Chapter Twenty Eight: Wedding knots.
When Hermione woke up she realised she and Malfoy were twinned together like every morning. Scared she slipped out of his arms, shoved on her dressing gown and slippers-prayed no one was around-and hurried out the room.
"Whoa Granger!" Blaise said as she collided with him in the common room-too focussed in escaping than looking where she was going.
"Blaise!" She squeaked and jumped back, "I was just going."
"See y-." He froze mid shrug and stared at her neck.
"Crap." She hissed grabbing her scarf from the chair and wrapping it around her neck, "Do me a favour Blaise and keep Malfoy here, don't let him find me!" She told him as she walked backwards to the door.
"You're running away!"
"Shut up!" She cried, "You'll wake him. I just…don't want to deal with this. Not now. Have a good time getting ready, see you later!" She yanked the door open and ran for it.
"Granger!" Pansy smiled as she opened the door for her.
"Hi Pansy." She panted as she walked in.
"Why'd you run?" She asked.
"I need to talk to you." She whispered eying the other girls getting ready in common room.
"Sure." She pulled her up to her and Blaise room, "What's up?"
"This!" She wailed and unravelled the scarf.
"Frick me!" Pansy grinned, "Good for you girl, I thought you'd never do it."
"Pansy!"
"This is what you wanted right?"
"Yes, but…I'm scared Pansy!"
"Oh honey." She threw her arms around the distraught Gryffindor, "It's okay, believe me, it's okay." She soothed her.
"I'm sorry, this is your big day and I'm ruining it with my tears!" Hermione coughed out.
"This is what I'm here for, no matter what."
"I just…I want this but I'm scared at what people will think!"
"I know, but trust me, it's fine."
"I left him, I just blanked him afterwards and this morning I ran, I'm a crap Mate!"
"No you are not! You did what you needed to. I did the same."
"But-"
"Now we're going to get ready and forget about this until a later date, when you discuss this with Draco."
"But-"
"No, you will talk to him. End of. Come on, smile, it's my big day." She practically glowed.
"Okay…wait what about my gown!"
"Luckily I had them made to have a high neckline so you wouldn't look odd in case you had to cover your bite, just in case."
"Thank you."
"My pleasure, now come on!"
"Coming." And they went down to the others.
Each of them washed, dressed, had their hair done and makeup so that at five o'clock they were ready.
Pansy wore a sweetheart strapless top with diamonds decorating it and a full skirt. She had a white lily bouquet and manicured nails with a diamond decorating her wedding finger and wore silver, strappy, platform heels. Her hair was down in waves with a tiara and a thin veil, like a cloth over her, while her make-up was natural.
While the Bridesmaids wore deep blue, high necked dresses that ended above the knee with matching platform heels. Each Bridesmaid had their hair in a messy bun and a white lily pin in. Their make-up was natural and their nails manicured. Hermione's only difference with being Maid of Honour is that her dress was long with a slit on one thigh.
"Honey." Mrs Parkinson cried slightly with joy as Pansy stood looking at them.
"Don't let your make-up run already!" Pansy sighed and handed her Mother a tissue.
"Okay, your Father is here, I'll see you soon."
"Bye Mother." She hugged her and whispered, "I love you." In which her Mother repeated the statement before leaving.
"Are we ready?" Mr Parkinson asked walking in.
"Yes Father." Pansy looped her arm through her Father's and the walked to the entrance to what was duped the 'Wedding Room' as all the marriages happened in there at Hogwarts. The wedding march started and the doors opened. Slowly the Bridesmaids entered as everyone stood and watched in awe.
Then Hermione walked out from the side of the door and smiled. Conscious of Malfoy watching her at the alter she kept her eyes on the stain glass window at the front behind the alter and walked. She felt her body betray her by being excited as she drew nearer to Malfoy. Her heart beat raced and her pulse bounced but she forced herself to remain happy and smiled but cool, not giving anything away. Then as custom she stood next to the preacher-in this case Malfoy-and turned to watch Pansy walk down the aisle.
Pansy gave off the air of confidence, radiated beauty but if you looked in her eyes with expertise ones-like Hermione's had become-there was the usual Veela look, weaker for a Mate, but still hungry for lust. Then she reached the alter. Hermione took her bouquet and smiled as the couple connected hands and a wave of love blew over them.
Then Malfoy spoke.
"We are here today to witness this Veela marriage." He started and many looked shocked at it being Veela, "Firstly, Pansy are you here of your own freewill?"
"With the threat of death yes." She giggled.
"Are you Blaise?"
"Technically my genes say yes." He smiled.
"Okay then." He chuckled quietly, "Does anyone object to this?" He waited for ten seconds, "Good otherwise you'd be dead. Now on with this show…Do you Pansy Parkinson take…this thing to be your husband and Veela?" He gestured to Blaise.
"I think about it…I do." A red winding mark wrapped around Blaise's hand and wrist like an Unbreakable Vow.
"And do you Blaise Zabini take…that to be your wife and Mate?"
"I do." And the same mark branded Pansy.
"Now the vows. As tradition at this Ceremony they have written their own, Pansy please."
"Now Blaise I always had a tiny crush on you since we met, but it wasn't until Sixth Year that I really liked you. When we got together it was dramatic and downright unromantic but I love you all the same for that. Though you've made up for it since." She winked discreetly, "And today I can say to everyone I'm the luckiest lady alive." Malfoy chuckled at the 'lady' comment, "For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish so long as we both shall live and beyond. I love you Blaise."
"And Blaise."
"I'm not a man of many words but I have a far few for you. I know I was unromantic in our start but really I didn't think and I have been making up for it since. For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish, so long as we both shall live and beyond. I love you Pansy. And can I say, can we hurry this up because we all know what's going to happen after this and I want to skip to the best part."
"Right. Rings?" Malfoy turned to Hermione but she ignored him and took the rings out of her white, silk bag with red ribbon wrapped around. Handing them to Blaise and Pansy she smiled at each of them, "Now say together-"
"I, Pansy Parkinson/Blaise Zabini give you, Blaise Zabini/Pansy Parkinson, this ring as a sign of my eternal love and commitment to you." They said with no prompt.
"Okay now Blaise you may kiss you Bride but please remember there are others here."
"Then don't look." Blaise smiled, tugged Pansy close and crushed her lips with his own. It was almost too explicit for public viewing but hardly anyone noticed as the red mark glowed so bright, almost blinding, and covered the couple.
"I give you Mr and Mrs Zabini." Malfoy announced as they finally came up for air and the glow dimmed.
