The Saga: Successors

Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon. Bowmon, Ribbonmon, ShineStarmon are my creations long with my custom Ladydevimon and Lindy. I also own Kari Rose, Lisa Rose, Katrina Weithers, PJ Kennedy, and Cam Seleski. Please ask if you want to use my custom digimon.
Edit Authors Note: More tweaking conversations, and dialogue. I tended to say 'nodded' a lot so I had to hack that out. I changed Starmon to ShineStarmon-a more suitable way to continue Bowmon's evolution line.
Chapter 4: Activation 01: Crest of Honesty
Lindy set her stuff down in the classroom and looked around. Everything seems so much bigger than high school. Only more to get used to she mused lightly and waited for the teacher. Her first class of the day was a introduction to social science. It wasn't her favourite but it was mandatory to reasons that made no sense to her.
Someone poked Lindy's shoulder suddenly. The teen turned around slightly to see Lisa Rose asking if the seat beside her was taken.
"Oh no, go ahead." Lindy smiled as Lisa sat down beside her and asked how school was.
"My first class so I'm not sure yet." Lisa nodded and said this was her first class too. "What other classes do you have?"
Lisa's eyes darted upwards as she spoke. "I have intro to engineering, and calculus today."
Lindy nodded and told the brunette her classes, which were history of world religions, and introduction to political science.
"I'm thinking of becoming an engineer." Began Lisa, but stopped as the professor came into the room.
She was a tall, full figured woman, with long straight blonde hair that seemed washed out. She had a pale tinge to her cheeks and Linds assumed she was sick but something was so similar about her. The woman looked almost like her with her dull sea green eyes. She wore a simple dress blouse and black dress pants.
Clearing her throat, she grabbed the attention of Lindy who narrowed her eyes as she looked at her 'professor.'
"Good morning class, I'm professor Rose and welcome to social sciences. I assume you have the proper material, so let's begin. First, we should all introduce everyone to each other since there will be group projects and such. Why doesn't this row go first. Say your name and something about yourself."
Lindy was curious as to why two 'Roses' suddenly appeared in her life. Was this Kari Rose? The memory of her cousin popped into her mind. Kari was always hard working, loved to teach to children-but she never thought she would be teaching at a university! A thought of speaking to her after class popped up in her mind and she planned to do it.
The first row began and soon onwards to the second row where Lisa and Lindy was sitting. They hardly remember the names but some were interested in science, others were into sports, and a few were even artists and graphic designers. Finally Lisa was speaking.
"I'm Lisa Rose and I love baking."
Lindy smiled and said her name and favourite thing.
"I'm Lindy Ramen, and I have a passion for soccer."
Professor Rose suddenly stopped and looked at Lindy for what seemed like forever. Their eyes connected and Lindy gave an uneasy look. What if Kari still hated her and was going to spill her secret? However, deep down Kari couldn't be like that-she loved Lindy. Her father was killed by aunt Erika, she would have least motivation to be against her.
Professor Rose finally nodded and looked at the next row and finally it was all over. Lindy didn't even notice that class whizzed by and before she knew it the room was dismissed and her notebook was filled with four pages of notes...all in English.
Maybe this class is going to be alright, Lindy thought as she started to pack up and waited until everyone left. Lisa asked if she wanted to come with her but Lindy shook her head.
"I have to ask Professor Rose something."
Lisa understood and left. Lindy strolled over to Professor Rose's 'desk' it was more of a podium. Her notes were all over the place, and she was mumbling to herself about an appointment.
"Um, Professor Rose?"
The teacher looked up and smiled weakly at the teen. Her sea green eyes were clouded with memories. but Lindy was shaking from the possibly of who it could be. Could this be Kari Rose?
"Lindy it's good to see you. You haven't changed a bit. I hope you still remember me, right?"
The two suddenly exchanged hugs and laughed. Lindy felt herself brighten up instantly.
