"Is she with you?" Lucy asked the boy on the floor after the quick but awkward silence reigned in the room, but his eyes remained on his friend, seizing her reaction.

"No, she isn't." He said and Alex let go of the breath she had been holding. Gesture that didn't go unnoticed by Edmund. The Just King frowned.

"We can talk about that later Rob, aren't you tired? Do you want have a bath?" She said worriedly, not wanting to discuss the matter at hand in front of the other monarchs. Alex was one to process the information she was given and then let others know about it, and about the plan she had to solve whatever was going on.

"We need to talk about his purpose in Narnia first." Edmund said firmly, earning a glare from his wife.

"I believe your majesty, that Robert's purpose here is no different than yours when you first came to Narnia, or my own for that matter…" She said looking straight into his eyes, and it was hard for the raven haired king not to flinch under her harsh glare. "Unknown." She finished and stood up, helping her friend afterwards, and letting him lay some of his weight on her.

"You're right Alex, this isn't the proper way to treat a new guest, much less if he is a friend of yours." Susan said, apologies written in bold letters in her eyes. The gentle queen knew how much Alex hated when her brother unauthorized her, and much more in front of others. "Cecilia, is the third room on the second floor of the west wing in proper conditions to host our visitor?" She turned to see one of the nymphs standing not too far.

"Yes your majesty, I can go prepare a bath for the lord as well." She offered and Susan nodded with a smile.

"That's very kind of you Cecilia, thank you. Go now." She dismissed the nymph of long, green hair who in seconds had disappeared.

"I can arrange some guards to escort you to the room if you'd like Robert." Caspian said after the room arrangements were done. They truly wanted him to be as comfortable as possible because being new to Narnia wasn't ever easy, and also because not many appreciated the appearance of people from other worlds, as each time they had come into the magical land in their history, bad news followed.

"That won't be necessary Cas, I'll escort him myself." Alex said with a small smile, feeling grateful that at least most of her friends were understanding and open minded regarding Robert's unexpected arrival.

"Absolutely not." Edmund said quickly but with firmness, throwing all authority Alexandra represented in the room through the window once more. Her good mood with it. "It's not proper Alexandra, you know that. What will the people think when they see you going inside his room? What will they say?" He tried to back up his argument while the queen got madder by the second. Ninarika silently snickering under her breath. This was going to be good.

"Oh, I bet you they'll say something very similar, if not the same thing they said when they heard about your little run-in with Lady Cassandra in the library, and who the fuck knows where else." She said every word filled with venom, and he could've sworn her eyes flickered to black quickly before turning back into their beautiful –but still upset –color.

Edmund was shocked about her language, her tone, but most of all, her knowledge of the library situation; but now at least he understood why her attitude had been so cold moments ago. He wanted to say something, to defend himself, but before that, he had to be sure of how much she actually knew about his relationship with Lady Cassandra.

The Just King just looked away and bit his tongue.

"If you all excuse us, we'll go now." Alexandra said in an indifferent voice, meaning that she had said the words only as a courtesy, and no matter if any of them dared to protest, she would go anyway.

"Nina." She said mentally to her friend as they were about to get out of the room. "Remind me to punch Edmund in the face one of these days."

The tigress smirked as she looked back to mock the King with her eyes. "My pleasure."

Once the Light Queen, her guardian and her friend had left the throne room, all the eyes were on the Just King.

"Why didn't you say anything Ed?!" Peter was the first one to talk, Edmund was not one to stay silent in front of such an accusation, unless it was true, and they knew as soon as they had heard Alexandra mention Cassandra's name that whatever it was, she had it all wrong.

"Yes Ed…What did Alexandra see?" Susan asked curiously.

"I don't know. That's why I didn't say anything." He sighed and ran a hand down his face. He was praying the subject would stay at that. The Just King was so tired from the emotional distress from the last day, he didn't feel in the mood to discuss this situation any further with his siblings.

"I have another theory." Lucy said looking at him, and when he saw her eyes, he knew he had been busted.

"Please do tell Lu." Peter encouraged her to talk when he saw her hesitate after looking for a long time towards Edmund. She had been waiting for a signal for her to shut up, but only found in her brother's eye true curiosity and a spark of fear of what she was to say next. Regardless, she decided to inform the others about her speculations.

"Ed here is craving any strong reaction from Alex, even if it's jealousy…Because he is feeling jealous himself." The youngest queen dared to say what was going through her head and had she been a boy, Edmund would have had her in a headlock. She was the youngest and most outgoing of the four siblings, but she was also the most observant of them all too.

Edmund stayed silent once more, surprising the others with the easiness he had accepted Lucy's accusation.

The Just King just raised from his seat and started walking away.

"Wait Ed, where are you going?" Susan was quick to ask.

"Well, I have a wife who's been missing for five years who now thinks I've been having an affair with the most insufferable woman in this reign, and who is now with a man I don't have any knowledge of…So you could say I'm going to take care of putting my life back together…Or die trying." He said and turned back around to keep his path towards the door.

"Alright..." Susan said. "And while you do that, remember to apologize for being so disrespectful of Alexandra's title moments ago, and try not to fight with her best friend nor her guardian."

Edmund smirked a little and turned back, confusing his siblings when they saw his expression, so different from the one he had mere moments before.

"That's exactly why the 'die trying' part fits right in." He said and finally left the room, leaving his sisters shaking their heads in exasperation, Peter with a small smile on his face, and Caspian full on laughing at his ironic joke.

But leaving jokes aside, the raven haired boy knew that he had a long way to travel before his life was as blissful as it was during the years before Alexandra's disappearance. And apparently, that road started with an apology.

He took a deep breath and started walking towards Robert's room, where his heart told him Alex was.
