Interlude P: Unjust Hatred
(Raven POV)
No one ever looks past appearance that much; too me, no one ever looks past what they see. They always say that I shouldn't exist, no matter what, yet still, I never asked why for any matter whatsoever. They never looked past my eyes or my black-feathered wings, the paleness of my skin was from all the hiding I did either inside or anywhere that wasn't in plain sight.
What do they see in my eyes anyways? Every time I look in my reflection whenever I could, all I ever saw was myself. Were they as red as blood or as rubies? Eventually, while studying my reflection for a little while, I got myself caught and placed in a foster system designed specifically for Faunus.
"Little one, meet the nice couple who wanted to take you in until you are adopted," the one who dragged me to the house said, "Say hi to them."
I wouldn't say anything to them, they blindly accepted me; they chose this house for a reason, because they would never see my black-feathered wings or my blood-red eyes. When they acknowledged my silence the woman asked, "What is your name?"
"She doesn't have one," the woman who dragged me here said, "we are assuming this seeing how she never talks to anyone."
"We'll take her in," the man said, "and name you Rosetta."
Rosetta, that name they gave me, it was humiliating; whenever I was in class, there was always someone who would find an excuse just to call me 'Rosie Red-eyes'. The name I didn't want, the name they didn't know would be the knife at my side. They never saw it, then again they were both blind. They didn't know the truth, they thought I was a different type of Avian Faunus, they didn't see my black raven wings or of my red eyes. They didn't know of the truth.
"Are you okay?" something had asked, turning out to be a cat that resembled the Creatures of Grimm when I got a closer look at it as it nuzzled me.
"I'm fine, who are you?" I asked.
"Isn't it already obvious? I'm a Hazchat or at least what a couple Beowolves told me," it said while not questioning my ability to understand it.
"Do you have a home at least?" I asked.
"No, I don't. Could I stay with you?" it asked.
"Sure, do you have a name?" I asked.
"No, could you give me one?" it asked.
"If you want, I'll call you Haku okay?" I said, "I'm Raven, Raven Piercewing."
Yet still I always remembered that day to be the day my life got better, all because of little Haku. Those foster parents I forgot about only thought of her to be a normal cat, their blindness was a good advantage for me. I was just glad I was able to drop out of the school they forced me in and going to a combat school under the new name I gave myself when I met Haku.
But still, I won't let anyone know of my past at all no matter what. Rosetta is dead while Raven Piercewing takes her place. Out of all the wreckage I saw, what caught my eye was in the corner, Grimm blood and a sprawled out, mangled body of a tiny Creature of Grimm. Somebody might have mistaken it for being a baby Beowolf or baby Ursa or something, but that was Haku. I saw her collar still strung around the neck of her maimed body, the collar tighter than it should have been, was she killed by suffocation or by all the wounds? How could somebody do that? Did they really want to hide their crime of intrusion and destruction of property by claiming a Creature of Grimm invaded it first when it was really a pet?
Letting myself fall into silent sadness I saw six tears on the floor. ASPR, Faunus, murder, confusion, despair and lost. Other than my Nevermore father, Haku was the last being in existence that was my family. As of this day, Team ASPR is my only family now; they know of my secret, they were there to comfort me when I needed it. But now, I have one less being to be there for me as outside of the school grounds and in the Emerald Forest, I heard the faint cries of the other Grimm, beckoning for me to join their side.
