CHAPTER SIX: GHOSTLY LOVER
Koga paced the floor in his hidden chamber, a habit he did when he was thinking deeply about something. The truth was that he was experience a feeling he hadn't felt in a very long time, even when he was alive he rarely felt this. It was guilt, he couldn't get over the feelings of guilt for what he had been doing. It all started the other night, he had invaded Inuyasha's dreams once again to play around with him, but this time was different. Instead of some of the usual foreplay, the white haired beauty just wanted to talk with him.
It was so strange, he had never had a lover who just wanted to talk, most of them just wanted sex with him or in some cases a piece of the vast fortune he had. Inuyasha did most of the talking he just listened, until the man of his interest asked him something he wasn't sure how to answer.
"I know this is just a dream, but do you think the real Koga would treat me like this?" Inuyasha asked what he thought was a figment of his imagination.
"I don't know", Koga honestly didn't know, he had yet to tell Inuyasha that he wanted him.
"Figures, I doubt he would be like this in the real world, I have to go to sleep to be loved like this", he said sadly. The despair in his voice struck Koga's invisible heart like a knife. It made him realize that using Inuyasha like this was wrong. He then sensed that the man was about to awaken so he left, before an accidental possession was forced. The following day Koga completely avoided Inuyasha and didn't try to invade his dreamt the next night.
"Come on Koga, you may not be alive, but you're still a man, grow a pair and tell him how you feel", he told himself looking at the ghostly reflection of himself in the mirror. Normally he wouldn't be this anxious about talking to someone, he always projected an aura of confidence, but all the other partners he had meant nothing to him. Inuyasha was special, he actually meant something to him, he was someone that matched wits with him, actually stood up to him after the decades of people living in fear of him. He was also painfully beautiful, if they had met over a hundred years ago back when he walked amongst the living he would have made the white haired beauty his one and only.
"Dammit! If I could just find where they hid my body!" he shouted grabbing his book 'The World of Spirits' and throwing it across the room furiously.
"That's it I have to tell him", Koga had to do it now while he had the nerve at the moment. He flew up to the ceiling his black frayed cape flowing behind him as he fazed through the stone to go find the object of his desire.
OTHERSIDE OF THE MANOR
Inuyasha was currently in the study, he stood on the latter so he could put back some of the books he was using for one of his newer writing projects. He was thinking about how strange Koga was acting, he hadn't seen the spirit's face around since the other day. Part of him was suspicious and wondered if Koga was up to something, but another part of him was concerned and wondered if something was bothering his ghostly friend. While he was lost in thought his foot slipped and he fell backwards off the latter. Inuyasha closed his eyes expecting a painful impact, but suddenly felt himself weightlessly floating off the ground.
"What would you do without me angle face?" Koga said carrying the other bridal style.
"Well I probably wouldn't be looking over my shoulder every ten minutes", Inuyasha said rolling his eyes while Koga slowly levitated down and set him back on his feet.
"Hey there's something I've been meaning to ask you?" Koga looked away rubbing the back of his head.
"What is it?" Inuyasha waited patiently for him to speak, but the ghost remained silent for a few minutes. "Alright", he turned to walk away, but was stopped by a hand on his bicep. "Look if you're not going to say anything…", Koga interrupted him by covering his mouth with a surprise kiss. To say Inuyasha was shocked was an understatement, he didn't know what to do. He tried to pull away and ask what was happening, but Koga was having none of that. He wrapped his other arm around the white haired beauty's waist and slowly levitated them both until Inuyasha was pressed against the wall while Koga continued to kiss him senseless. Eventually they separated because Koga didn't need air, but luckily remembered that Inuyasha did.
"What…what was…that?" Inuyasha asked trying to catch his breath, he had never been kissed like that in his whole life.
"Sorry I couldn't resist anymore", Koga said playing with a lock of the other's white hair.
"Anymore?" how long had he been wanting to do this?
"Well yeah, you strut around looking all sexy. How could I resist?" he grinned.
"I don't strut", Inuyasha glared at him.
"And there's that fury I find so hot", Koga chuckled placing his hands against the wall on both sides of Inuyasha's head making him blush when he realized that he was trapped.
"I don't understand", Inuyasha said trying to wrap his mind around this situation.
"What's there to understand? I really like you and I want to express how much I like you", Koga stated casually.
"What happened to haunting me?"
"Well let's just replace haunting with fucking"
"How about you take me on date first Romeo", Inuyasha said with a smirk pushing the ghost away. Koga's grin grew even wider when he realized that Inuyasha was open to this idea.
"I can't leave the grounds, but I can still show you a good time if you'll let me", Koga asked with as much charm as he could muster.
"What did you have in mind?" Inuyasha sat down on one of the couches while Koga followed plopping down in the chair across from him.
"Meet me behind the mansion at sun down and I'll show you", and with that Koga stood up and fazed through the floor flashing Inuyasha a wink before he left.
"What's that freaky specter up to?" Inuyasha smiled and sat back at the desk to continue working wondering what Koga had planned for them tonight. "Wait a second, I've got a date with Koga!" the realization suddenly hit him hard and made him blush like crazy.
