I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MATH TEACHERS ONLY LET YOU USE CERTAIN COLOR PENS!
ROBERTS POV
We drove back to Amity and crept bac to the buildings without running into any angry Factionless.
Cassia and I went back to the room we shared with our friends.
"What do you think is out there?" she whispered.
"I don't know. People," I said.
"Other than people. And do you ever feel like we're being watched. Or being kept in a pen. Why does the fence close on us? It' supposed to keep things out, but I feel like we're being kept in," she said.
I'd never thought of it that way.
"I don't know," I said, quietly. "But why would people want to keep us fenced in?"
"Because they're watching us! I don't know why or how, but they're watching us! The Edith Prior video showed a bunch of horrible pictures from somewhere, but I know that they aren't pictures from the Factions. It seemed horrible wherever she was. Maybe they're trying to create a utopia or something?" she said.
"They could be," I said. "But why would they want to have people be killed for bing different, having them fit into only one category? It doesn't make any sense," I said.
"I know," said Cassia, blowing out a puff of air. "But, it seems like it's better in here than out there. I hope that Peter and Caleb and everyone can help or tell us what's out there, or something. I just don't want to live here. I want to make my own choices. I want to keep peace and be a councilor but also jump off trains or do community service or read biology books!"
"I think that we all do," I said. "But we're all too scared to do anything about it."
