They pierced the edge of Fangorn and stopped, for Hasufel, Arod, Markth, Kalluth, and Vadam were nowhere to be found, Gandalf strode forward and let out a melodious whistle, suddenly over a nearby rise came their horses, led by a magnificent white stallion, looking more like a star fallen to earth than a mundane animal.

Sabine and Hera were struck by how beautiful the horse was, Ezra and Kanan by it's force signature, and Legolas said "That is one of the meras, unless my eyes are cheated by some spell". Gandalf went over to the magnificent animal and said while stroking its snow white coat "Shadowfax, he is the lord of all horses, and has been my friend through many dangers."

The next day they reached Edoras, whose name Gandalf repeated upon coming into its view and then saying "And the Golden Hall of Meduseld. There dwells Theoden, King of Rohan, whose mind is overthrown. Saruman's hold over King Theoden is now very strong, be careful what you say, do not look for welcome here."

They rode toward the city, passing through the gates after Aragorn had picked up a flag that had fluttered to the ground. As they passed through the streets toward the Golden Hall they were faced with a grim black-clad people, watching their every move "You'd find more cheer in a graveyard" says Gimli, Sabine saying "What's with you people and lack-of-color?"

They all dismounted, Chopper drawing some stares, and they ascended the steps towards the doors, once at the top a richly clad soldier flanked by two other guards greeted them with somber, if not sour, looks.

"We cannot let you before Theoden King so heavily armed, Gandalf Greyhame…by order of Grima Wormtongue." Spitting out the last word. Gandalf was about to comply, but Kanan walked forward and waved his hand saying "We don't need to disarm" with the guard repeating his words, much to the astonishment of the others, except Gandalf who merely smiled.

"We can go about our business" the guard again repeating, then finally "Move along" as the guard mechanically shooed them into the hall. As the doors closed behind them Aragorn whispered to Kanan "What was that?" and Kanan whispered back "Jedi mind trick"

Gandalf led them forward into the gloomy hall, everyone noticing the strange looks given by some, and the downright hostile ones from several dark haired thuggish characters lurking in the shadows. Gandalf began "The courtesy of your hall is lessened of late, Theoden king!" a dark greasy looking man whispered something to the wizened grey haired man on the throne and the man said almost as if in a daze "Why should I welcome you, Gandalf stormcrow?"

The greasy man stood up saying "A just question my liege, late is the hour in which this conjurer chooses to appear, lath-spell I name him, ill news is an ill guest" Gandalf sharply retorts "Be silent! Keep your forked tongue behind your teeth! I have not passed through fire and death to bandy creed words with a witless worm." Brandishing his staff, the greasy man looks around, noticing everyone is still armed and yells "I told you to disarm them!"

The thuggish types run over trying to attack Gandalf, Kanan force pushes two into a wall, Hera knee's one where it hurts, and the rest of the fellowship kicks some serious butt, then Gimli pins the greasy man to the floor and says "I would stay still if I were you!"

Gandalf commands "Harken to me! I release you from the spell" then the wizened old king begins a cruel laugh and says "You have no power here, Gandalf the grey!" then Gandalf sheds his grey cloak and pins the king to the throne with his light, the force swirling in pure radiance that makes Kanan and Ezra's eyes go wide.

Aragorn catches a young woman who runs toward Gandalf and says "Wait". The king suddenly says in a different voice "If I go, Theoden dies!" Gandalf replying "You did not kill me, you will not kill him" "Rohan is mine!" "Be gone" then with a shout the king lurches for Gandalf and Gandalf touches his staff to the kings head while shouting.

Gandalf takes a deep breath while the king groans, Aragorn releases the woman who runs over to the king and caches him, the king suddenly seems to de-age looking fifty years younger, Sabine mumbles to Hera "Wish I could do that at their age" Hera chuckles.

The king calls the woman Eowyen, then says "Gandalf?" "Breath the free air my friend", the king rises and says "Dark have been my dreams of late" and Gandalf says "You fingers would remember their old strength better, if they grasped your sword"

The king slowly removes his sword from the offered sheath and stares at the blade before turning a furious expression on the greasy man, who is thrown out of the hall, literally.

Aragorn rushes to stop the king from killing the man, and stooping to his level. The king then asks for his son and is told that he has passed, and the funeral is about to begin. The fellowship, save Gandalf, don't want to interject in these peoples time of mourning so merely hang back.

Hera, Kanan, Ezra, and Gandalf are with Theoden long after the mourners have departed, Gandalf speaks to Theoden while Ezra turns away from the grief and see's two children, near death on a packhorse coming over a nearby rise.

"Kanan!" he and Hera turn to see what has Ezra shouting and all three rush to aid these poor children, hopefully they can be saved.
