Chapter Twenty Four: Yes Expense.
"I'm coming." Hermione grumbled dragging herself downstairs and opening the common room door.
"Finally, come on get dressed!" Pansy pushed her back up to her room.
"What?"
"Come on, my wedding is in a week and we have things to do." She sighed, "Oh my gosh! You have no robes!"
"No, I never thought to get any except school robes."
"Just put on something nice and stick your school robe on top, quickly!"
"Yes, alright." She huffed as Pansy walked out.
"What was that about?" Malfoy sat up and yawned while Hermione stifled a giggle at his bedhead.
"I'm guessing she needs me for wedding planning." She dressed-while Malfoy graciously looked the other way-before sorting through her purse, "I don't know when I'll get back so don't wait up." She smiled at him.
"Okay." He caught her arm and pulled her into the embrace of his arms.
"I better go." She sighed not really wanting to.
"Right." He drew back and shook off the hungry look he got whenever they were close-he was still being an idiotic ass about the whole Ritual thing.
"See you later!" Hermione called as she ran off to meet Pansy in the common room.
"Took you long enough." She shook her head and dragged Hermione out of the common and all the way to the entrance hall where Pansy's friends were waiting.
"There you are!" Daphne smiled.
"Sorry I'm late, miss here forgot." Pansy gestured to Hermione.
"Right." No one got their new found friendship because they didn't know about Hermione and Draco and the whole Veela bit and the way of the Veela family connections-in Veela terms Pansy would be counted as a sister.
"Sorry." Hermione said nervously glancing at Pansy's friends-Millicent Bulstrode, Tracey Davies and Daphne Greengrass.
"Let's go, Mother is expecting us." Pansy said ushering them out.
Hurriedly they made their way to a safe place to portkey and did so. Soon they were standing outside of Parkinson Manor.
"Pansy!" Mrs Parkinson walked out of the front door as the girls walked to it.
"Mother." Pansy kissed both the other woman's cheeks.
"Ah, Millicent…Tracey…Daphne." In turn each earned a kissed cheek then Mrs Parkinson turned to her, "Hermione Granger?" Of course she knew who it was-one third of the Golden Trio, the brains.
"Yes, Mother, I told you she was part of the Bridal Party the other day." Pansy sighed, "She's my Maid of Honour."
"What?" Hermione gasped.
"Ah, yes." She nodded, "Welcome to Parkinson Manor."
"It's lovely to be here, your house looks amazing." Hermione said politely still trying to get over her surprise as she watched a House Elf shut the door behind them all.
"Why, thank you dear."
"You're welcome."
They all went into one of the sitting rooms where they were measured up for dresses-well, dress robes then sat drinking tea when a House Elf apparated in.
"Mistress, Mrs Malfoy has arrived."
"Thank you let her in." Then the House Elf disappeared. Moments later Narcissa Malfoy walked through the door. Narcissa Malfoy had pale blonde hair and blue eyes, her pale skin practically glowed against her green and black robes. She held an air of confidence and authority but her eyes were kind as they settled on the group.
"Violet, Pansy, Millicent, Daphne and Tracey what a pleasure to see you all again." She smiled and hugged each girl as she said their name.
"Hello Narcissa." Mrs Parkinson nodded and kissed her cheek.
"Hermione Granger." Narcissa's eyes caught hers as she stood a bit back from everyone.
"She's my Maid of Honour." Pansy smiled and wrapped an arm around Hermione's shoulders, "This is Draco's Mother." She told her.
"Mrs Malfoy." Hermione held her hand out to the Malfoy Matriarch.
"It's a pleasure to meet you at last." She smiled and instead of shaking Hermione's hand she pulled her into a hug and kissed both her cheeks, "I've heard so much about you."
"Me too."
"All good I hope."
"Yes, of course." Hermione nodded remembering Malfoy saying about how his Father had passed away after a heart attack over finding out his Wife and Son were Veelas and he often spoke of her in a respectful manner-he seemed to hold his Mother in higher regard to his Father nowadays.
"So have you girls been sorted out?" She turned to face everyone else.
"Yep, just now actually." Pansy smiled.
"Then I look forward to your wedding on Saturday."
"It's going to be amazing, and Draco is going to do hold the Ceremony." It was tradition that a Veela conduct a Veela marriage Ceremony and Malfoy being closest to Blaise he was playing Minister.
"Wow, I hope he knows of the honour of doing that."
"He does." Pansy laughed. Tracey, Millicent and Daphne shared glances-not knowing of the Veela part to the story and so not getting it.
"He better." Narcissa smiled, "Now come and tell me more of this brilliant day to come."
"Of course." With that the girls sat on various couches and discussed the wedding down to the finest detail.
Later that night Hermione sat up in bed as Malfoy stripped down to his boxers before sliding into the bed with her.
"What're you thinking?" He smirked.
"How did you know I was thinking?"
"Your face is like an open book."
"Shut up."
"Come on, what is it?"
"Well…I thought when a Mate dies so does the Veela but your mum is still alive-of course that's a good thing though." Hermione quickly corrected herself.
"When Father died he didn't have any recollection of the Ritual as he was obliterated so it dimmed the Bond enough so Mother lived but…she isn't well. I know she misses him so much, she has to take potions to keep her from becoming…depressed and heartbroken. She's basically prolonging her life because otherwise she'd die…" He looked off to the side sorrowfully.
"I'm sorry." She chewed her lip before taking his face in her hands, "Look at me Malfoy." Slowly he complied.
"I don't miss him, but my Mother isn't coping, it's hard to see her suffering but she does well to cover up and she's getting better." Though by his face he didn't believe she was.
"I'm sure she's fine, Malfoys are never beaten."
"You beat me every day in class." He smirked.
"That's different." She smiled.
"How?"
"I'm supposed to become a Malfoy soon." She murmured before settling down in the bed and fending sleep.
"True." He curled his arms around her, "Goodnight Granger."
"Night Malfoy." She sighed.
