Sorry this took so long, but I had to get some work done on my other stories and not only did I have to wait for a part to get replaced, but I had to wait longer because it was irreplaceable and get a new one. Anyway, I'm thinking about ending this story a couple of arcs after the Grand Magic Games/Dragon Invasion. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!
July 4, X791
The fourth day of the Grand Magic Games was underway. The next event, while still unknown, was named 'Naval Battle', which gave the competitors the idea that water will somehow be involved. For some teams, it was easy choosing which members would participate in the event. Phoenix Dawn's Team A, on the other hand…
"I think I would be the best choice to partake in this event!" Jayden shouted.
"I'm just as much of a Water wizard as you!" Aqua argued with him. "Besides, you had your chance yesterday! I want a turn!"
"Then let's leave it up to a vote." Jayden turned to face his other teammates. "Guys, which of us should fight in the Naval Battle?"
"Aqua had a point." Spiral said.
"Give her a chance." Azusa agreed.
"I wish I could fight…" Sakura murmured.
Jayden sighed. "Oh well… Good luck out there, Aqua."
Aqua nodded with a determination.
Elsewhere in the stadium, Kyrin got up from sitting next to Kyo and walked off.
"Hey, Kyrin, where are ya goin'?" Kyo asked.
"To give our team some… words of encouragement." Kyrin answered without even turning back to look at him.
"Yeah, like they'd need it." Kyo scoffed.
Kyrin ignored what Kyo had said and continued making his way through the crowds of people.
A few minutes later, with every participant selected, the Naval Battle was about to commence. Each combatant was placed in a giant sphere of water that took up most of the space in the arena, which was where a battle royale would take place. Anyone to get knocked out of the sphere would be eliminated, with the first one out to only be awarded only two points and anyone that followed would get an additional point. Once the fight would get down to two combatants, there would be a sudden death round with a five-minute time limit. The person to get knocked out of the water sphere before time was up would automatically earn last place for the event. The contestants were Aqua of Phoenix Dawn Team A, Melody of Phoenix Dawn Team B, Lucy of Fairy Tail Team A, Juvia of Fairy Tail Team B, Jenny Realite of Blue Pegasus, Lisle of Mermaid Heel, Chelia of Lamia Scale, Sora of White Valkyrie and Minerva of Sabertooth.
*So… many… bikinis…* Sora thought as his face was turning red. He was wearing a pair of white trunks with a black stripe on each side.
Some of the other White Valkyrie members were feeling a little confused.
"Why's Sora just floating there?" Momo questioned. "He was never like that when we all went to the beach two weeks ago."
"I'd definitely be distracted if I was up against so many sexy ladies." Bryant said.
"Perhaps it's because he views those in his guild as family and doesn't think of us in such ways." Sylvia spoke up after sitting quietly in her seat.
"I told you all I should've went!" Momo pointed out.
"You just wanted to show off to that Phoenix Dawn wizard, didn't you?" Leah asked. "And while I'm on the subject, you're keeping me up in the middle of the night. Can you please show some restraint until we get back home?"
"You didn't have to say that in front of everyone, you know?!" Momo shouted.
"White Valkyrie is the first to get eliminated!" Chapati announced. "Looks like Sora was seduced by all the beauty in today's event!"
"You kidding me?!" Momo and Bryant shouted with shocked looks of exasperation.
While Juvia and Lucy were at a stalemate, Aqua looked around to see who she should target first. Aqua was wearing an azure-colored bikini that wasn't particularly revealing, especially compared to most of the other swimsuits worn by her opponents. Before she could make a decision, Minerva appeared behind her, seemingly out of nowhere, and was about to kick her in the neck. Aqua quickly ducked and dove down to avoid the attack. She formed a mace made out of water in her hand and swung it at Minerva, who dodged it easily. However, the mace extended out like a flail and nearly struck Minerva in the head, but she dodged it with ease. It was at that moment Aqua noticed something about her; her eyes gave off an intent to kill that was almost frightening to anyone around her.
(Flashback)
As Minerva was heading to the arena after changing into her swimsuit, Kyrin walked up to her.
"Milady, I have a request for you." Kyrin said. "I know you have no right to accept it, but it's very simple."
"What kind of request is it?"
An aura of cruelty suddenly emanated from Kyrin. "Aqua… Of Phoenix Dawn… Make her suffer. Make her wish she was never born. Punish her for simply existing. Hell, kill her if you need to. That is all I ask."
Minerva smirked sadistically. "I graciously accept your request."
(End Flashback)
In the stands, Kyrin had a small grin once Minerva had initiated combat with Aqua.
"What's with that creepy grin?" Kyo asked.
"Milady's going to teach my bastard 'sister' a lesson…" Kyrin muttered.
Within mere moments, Juvia had managed to knock every combatant except for Lucy, Minerva and Aqua. Unfortunately, she inadvertently knocked herself out of the water sphere as well. Now the only fighters left in the Naval Battle were Aqua, Lucy and Minerva.
Minerva smirked. "I must be quite lucky that the three of us are the ones left standing in this battle."
"And why's that?" Aqua asked.
"I want to have fun with both of you." Minerva motioned her hand toward the two girls.
Suddenly there were bursts of heat around Lucy and Aqua, almost like explosions that came out of nowhere. After recovering from the blast, Lucy tried to reach for her keys, but they weren't by her waist.
"My keys!" Lucy exclaimed.
Lucy looked over at Minerva to see her waving the bag of keys.
"When did she…" Lucy gasped.
Aqua tried to charge at Minerva, but with a wave of her hand Aqua was locked in place as if something had clamped her arms and legs. Minerva waved her hand again and another explosion nearly sent her flying out of the water sphere.