"Kari! Oh my God, it is you! Wow, I never thought you would be here teaching me."
"I never thought I would see you again!" Kari held onto Lindy tightly. "Oh Lindy I'm so, so sorry for doing that to you!" She had a sad look on her face and bit her lip.
Lindy understood and told her not to worry. It was a crazy night. The whole family was shocked that she found out she was half digimon.
"I'm just happy you're here. When did you come back?" Kari asked, digging through her purse. Lindy leaned against a table.
"Less than a week ago. I came here from Japan to study and get my political science degree."
Kari nodded and reached deep into her purse to produce a teal D-Ark. She also whistled and out came her digimon. It was a white cat with huge crystal blue eyes, green and orange paws with black claws on each. The tail had a funny ring with ancient markings on it. The digimon oddly stood up. Lindy's mouth hung open.
"This is Gatomon my partner. Gatomon this is Lindy, my cousin I told you about."
Gatomon purred and shook Lindy hand, who was used to meeting digimon by now.
"You smell like a digimon too…kinda. Nice to meet you are there other digimon around?"
Lindy faltered and gave a weak laugh. "A few, but their stuck in their Tamer's rooms. Kari, you're a Tamer?!" Lindy hugged her cousin. This was amazing!
"Yeah, I have been for a little while. I suppose it's a little strange someone my age, but we...I don't know-connect?"
Gatomon purred in response.
"I'm sorry about uncle Mark."
Kari's eyes widened in surprise and shook her hands madly.
"Oh, no don't be! I'm sorry you had to see him dead like that! It wasn't your fault at all Lindy. I never knew Erika would do such a thing."
Lindy noticed Kari looked sad talking about her father so she decided to change the subject.
"Yea, how is everyone else?"
"Well, Nana passed away two years ago and your parents are still living here."
This made Lindy give a confused look. "I thought Erika said they moved after your dad passed away."
"No, she was lying left, right and center. I swear if I ever see her again." Kari said sourly and bit her lip. Folding her arms, she gave a miserable face. "She ruined our lives Lindy. Threatened that if we ever left, she would kill us and after finding Gatomon, I couldn't live there anymore. I had to escape."
"When did you find Gatomon?" Lindy inquired looking at the clock. Snap! It was almost impossible to make it to her class now!
"You go to your class Lindy." Kari hugged her cousin dearly. "Why don't we talk tonight if you're not too busy. Where do you live?"
"Lapp apartments; room 201. Are you comfortable with me being…well you know..." A blush crept across Lindy's face. "...a hybrid?"
"Yes. I was really stupid to be like that Lindy. I'm so sorry. You better get going. I'll see you later." Kari waved while Lindy sprinted out of the door while trying to get to her next class.
I have to make it Lindy thought and bust into the doors when the clock read one thirty. Perfect timing! She hummed happily as she took a seat in the middle row and sat beside Katrina. This was World Religions-a bird course.
"What took you so long?" Katrina asked while fixing her 'bow'. Lindy grinned and whispered quickly,
"I'll tell you after class. You won't believe who I saw today."
"Who? Just tell me!"
"My cousin, Kari Rose."
"Get out." Katrina's hazel eyes widened.
"No, I'm not kidding. She's a Tamer too! Her digimon's name is Gatomon. I'm meeting her tonight so we can catch up."
The class began and once again Lindy proceeded to listen while copying notes down from her teacher. Questions on what to ask Kari popped in and out of her head. Finally, the class was finished. World Religions was going to be so easy!
Lindy returned to her apartment and sat on the bed with books in hand. Wow already homework on her first day of university! Calumon floated up to Lindy and asked how her day was.
Smiling like the sun, she explained about Kari and Gatomon coming which was fine by the small Digimon since he always loved the idea of having more friends. Lindy went over to her desk and started to get her homework out and cracked at it. Maybe by night-time, she would be finished.
It was around six o'clock when Katrina got back into her apartment and flopped down on the bed.
