"Hey have you guys seen BB? I can't find him anywhere." Cyborg walked into the main room where Robin and Starfire sat watching a movie.
"Not since yesterday. Was he not in his room?" Robin asked as he moved his arm from around Starfire so he could face Cyborg.
"I just checked. He wasn't in there." Replied Cyborg.
"Perhaps our friend Beast Boy is out for pizza." Said Starfire as she too, turned around.
Cyborg scratched his head, "I don't know. He was acting pretty strange yesterday."
"Well Beast Boy acting strange isn't really that strange." Replied Robin.
"Ya but I found him in Ravens room the other day and it looked like he had a book with him."
"Ok now that is strange. I didn't think Beast Boy read anything other than a menu." Said Robin.
"Could it be a new interest, perhaps?" asked Starfire.
"I don't think so Star." Said Robin.
Cyborg sighed, "Well whatever is going on, I hope he is alright."
Robin gave a sad look, "Don't worry Cyborg. Beast Boy can handle himself. Let's give him till tomorrow and if he doesn't turn up then we'll go look for him."
Meanwhile...
"IT'S SOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOT!" Whined Beast Boy.
He had transformed into a camel and was now trudging through the endless sand.
'Why'd it have to be the desert?' he thought to himself.
The heat of the day was burning down on his back and he felt like he was ready to drop out of exhaustion. Even after 5 hours of walking he still hadn't found anything that would help him find Raven.
Beast Boy let out another groan.
He was going to die here.
"Hello there. You must be lost."
"Huh?" Beast Boy transformed back and looked around till he saw a little girl with long green hair, behind him.
"Where are you headed mister?" the little girl asked.
"H-How...Where...What?" Beast Boy looked at the little girl shocked.
"We have a well back at home." Said the little girl.
"Water?"
"Yes lots of it!" the little girl sad happily, "Come. I'll show you."
The little girl waved for him to follow before disappearing behind a sand dune.
"Hey wait up!" Beast Boy quickly transformed chased after her.
He ran up the side of the dune until he reached the top, but when he got there, the girl was gone.
"What the-!? I could've sworn she just ran this way!" He yelled in frustration.
"Stupid Desert." He mumbled as he plopped down on his butt.
BANG!
"OW!" Beast Boy jumped back up in the air when he hit something hard underneath him.
"What is this!?"
He kicked the ground only to have a metal clank as he stubbed his toe.
"AHH! OWOWOWOWOWO!" He yelled as he jumped around yet again.
"Hehehe your funny mister."
Beast Boy turned around and saw the little girl again.
"You-!"
"Hold on sir. We are on the elevator right now."
"Elevator!? What are you-..." He was cut off by the sound of metal rising out of the sand.
"What is this?"
The metal started as wires but as they rose, they began to intertwine and weave together, trapping him in a metal box.
"Hold on sir." The little girl said with a grin.
She was holding on to a handle on the wall grinning at him.
He slowly walked over to grab a handle but as soon as he touched it, the ground moved and he was sent flying up to the top of the box.
The little girl giggled, "I warned you sir."
Beast Boys eyes began to water and drool was hanging out of his mouth as the high speed pinned him to the top.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" Beast Boy closed his eyes right as the 'elevator' slammed to a halt and dropped him to the floor.
The little girl laughed, "I like you Mister. You're funny."
Beast Boy got up groggily and barely had time to gather himself before he was dragged through a maze of tunnels underground.
"Where are we going?" He asked the little girl.
"To the sun man." She said with a grin.
"Who?" Beast Boy asked as he was practically dragged down the tunnel.
"You'll see." The little girl said happily.
A few minutes later the tunnel opened up to a large opening and the little girl released his hand.
"This way." She told him as she took off running.
Beast Boy looked around at the mud houses around him. People stood outside of them talking as the children played, without even glancing at him.
"Sun man! Sun man!" Beast Boy turned around to see the little girl jump into the arms of a big old man.
She whispered in his ear and Beast Boy listened as the old man laughed.
"Really? Looks as if I should meet this friend then." He said with a booming voice.
Beast Boy walked over, gulping as he looked up at the large man. He was HUGE!
"Um uh...Hello...sir..." he stuttered.
"HAHAHA Looks like the cat got your tongue." The man laughed.
