The allotted nine months have passed, and the baby was born. It was a healthy 7.6 pound girl, and her name was Josie. They had decorated an empty room in the house, just for her. It was pale pink and everything was fluffy and girly and frilly. They received many gifts from everyone in the office and their parents. She was beautiful, her hair was black, her eyes green and her skin held a rosy pink. The bad news was, she had to be away from the office until her maternal leave was up. It seemed like it would take forever just to get back to what she loved the most: bringing justice to her hometown. A maternal leave could be from eight to ten months. That would be plenty of time to get Josie ready for school. They would then sign her up for day camp, and even night camp, for some nights when both of them needed to work late. That would really put some stress on her. What if there were bad kids that would make an impact on her? That was a bridge to cross when they get there. Thankfully, Joseph would make all of the necessary money to keep them stable for the while. He made enough to sustain two mortgages, so that would be plenty to buy the necessary items to raise Josie.
Sadie held her baby girl in her arms and stroked her hair. She couldn't believe the miracle that was in her arms was her own. She was beautiful, and she would grow up to be even more beautiful. She continued to think about how successful her daughter would be, but she also thought about how much fast her own money would go down. She probably won't be able to leave her daughter anything, and then they'll be scraping for quarters when it comes time for college. She thought that if she couldn't be a good parent, she would have to put Josie up for adoption. She honestly didn't want to do that, but the option exists. She would have to put that into consideration when the time might come. Joseph walked into the nursery and saw her and Josie. Sadie had been up and about for more than three days, but she still had to take it easy. She was depressed for a day or two, but after a while, everything sorted out, and she was back to feeling her normal self. The doctor stopped giving her pain medication. She had healed up nicely and she was ready for work. They said that she had to stay at home for one more day before she return to the office.
"Hey," she started with a smile on her face, "do you want to hold her?" She asked him. He came towards the bed and took his baby girl from her arms. He held his sleeping child and kissed her forehead.
"She's beautiful." He said, looking into her big, beady and green eyes. The little girl in his arms laughed and outstretched her hands toward his face. She laughed at him holding his little girl.
The next morning, Sadie was back up and in the office. She wasn't going to be working that day, but she wanted to introduce Josie to all of her friends at the office. They all loved her to death, and wanted to pick her up, hold her, kiss her and everything else. She passed out invitations to her wedding for her and Joseph. And she made her friend Lauren her Maid of Honor. All that was left was to bail her sister out of prison and wait for her parents to fly in from Norway. She would have to pay for their tickets, their cab, their hotel.. It seemed like she would spend more on her parents in a single week than her own child over five years. She still loved them more than anything in the world. She really didn't want them stating in the house, because of Joseph's little sexual flare ups. Every room in their house had some story to it. She really didn't want the constant nagging and shouting across the room. She learned to get over that when her sister moved out of the house. Joseph's parents would be flying down from Canada, and they would be there in less than five days. That would be plenty of time to get everything set up for the wedding, which was now less than two weeks away. It was still scary, everything involving marriage and family to judge her and Joseph's decisions. She hardly knew Joseph's family, and he hardly knew her's. It would be a real adventure to meet them. Her sister just got bailed out, on her compliment, and she would be attending. She didn't even know how she got in prison in the first place. That was a question to ask at a different time. She was going to have to pay for a separate room for her too. She didn't know how much that added up to, but she would do the math later. She needed to get her dress, the tux, figure out what her Bridesmaids would be wearing, all of that good nonsense.
Sadie had ran out of the house to run some quick errands and then soon after returned home. She had an unnaturally large smile, and a bounce in her step.
"How did your errands go," Joseph asked, in a joking manner. Sadie sighed happily and sat down on the couch. Joseph soon joined her there and pulled her close to his chest. She seemed to smile even more after being so close to the love of her life. She sighed and relaxed more into him/
"They went really well." The simplest answer was the best. She didn't want to get to much into detail about it, it wasn't worth talking about.