"Wow, talk about a long day. Eh, Bowmon?"
Bowmon popped off Katrina's hair and floated to the kitchen in hope of finding something to eat. Moment later Bowmon came back nibbling on the chips that Katrina bought. The raven haired teen picked herself up.
"I'm hungry too. What do we have?"
Peering into the cabinets, she found nothing. The reason exploded in her head and Katrina groaned. She forgot to go grocery shopping! Being an adult sucks!
"Well, now seems the good time to do that." Katrina muttered and looked at her homework. She had a few essays to have in by Wednesday and today was Monday. She would do it when she got back. Grabbing the purse, Katrina asked Bowmon if she wanted to come. The bow like digimon floated to Katrina's hair and stuck herself on.
As she closed the door, Katrina suddenly bumped into PJ who was holding bags of grocery in his arms. He nearly fell if it wasn't for Katrina holding on to him.
"Sorry PJ! Hey, you forgot to go shopping too?" she laughed. PJ looked a little nervous, but laughed along.
"Yea, Kunemon ate my last bag of chips so I had to get some real food to make. Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go grab some coffee tomorrow? Maybe chat or something." PJ hoped desperately she would say yes. After lots of prodding by Kunemon (who ironically told him to grow a pair), PJ was going to gather the courage to ask her out.
Katrina thought for a moment. Was he asking her out? She would love to...but the homework lingered in the back of her mind.
"Sorry, I got a lot of things to do. Maybe some other time?"
Katrina wanted to hug the ginger Tamer as he had his depressed expression on his face and nodded before going into his apartment.
"You don't have that many things to do." Bowmon whispered in Katrina's ear and she sighed.
"I know Bowmon, but it's harder than that. I think he actually likes me. I don't want to break his heart."
"You already are." Bowmon whispered back and that was all the two said. They travelled to the grocery store and started shopping. Katrina had to be careful with her money or else she wouldn't be able to eat much later on. The raven haired teen decided on getting a few on sale things such as chicken and instant mashed potatoes. Actually, most of the stuff was instant since Katrina didn't want to slave over a hot stove. She was starting to miss her older sister's cooking already.
Finally, as she started to pay she was covered by a pair of hands and a voice spoke loudly behind her.
"Guess who?"
Katrina would recognize that sexy voice anywhere.
"Cam."
Cam pouted as his hands got thrown off but Katrina only smirked. She had a thing for Cam ever since she was fourteen but it was off and on. Right now at the moment, it was defiantly on. She felt hot and her breath heavied as she said hello.
"You getting food too?" Cam asked. He didn't notice Katrina's sudden change of behaviour.
"Yea, how much do you think you spent?" Katrina might as well start a casual conversation as she started to place the object through the scanner.
"About fifty dollars." Cam complained that he would have to get a job soon if he wanted to eat and pay the rent. Katrina nodded. "Katrina, I saw this hot chick in my engineering class and she is hot! I mean hot, hot. Can you give me at least a few pointers? I want to make a good first impression."
A twitch appeared in Katrina's eyes. He rambled on about the brunette girl he saw today. He said her name was Lisa something but she was too entranced in paying the food.
"Just start with telling her how hot she is, you'll get her." Katrina started to leave quickly. Hearing Cam talk about some hot girl was the last thing she wanted to hear. "I'm going to go I'll see you later."
"You did it again." Bowmon whispered.
"I know Bowmon, but I really like him! Although I'm still scared that he won't even consider me. A little lie won't hurt."
Bowmon did something odd. She floated down and pulled out Katrina's crest of honesty. It was a diagonal 'S' with two leaves coming out of the inwards bends. The yellow crest she hadn't thought about in years, was now awakening a far away memory of her time at Floramon's castle.
"I know, I know the crest of honesty works for those who are honest," Katrina put her crest back into her shirt. "...and I'm still honest. I learned my lesson." Katrina said stubbornly and hopped on the bus that took her to the Lapp apartments. About a half hour later, the Tamer was home. She looked up at the apartments and saw something strange.
