Chapter 9 Akira's Back Story
(Akira POV)
"When you were a puppy? What do you mean? Is it like when you were more…childish?" Yoko asked.
"No when I said when I was a puppy, I literally mean when I was a kid, at least when I was four," I said, "but then again, no one would want to hear my story. Not even a Faunus."
"Maybe I'm different," Yoko said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I want to know what you've been through," Yoko said, "even if you're Team ASPR's leader, even the teammates have to worry about their leader right?"
"I guess you make a point," I said, "just promise me one thing."
"What is it?" Yoko asked.
"That you won't repeat this to anyone else, even to Shawn and Raven," I said, "I don't need everyone to know yet."
"Okay, I understand," Yoko said, "I promise."
"My name is Akira Fang," I said, "but my full name is Akira Blanche Fang and I was once an elite member of the White Fang."
"The White Fang, as in THE White Fang?" Yoko asked.
"Yes, THE White Fang, the original, before they became violent," I said, "my Grandfather use to be the leader of the White Fang, he knew what it was like, fighting in the Faunus Wars, he was a captain of the Fang Division, in that division, he met my Grandmother, Blanche Sorapaw. My grandparents and the others in both the Fang Division and Claw Division both were tired of the war, so the two divisions formed a secret alliance. One night, in the Faunus Camps, Grandmother gave birth to my Uncle, but a year later, she gave birth to my mother, right when General Lagune and his troops invaded the Camps. But that was the last night Grandmother lived. Both the Fang Division and Claw Division were tired of this, constant worries for their young ones, so together, they formed the White Fang, after my Grandmother's death. It was a secret at first; they were worried about 'defying orders' but it was their only chance to survival."
"I'm still not getting the whole picture here," Yoko said.
"Because you interrupted me," I said, "Maybe here was a good place to stop."
"No! Not yet!" Yoko said, "The story wasn't completed yet."
"Fine," I said, "In the last Human/Faunus War, Grandfather was already a general and raising my mother and uncle, both around adults. My mother met my father while tending to his wounds; he told her how her gentle touch had already healed his heart. By the time the War was over the White Fang finally came into focus as a symbol of peace, my parents were already married and expecting me. Then years later, I was just a toddler playing with a few of the older members of the White Fang, and I met someone who's at Beacon, we were fast friends, although it was mostly because I would sit beside her and read over her shoulder on whatever book she had though. When I was ten years old…that was the worst part of my life, Grandfather told me he was going to step down as leader, no matter what anyone would say, no one could convince him to stay as leader for as long as he could."
"So then what happened to you?" Yoko asked.
"The night before Grandfather stepped down as leader and before my uncle became the new leader, I ran away," I said, I could almost feel Yoko cringe when I said 'ran away', but it didn't matter now, "I lived the next two years alone on the cold streets, missing the only home I ever had, at least until I met Tai and Masumi. Masumi was human, but Tai was a Tiger Faunus, they took me in, and raised me while I was in a combat school. Those two have their own daughter, Tiger Faunus like her father, named Felina; I treated her like a sister. Four years ago, I found out my grandfather passed away due to old age and my father was murdered. I didn't know the fate of my mother until I came here, when I saw my friend from the White Fang, my mother was drowned in a river, I just couldn't stand it that my entire family is gone."
"What about your uncle?" Yoko asked.
"My uncle was never family to me," I said, "He was cruel, deceitful, manipulative, and treated me like I was nothing. He was almost like a fox himself. Not a Fox Faunus, an actual fox."
"That's kinda harsh," Yoko said cringing again.
"He's my uncle, and busy with the White Fang, when is he ever going to hear about this?" I asked.
"You'll never know, but he is family you are running away from," Yoko said, "and I know what it's like to run away from family as much as you do."
"What do you mean?" I asked, wolf ears perking up for once, I hadn't realized how my wolf ears were lowered in a submissive position; most of the time, they were in a dominant position proving the leadership I had for Team ASPR.
"This scar," Yoko said pointing to the one on his face, "is the evidence I'm hiding my past like you."
