CRASHING THE HONEYMOON

Oswin and John, having traveled from Skaro via Oswin's emergency temporal shift, suddenly appeared just outside of a magnificent hotel that had so many floors that it's upper levels were actually obscured by the clouds. Oswin whistled in appreciation at the beautiful sight before her even as it reminded her of a memory of the Doctor sitting on top of his cloud that was literally from another lifetime.

"Well, Mr. Harkness, you definitely have good taste when it comes to picking hotels. I've never seen such a beautiful place in my life, and I haven't even looked at the planet yet. I still can't tear my eyes away from this building. If it's this beautiful on the inside, I may never leave," Oswin joked.

John smiled smugly as he said, "I knew that you'd love it, Mrs. Harkness. My Dad took my Mum here on their honeymoon, and she went crazy over it too. I guess you could say that we're continuing an old family tradition by coming here. Welcome to the Hotel Ravenwood on the even more beautiful planet of Obsidian V. This is where you'll find the most sophisticated clientele in the universe. Only the richest of the rich and the top strata of society come here and now there's us too."

"I love how you put that even if it is accurate," Oswin said with a small smile that was marred by the disturbed look on her face.

"What is it?" John asked her with concern.

"It's called Ravenwood. Ravenwood is my mother's maiden name," Oswin said.

"It's just a coincidence, Clara. My parents came here before I was even born, and I'm pretty sure that they didn't pick this place because of anything to do with you or your mother," John reassured her.

Oswin nodded as she said, "It's just weird is all. First that dream about my mother and now this. It's almost like someone's trying to tell me something, but I'm just too thick to understand it."

"You probably are," John joked which caused Oswin to glare at him.

"You keep talking like that, kidding or not, and you're going to find yourself alone on your honeymoon," Oswin said with a wicked smile.

"I'll definitely be quiet then because I've waited for this long enough as it is," John said as he looked at her with pure love in his eyes.

"I think you may be disappointed. I'm sure that whatever you've built up in your head is much better than reality," Oswin said.

"I highly doubt that," John said sincerely.

Oswin smiled at him and gave him a tender kiss in appreciation for that sentiment. Suddenly she cut the kiss short and yanked herself free from him with a yelp of surprise.

"Hey! Do I kiss that bad?" John asked in a confused voice.

"Shut up for a minute and look behind you," Oswin commanded.

As he did so, he gasped as he saw a girl in her early twenties who looked remarkably like Oswin but not enough to be identical to her so it definitely wasn't one of Clara's echoes. That wasn't the only thing that had made him gasp though. What had really provoked that response in him was the fact that this girl was walking into the hotel with an older Davros, and they were both wearing wedding rings!

"John, it can't be! Can it? Could that really be our future daughter here on her honeymoon . . . with him?!" Oswin said in a horrified voice.

"I'll kill him!" John said as he erupted into anger.

As he started to race off to find Davros and their possible daughter, Oswin immediately grabbed his arm and restrained him.

"Wait a minute! Just hold on a minute and listen to me. There are three very good reasons that you can't just go charging in there and beat the future Davros to a pulp, John. Number one is that we're not supposed to know too much about our own future, and we definitely shouldn't interact with it unless we're really sure about what we're doing. Number two is that she may not be our daughter. She could be Clara's for all we know or she may just be some look-a-like who's totally unrelated to us. Number three is that it may not be what it looks like even if it is her," Oswin said in a calm voice.

"What if it is what it looks like and that really is her married to him?" John said in a disgusted voice.

"Then I'll go back to Skaro and kill the present day Davros myself! There's no way that I'm letting that happen!" Oswin said.

"Now there's my girl," John said proudly.

"Maybe we should just let it go though for the sake of the timeline. Do we just forget about it or try to poke our noses into things in order to find out for sure?" Oswin asked hesitantly.

They both looked at each other with a huge grin on their faces and raced into the hotel hand in hand without another word being said. They arrived in the hotel lobby just in time to see Davros and the girl who might be their daughter heading towards the elevators.