An odd white fog was produced on the roof and Katrina gasped as her bright yellow D-Ark was beeping loudly. A digimon was on that roof Katrina thought and her suspicious were correct when she heard a loud howl and a digimon stood on the top of the roof. It was too far to see who or what it was.
"Where is everyone?" Katrina thought but frowned as Bowmon started to float off. "Okay then, just you and me Bowmon!" Taking out a card from her jean pocket, she prepared herself for a battle.
DIGI-MODIFY
As Katrina swiped the card downward and she cried out,
"Digi-Modify! Digivoultion Activate!"
DIGIVOULTION
Bowmon felt herself become stronger as she started to digivolve into her champion form.
"Bowmon digivolve to…"
The rookie started to grow bigger with her ribbons splitting apart to reveal more ribbons. Three spikes emerged from her back, and arms appeared. The digimon opened her bright blue eyes.
"Ribbonmon!"
Ribbonmon picked up Katrina. Using one of her ribbons, they climbed up the building to the roof. The two entered the fog, unknown that the battle was going to be a very challenging one.
Calumon suddenly felt a digimon digivolve and was curious as to who it was. Looking over at Lindy, she was too deep into her homework.
"She won't notice." Calumon struggled to open a window and escape to where Katrina and Ribbonmon were about to battle. As he flew up he saw the mysterious digimon and let a 'whoa'.
There standing, was a humanoid wolf with several piercings on his wolf like ears and his amber eyes glowed malignantly. A brown, rough sash covered his muscle like chest which had dark black fur and dark blue markings on. The pants were jean like and had rips near the ankles and braces on each knee one being spiked. More of the brown leather was wrapped around his one free hand and around another which was covered in the green, jean like cloth. Upon the left leg near the thigh was a huge, white skull. The feet had three ivory color claws and a bandage wrapped around one of the huge feet. A scar was easily seen on the stomach of the Digimon.
"Shadow WereGarurumon. Virus, special attack: Full Moon Kick" Katrina read off her D-Ark in a holographic display and frowned. "Ultimate. Wait, is that stronger than champion?"
Although Lindy taught them the basic meaning of the cards and digimon, there were some confusions such as the levels a digimon was. In this instance, Katrina completely blanked on weither a ultimate was weaker or stronger than a champion.
Shadow WereGarurumon howled before kicking down Ribbonmon who was shocked by his sudden agility. Okay, Katrina thought. Ultimate digimon are stronger than champion. Good to know.
"Ribbonmon! You alright?"
Ribbonmon nodded and proceeded to attack with her best of ability.
"Ribbon Slash!"
The slash from the ribbons caused Shadow WereGarurumon to only growl a deep chuckle.
"Pathetic champion. I shall enjoy devouring your data! Shadow Claw!" The virus digimon pounded down the vaccine digimon as it crumpled into the Lapp apartment roof.
Someone is defiantly going to see or hear this for sure Katrina thought cringing at the pain Ribbonmon was feeling. The Tamer was feeling what Ribbonmon was feeling! Going through the cards she had she grinned at the one she found.
DIGI-MODIFY
"Digi-modify! WarGreymon's shield activate!"
A huge metal shield with a sun symbol on it appeared in front of Ribbonmon as Shadow WereGarurumon attacked and was stopped by the shield. This caused a huge noise that broke Lindy's concentration.
"What was that?" Linds muttered and called for Calumon. No answer and Lindy frowned. "Calumon? You there?"
Still no answer. Lindy explored her apartment. The hybrid heard her phone go off in alarm, signal to her night was coming. Lindy found the open window. Looking out, Lindy saw above her head was a Digital Barrier. The blonde looked at the sky in hope it was going to be night time soon. Sun was starting to set, so it was going to be close.
