Sorry this took so long. I was working on a chapter of another story, I had a con to go to, a test to study for and I just got Bloodborne. Anyway, time for the Chariot! I hope you all enjoy!
July 2, X791
It was almost dawn in the city of Crocus, but everyone there was asleep. The only people about to wake up were Foster and Meredy, who were lying in the makeshift bed of black leaves with a black leaf blanket covering up their naked bodies. Foster stirred awake and kissed Meredy on the cheek.
"Meredy, it's time to get up." Foster gently whispered into his fiancée's ear.
"Nnnnn… Just three more hours…" Meredy groaned.
"We have to get up or Ultear will put chili peppers in our mouths again."
"I'm awake!" Meredy shot awake from the bed.
Both of them got dressed and walked out of the waterfall cave.
"You go on ahead and tell the others that I went out early to gather some food for us… Which is exactly what I'm going to do." Foster said before looking at the ring on her finger. "And make sure to keep that hidden."
"Okay." Meredy nodded.
"And Meredy?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
As Foster left, she removed her ring and placed it in her cleavage before heading back to the cave where the rest of Crime Sorcière was sleeping during the course of the Grand Magic Games.
Arcadios was walking through the corridors of Mercurius until he saw Sylvia standing in the middle of the hallway.
"How did you get in here?" Arcadios asked as he readied his sword.
"I'm not here to cause trouble." Sylvia said. "I just have a small request. I wish for White Valkyrie and Sabertooth to face off again in today's games."
"And why should I do that?"
"Yesterday's match between our two guilds certainly got the crowd excited. King Fiore shouldn't mind if he requests some exciting matches."
Arcadios intently kept his eyes focused on Sylvia's and could tell that she was lying. He was almost tempted to unsheathe his sword and ask her to leave.
"I suppose the rules can be bent just this once, punkin." Mato appeared out of nowhere. "You make valid points, Ms. Sylvia. Even if it doesn't fit with the rest of the games, no one will argue with another great fight between powerful wizards."
"Thank you very much, Sir Mato." Sylvia politely curtsied.
As Sylvia turned around and walked away, a sly smile scrawled on her face.
In the Domus Flau infirmary, Wendy was asleep with her head resting on her arms right on top of an empty hospital bed. She slowly woke up to see that Jayden was no longer in his bed.
"Wha-Where's Jayden?!" Wendy exclaimed.
In one of the corridors of the stadium, all six members of Phoenix Dawn's Team A were walking.
"Are you sure you should be taking part in the games today, Jay?" Spiral asked. "It seemed like you lost a lot of magic power from that attack."
"I drank plenty of water." Jayden said. "I'll be fine."
"You have absolutely no worries, do you?" Hikari asked out of exasperation.
"None whatsoever." Jayden casually answered.
Aqua then grabbed Jayden and shot a stream of water down his throat.
"Aqua, what are you doing?!" Azusa questioned.
"Ensuring that he has all the magic power he needs." Aqua answered almost coldly. "We need to win today."
"Aqua-" Sakura raised her finger.
"No!" Aqua snapped.
"Okay." Sakura lowered her hand.
"Jayden!"
The six of them looked in front of them to see Wendy with an angry pouty face standing firmly.
"Oh… Hey, Wendy." Jayden said. "Wish me luck in the games!"
"You still need to recover!" Wendy said.
"I know you're worried about me, Wendy, but I can't just sit in one place for long especially with all these fights going on." Jayden said. "That's why I've been drinking water since yesterday; to replenish my magic energy."
"I don't buy it." Wendy said with an adorable pout.
"It's cute that you're worried about me, Wendy." Jayden said as he came up to her, knelt down and patted her on the head. "But I really want a chance to fight. If I don't get to fight, then that'd be good for both of us."
"… I'd rather you stayed behind, but…" Wendy mumbled.
"How about this?" Jayden suggested. "I won't participate in the first event, but if I'm called in for the fights then I'm going to fight."
"… Okay." Wendy looked down. "That doesn't sound too bad."
Jayden smiled. "I'll be fine."
The next event had already started with the Chariot, which consisted of the participants racing against each other on top of interconnected chariots trailing through the city of Crocus and all the way to the finish line at Domus Flau. Instead of Jenny Realite commentating on the games with Chapati and Yajima, it was Sorcerer Weekly's Jason. Everyone could see the happenings of the event on lacrima-vision. However, the members of Fairy Tail and Phoenix Dawn were staring with blank, dumbfounded expressions on their faces.
"… Shouldn't the word 'chariot' given them the hint that this would be vehicle-based?" Spiral asked.
"I'm just considering myself lucky that I decided to sit this one out." Jayden said.
Lagging behind in last place were Natsu of Fairy Tail Team A, Gajeel of Fairy Tail Team B, Sting of Sabertooth, Sakura of Phoenix Dawn Team A and Frost of Phoenix Dawn Team B. Due to the moving chariots, the motion sickness was getting to all of them.
"The only reason Frost is in this event is because she wanted to compete against Gajeel." Melody said. "And that idiot Sakura wanted to show her up. Now we'll be stuck in last place for the event."
"Now let's take a look at the leading wizards." Chapati said. "At the front is Raven Tail's Black Snake! He's followed by White Valkyrie's Momo, Blue Pegasus's Ichiya, Lamia Scale's Yuka and Mermaid Heel's Lislie!"
"That guy's a lot faster than I thought he'd be…" Momo muttered to herself.
"Wave Boost!" Yuka shouted as he shot magic canceling waves from his hands.
The waves increased his speed and prevented any wizards behind him from using their magic.