Oswin increased her speed as she raced to catch up to them before they got to the elevators and started running so fast that John immediatley had to let go or he would have had his arm jerked from its socket. He watched her outpace him in complete disbelief as she caught up to the couple first.

How in the world did she do that? He wondered. It must be a result of what was left of her Guardian powers he finally decided.

Oswin grabbed the girl's arm just before she got on the elevator and said, "Either I'm about to make a very huge mistake or I'm about to stop you from making one."

The girl turned around and groaned as she said, "Oh, no! Mum, not now!"

Oswin froze in surprise for a moment, and then she started to smile as she finally knew now for sure that someday she was going to be a mother. Then she quickly snapped out of it as she reminded herself of what she had come here to do.

"Come on! You're coming with me and we're going to have this marriage annulled right now," Oswin said.

"Mum, stop it! Why are you acting like you don't know what's going on for? I already told you all about this," The girl, whose name that Oswin still didn't know, said in an aggravated voice.

"And I agreed to it?" Oswin asked in disbelief.

"You agreed to this? Why?" John asked as he finally caught up to her.

"How should I know? Maybe I go completely crazy in the future," Oswin said as she shrugged her shoulders.

"The future? Oh, no. You're on your honeymoon. Oh, I knew that there was a reason that I didn't want to do this here, but I couldn't remember why. Me and my stupid memory!" Oswin and John's daughter said in frustration.

"You shouldn't be here. No one should know too much about their own future," Davros said as he finally spoke.

"We shouldn't be here? What about you two? You two being together is just wrong on so many levels," John said.

"It's not how it looks, Dad," The girl said.

"Don't say anymore," Davros warned.

"She won't have to. They're about to find out exactly why the two of you are here. You were bait to lure me here weren't you?" A woman dressed all in black and wearing a metal mask that covered all of her face except her eyes said as she appeared behind them.

"I don't know what you mean," Oswin's daughter said in an innocent voice.

"Of course you do, Clara Harkness. Yes, I know who you are. This is all a trap for me. Someone as pretty as you are would never marry the likes of Davros for real," The woman in black said.

Clara Harkness rolled her eyes as she now realized thanks to the lady in black that her parents now knew her name before she was even born. She really hoped that she wasn't about to be erased over that little slip up.

"I'll have you know that Jacqueline Tyler was interested in me once. Seriously interested," Davros said in a wounded voice.

"Yes, and then she got some sense into her thick skull and finally dumped you. She always was a bit out there though even for a Tyler," The woman in black said.

"You're not really married?" Oswin asked her daughter.

"Duh!" Clara said as she groaned.

"She's a bit slow on the uptake, isn't she?" The woman in black said.

"Hey! That's my mum," Clara said defensively.

"She's still pretty dim in my opinion. It's nice to know that she hasn't changed that much over the years. This is the past version of her isn't it? Even with the inability to age, I can still tell the difference between them because this one's eyes are so much younger. So if I killed her right now, then you'd never be born, right?" The woman in black asked as she pulled a large gun out of one of her pockets and pointed it straight at Oswin.

"You still have to hit me first and that's much harder than you think," Oswin said even as she tried to process the comment that she had just heard about her not aging in the future.

What was that about? Was she somehow more like Clara Oswald, who also didn't age, in ways that even she didn't realize?

"My attacks are much harder to avoid than you think and don't think that your force field will protect you either. My gun can shoot through it because I know its exact frequency," The woman in black said.

Oswin now looked at her in shock as she said, "No one knows that. I've never told anyone. Not even Epsilon."

"That won't always be true and now that's coming back to haunt you. Don't worry though. I actually have no interest in killing you, Clara. At least not directly anyway. I came here for an entirely different reason. The gun is just to ensure that you and your family don't interfere in that," The woman in black said.

Then before anyone could make a move to stop her, the strange woman used her other hand to put a small device on Davros' arm. Davros was immediately teleported away as Clara groaned in despair.