"I hope I make it." The blonde muttered and grabbed her keys and hid it underneath the rug. She started to make her way for the roof. Dashing down the hall, she opened the door at the end of the hall and climbed up the black metal ladder. Lindy opened the hatch slowly. Peaking out, she saw Katrina was shouting Ribbonmon words or encouragement and pointers.
"Yea, okay Ribbonmon-now float to the left-hang on, left! Hit him there! Ribbonmon, duck!"
"Katrina!" Lindy hollered and climbed out. "What's going on?"
"Digimon! Don't worry, Ribbonmon and I got this taken care of." Lindy frowned as Ribbonmon was sent back into the roof again. This did not look good at all.
"Katrina, have you seen Calumon?"
"No, why is he here?"
"Hey! Get away from Bowmon, you big bully!" cried Calumon trying to defend his friend but apparently Shadow WereGarurumon didn't notice and knocked the poor in-training digimon aside.
"Calumon!" hollered Lindy who rushed to the poor digimon and scooped him up. He had a bruise on his head and looked like he was going to cry.
"Ow…that hurt Lindy."
Lindy spun to Katrina,
"Where are the others?"
Katrina frowned and cringed as she started to hold one of her arms in pain from Ribbonmon's wounds. "I don't know! Marianna and Luke are out and Cam must be back at the Grocery store still!"
Lindy looked to the sky and the last rays of light hid underneath the horizon. It was night-time she thought as she started to glow and change. She started to charge while looking for that power to digivolve into Ladydevimon. A rush fulfilled her sending hot and cold shivers up her body.
HYBRID DIGIVOULTION
Lindy hybrid digivolve to…" she cried as her rookie form changed into a humanoid dark blue demon with huge horns, a mask covering half of her face expect her ruby eyes, long flowing blue hair, a thin tail, claws on her hands, and huge torn bat like wings. With her whip, she gripped it tightly ready to attack.
"Ladydevimon!" she announced and sent out her whip. "Whip of Kindness!" The power of fighting flowed through her veins as she sent out her attack. Suddenly, she saw it had no effect on the ultimate. She might as well been throwing string at the werewolf digimon.
"Nice try, champion." He growled and grabbed the whip with amazing strength. He pulled it into him, dragging Ladydevimon closer to him. The tug of war was useless, as he pulled her close enough to punch. Shadow WereGarurumon started to pummel her into the roof concrete.
"No! Ladydevimon!" Katrina gasped and tried to keep up her spirits by saying she was doing great but why was she lying? Ladydevimon was getting the shit beat out of her!
By the time Ribbonmon got back into the battle, Ladydevimon was back to Lindy who moaned while she was held up by her green bandana. Her dark blue fur was in patches, and she had one of her eyes squeezed shut.
"Badaboom!" she cried but only a small puff of fire came and went. It never even reached the ultimate as he threw her away.
"You're not even worth it!" he chuckled. With a sick smile, he waved her goodbye threw her off the roof. Lindy's screams died down after a few seconds of falling. He gave Ribbonmon another kick and smashed her back into the ground.
"LINDY!" Katrina screamed. "Ribbonmon!" she crawled to the tired champion and put a hand on her beloved Digimon. "I'm sorry. So sorry for lying about this. We may not make it Ribbonmon-we might not." Katrina's crest started to glow.
"But, I still want to try, and that's the truth." She whispered bringing her D-Arc close to her. The Tamer didn't even notice her crest of honesty glowing brightly.
"Katrina…I can digivolve." Ribbonmon whispered as she stood up and started to glow brighter than ever. Calumon groaned as a red light burst from the odd symbol from his forehead and hit the crest too.
CREST DIGIVOULTION
"Ribbonmon digivolve to…." The crest disappeared from Katrina's neck as it merged into the D-Ark making it rumble and glow an odd yellow green colour.
Ribbonmon started the change into a star like shape with the crest of honesty all over her spikes. Two hands and legs popped out and were gloved in a yellow green like cloth while the rest of her was green with tints of yellow. Yellow ribbon covered her body still, floating magically around her. Above her blue eyes, was a yellow gem stone.
