A/N So this is ling overdue yeah, but I have good reasons!

1. I had dance team tryouts and those were majorly stressing me out.

2. I have a dance recital this weekend so that's been equally stressful.

3. In July I'm moving so I've been trying to spend as much time with my friends as possible (Abnegation Ravenclaw: 'sup. Btw, you might recognize a part of this chapter because I already told you about it XD)

4. I'm prepping to go into High School and I want to go to medical school so I'm trying to bring up my grades (I'm talking to you Algebra)

And that's it. So in answer to a few people who have messaged me, I have not forgotten this story, I've either been dealing with one of those excuses ^ or have been working on another story of mine. That's all dear Chicken Cutlets. Enjoy!

*Katniss POV*

I go to nearly every tutoring session much to my disapproval. Personally, I don't see a raise in any grades but Peeta keeps saying, 'It'll take time. Trust me.' but it's been almost two months and nothing. But I did ace the second science test, not that I'm proud of it or anything. Last month I was discharged from my crutches after the successful surgery so that has also improved my general grumpiness.

Though one thing that isn't helping is I have absolutely no money. I had to drop all of the money I had saved for Washington D.C to buy a new-old truck so I haven't been able to buy anything to soothe my overgrowing craving. The stress from all the tutoring sessions isn't really helping either. So after school ends I hop into my cherry red pick up and drive to the nearest gas stations which happens to be a Stripes. (I don't know if y'all know what those are, but they're awesome gas stations with really awesome milkshakes.)

Putting my truck into park I jump out onto my healed leg and walk into the station. A couple employes wave and ask if I need any help but I decline. To try and get the attention off of myself I muck around for a little bit casually looking through the snack isle a couple times. Once I'm sure no one is paying attention, I go to the part of the store selling electronic and normal cigarettes. After spotting the brand I like, I discreetly grab them and stick them into my jacket pocket. Breaking into a speed walk I rush to the door to escape any notice.

To my luck a loud alarm blares making dozens of eyes turn to me. Not wasting a moment I run from the store away from the alarm and the impending police. A pair of arms loop around my waist stopping my sprint.

"Let go of me!" I shout uselessly. The man's hold is incredibly so I know I won't get out easily. Instead I kick my foot back, connecting to his crotch. He let's go, dropping me in the process. I turn around for a split second and dreadfully realize that I just kicked a cop in the nuts. Keep running. Keep running. I regret wearing sandals immediately. Only after thirty-seconds of sprinting, two cops catch up to me and grab the tops of both of my arms. "Get off of me!"

The man and woman have an impossibly strong grip on me so running once again is futile. I'm dragged into one of the two cars that have appeared and am thrown into the back seat. Some people from the store videotape or take pictures. It's only when I'm being transported that I recognize the female police. Shit.

"Miss Everdeen, I thought that Mellark would be helping you." Lavinia says disapprovingly.

"Why do you care?" I reply, turning to look out the window. Since she's not the one driving, her head whips around immediately.

"Why wouldn't I care?" she exclaims. "Katniss I was a lot like you growing up. I thought that the world owed me a living."

"Was your Father killed in a freak accident forcing your Mom into a spiraling depression and marrying a malevolent son of a bitch? Do you dream of your Dad being blown up in a mine while you-" I begin.

"Shut up, Everdeen!" the male cop shouts, making me jump. "You are only an eighteen year old, naive little teenager. You know absolutely nothing about the real world." the man's dark eyes stare into mine through the rearview mirror. "Now shut up, and this'll be a whole lot less bad for you." honestly too embarrassed to say anything back, I return to looking out the window.

We soon arrive to the same police station that Gale was being held in and I'm filled with an odd sense of security. At least I know where I am. Lavinia unlocks the car door and leads me into the stations with her hand on the cuffs locked around my wrists.

"Would you like to make any phone calls?" Lavina asks before I'm brought to my holding cell.

"No." I reply curtly.

"Okay, your choice." Lavina unlocks the handcuffs and shows me into an empty cell. "So I'll contact your parents and they'll either choose to bail you out or will wait and have you released in a week. Not to mention the fees and fines."

"They're not gonna bail me out." I tell her while picking at my chipping nail polish. Lavina shakes her head and leaves me alone. A few people walk down the hallways, probably going to visit friends or loved ones. No one in particular catches my eye until I see Bannock Mellark and...oh shit. And m day keeps getting better and better.

"Katniss?" Peeta asks, clearly surprised.

"Yeah?" I try to act nonchalant but probably fail.

"I just saw you two hours ago. What happened?" he sits in front of the cell, only a couple feet away from me.

"Nothing," I say to him.

"Obviously it's not nothing. You're in a freaking jail cell!"

"Yeah I can see that." I gesture to the walls around me.

"What'd you do?" he rests his chin on his head which are propped up on his knees.

"I only tried to steal from a gas station. It's no big deal." I lean back on my arms and flick my braid to the side.

"You tried to steal from a gas station?!" Peeta roars. For an odd reason, I actually feel a bit of remorse with the way Peeta said it. If it were Snow yelling at me for it, he would just use the opportunity to tell me everything else I'm doing wrong in life.

"Okay, okay I'm sorry." I put my hands up in defense. "I mean, at least I didn't try to kill anybody. So in perspective what I did wasn't that bad."

"What'd you try to take anyway?"

"Just a pack of cigarettes." I can't look into his ocean blue eyes as I admit. He sighs dejectedly and shakes his head.

"But you didn't kill anybody?" you'd think by his tone, he sounds like a disappointed parent but his words make me actually laugh.

"Nope. No casualties," I smirk.

"Good. I wouldn't what to be friends with a murderer."

"Friends? You're my tutor." I shift to rest my head on my knee.

"Katniss, we've been friends since preschool. We're basically a cheesy Lifetime movie." a grin reveals his straight white teeth, causing me to roll my eyes. A couple minutes later, Lavinia appears again with a cordless telephone in hand. She slips it through the bars without a word. I press the phone to my ear.

"Hello?" I ask tentatively.

"Katniss Magnolia Snow, you are so lucky that your Father just left for the week." the sound of my Mothers voice calms me instantly.

"Yeah, yeah thanks Mom."

"I'm leaving the house right now so I'll be there in about twenty minutes." she doesn't wait for any more remarks from me, only hangs up. I hand it back to Lavinia and she smiles and crosses her arms.

"I think your parents love you more than you think, Everdeen." she says.

"Whatever." I grumble.

"They are really nice Katniss." Peeta says to me. "Remember that one time after-"

"Okay I get it." I cut him off. Peeta gets the cue and shuts up. I'll cross that road when I get to it.