"Don't you dare…" Lislie started running along the side of the chariots. "Underestimate the chub!"
"A wave that nullifies magic? Then…" Ichiya rummaged through his shirt and pulled out two vials of blue liquid.
He popped the corks off of them and shoved the tips of the vials up his nose.
"Fleet-foot Parfume! Pointblank Inhale!"
Ichiya gained a burst of speed that allowed him to dash past Yuka, Momo and Lislie.
"Maaaaaaaaan!"
Back in the stands where the members of White Valkyrie were watching the event on the lacrima-vision, Bryant was standing up and yelling.
"Come on, Momo! Get your ass in gear!" Bryant shouted.
"There is nothing to worry about." Kara said. "We chose Momo for this event for a reason."
Momo requipped a scythe, placed it on her back and a green aura started to surround her body.
"Shinikaze!" Momo shouted.
With a single jump, Momo leapt over everyone's heads and far in front of Black Snake to take the lead.
"Holy smokes!" Chapati shouted. "All Momo had to do was requip that scythe and she claimed lead!"
"That scythe is one of the Denetsu no Buki." Yajima said. "A few generations ago, there was a ninja by the name of Yumi who could imbue her weapons with the powers of the elements. After saving the continent from a terrible calamity, she hid her weapons all over the world. It seems like this young woman has found one of them. This specific one she's using right now is called Shinikaze. As its name implies, its element is that of wind and grants its user a boost in speed and jumping ability, but the downside is that her defense and attack power are inversely affected."
"She is so cooooool!" Jason shouted into his microphone.
Momo kept running so fast that nobody could possibly get past her even if they gave it their all. Within the next minute, Momo reached the finish line and sliced the tape with her scythe before coming to a screeching halt.
"And Momo crosses the finish line in style!" Chapati shouted. "And she nets White Valkyrie 10 points!"
"Hope you enjoyed the show, Spiral!" Momo waved to Spiral and blew him a kiss.
Momo's attempt to flirt seriously ticked off Hikari, who was struggling to keep her anger bottled up. The other competitors, minus the five Dragon Slayers, were crossing the finish line.
"In second place is Black Snake, followed by Lisle, then Yuka and Ichiya!" Chapati announced. "And all that's left are those five in that pathetic race to be last…"
The race to be last was so embarrassing that everyone in the audience was laughing at them. However, that began to change as Natsu started to muster up enough strength to move.
"I gotta… move forward!" Natsu roared.
He was shortly followed by Gajeel. Sakura then looked over at Frost and glared at her.
"I… won't lose… to you!" Sakura shouted.
"We'll see… about that!" Frost shouted back.
Sakura and Frost were following Natsu and Gajeel's lead.
"This is really not cool!" Sting muttered. "They're getting serious even though they can't get any power going."
With one more roar, the audience fell silent.
"F-fine…" Sting said. "You guys can have this match! From here on in, we'll win every time! So we don't need a measly couple of points!"
"Don't go crying over your missing point later, kiddo!" Gajeel smirked.
"Answer me one question…" Sting said. "Why did you guys come to the Games? I'd never imagine the old Fairy Tail doing that! It's like now you care how strong you are or what other people think… The Fairy Tail I used to know marched to their own beat. They never gave a crap what anybody thought!"
"It's for my friends!" Natsu answered. "For seven years… all that time… they waited for us! It was hard on them… They had sad times… They got humiliated, but they just endured it… And kept protecting the guild… It's for my friends! I want to show them… That Fairy Tail will live on! That's why I gotta move forward!"
The Fairy Tail wizards in the stands were sobbing and even the audience was kind of tearing up. With one final push, Natsu and Gajeel managed to cross the finish line in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
"And I won't lose to you!" Sakura shouted at Frost.
As if she was experiencing the moment in slow-motion, Sakura noticed that even though their bodies were technically moving at the same speed in the distance from the finish line, Frost managed to take the spot above her because of her larger bust.
"DAMMIT!" Sakura shouted before she and Frost collapsed on the ground from the motion sickness.
Frost simply chuckled from winning simply because Sakura was flat-chested.
"And Frost beats her guildmate by a breast!" Chapati said. "Now that everyone has crossed the finish line, here are the updated scores!"
Lamia Scale 23P
Sabertooth 21P
Phoenix Dawn B 20P
Raven Tail 18P
White Valkyrie 18P
Phoenix Dawn A 17P
Fairy Tail A 16P
Mermaid Heel 11P
Blue Pegasus 10P
Fairy Tail B 6P
"Sabertooth falls to second place and Lamia Scale now has the point lead." Chapati said. "But the most impressive part was White Valkyrie making its comeback and they're currently tied with Raven Tail for fourth place. Anyway, let's start today's battles!"
The first battle was between Raven Tail's Black Snake and Lamia Scale's Toby. Tristan and Lucy, from their respective areas of the stands, looked over at the Raven Tail team to see that Flare was covered with bruises.
*Those bruises don't look like they were from Lucy's attack yesterday.* Tristan thought. *Did they abuse her for losing the fight?*
He then saw Alexei grab Flare by the face almost like he was threatening her and Tristan clenched his fists in anger.
As the battle went on, the combatants made a bet that the loser would reveal a secret to the winner. Toby lost and revealed that he couldn't find his lucky sock… which was around his neck the whole time. Then Black Snake tore it apart and Toby hysterically cried.
A/N: This chapter has gone on long enough and it feels like I ended it without being abrupt. Between writing these chapters, I'm going to be working on a short story that I'm planning to post on FictionPress at some point. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Stay tuned for next time!
