Chapter 11 Raven's Weekend Surprise

(Raven POV)

I was sleeping comfortably in my bed until someone was poking me; I felt a finger, not a paw.

"WHAT THE HECK SHAWN?!" I asked when I saw who it was, he in return fell down onto the floor and feet over his head, tail feathers splayed seeing how we turned the beds into bunk beds because of the lack of space, and I was technically sleeping on a top bunk.

"What are we suppose to do this morning?" Shawn asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked trying to go back to sleep, "Why not ask Akira or something?"

"I can't," Shawn said.

"Why not?" I asked before he showed me a piece of paper.

Members of Team ASPR,

Although this seems odd, you get the weekend off from training unless otherwise. Be sure to complete your assignments too! I cannot have a failing team. And try not to wake me up! Otherwise enjoy your day for once.

-Akira.

"So what do we do?" Shawn asked again.

"It seems like whatever we want," I said, "but I think it doesn't include running away, Akira can track you easily by scent, she is a Wolf Faunus after all."

"So what do you expect me to do then?" Shawn asked.

"I don't know, study, read, homework? I don't know," I said.

"So what are you going to do?" Shawn asked.

"For now, just get some breakfast, and please don't follow me," I said leaving the dorm room.

I went to the cafeteria to get breakfast like I usually did. Getting the usual blueberry waffles with honey and whatever fruit they had that I liked. But honestly, I never liked eating in the cafeteria alone without the other members of Team ASPR; the second best place was on one of the roofs. Just then, I just had to bump into someone else, dropping my tray in the process.

"Can't you watch where you're going?" he asked, it sounded like someone from Team CRDL but kinder…just a tiny hint, almost unnoticeable.

Looking up, it was a member from Team CRDL, Sky Lark…I think. I was scared still though for any member of Team CRDL could bully a Faunus. So I grabbed one of the peaches I had and ran towards the open window, spreading my wings to fly onto the roof. When I did, I began peeling the peach and eating it, wishing for the rest of my breakfast.

"Seems a little lonely to be here for breakfast, but the view sure is lovely," someone said scaring me, Sky Lark…again.

"Whatever you want from me… just forget about it, just don't hurt me," I said.

"Hurt you? Why would I want to do that?" Sky asked.

"You're a part of Team CRDL, Team CRDL is easily known for bullying others, including Jaune, and especially other Faunus," I said.

"If I don't then Cardin would question my why I wasn't," Sky said.

"So you aren't purposely doing it then?" I asked.

"No, I'm just following orders, no matter how bad they are," Sky said.

"So do you even have anything against the Faunus?" I asked.

"Not really, if you count the White Fang maybe, but they were a peaceful organization once; we just never knew why they became violent. Other than that no," Sky said, "I mean, I wouldn't mind being a Faunus myself, you and the other Faunus have special gifts given to you, sharper senses and abilities that everyday humans can't do, like flying for you."

"Oh, so…why are you here then?" I asked.

"I came to bring you breakfast?" Sky said sounding a bit awkward while handing me a basket, "I know it seems weird but I did ruin your morning by knocking your tray out of your hands."

"Oh…thank you," I said, "do you want some? I don't think I can finish all of it."

"Oh, thanks," Sky said, "I think it's better than eating with the others of my team."

"I guess," I said, "but I like having meals with the rest of my team. We learn more of each other; build on each other's weaknesses with our strengths. Together, we're kinda a team. Maybe except for Shawn though, he rarely wants to fight and most does when Akira almost has to threaten him. He's improving…I think."

"What do you mean by you think?" Sky asked.

"He starting to go into battles without any need to be persuaded, although he still lacks good offensive and defensive skills though," I said.

"One step at a time," Sky said, "One step at a time."

"Yeah," I said, "So, you know we're going to the Forever Fall Forest two days from now, wonder why though."

"Who knows," Sky said, "but at least we'll get some training, maybe."

"What if we counter the Nevermore or Death Stalker? I don't want to be anywhere near them," I said.

"Why not?" Sky asked.

"Even if it sounds crazy, whenever a Grimm makes sounds, and I'm near them, I could hear what their voices would be, I could understand what they say," I said.

"You're not crazy, you're just interesting," Sky said placing a firm but calm hand on my left shoulder.

"Thanks," I said smiling.

"Maybe we could study together, when we have nothing to do, I could give you the Faunus's point of view of things in history," I said, "you could help me with whatever you want."

"How about I help you break out of your shell, so then people could see you for who you are," Sky said.

"Sure," I said.

That was how we spent our Sunday afternoon, hiding in the library studying and finishing assignments. Both of us were hiding the fact we were meeting up from well…everyone. It's like Romeo and Juliet, CRDL against ASPR. Though the entire time, both of us were mostly silent, only speaking when we had to…meaning when we were confused and needed help. But other than that, I enjoyed the silence.

"Raven, what's your opinion on humans in general?" Sky asked.

"Honestly it is different each time, sometimes is where humans help us when we need it the most, other times, it's when humans attack us, calling us a lower species and weak," I said.

"I sometimes wonder if it's the humans that are the lower species to the Faunus," Sky said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

(Sky POV)

Looking at her, she had curiosity in her, but I also found something else in her, something I quite couldn't understand, in her ruby-red eyes.

"Faunus have sharper senses and better abilities compared to humans," I said, "For an Owl Faunus, if there are any, they can hear better than humans, Canine Faunus have sharper noses and ears. And Bird Faunus like you, if you are gifted with wings, you could fly. Cheetah Faunus have greater abilities with running. The possibilities with the Faunus could almost be endless."

"But with that comes pain as well," Raven said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Bird Faunus with feathers have to keep them preened, and for me, I have to extra careful with my wings so they won't break as easily," Raven said, "Faunus with fur has to keep them clean from any pests like fleas or ticks. Faunus with animal ears have it harder to deal with their sensitivity. But other than that, what I am guessing is you would rather be a Faunus than a human!"

"Err…maybe…well kinda, okay maybe just a little," I said.

"Well now you know think about it, every story has two sides, every creature has two sides to, their strengths and capabilities, and their flaws and weaknesses," Raven said.

"Hey I have an idea," I said, "when we're at Forever Fall tomorrow, let's try to meet up somehow."

"Okay," Raven said, "I should go back to my dorm room, we need our rest after all."

Just as she left, I felt something inside, I don't understand why, but why am I feeling empty? Was it because Raven left?
