Chapter 23 Wolf Senses
(Akira POV)
I couldn't believe what had happened to our room, someone had broken into our lockers as well, the same people who had destroyed our room. My senses were toying with me maybe, but I caught an all too familiar scent I couldn't forget easily. Team CRDL's scent was the strongest by far in the room.
"I think I know who did this," I said turning to face the rest of the team, "the one who did all of this."
"Elaborate please, but I have a hunch you are going to be right though," Shawn said.
"Team CRDL, although I can't catch Sky's scent that much," I said, "I'm going to find them and when I do, I'm going to make him regret ever doing this."
We found them in the cafeteria as usual, messing with Velvet again as her team was no one in sight yet.
"Cardin Winchester, you are going to pay," I said as I reached them.
"Back up a bit, what are you accusing me for again?" Cardin asked.
"Breaking into Team ASPR's dorm room while they were away and destroying anything and everything we held dear," I said as whispers began to replace the cafeteria's usual ambiance.
"Miss Fang this is highly unlike you," Ms. Goodwitch said, "He claimed to have saved the school from one of the escaped Grimm captives in Professor Port's classroom."
"Did you ask him to check if any of them were missing Ms. Goodwitch?" I asked.
"Yes and a Beowolf was missing," she responded.
"Where exactly did you find the body of the Beowolf anyways?" I asked, "Just out of curiosity as I'm trying to catch up here."
"They never said where the Beowolf was, but is it true someone broke into your dorm room?" she asked.
"Yes, someone did," I said.
"I see then," she said, "Seth Estelle, are you here at the moment?"
"Yes Miss Goodwitch," he said coming up, an auburn haired Wolf Faunus with green eyes and wolf ears, wearing the school uniform oddly enough and probably a year or two higher.
"Could you come with me and Miss Fang to her team's dorm room to see if you could sniff out the culprit if her statement is true?"
"Of course," Seth said then looked at me with my confused face, "I'm often the one she asks to see whenever something like this is to occur ever since I was a first year like you."
"I understand," I said then found my team, "Just make sure they don't get away. I want to know the reason why they did it afterwards."
(Glynda POV)
When we got to Miss Fang's room we were shocked when it was indeed a mess. Mr. Estelle had already gotten to work to find out who was behind them as the rest of her team was restraining Team CRDL from getting away.
"Whoa what happened here?" Miss Xiao Long had asked as Teams RWBY and JNPR came out of their rooms shocked to see what had happened to their friend's room.
"Don't get involved just yet," Miss Fang said.
When Mr. Estelle had finished he came out of the room with a mangled Grimm in his hands.
"Well, what Akira said was right, it was Cardin Winchester and his team, and I did find a body of a dead Grimm, only thing is, it's not a Beowolf as they said it was," Seth said.
"That's because it's Haku, a Hazchat" Miss Piercewing said as tears streamed down her cheeks from her eyes, "and after all I've been through, Haku was killed and I didn't even know about it."
"Is there any reason for this Grimm's existence inside the dorm room?" Mr. Estelle asked.
"She may have seemed to be a pet, but she's been my best friend before I came to Beacon," Miss Piercewing said.
"Well then, was there any other sort of damage other than the lost of…Haku?" I asked.
"Their weapons and armor seemed to be useless now in the condition it's in, I think it would be wise to check to see if their lockers have been sabotaged, other than that, all other belongings seemed to have been destroyed to some level as well as schoolwork being missing," Seth said holding up a notebook, "I found a few of the pages ripped out of this one as well as others."
"None of us rip out any pages from our notebooks. If it was something we had to turn in, we used loose-leaf paper," Miss Fang said.
"I see now, thank you Mr. Estelle," I said, "Now then, I will inform Professor Ozpin about this incident. Until he comes up with the correct punishment, Miss Piercewing, I believe you could bury…Haku somewhere as long as it isn't in the way and I will conduct a search of the CRDL dorm room to find the missing pages of those notebooks you mentioned of. As for the lockers, I will have Professor Indium look at them later if she has the time when she gets back. Other than that, you may return to your usual activities."
(Akira POV)
"Professor Indium?" I asked after CRDL ran off somewhere by being chased by Ren and Nora as the latter was attempting to catch Cardin to break his legs while the former was trying to stop her.
"She teaches armory and weapons to any students interested, she's also the one to go to with locker issues sometimes," Seth said.
"I remember her; she helped me out at the beginning of the year," Jaune said.
"Were you the one who was found in their own locker on the other side of the Emerald Forest?" Seth asked.
"You don't have to remind me," Jaune said.
"Do you think we could see her if we can reforge our weapons and armor?" Yoko asked.
"She's been out for a while, so I'm not that certain if you could," Seth said.
"Do you know when she'll be back then?" Shawn asked.
"You should ask my partner that," Seth said, "Luna Silver, she's a human but her semblance is clairvoyance-based, she mostly gets random flashes of visions of future attacks in battle which is useful but she can also focus on a single person to figure out where they are, when they're coming, stuff like that. She's nice once you get to know her."
"Oh, that kinda makes sense, I think," Raven said.
"So who else is on your team?" I asked.
"Another human/Faunus partnership," Seth said, "Sherri Blitz, a Harpy Eagle Faunus who just loves to dive into a battle no matter what you say, she has wings somehow talons."
"So then she would be someone who would normally fly often to avoid the ground in case if there is anything that she shouldn't step on so she could use the talons in battle if she's barefoot then right?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah she has bindings wrapped around her feet to protect them when she does walk though, but our leader is Glacier Remorse," Seth said, "He's an okay guy who appreciates the Faunus instead of thinking their beneath him."
"So your Team RSSL then, right?" Yoko asked, "The one who took down the Nevermore as big as the one Team RWBY took down in their initiation?"
"Yes, but Team RWBY was more tactical about taking it down," Seth said chuckling, "Glacier and I were basically hacking away at it as Sherri was continuously soaring to as high as she could just so she could dive right at it and attack it with her spear while Luna was standing back a bit while warning us of what would happen next."
"Should you be heading back though?" Shawn asked.
"I should, just saying, when the tournament comes and we're up against each other, just know I won't hold back," Seth said.
"Neither will I," I said as he nodded in agreement and left.
"What was all that about?" Shawn asked.
"It's not much really, but if we ever fight Team RSSL, I'm going to be the one who will fight Seth no matter what," I said, "So, I was thinking we should ask Professor Ozpin on when Professor Indium returns, that way then we could get our weapons and armor reforged to how it was before."
"Um…Akira, about that," Shawn started.
"What is it?" I asked.
"I don't want to reforge Featherblade," Shawn said, "I know, I'll come up that is more suited for me, but Featherblade was my father's sword, forced it upon me like it was some sort of treasured heirloom when all I ever saw was a regular weapon. I just want to forge something that is my own."
"That does make sense," I said walking into the still destroyed room picking up the fragments of the twin gems that once served to be a part of the grappling device on Ventus, "I kind of want to forge something to prove I have broken free of the current White Fang."
"Well it seems like it's settled then, we're making new weapons for ourselves," Yoko said, "Let's start drawing up sketches and schematics."
"Wait, where's Raven?" Shawn asked as the only other Avian Faunus in our team had strangely disappeared.
(Raven POV)
"I'm sorry about Haku," Sky said keeping his distance from me as I was hiding the jar filled with Haku's ashes when her body was burned with camellias and belladonna flowers in a hole underneath the trunk of a willow tree.
"I know it wasn't your fault," I said as the tears continued their unyielding path down my cheeks, "You were following orders."
