Chapter 8 Grimm and Faunus Wars

(Akira POV)

"Come on everyone wake up, the sun is just rising!" I shouted out loud for only everyone in the dorm room to hear.

"What is that for?" Raven asked.

"We still haven't unpacked," I said, "come on, I'll go get breakfast, I already finished unpacking my things, just don't move them, I will know by scent."

When I came back, everything seemed…okay, I mean they seemed to have unpacked everything, except for Shawn though; he still had at least three more suitcases of belongings to unpack. Other than that, the beds have been rearranged.

"Seems like you guys settled in easily," I said, looking around, "Now then, you should eat now; we have classes in a half hour."

(Shawn POV)

Our first class was a class about the Grimm. Professor Peter was interesting, other than him telling past stories. But the entire team was taking notes based off of the diagrams that were hung up. And then we were watching Weiss Schnee, fight a Boarbatusk. Well it was interesting to watch.

Days passed and we were in a combat training class, Jaune was fighting Cardin and honestly I just wanted to fall asleep if it weren't for Akira poking me every other minute with the jeweled end of one of her swords. She was really excited about the Vytal Festival, I would know because she and Yoko had signed up the entire team to compete in the competition.

At lunch we were sitting with Teams RWBY and JNPR as Nora was talking about this "reoccurring dream" as Ren called it. Soon having it disrupted by Cardin, who was at another table messing with a Rabbit Faunus because of her rabbit ears.

"Oh you've got to be kidding me," Akira muttered under her breath, "of all the things he does, he does that now."

Just as Jaune was leaving, Akira was already arguing with Cardin.

"Look Akira, it wasn't much really," Cardin said.

"Wasn't much?! Animal ears are more sensitive than human ears, especially for us Faunus, how would you like it if you had rabbit ears and someone was just pulling them to see if they were real?" Akira said, "what silence is your answer, just be glad I'm not out to destroy you."

"Whoa easy wolfie," Cardin said.

"Don't call me wolfie!" Akira said unsheathing one of her swords at one instant, her eyes had a changed to a golden-yellow color. It was too fast for anyone to see, but I did see it, "Understand?"

"Yeah, I got it," Cardin said, "man she's like the White Fang."

"What did you say?" Akira asked.

"You're like the White Fang," Cardin said enunciating every syllable as if she was a child.

"Well then, that is either a compliment or an insult, if you knew who I was, what my life was," Akira said, "Just hope I don't cross paths with you outside of school, you'll regret it."

When Cardin left, it was when the Rabbit Faunus came up to her.

"Thank you," she said, "I'm Velvet, Velvet Scarletina."

"Akira Fang," Akira said, "I guess I'll see you around."

Akira left the cafeteria to her next class, which the entire team was separated. The entire team had morning classes together but afternoon classes separate except for the last class which we had together.

(Akira POV)

I had history with Professor Oobleck who was extremely fast I was beginning to assume he could possibly be hiding the fact he was a Cheetah Faunus. He could be hiding the cheetah's signature face stripes, or a tail, ears possibly, but it could be easily have been told by his speed, that or he drinks too much coffee. So the two options Professor Oobleck could be, either he's a Cheetah Faunus or he is extremely caffeinated by now. Other than that, we were learning about the Faunus Wars…joy…if Grandfather hadn't told me of his experiences during the war. Oobleck asked if any Faunus were discriminated by their heritage, I just wavered my hand a bit, because half the time I am, the other half I'm not.

Afterwards, Professor Oobleck was asking about the advantage the Faunus had, soon asking Jaune for some odd reason.

"The advantage…the Faunus had…were binoculars?" Jaune asked.

The conversation was continued on in how the human general had failed…honestly, anything in history related to the Faunus, I've already heard, so I was partially tuning myself out.

After dinner we were in the Team ASPR dorm room but honestly I couldn't sleep.

"If you guys want to know where I'm going, I'll be outside for some fresh air," I said heading outside.

(Yoko POV)

I kinda snuck out when the others were asleep, I was curious about Akira still. I found her at the roof staring contently at the moon.

"So…now what?" I asked.

"Oh Yoko, it's just you," Akira said, "Yeah, the moon was kinda calling me, you know being a Wolf Faunus."

"So, are you going to howl at the moon?" I asked.

"Depends, how many are awake to hear me and mistake it to be a Beowolf?" I asked.

"Probably not many," I said, "come on; I've wanted to hear a Wolf Faunus howl at the moon. Please? Just this once?"

"Fine," Akira said, looking at the moon, she closed her eyes, and howled at it, tilting her head up as an actual wolf would. She did this at least four times before opening her eyes again and looking at me, "Well? How was it? Your first ever Wolf Faunus howl?"

"It …it was beautiful. Almost like an actual wolf's howl, but yours actually had a melody," I said.

"Thanks," she said, I could almost see blush forming on her cheeks, "I haven't howled in a while though, but I'm glad I did tonight."

"Really, when was the last time?" I asked.

I could see tears slipping down her cheeks now, her wolf ears slightly falling into a somewhat submissive position before she said, "the last time I was with my parents, when I was just a puppy."