"ShineStarmon!" she called out and Katrina looked in awe.
"Ribbonmon?
"I'm ShineStarmon now. The digimon of honesty." ShineStarmon replied sternly and faced Shadow WereGarurumon who had an eyebrow raised.
"How cute. You digivolved with the help of a human. Time to die though! FULL MOON KICK!" he howled and sent a kick towards ShineStarmon, but she dodged it easily.
"My Tamer and I will work together to bring justice here Shadow WereGarurumon! Spear.." she started to build up a yellow glowing spear in her hands. With a grunt, she sent it to the virus. "…OF TRUTH!" she finished.
Shadow WereGarurumon screamed and dissolved into data. The data disappeared along with the fog. ShineStarmon who gave a small smile in victory.
"Oh my God!" Katrina tackled her partner. ShineStarmon, that was amazing!" cheered Katrina hugging the ultimate digimon. Pulling out her D-Arc, she scanned her digimon. "ShineStarmon. Vaccine, ultimate, special attack: Spear of Truth." Suddenly ShineStarmon glowed and returned to a tired Bowmon. She comforted Bowmon, and let her rest in her black hair.
A sudden thought struck Katrina. What about Lindy? Was she alright? Sprinting over to the roof's edge, she saw no trace of her friend. Was she deleted or dead? Calumon went over to Katrina with his head down low.
"Aw, what happened to Lindy?"
"I don't know, but I'm going to go find out. C'mon Calumon!" Katrina said picking up the In-Training Digimon and having Bowmon attach to her hair. Instead of it being neat and straight, her hair was messy and covered in dirt and sweat from the battle. Katrina sprinted down and to her shock she ran in with a blonde woman holding a unconscious Lindy.
"Lindy!" Katrina gasped looking at her friend. The woman looked worriedly at Katrina.
"I'm her cousin Kari, can you help us?" the woman pleaded. "I just saw her coming from the sky and caught her in my arms like this." Tears started to spring from her eyes and Katrina finally remembered when Lindy was telling her of her cousin visiting her during their class.
"Oh, sure. You're the one with Gatomon?"
"Right here." Gatomon purred and appeared by Kari's side. "Lindy must have took a real beating."
"There was a bio-emerge up on the roof and we were fighting this Shadow WereGarurumon." Katrina explained walking down the hall on the second floor looking for Lindy room.
"Here it is!" Calumon floated over to the room 201 and pulled out a key from the hiding place. "See? I'm smart!"
The group went in and settled Lindy down on her bed. Calumon decided to be loyal and stick by her along with Gatomon and Bowmon.
"You guys are so sweet." Kari mused, smiling kindly. Looking at Lindy, she spoke. "She looks so...so-."
"Different?"
"Yeah...I forgot she looked like this. I feel so bad I abandoned her. If I could get another chance...I would have stuck by with her." Kari sighed. Katrina looked at Kari.
"She doesn't hate you. In fact, she was so excited you wanted to see her."
"I feel so bad for leaving her though." Kari looked down. "I should have done something but I was weak and had to follow what my family. I'm going to make it up to her." Kari looked at Lindy in hopes of her waking up.
"She is really amazing, Kari." Katrina told her to sit down and Katrina explained her adventures with her and Lindy how she turned into Hopemon and then Lindenmon and of the things she tackled-like D-Reaper, and Deciliousmon, and even the final showdown; facing Erika along with Beelzemon.
"You mean that little imp guy turns into this huge biker dude?" Kari said stunned. Katrina nodded.
"Yeah. He's a little rude, but he loves her." Katrina suddenly gasped as Lindy started to moan and open her eyes.
"I'm still alive?"
"Of course you are Lindy! You still have to play with me!" Calumon cried smiling and revealing his huge ears. Gatomon and Bowmon looked relieved.
