the lead as of now, but the newcomers in Phoenix Dawn are right on their tail with second and fourth place. Even though Fairy Tail Team B is in last place, Team A has taken a spot right in the middle of the rankings. Don't count them out just yet. With that out of the way, we'll see you all tomorrow."

Later that night at the Greedy Mimic, the Phoenix Dawn wizards decided to celebrate their victories for the day.

"You all performed incredibly well in today's games!" Blaise announced through the inn while holding a glass of wine. "Tonight, your meals and drinks are on me!"

Sakura was chowing down on a giant bowl of salad, Frost was doing the same with a bowl of ice cream, Spiral was munching on some chicken and Tristan, Lionel and Eden were guzzling down mugs of ale.

"Man, it was great to see Jenny again." Eden said with a drunken slur.

"Lucy was awesome in today's fight!" Lionel said, also drunk. "If it weren't for that cheap move, people would see just how strong she really is!"

"I hear that, but I sure didn't mind seein' those beauties fight." Tristan said; who was even more inebriated than anyone else in the inn. "I just hope that she didn't bang up that Flare girl too hard. I'd hate to see that bodacious bod bruised."

"You should be more concerned about yourself and your guild mates than your opponents." Aqua scolded Tristan.

"Chill, Aqua." Tristan said with a wide grin. "Now's a time to relax."

"We can relax when the games are over." Aqua said. "I'm going to go to the outskirts of the city to do some training before taking a bath and going to bed."

Aqua left the inn while everyone else continued to enjoy themselves. At one of the tables, Azusa, Hikari and Wilbur were sitting down and eating a regular dinner.

"I never took Master Blaise to be one to drink." Azusa said.

"This must be a very special occasion then." Hikari said. "I'm just glad she's having a classy drink."

"How are you ladies doing?" Jayden asked as he walked up to them and sat at their table.

"Jayden, shouldn't you still be resting?" Hikari asked. "A lot of your magic energy was drained."

"You sound like the Old Lady." Jayden replied before petting Wilbur's head. "Glad to see you're okay, Wilbur."

"It's not like I was THAT worried about you…" Wilbur looked away and blushed.

"Old Lady?" Azusa asked.

"Fairy Tail's medic." Jayden answered. "What was her name? Porlyusica? She told me to stay in bed and rest, but there's no way I'm staying down at a time like this. So I snuck out and came here with my special medicine."

Jayden pulled out a large bottle of water and started guzzling it down.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Hikari asked. "Won't you constantly have to go to the bathroom tonight?"

"People take bathroom breaks in the middle of the night all the time." Jayden said as he took a breath after drinking so much water. "Don't worry about me."

"That's what worries us!" Both Hikari and Azusa snapped.

"Hey, if he wants to fight, then I say he can fight." Haru said as she came over to them.

"It's not your call, Haru." Hikari said. "Only Master Blaise can decide whether or not Jayden can participate in the games tomorrow."

Hikari turned to look at Blaise, but she was busy drinking her third glass of wine.

"Keep the wine coming!" Blaise shouted to the bartender and started sobbing happily. "I'm so proud of my children!"

Hikari stared at Blaise in exasperation.

"Uh… Maybe now's not the best time…" Hikari muttered.

"Jayden, there's something we should tell you." Azusa said. "After the matches, Kagura came up to us and asked about you."

"She did?" Jayden asked with a slight blush on his face.

Back at the table where Spiral, Sakura and Frost were eating, Spiral had finished eating his chicken while Sakura and Frost were still eating seconds of their respective meals.

"So since I went in today's events, who's going to participate in tomorrow's?" Spiral asked.

"I was so bored watching you guys in that Hidden game!" Frost replied. "I think I can liven things up!"

"If Frost is competing, so am I!" Sakura said as she butted heads with Frost. "I'm not gonna lose to you!"

"Why am I not surprised?" Spiral muttered.

In the royal palace of Mercurius, the knight Arcadios approached a throne where the silhouetted king, Toma E. Fiore, was sitting.

"Your Majesty, the first day of the Grand Magic Games has come to an end." Arcadios said as he knelt before the king.

"Hm. They were all good fights." King Fiore said.

"Do you have any requests for the battles tomorrow?" Arcadios asked.

"Let's see… We'd like to see Sting and Rogue in battle, but we think we will put off such pleasures until later on… I heard that a disciple of the late Yao Sanguine is participating in the games under Phoenix Dawn's banner."

"You're referring to Miss Haru Hono? Then it will be done, Your Majesty. And who would you like her to face?"

"What about that one… The one from Fairy Tail who transforms? I can't seem to remember the name. It starts with an 'E', I think…"

"Understood. It will be done, Your Majesty."

"Make it a good fight."

"Any other preferences I should know?"

"Well… How is Jayden of Phoenix Dawn holding up? I heard he was sent to the infirmary yesterday. I have a very special fight in mind for him."

On the cliff overlooking Crocus, Foster was sitting and watching the stars in the sky when Meredy came up and he stood up.

"Those fights today were really something." Foster said.

"Yeah, no kidding. I'm glad Fairy Tail at least made some headway in the games."

"Morticia and I weren't there when you, Ultear and Jellal went to see them the other day. You always talk about them, but I've never gotten to meet them."

"It was thanks to Fairy Tail that the three of us decided to atone for our sins and form Crime Sorcière."

"If that's the case, I'll have to thank them."

"Why?"

"It's because of them that I met you."

"Oh, Foster…"

Meredy and Foster embraced and started to kiss each other passionately. After a few moments of making out, Foster separated his lips from hers.

"Meredy… Remember how I told you yesterday about how I wanted to ask Ultear something important?"

"Isn't it already resolved? We're a couple now, even though we have to hide it."

"You see… It's more than that. Meredy, I want to show you just how much I love you."

"Huh?"

Foster sifted his hand through his pocket, pulled out a beautiful ring and got down on one knee.

"Meredy, I know this is sudden, but we've known each other long enough that I know we love each other. We're already going to be spending the rest of our lives together, so why not make the best of it? Back in October, I asked Sakura of Phoenix Dawn to pick up this ring with the money I saved up. I snuck into Roseshade earlier so I could pick out the best ring I could. Meredy… Will you marry me?"

"Oh, Foster, of course I will!"

Meredy hugged Foster so tight he was nearly suffocating, but he didn't mind. The love of his life had just agreed to marry him.

"I love you, Meredy."

"I love you, too, Foster."

Foster and Meredy kissed again and her attention was drawn to a nearby waterfall.

"Follow me." Meredy said.

"Where are we going?"

Meredy didn't say anything and gently pulled Foster to the bottom of the waterfall. There was a cave right behind it and the two of them went inside it. After walking through it for a minute, they stopped at the sight of crystals with radiance so bright that they illuminated the dark cave.

"Foster, could you make a soft bed for us, please?"

Foster conjured up large bed of black leaves right on the cavern floor. Meredy jumped onto the bed and held out her hand for her new fiancée.

A/N: That's the end of the chapter! I hope you all enjoyed it! I should warn you that I might not have the next chapter updated as quickly as you'd like because I have school work that I need to attend to. Anyway, stay tuned for next time!
