Chapter 19 The Urge to Hunt
(Yoko POV)
Ever since the device was removed, Akira seemed a bit at ease, sometimes I wonder if it was too much. Completely questioning it one time I found her on the roofs of Beacon, sniffing the air before she was about to jump off.
"What do you think you are doing leader?" I asked having a firm grip on her wrist.
"There's a herd of elk traveling to the Silver Woods, I just have to hunt at least one," Akira said losing her seriousness. That was one thing RWBY, JNPR, ASPR and Sky noticed; she wasn't as uptight as she was when the device was still on her.
"Really, that?" I asked.
"Of course, the last time I had hunted was with my grandfather," Akira said as her wolf ears drooped a little.
"How about we ask Headmaster Ozpin about this?" I asked.
"Sure why not, at least this way we wouldn't get into trouble," Akira said walking her head, wolf ears back to their usual position, tail swaying side to side, "well, what are you waiting for, that herd won't be here forever."
"So you want to go on a hunt?" Ozpin asked.
"Yes, on a herd of elk with no weapons whatsoever," Akira said.
"And you would require assistance I assume, very well then; you will be accompanied by your team and two other teams of your own choosing," Ozpin said, "It will be an excellent learning experience."
"Would I need to get the consent of the leaders?" Akira asked.
"Of course," Ozpin said, "Who are the two teams you have in mind?"
"RWBY and JNPR, the two we trust best," Akira said.
"Of course, when you have Ruby and Jaune's consent, then you will leave on a weekend," Ozpin said.
"Of course sir," Akira said, when we left, she was practically running all over the place, "I can't believe it! I'll be hunting again! Even if it is just a day."
"That is if Ruby and Jaune agree to this," I said.
"Yeah, your right, let's go tell them at lunch," Akira said almost dragging me there herself.
(Raven POV)
"That's odd," I said as I saw Yoko and Akira just getting into the line to get lunch. It isn't that hard to miss a Wolf Faunus with silvery hair and a Fox Faunus with a red scarf and a scar.
"What is?" Jaune asked.
"Akira and Yoko are usually the first waiting for us," I said.
"So they just got in line right?" Shawn asked.
"Yep," I said, "Wonder what's running through her head this time. They both missed classes as well. Akira didn't show up at all while Yoko left early to go look for her and missed the rest of his."
"I just hope they don't mind how we got their assignments for them," Shawn said.
When they sat down at the table, most of us were still questioning their lateness. But oddly CRDL was seated at a table closer than ours than usual. It was curious to know why, until we realized what Akira had on her plate. The sausages stuffed with so many spices, that if fed to one, could possibly make a full grown Ursa cry, they were most likely what was left. She was eating them and almost seemingly unaffected by the spices.
"So, why were you late?" Ruby asked, attempting to start the conversation.
"I found her on the roof," Yoko said.
"Was she about to jump off?" Yang asked.
"Kinda, more or less attempting to sneak out," Akira said.
"Why would you even do that?" Ren asked.
"I wanted to go to the Silver Woods, a herd of elk is passing by," Akira said.
"And you would know this because?" Jaune asked.
"Because I've studied hunting trails with my grandfather, I wanted to go hunting again," Akira said, slightly sounding upset.
"Well if it's a hunt you need sign us up," Cardin said.
"Excuse me?!" Akira asked.
"You know, going on a hunt, you'll need people like Team CRDL of course," Cardin said as Sky was somewhat squirming as he didn't want to get involved in this Romeo and Juliet feud.
"Can you even hunt bare-handed, without your oh so beloved mace?" Akira asked, her voice seething with venom.
"Does it even matter?" Cardin asked.
"It does, it is how true predators hunt in the wilderness, only until they are tied down and given weapons to make it harder," Akira said biting into another piece of sausage, "wouldn't you like the challenge?"
"Don't need one, I know already I am better than you," Cardin said.
Letting out an audible laugh she took a sip of water before turning to face him, "I already know you cheated a few times for our bet to be off, no help from anyone else to achieve higher grades, too bad. I was enjoying beating you every day. But then again, you don't even know how to defend yourself without your mace. Surprised that you even left it in your locker seeing how you almost carry it everywhere."
Before Cardin could even ask, Akira elbowed him running to the other side of the cafeteria.
"Why you sneaky fox!" Cardin shouted rushing her before she dove under the tables appearing across two.
"Hey I'm over here, what's up with you slowpoke?" Akira asked.
Angered now Cardin jumped over a table just barely reaching her tail as she kicked him in several places and sliding under two more, taunting him every time. Just to the point where
Cardin was panting as Akira only smirked at him, enraging him even further.
Just at a moment, Akira appeared to be limping and fairly badly to top it all. Cardin saw it as his chance. Advancing slowly and as quietly as he could, which wasn't much at all, he made his way to the Wolf Faunus.
A few inches away, and a blow was made, Akira elbowing him in his stomach. Clever, she feigned injury for the moment. Hands forcibly on his neck as if to choke him, her eye flashed gold for a moment, giving a low growl, she turned away, showing no longer having any interest and continued her lunch.
"If you couldn't defend yourself from something like that, then you aren't suited for any hunting trips I might make," Akira said and continued eating as if nothing had happened at all.
Later in the evening JNPR and RWBY was in our dorm room as Akira closed and locked the window, odd seeing how usually, the windows were always unlocked.
