All right update here we go! This chapter was a fun one to write.

Chapter 4: Plans that Go Half as Planned

Jack watched the other guardians run off after the boogeyman. He was kneeling next to Jamie as he laid down on the cold snow. The winter spirit had no idea how to keep his friend warm.

For a second, Jamie looked up at the sky like if he was lost in the infinite dark abyss above. He connected himself with the cold snowy ground below him as it suddenly awaked him with its impactful hit on his senses. He pushed himself slowly with his right arm and rubbed his head to connect himself with his surroundings. His whole body was shivering but his head was burning like fire. His eyes continued to look lifeless and dark.

"Jamie, you okay?" Jack asked nervously his mouth was dry. He couldn't believe that he let Jamie fall in the dark claws of that monster. Jack held his staff in his hand to get a grip on himself.

"Ugh," Jamie let out a grunt of pain as he rubbed his head, and then frantically looked around his surroundings, "What am I doing here?"

Jack was about to put his hand on Jamie's shoulder, but the boy moved away from. "Pitch, left you here," Jack's voice broke. He put himself together, "You're going to be okay. You're safe."

Jamie's face suddenly wrinkled into an anger that Jack had never seen. "Why am I here!? I'm so stupid I should be at the hospital!" He hit his head with his hand and stood up too quickly. Jack quickly rushed to aid his friend who was about to fall.

"Take it easy, Jamie-," Jamie fell right through him and landed on the ground. Jack gasped and touched his own chest to make sure he was still there. His blue eyes quickly darted back at Jamie.

Jamie fell on the ground and punched the ground as he tried to push himself up. "DAMN IT!" the boy growled. The boy pushed himself up angrily and dusted the snow of his clothes. He weakly tried to get up, but his legs couldn't get a clear grip on the cold ground. He angrily forced his balance on the unstable world around him, and let out a hateful grunt towards himself.

"J-Jamie….," Jack continued to feel his chest and held his grip on his staff. Jamie ran off. Jack stayed there speechless as Jamie ran off. Jack had lost Jamie.

He heard Tooth's yell and then ran off to aid the other guardians. He had questions! What did Pitch do? He held his staff close and quickly flew off towards the battle. He flew above the battle and saw a tiny black figure wave his whips at the guardians. What did Pitch do!? Jack prepared an ice attack towards the creature and froze the whips that were headed towards the guardians' direction.

"Sandy!?" Jack gasped as he saw Sandy look more like a fearling than the Sandman.

"Pitch, transformed him into his fearling we should've seen this coming," North said and protected himself against Sandy's whip.

"W-We can't fight him," Sandy blew Jack's staff away from him and was about to bring a blow towards Jack. Jack uselessly tried to protect himself with his arms, but Tooth came between the attack.

"We have no choice, Jack,"Tooth caught the whips with her bare hands and snapped it in half.

"No," Jack said and looked at the Guardian of Hope. Bunnymund didn't say anything and continued to be in fighting position.

"Jack, I need you to do something," Bunnymund said without looking at Jack, "I need you to freeze all of Sandy's whips."

"I-I can't fight a friend… also...I-I am weak now… I lost a believer," Jack couldn't bring himself to say anything more.

"Yes, you can Jack. I need you," Bunnymund paused, "to trust me."

Jack slowly nodded his head and flew up in they sky as Sandy led another wave of dark sand. Jack let out a yell and let out all his energy in one blow. He put half of his energy making sure that attack didn't hurt Sandy. His attack froze the wave of dark sand. A large mass of dark ice stood in front of the other three guardians. The ice reflected a darker appearance of themselves in it.

Jack fell to the ground and Tooth caught him. Jack was gently put on the ground where he saw the dark ice in front of him. It flashed memories when Pitch tried to make him join his dark side. Jack had a darker reflection of himself next to Pitch and then he glanced away.

This time, he was too weak to look away from the dark sand frozen with his power. He saw Bunnymund hopped off in the sky ready to follow his part of the plan. He trusted Bunnymund. He hoped he could.

Bunnymund landed in front of a possessed Sandy. That was more of a dark shadow of Sandman than the real one. Tooth flew behind him and North slid down the ice.

"Mate, you better snap out of it," Bunnymund spoke gently. Sandy prepared to fight some more. "I have no weapons," he said and put down his boomerangs.

"Bunny," Tooth whispered in shock.

"It's just you and me. I know you're in there and you're stronger than Pitch," he continued.

Sandy didn't respond and just formed dark sand in his hand. He then made a dark bow and arrow in his hands.

"Bunny!" North and Tooth yelled.

Jack was behind the dark ice unable to see beyond that dark ice, and heard the two guardians yell. He tried to push himself up as his legs wobbled underneath him, and fell back on the cold snow.

"Kangaroo… you better not die on me," he spoke without breath.