Beast Boy widened his eyes before pulling out his tongue and holding it out far enough for him to see.
Letting out a sigh of relief he let it go and smiled up at the man, "Nope! Still there!"
The little girl still in the man's arms burst out laughing with the man chuckling as well.
"I see that." The man chuckled, "So now that we are sure we haven't lost anything important, the names Smith." He said holding out one massive hand while holding the girl with the other.
"They call me Beast Boy." he said.
"So Beast Boy, What brings you all the way out here? Are you lost or traveling?" Smith asked him.
"Um actually I'm looking for a friend." Beast Boy told him, "She went missing months ago and we assumed she was dead, but I found out that we may have been wrong."
"Ah." Smith said thinking, "We haven't had any new people come by lately, except you of course."
"Oh." Beast Boy frowned.
"But around... I don't know...a month? 2 months ago? I'm not sure, but there was this girl who came by looking pretty beat up. She wore dark clothing and called herself...uh...Rachel? Nah that's not it...um...Rae...Ra...Ramona? No...what was it?..."
"Raven?"
"Yes! That's it!" The man seemed proud to remember but Beast Boy was already jumping around excited.
"That's it! That's her! Where was she going!? Did she say!?" Beast Boy asked frantically.
"Wo wo little green man. Calm down. I tell you everything but why don't we go inside my house. It gets very cold at night, even underground." Smith replied.
"Yes mister. Come on. We can play inside." The little girl said happily as she jump down from the man's arms and pulled Beast Boy into a house.
"Uhhhh." Beast Boy looked around. Everything was made of dirt and rags. There was a dirt sofa with cloth spread over it and a counter that was also made of dirt. The only furniture found in the 2 room home was a small table that stood a few inches above ground and 2 cots on the floor in a separate area.
"Nice...home..." Beast Boy said.
"Ya it isn't much, but it's what we call home." said Smith.
"Now, why don't we sit down and eat before we have our discussion." He said.
Beast Boy nodded his head in agreement as his stomach let out a long growl.
Smith laughed, "Alright then, I'll go get some food."
A few minutes later he walked back in with a good bit of food and handed it to Beast Boy and the girl.
Beast Boy eagerly ate it all except the meat and let out a burp of relief.
"Man that was good." He said.
The little girl giggled, "Mister, do you not eat meat too?"
"Huh?" Beast Boy looked at the girl an noticed that she had left her meat aside as well.
"She doesn't like death." Smith said, "So she refuses to eat meat."
"Oh." Beast Boy looked down at the little girl and smiled, "So what's your name?" he asked her.
The little girls face got real still and she no longer smiled.
Beast Boy became worried and was about to speak when Smith shook his head.
"Hey, why don't you go get a game for us to play?" Smith asked the little girl.
Suddenly her head popped up and she was smiling again.
"Ok!" she said happily skipping off.
Beast Boy looked at Smith confused.
"She won't tell anyone her name. We don't know if she is keeping it a secret or if she knows it or not. We all just call her Sunshine."
"Sunshine?"
"Yes. She has a way of making everyone happier even when she is sad." he told him.
"I like it." Beast Boy said with a smile.
"I found one!" Sunshine came running into the room with a board game and plopped it down on the table.
"Mister, will you play too?" She happily asked.
"What is it?" Beast Boy asked.
"It's a game!" said Sunshine.
"But where is the controllers? And the TV?" asked Beast Boy.
The little girl laughed, "There is no such thing silly."
"What!?"
Me: Well there is your next chapter guys. Hopefully you enjoyed it. Soccer season is starting soon so I probably won't be able to update fast.
Beast Boy: WHAT!?
Sunshine: *pulls shirt* Miss, when will you update again?
Me: I'm not sure honey, hopefully it'll be real soon though.
Sunshine: *smiles brightly* OK!
Beast Boy: BUT THERE ARE NO GAMES! *cries at my feet*
Me: Yes there are. Just because there isn't a giant screen doesn't mean there are no games.
Beast Boy: *transforms into cute kitten with big eye*
Me: oh no. Not the look! *covers face* DONT LOOK IN THE EYES DONT LOOK IN THE EYES! *Peeks*
Beast Boy: *tilts head*
Me: NOOOOOOO! *runs for dear life*
Sunshine: *laughs* You're funny.