"No! I was supposed to stop her from taking him. I had it all planned out to pretend to be married and take Davros to a room in the hotel. We were going to wait there for her to come in order to ambush her. You just had to come here and interfere though, didn't you?" Clara said to Oswin in anger.

"I didn't know. I am from the past you know," Oswin protested.

"That's no excuse. You should never bother someone on their honeymoon not even a fake honeymoon," Clara said.

The mystery woman laughed at them as she said, "I just love you two so much. You truly never do change. You're always arguing no matter what versions of you meet each other."

"We fight a lot?" Oswin asked Clara in a disappointed voice.

"It's not as bad as she makes it sound. Sure, we butt heads a lot, but we're really very close," Clara said with a smile.

"Good," Oswin said as she smiled back at her in relief.

"How touching. Now that the family melodrama is all played out I believe that I'll leave. I have plans for Davros after all. Huge plans," The woman said.

"Who are you anyway?" Oswin asked in an annoyed voice.

"I am the Matriarch and this isn't the last time that you're going to see me. You're going to be seeing quite a lot of me in the near future once I get what I want from Davros," The Matriarch said.

"Not if I can help it," Clara said.

"It's too late now, Clara Harkness. You failed. Admit it and move on. You were always destined to fall to my superior intellect anyway even if your parents hadn't barged in and bungled the whole thing," The Matriarch said.

"Oi!" Oswin said.

"Go ahead and brag. You're still going to lose in the end. You're never going to take over Skaro no matter what you do," Clara said.

"We'll see. Actually I'll see and you won't even know that anything's different as the entire timeline is rewritten around you. Don't worry though. I'm pretty sure that I won't kill you. You and your family are far too much fun to dispose of. See you later. Ta-ta!" The Matriarch said as she teleported away.

"Why do I feel like I just walked into the middle of a movie here?" Oswin asked.

"That's because we kind of have. If it helps, I have no idea what's going on either," John said.

"It doesn't," Oswin said.

Clara smiled at them and said, "Sorry, but I can't tell you anything. She already told you way too much about the future as it is. I can only hope that we can stop her from getting what she wants in our time or she's going to be coming back here to pay you a visit very soon now. She won't be alone either. I have to go and tell the future you about this. Although I guess you already know now, huh? Maybe you did when you sent me and just had to do this anyway in order to maintain the timeline. Who knows?"

Just before Clara started to activate the Vortex Manipulator on her wrist and leave, Oswin stopped her. Then she suddenly gave her a massive hug which surprised Clara at first until she realized that this was because it was the first time that she had ever seen her.

"Sorry, I just had to do that. It's so nice to meet you," Oswin said with happy tears in her eyes.

Clara smiled as she said, "Maybe I can see if I can drop by and see you again, Mum. In fact, if the Matriarch gets her way in the future then I might have to. See you later."

Then she finally went back to her own time and Oswin's shoulders slumped.

"I wanted her to stay longer," Oswin said.

"I know but she couldn't. She might let too much slip about the future. Besides that I think that she's needed back home to fight that woman whoever she is. I really hope that she doesn't get whatever she wants or I have a feeling we're going to be in a ton of trouble soon. There's nothing that we can do about it now though so we might as well go on our honeymoon as scheduled. I mean we do owe it to the future after all. We have to make sure that Clara is born don't we?" John said with a seductive grin on his face.

Oswin shook her head as she said, "You really are a piece of work. Even after all of that, that's all that you can think about."

"I'm Jack Harkness' son. What part of that don't you get?" John said with a pleased look on his face.

"Fine. Let's go get this over with then," Oswin said.

"Thanks, Clara. You really know how to make a guy feel special don't you?" John said with a frown.

"Sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I just want to get back to Skaro so that I can try to find out who that woman was and what she wanted. I need the Daleks' help with that," Oswin said.

"Don't worry about it. I'm sure that we'll find out in time," John said.