"Besides, you have company." Gatomon said as Lindy sat up and turned to Kari.
"Well, I have to say you look cute." Kari smiled as she blushed.
"Wow, really? Thanks. Sorry for uh, passing out on you." Kari shook her head.
"No, it's okay. Katrina told me of all of your adventures. You really must be powerful to go to mega."
Lindy looked sad. She hadn't been mega in years. That power flowing through her as Lindenmon was incredible. She missed it dearly but despite Ai and Mako's attempts, she couldn't get the hang of it.
"I can't go mega anymore. Usually, I just change into Ladydevimon-it's my more comfortable form."
"Kari, I could totally go mega! Just let me fight all the digimon who get in your way." Gatomon threw a few fake punches and hopped on Kari's lap. She smiled.
"And I'm sure you will someday Gatomon, without fighting."
Katrina had to leave and bid farewell. She had to start her homework, take a shower, and make some food. Lindy understood and closed the door behind Katrina and Bowmon.
It was only Kari, Lindy, Calumon, and Gatomon now. Lindy offered to make some tea but Kari insisted to make it while her cousin rested. She set the kettle on.
"Well, how are my parents?" Lindy was desperately curious. If they were living back in Niagara Falls, then what were they doing?
Kari cringed. Should she tell her the truth?
"I'm going to be blunt with this and say it. They adopted a girl around your age after they came back. I forgot her name but they taught her to hate all digimon. The only good thing they did was not get involved with Erika's crazy ADA plan. I think they are still...confused about everything with you."
Tears slipped out of Lindy eyes and she clenched her gloved hands into balls. Why did they still hate her? She didn't mean to be like this. Kari held Lindy close in her arms.
"I didn't mean to become this." Lindy sniffed.
"It's not your fault at all. Forget about them-"
"It's hard to kinda forget your parents, Kari!" the dark blue digimon replied and rested her head on Kari's arm. "I mean they raised me! Tai and Yuki did too but-mom and dad? They were the ones that taught me to speak, to do almost everything. I still have all these memories!"
The next few minutes were silent as the two cousins hugged each other. Kari sighed and got up. She poured two cups of tea and settled them on the table gently. Kari knew it was time to change the subject.
"So, you have a boyfriend."
The statement caused a small blush to appear on Lindy's cheeks. "Kinda."
"Was it that Impmon we met at Christmas?"
"Yes." The hybrid admitted. "He's really sweet in his own way. And cute. He's human in the day time too with me."
"And he changes into a biker guy?" Kari wrapped her hands around her mug.
"Beelzemon, yea that's his mega form. He thinks he's cool and hot, but he's just plain adorable. You should see him when he plays guitar Kari, he's amazing at it! And he loves the twins. Our Tamers."
"Tamers?"
"Well, I'm partnered to Ai and Mako-those kids that were with us at Christmas."
"Woah. I didn't know that. What's it like? Being a digimon to them?"
Lindy had to think for a moment. The bond was there, just like it would be for Kari and Gatomon, but she felt more protective over the children. It was like an instinct. Without them, she wouldn't know how to live.
"It feels...right." Lindy smiled. A question popped into her head.
"By the way. How did you and Gatomon meet?"
Kari Rose sighed as she threw her homework down on the floor and grabbed some money from her 'secret stash'. Today, she was going to buy that skirt she saw at the mall. The mall itself was only a ten minute walk so she headed out of the house before her parents returned home from work.
It had been a few weeks since they returned from the Christmas party in Japan where Lindy was left behind. Since then, everyone was either sad or furious when Lindy was brought up. Erika would always get in a rage when her name was spoken.
"Lindy is gone now! All there's left is that monster!"
Along the way to the mall, Kari jumped when something whizzed past in front of her. It was snowy out and it was hard to see. The only thing Kari noticed was that it was like a cat. Worried about the animal's well being, she started to chase after it. The blonde saw it turn into an alley.