LATER THAT EVENING
Inuyasha walked down the stone steps that led into the small forest that was sectioned off and made into the grounds. He avoided this area mainly because it was practically a jungle back here with over grown plants and trees, also there was a large old cemetery. He decided to dress in a clean black t-shirt and jeans with his hair tied in a loose tail. At the bottom of the steps stood Koga in his normal attire of a white frilled shirt left slightly open at the top, his black pants, boots and his large black frayed and torn high collared cape that always seemed to move in a nonexistent wind.
"Ah, right on time my lovely Inuyasha", he said sweetly taking Inuyasha's hand and kissing his knuckles.
"So what did you want to show me?" Inuyasha said trying not to blush too much.
"Come", Koga walked over to one of the grave stones, the one that had a statue of a horse's head on top. "Alright wake up Kuro", he whistled and suddenly the dirt split open and out crawled the fully moving skeleton of a horse. Inuyasha watched in both shock and fascination as the horse shook the dirt off its bones and walked over to them. "Go wake up your brother Shiro and get the carriage", Koga ordered and off the skeleton went.
"Whoa", Inuyasha was speechless.
"I know, impressive isn't it, I can still recall my favorite horses from the dead when I need to", he watched as two skeletal horses appeared pulling an old carriage. Koga jumped in and popped the top off leaving it open to the night air. He also lit a lantern so they could see before politely extending his hand out to help Inuyasha in. The white haired man sat down in the old seats trying to make himself comfortable, Koga snapped his fingers and the horses started moving taking them down the trail that led through the cemetery.
Inuyasha looked around letting the cool night air brush against his face, trying to absorb this surreal experience. Here he was sitting in a carriage being pulled by two reanimated horse skeletons, on a date with a ghost, and in a cemetery. No one would believe this in a million years, no matter who he tried to tell.
"Comfortable?" Koga asked wrapping his arm around the other's shoulders.
"As comfortable as I can be in a graveyard", he replied sarcastically.
"Oh please, they're not all going to come back to life", Koga snickered at him. Eventually the carriage stopped at a large old fountain. It looked like hardly touched by the passage of time, the statues were intricately beautiful and the water looked sparkling clean.
"I didn't know this was back here", Inuyasha said getting out of the carriage to look at the fountain.
"Well it was quite the mess, I had to clean it up a bit before we came", Koga followed after him.
"You actually did manual labor?" Inuyasha looked at him skeptically.
"Hey I know how to work", he defended.
"Yeah right, you just used your ghost powers", Inuyasha chuckled, he was sure Koga would be blushing in embarrassment if he had a blood stream. "Thanks this was really sweet of you", he said sitting down on the edge of the fountain, and Koga sat next to him while they enjoyed the lovely night sky. They spent the rest of the evening just talking about nothing in particular. Koga finally asked him about his job and Inuyasha told him he was a famous author and artist. In return he asked Koga about what he did when he was alive and the ghost told him he was into a lot of different trading businesses like food and resources.
"Do you miss being alive?" Inuyasha asked resting his head on the other's shoulder.
"Yeah I miss some things, like being able to travel past the grounds, but it doesn't beat the amazing powers and eternal presence I have now", he replied with just a hint of arrogance.
"Really is this so much better?"
"Come, let me show you something", Koga walked down a small stone path that led to a very large impressive grave stone with two life-size wolf statues on the sides. The name monolith read 'Here Lies Koga Okami'.
"This is me, this is my grave, nothing down there but maggot food", he said pointing at the earth where his corpse was most likely six feet under. "Trust me when I say what I am now is better", Koga walked away, but stopped and turned to see Inuyasha still standing over his grave looking down at it sadly. He then did something rather odd, Inuyasha walked over to the bushes where some random flowers were blooming and plucked a few. He then placed the flowers respectfully at the base of the grave stone and clapped his hands together in short prayer. Koga's eyes widened in shock, no one had ever paid respects to his grave before.
"Let's go back home", Inuyasha said walking away.
"You mean my home", Koga followed after him.
"How about our home?" Inuyasha asked feeling a ghostly hand grasp his own.
"Sure, our home", Later that night Inuyasha went to bed, before he fell asleep he could sense the presence of his companion laying behind him. He wasn't sure what he was doing until he felt an arm snake around his waist while he laid there and the cold breathe on the back of his neck.
I'm so sorry with the long wait and the short chapter, I'm just trying to get back into the swing of these smaller stories after I just finished my big one. Plus I kind of skipped a filler chapter I was going to do and jumped straight to getting a relationship established.
And yes I decided that Koga is going to have a rival for Inuyasha with a little twist added, but he won't appear for a few more chapters. As for who it will be, I'll let you all guess.
The skeleton horses that Koga summons for their date was something cute I came up with at the last minute, a little Tim Burton influenced. Yes the grounds of Okami Manor are very large, Koga can't ever leave either its part of the curse that will be explained later down the road.
More romance and weird comedy to come.
Thank you for reading.