"Yes, but I hope that it's not already too late by that point," Oswin said.

"Well, I can already see that this honeymoon is going to be a barrel of laughs," John said.

"Sorry, sweetie. I just can't stop thinking about what just happened," Oswin said.

"Tell you what. You tell Epsilon and Angela about it and let them try to find out more about it while we enjoy ourselves," John said.

Oswin smiled as she tapped a button on one of her gauntlets and said, "I just thought of that. See? We're already thinking alike, Mr. Oswald."

"Really? Can you tell what I'm thinking right now, Mrs. Harkness?" John asked with a smirk.

"I think pretty much everybody can tell what you're thinking right now. Just hold on a minute, and we'll get right to it, okay?" Oswin said as she held a finger up.

"I'm continuing to feel really special right now, Clara," John said with a sigh.

Suddenly John felt a tugging on his pants leg and looked down to see a little red-headed girl there. She was looking up at him with a scared look on her face which immediately made him forget all about the honeymoon.

"What is it, sweetheart? Are you lost?" John asked with concern.

"Yes, but that's because I want to be. Some really bad men are out to get me. You can't let them. Please help me," The little girl said.

"Who are they? Did they kidnap you?" Oswin asked after she finished her call.

"Yes, they did but I got away from them. Can you help me? I don't want them to get me again. Please!" The little girl pleaded.

"Of course we'll help. We'll let you stay in our room with us until you find your parents. Do you know their names and their address?" John asked.

"No, I don't remember. They took me from them a long time ago," The little girl admitted.

Oswin looked at her in shock as she said, "Do you even know your own name then?"

The little girl hesitated as she said, "All I know is my first name. It's . . . Harmony."

Oswin noticed the way that she hesitated but decided not to mention it as she said, "Alright, Harmony. You're going to stay with us until we find your parents, okay? Do you remember what the men who kidnapped you looked like?"

"No, I don't. I just remember that they wore suits and they were scary," Harmony said.

"Fine. Maybe we'll find out more about you later. Until then, you can consider yourself a part of the family," Oswin said.

"Thank you!" Harmony said as she embraced Oswin.

Oswin smiled and was already thinking about Clara again. She briefly wondered what she was going to be like when she was Harmony's age.

"Sorry, John. I guess we'll have to put the honeymoon off just a little bit longer," Oswin said.

"That's okay, Clara. I can wait. You were already worried about the Matriarch anyway. You don't think that Harmony was kidnapped by her or someone working for her do you?" John asked.

They both looked at Harmony who said, "I never heard them mention that name. I don't think that it was her."

"Maybe it wasn't but I'm certainly not ruling it out since you came to us right after she left," Oswin said.

"Can we go to your room now? I don't like being out here where they can find me," Harmony said in a worried voice.

"Sure, honey. Let's go, John," Oswin said as the three of them stepped into the elevator together.

While this was going on, in the far future the Matriarch had Davros tied up and was slowly interrogating him (to use a nice way of phrasing it) to get a certain piece of information out of him. So far he was unwilling to break and was still holding onto the hope that someone would come to rescue him before it was too late.

"You're too stubborn for your own good, Davros. You'll break though. Sooner or later, you will tell me what I need to know. You will tell me the secrets to the creation of the Daleks, and then I will create a new group of Daleks that I will use to go back in time and seize Skaro from Oswin. I will completely rewrite history so that the Daleks never become the pathetic peace-loving mockeries of their former selves that they are in the current timeline. Soon the Daleks will be reborn just as they should be!" The Matriarch said.

Next: More on the Matriarch and her plans. Will she get what she needs to know from future Davros? What will happen next if she does? Plus Oswin goes back to Skaro and checks in with Epsilon and Angela to see what if anything that they can find out on Harmony and the Matriarch. Plus for the first time in a while Oswin will check in at Rose's school in order to enroll Harmony there. Will her old friends appreciate the trouble that she brings there with her though?

Maybe someday Oswin and John will actually have that honeymoon too!
