Chapter 12 Nevermore Daughter
(Akira POV)
Basically we were at Forever Fall to get the red sap for one of our classes. It was normal for the most part, other than team CRDL and Jaune being somewhere else. I got a good sniff of the red sap and it smelled good.
"Don't even think about it," Yoko said, "we're suppose to collect red sap, not eat it."
"I know but it does smell sweet," I said sadly capping the jar as the others had finished.
"So now what?" Shawn asked.
"Well we could do a little training, after all Shawn you would need it the most," I said, "come on, I'll help you with offensive and defensive tactics."
(Raven POV)
She was focusing most of her attention on Shawn, but I knew well enough how sharp Akira's wolf ears were. I'd have to wait for a distraction of sorts. Just then Sky was running somewhere with another member from his team.
"Sky? What's happening?" I asked.
"Ursa," Sky said, and soon I was dragging him back to where he was.
The sweetness, it smelled divine, it just had to be a trap did it.
"I get it now," I whispered just as Jaune somehow defeated the Ursa.
"What?" Sky asked.
"It didn't mean to attack Cardin or Jaune, it was just coming because it smelled the red sap," I said chuckling a little, "it was just hungry."
"All this just to get something to eat?" Sky asked, it didn't seem like much, no matter what anyone would say.
After everything seemed okay, we decided to head back to our teams, but Sky insisted he would rather not go back to CRDL just yet. I could understand why, he left his leader alone to defend from the Ursa by himself.
"Where did you go earlier?" Akira asked holding firmly Jeweled Ventus as I came back with Sky.
"Ursa attack earlier, I had to see what was going on, Jaune is safe, he actually defeated it," I said.
"That's good for him, now if only Shawn could do the same," Akira said.
"Hey! Earlier you said I was improving!" Shawn said.
"I know, but you still haven't fought any Grimm yet," Akira said.
Dearest daughter, I have found you.
I was scared now; I remember well enough who that voice belonged to, which Grimm it had belonged to.
Why aren't you responding to me now dear Garnet, respond to me now.
"My name isn't Garnet anymore," I muttered to myself, covering my ears with my hands in hope of not having to hear him anymore.
"Raven, are you okay?" Sky asked, he was the only one who seemed to notice it.
"I…I'm fine," I said just then a Nevermore landed right in front of everyone in Team ASPR and Sky.
My dear daughter Garnet, I have found you at last.
"I am no longer your daughter, Nevermore," I said unsheathing Midnight Wing into its axe form, "and you are not my father."
"Father? Raven what are you talking about?" Akira asked.
"I already said I could understand the Grimm like second nature, like it is my semblance, but the reason why," I said looking at the Nevermore in front of us, "is because of him. He made me like this; he killed my Raven Faunus mother by having her give birth to me."
"So you're half-Grimm?" Shawn asked.
"Technically yes and no," I said advancing at Nevermore attacking it.
Just then I was attacked by the Nevermore's wing.
(Akira POV)
Raven seemed unconscious, how could the Nevermore do that to my teammate.
"You will learn to regret that!" I shouted attacking the Nevermore as well I could feel my semblance giving me the power I had to attack it.
Before I was knocked aside, feather-shaped kunais were attacking the Nevermore, two at each eye and the rest scattered at every aimed place possible.
"Thought you would need some help," Shawn said as he and Yoko advanced at the Nevermore as well.
We were fighting our hardest, Yoko lashing out at the wings, Shawn slashing at the legs and I was attacking the head. When it seemed fatally wounded enough, we all struck at one fatal spot, the neck, slicing off the head, watching the Nevermore disintegrate out of existence. When it did we went and looked to see how Raven was doing.
"Is she okay?" Yoko asked.
"She's fine, just sleeping," Sky said.
When we got back to the dorms, Raven was still asleep, but something odd changed about her, in her hair there was a faint silvery streak. When she woke up her eyes were no longer the blood-red ones we remembered, one remained the same as the other was a maroon-red color.
"What happened?" Raven asked.
"Your okay, the Nevermore is dead, but something interesting did happen," I said.
"What do you mean?" Raven asked finally looking at a mirror then sighing petting Haku, "Finally, I no longer am connected to that Nevermore who cursed me, but I can still understand the Grimm."
"So what are you really?" Yoko asked.
"I am…no I was the Nevermore Daughter," Raven said, "I was Garnet the Nevermore Daughter, but I'm no longer her anymore. I'm Raven Piercewing, the Raven Faunus and member of Team ASPR."
A/N: I know the idea of half-human/half-Grimm and/or half-Faunus/half-Grimm has already been done, but I do have an interesting idea on how it will work out for Raven.
And to Answer Gracekim1's questions, ASPR is pronounced as per. Raven's semblance is neither flight or night vision, she already has wings and can already fly but her semblance is more or less linked to being half-Grimm. Night vision is already a Faunus trait and I would assume that the Grimm would also have night vision as well seeing how a Death Stalker was in a cave and somehow knew Jaune and Phyrra's presence during their orientation in the Emerald Forest so the Grimm having night vision is a possibility.
I am excited for Volume 2 of RWBY to come out, but I might not follow the plotline exactly. I already have an idea that branches off in a different direction and I will be following that path for the story, but I will include Velvet's Team although I am uncertain whether or not to include Sun's team.