"Stay back, you two, I know what I'm doin'," he reminded them and faced Sandy's bow and arrow, face to face. "You hate fears Sandy you told me," he paused, "well sort of told me, anyway, you're one of the strongest of us. You would never become what you fear the most. I know you listenin' you, ol' gumby. You can fight this." The string was pushed back of the bow.

"I can't stand this!" Tooth shouted and North followed.

Sandy quickly point the bow away from Bunnymund. The Guardian of Hope caught a glance of Sandy's eyes, they looked sad and afraid. His eyes returned to their golden color.

"Sandy!" Bunny called out to his friend. Then, the darkness took over him.

North pulled Bunny away and muttered angrily in russian. The arrow missed and hit the gigantic dark ice.

"Oi, Sandy is still in there," Bunny told them. Sandy angrily rub his head. He crinkled his nose.

"Sandy?" North asked. Then, Sandy looked at him with his blood red eyes and ran off.

"Sandy, wait!" Bunny yelled as he ran off the same way Pitch did. The guardians quickly followed and lost him in the dark forest of Burgess.

"No," Tooth could barely manage to speak. They returned to get Jack who was sitting next to a tree barely able to keep himself sitting with such loss of energy.

"Sorry, I pressured you to do that," Bunny managed to say out of all the sad silence.

"Is… Sandy… okay?" Jack asked out of breath. The guardians looked sadly at one another.

"He flew off, Jack," Tooth said and wrapped herself with her feathery hands.

"What…. Are we going to do?" Jack asked with his head down, hopeless. The rest of the guardians had their heads down in defeat, except one.

"Cheer up you sad sacks, you two saw what I saw. We can get Sandy back," Bunnymund said with a smile on his face. The rest of the guardians echoed that hopeful smile.

The guardians gently carried Jack towards the sleigh, and the guardians got on to search for their friend that was lost in darkness. They flew up and Jack looked back. The houses in the small town grew smaller, and he tried to find Jamie's house.

"Do you think we will get Jamie back?" he asked. Tooth was saddened by his comment and put a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"Jack, we lose believers all the time when they grow up. Pitch scared him away from us. If we defeat Pitch maybe… I wouldn't count on that. Age does get to all our believers, you know," Tooth told him.

Jack looked back at the house barely noticeable.

"Jamie, was a good little light, but we protect the children of the world. Someday, that little light will become a man, a good one," North said, "and make more little lights to give us strength."

"He just… looked so destroyed… I want to see if he's okay…" Jack said sadly remembering the state Jamie was in, angrily punching the snow below him.

"Just wait until you get better," Tooth reminded him.

"That was an impressive attack, mate," Bunnymund said proudly.

Jack smiled, but then he had to look back at that town that was so far away it looked like it disappeared.

Jamie made his way home. He had his cold hands buried in his pockets and hurried home. The darkness scared him. He arrived at Pippa's house, but looked at the darkness of that house. It was too late they were probably asleep. He rushed to his house next door. His house was darker than before, and Jamie nervously walked inside. The cold was much too demanding to avoid the dark. He turned on the light and was ready to go upstairs. Though, how dark it looked made him stay in the living room and lay on the sofa. He turned the TV for some noise, and tried to sleep. He couldn't. Every time he closed his eyes he would see the corpses of everyone he knew. The closed hospital room his mother was in. He couldn't open that door.

He was shaken by Pippa's mother to wake up. It was really early in the morning.

"Here you are mister. You were supposed to pick up your things, and head over to my house. You know, I'm supposed to take care of you and your sister," she said in frustration.

"So what," Jamie responded angrily.

"Excuse me, mister. You are under my care so you listen to me!" she yelled at him. Jamie went upstairs where he had his things and brought them down. He stomped his way out of the abandoned house.

Sophie was excitedly waiting for her brother to come out of the house.

"Jamie! Jamie! Where you've been! Pippa's Mom made some s'mores!" Pippa yelled excitedly and spun around.

He didn't respond.

"Oh, do you know what happened to the guardians? Are they okay?" Sophie asked and walked besides her brother's angry steps.

"Sophie, our mom is sick and you are here dancing! Talking about your imaginary friends!" Jamie yelled at his sister. Sophie stopped and watched her brother walk past her, angrily. She suddenly felt afraid and alone. No one to comfort her. She slowly followed her brother.

Pitch looked at Burgess the darkness was swallowing that town. Sandman arrived behind him. He looked at his new fearling with disappointment for failing to grow.

"A juvenile does better than you making my darkness grow, pathetic," he said. He looked back and saw the gold take over his new fearling. "I guess not everything goes according to plan."

I appreciate the feedback. I was surprised I even have a little following, because this story hasn't been updated in awhile.

Anyway, I enjoyed putting parallels between Pitch and the guardians. I enjoyed parts of the movie that did that with Jack and Pitch, so it was fun writing that.

Anyway, I think I can do the every other week or every week update type schedule, so this is how the story will be updated.

Reviews are appreciated.
