THE BOY WITH THE PIERCING BLUE EYES

Epilogue

After the students finished with the exams, they waited for the headmaster's year-end speech and the announcement of who won the house cup. For the first time in years, the Ravenclaw was the winner, so the whole table waited anxiously to celebrate. The headmaster, after standing up from his seat, greeted the professors and guests who also appeared interested in his words.

Sirius leaned on the table as he discussed something with Remus since they were quite far from each other. The quietly talking Tonks and Rowena sat between them as well as the similarly battered looking Snape who sometimes grimed at Black's attempts to smile; the bruises and scratches on his face just started to heal. Severus could already remove the bandage from his forehead but small, barely visible scratches were decorating his skin too. He held Rowena's hand under the table who squeezed his fingers when Dumbledore started talking, effectively stopping the three men's private conversation.

The headmaster's voice was filled with worry this year too. As everyone expected, his first words were about what happened in Hogsmeade, warning them about the threat the dark wizards meant. He bowed to the students who proved to be braver than some adults while going against the attackers. He told everyone that in the long years he had worked as a teacher he had never been prouder and this just proved that their cause wasn't lost yet and it will eventually stop all the abuse and destruction. Therefore, he stressed, it would be unfair to proclaim one house as the winner because they were all champions.

"To our champions," he raised his glass and an ovation broke out in the Great Hall.

Breaking the decades-long curse on the job, the professor announced that Rowena Dareling will be teaching the Defense Against the Dark Arts class next year too. Professor Lupin will also continue teaching the art of fencing.

The innocence of Sirius Black was announced publicly in newspapers and flyers alike by the Ministry so that Black won't get attacked on the street. The community took the news with relief though Sirius encountered people looking at him with fear while walking outside of Hogwarts. He had been busy with his promise to Remus after making peace. While his friend thought Sirius was only daydreaming when he talked about a 'big hose where they could all live together' Black was very serious about the idea. Using the fortune of the Black family, he bought a huge Muggle house in Kensington, London – leaving Grimmauld place in the hands of the Order – where he invited his godson and friends. Talking with Remus, they agreed to make Severus an honorary Marauder so that with Harry taking James' place the quartet would be whole again. The man didn't like the offer first, and didn't want to agree to living together in the Kensington house but the others persuaded him. They also had to listen to Harry's sarcastic comments about how adults settle their differences or what Snape really meant when he talked about 'childish vehemence'.

The boy said farewell to his foster parents and Dudley though a few years prior he would have been able to leave without a word. Now, he didn't fail to hug his aunt who appeared frightened but didn't push him away when she noticed his godfather, Black watching them. Harry quickly gathered his Muggle clothes, books and others things and handed over Dumbledore's letter before leaving. They said he appeared more mature in many ways when he left the house where he suffered for fifteen years but he knew that a new place with happiness and laughter awaited him. To Sirius' happiness he seemed to resemble James more. They even found him wearing glasses more and more often…