"Please, I'm not going to hurt you!" Kari cried out. The cat tripped over a crack and was sent down. Getting up slowly, the cat was breathing heavily. Peering closer, she found it looked different than any other cat. She picked up the cat and realized how soft and light it was. Bright blue eyes looked at her-unfocused.
"Hang on. I'll take care of you, okay? You don't seem to have an owner." She muttered searching for a tag but there was none. Only green and yellow striped paws with black claws were on it and a golden tail ring.
"Gatomon..." she breathed heavily. Kari jumped. This was a digimon!
"W-what?"
"I'm Gatomon..." the cat digimon nestled into Kari. "Please, keep me warm."
"After that we just became partners. It was hard hiding Gatomon from our family but when I turned eighteen I moved out immediately." Finished Kari as she was poured more tea from Lindy.
"Wow, that's really amazing. Gatomon, where did you come from?"
"I can't remember..." Gatomon pouted. "I remember running away from something-that's it."
"Don't worry Gatomon. We will recover your memory." Kari assured her partner giving a bright smile. The cousins shared a lot of qualities including a smile that could melt an Ogremon.
Lindy couldn't believe that her cousin was here now talking to her! In her dreams she would be screaming saying how disgusting she was but now…now it was like she had another sister!
"So, have you finished your homework?" Kari asked setting down her tea. Lindy gave a coy smile.
"Well, I would get done more if my best cousin in the whole wide world helped me out with my class."
"Sorry Lindy, strict rule about that. I'm afraid you have to work it like everyone else."
"Lindy are there anymore brownies?" Calumon poked his head out of the kitchen. Lindy shook her head.
"You already had like five candy bars!" Calumon pouted.
"I'm still hungry!"
"Well, I have a budget now Calumon! Tai and Yuki gave me enough to pay for rent, groceries and hardly anything else. You're kinda stuck." Lindy winced as Calumon pouted and left the room walking since his huge white and purple tipped ears shrunk.
"Hey Gatomon, why don't you go cheer up Calumon." Kari said turning to Gatomon who huffed but then sighed.
"Alright, fine. Hey, Calumon wait up!" the feline cat dropped off the table and made her way towards the little white digimon what was slumping and moaning about tarts and little things that his heart desired.
"Thanks Kari. I really don't want to see the little guy sad." Lindy explained sadly, looking down. Kari rubbed Lindy furry head and the hybrid rose an eyebrow.
"I'm not a dog."
"I didn't say you were." Kari smiled. She looked at Lindy's necklace. "Hey, I never saw you wear that cross before. Is it some kind of power up?" Kari questioned.
"After you guys left and the imposer Yamaki kidnapped us, I had to re-digivolve and when I did, I had this on my neck ever since. It turns really pretty in my mega form like all these diamonds." Kari nodded and looked at the cross.
"Is it the crest of hope?"
Linds nodded and explained that each Tamer from Canada had a crest such as passion, loyalty or honesty. Kari pulled out a necklace suddenly from her shirt.
"Is this a crest? I got it with my D-Arc." It was a teal crest with a backwards 'L' and there were two lines near the top and one below.
"Crest of confidence." explained Gatomon quietly as she jumped up the table and looked at it. "It's a power up for certain Tamers to reach their ultimate level." Gatomon held her head with her hands and muttered. "I can hardly remember much before I came here."
For the rest of the time, the two chatted happily over anything and everything. Kari told Lindy of her time in college, her ex boyfriend who tried to call her back, and little tips of Brock University. Lindy responded with her life with Ai and Mako, Impmon, and the Tamers back home. She even retold the story of the alternate reality she visit which caused Kari to gasp in shock.
"You've been though a lot..."
"I had a lot of therapy to get through it. I'm okay." Lindy waved it off but sometimes, she wondered if she was really alright. Nightmares of the past haunted her frequently and without Impmon comforting her, she was going to learn how to cope without him.