"What's her problem?" Jayden questioned. "She's not even trying to win, just to toy with them!"
"Well, Sabertooth hasn't exactly been fond of Fairy Tail since the beginning of the games." Spiral said. "So that I can understand somewhat, but what has Aqua done…"
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Both young men could make out the boisterous, almost maniacal laugh coming from the stands. They scanned around to see the source of the laugh was Kyrin, although they didn't know it was him.
"Does that jackass think this is funny? Because I'll show give him something to laugh at!" Jayden tightened his entire right arm in rage and ran off.
"Jay!" Spiral shouted. "You don't have to beat up a random person-And he's not listening…"
Both Lucy and Aqua took massive beatings from Minerva without even having the chance to touch her.
"Perhaps it's time I push you both out…" Minerva said. "Then again… Fairy Tail should learn their place."
Aqua was panting heavily from the pain.
"If I fail here…" Lucy spoke. "I won't be able to face my friends who got this far! No matter what you do, I won't give up!"
Minerva just leered at Lucy for a few seconds. Aqua then noticed Minerva's arm starting to move. She knew that Minerva would start mercilessly beating Lucy if she managed to hit her. The next thing she knew, she was swimming toward Lucy's location, pushed her toward the edge of the sphere and used a blast of water to completely push her out. Just as she left the sphere, Aqua was enveloped in another explosion.
Since Minerva and Aqua were the only ones left in the event, the five-minute sudden death round had officially started.
Minerva started clenching and shaking her fist in anger. "How dare you… I was teaching her a lesson!"
More explosions careened Aqua around the water sphere like a pinball, knocking her in every direction.
"GYAAAAAAAH!" Aqua screamed in pain.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Kyrin continued laughing.
"Dude, what's so funny?" Kyo asked with a raised brow.
"Yes… What's so funny?"
Kyrin stopped laughing and turned his head to see Jayden standing next to him, his arms trembling with rage.
"Just that the accident will finally learn her place." Kyrin answered. "She doesn't deserve to be called my sister."
"Sister… You're… Aqua's brother?" Jayden asked.
"My parents never intended to have her." Kyrin stated. "They didn't want to bother with another child, so they sent her to an orphanage. They had high hopes for me to represent the strength of the Mare name."
(Flashback)
Ten years ago at the Mare mansion, a thirteen-year-old Kyrin was training in his magic when there was a knock on the front door. He saw his father walk to the door and open it to show a seven-year-old girl with short blue hair standing in front of it and holding a piece of paper.
"What do you want?" His father asked.
"Um… Are you…" The girl read the paper. "Mr. Mare? Are you my daddy?"
Kyrin turned to the door and saw the girl.
"I'm… I'm your daughter, Aqua…" The girl continued.
"… I remember my wife giving birth to you…" The father spoke.
The young Aqua was about to smile.
"But I also remember we didn't want you, so go back to the orphanage." He continued.
Aqua's smile vanished and shock covered her entire face.
"… However… If you wish to live in this mansion, prove your strength. Become a wizard worthy of the Mare name. Do that and we'll accept you into our family."
Before Aqua could ask any more questions, the father closed the door and walked up to Kyrin.
"Kyrin, there is a rule in this world that you must know." The face on his father was dark and heartless. "Strength and power are all that matter. Our family has followed this rule for centuries. If that girl manages to surpass you, you're out of here. She was lucky to be sent to an orphanage, but you'll be cast out into the sea. And if you dare set foot on this island again… We'll kill you on the spot. Understood?"
Kyrin was frozen in fear upon hearing those words coming from his father.
(End Flashback)
"The only thing that could make this more enjoyable is if Minerva actually kills the bitch."
In that moment, Jayden had lost it. He punched Kyrin square in the jaw, knocking him out of his seat and breaking out a few of his teeth.
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Jayden yelled. "HOW CAN YOU TREAT HER LIKE THAT?!"
"Why you-!" Kyrin got up and was about to fight back.
Kyo shot up, activated his Steelbody and got between Kyrin and Jayden, grabbing them by the shoulder and collar, respectively and pushing them away as he stayed in between them trying to keep the peace.
"Enough, you two!" Kyo shouted.
Jayden just glared at Kyrin, gnashing his teeth.
"And the five-minute mark has already passed!" Chapati's voice reverberated throughout the stadium. "But Minerva has been dominating this whole round!"
Jayden looked over toward the water sphere to see Minerva holding a severely beaten Aqua.
"You still haven't suffered enough to my liking." Minerva said. "… I know…"
A strange portal appeared around Aqua's right arm, almost to her shoulder. With a sadistic smirk, the portal vanished and Aqua's arm along with it.
"AAAAAGGGH!"
"Don't worry about your arm." Minerva said. "It's still here in Crocus."
The water around them started to turn dark red from the blood running out of Aqua's severed arm.
"That must be painful. Good… Now for your legs…"
Before Minerva could do anything else, something had a firm grasp on her arm. It was Jayden, who was looking incredibly pissed off.
"That's enough!" Jayden said. "You've won!"
Jayden let go of Minerva, swam to Aqua and brought her out of the water sphere.
"I need a doctor!" Jayden shouted.
"Jay…" Aqua strained to speak while in Jayden's arms.
"Don't talk." Jayden said. "You need to rest."
"Just… Tell Lucy I hope she's okay…"
"Lucy?"
"I… pushed her out… to protect her… If anyone deserved all that pain… It was me…"
"Even so…" Jayden looked where Aqua's arm used to be. "She went way too far."
A/N: Managed to get this done within a few days! Not too bad! I've been really itching to write since having to take my laptop in back at the end of July. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!
