"It's hoooot."

"L, the A/C's at 65. I'm not turning it down anymore."

"You hate me, don't you, Raito-kun? I haven't done anything to you. First, you deny me my cake, and now you want me to sweat to death. What about the twins? You don't care about them, either. You're being so mean."

Raito growled, raking a hand down his face. Two months had passed since they (only Raito, really, L already knew) found out exactly how many babies they were having. Plural. And thank to L's genetics, they were going to be twins. He had grown substantially, obviously because he was carrying two growing humans inside him. But it seemed like the bigger he got, the whinier he got. It was almost like being with an actual woman, and it irritated him. He needed a disgusting cake with everything known to man on it, he needed the house to be below freezing, and he needed Raito to entertain him every six hours. It was almost like damn clockwork. Horny, needy son of a bitch.

"I don't hate you, Ryuuzaki." He said, his eye twitching slightly. "I'm not going to allow myself to get a cold because of your stupid hot flashes. If you're hot, go stand by the freezer."

"So mean." L pouted, looking up at him. He was lounging on the couch, the TV acting as quiet background. Watari was out getting food for L, and BB was in his own home. Raito was envious of him... At least he could get away from THIS. He almost asked if he could go with him the last time he left, but his threat from two months ago still stayed in his mind. That was only if he hurt his twin, but... still. He wasn't prone to enjoy the sole company of cannibals.

He began to wonder what his real name was and how he could make him die when he got the Death Note again, without L suspecting anything, when he heard a car door slam. Watari was back. Good. Maybe he could wait hand and foot on the annoying pregnant man. They waited a few moments for the door to open, but it was taking the old man a long time to get the few bags of groceries out of the car.

L frowned, tilting his head, meeting Raito's equally curious gaze, when they heard a shout from outside. He got up quicker than Raito thought possible for a man with a full belly, and swung the door open, Raito close behind him. They saw him on the ground, clutching at his chest. L's eyes became impossibly wide and he darted over to him, crouching down beside him. His face was pale and sweaty, his eyes telling him he was in pain. His breathing was shallow, looking up at L pleadingly, asking for some kind of help.

A voice in the back of L's mind told him it was too late, and to have any kind of hope was a waste of time.

But he had to try.

L quickly took his phone out, dialing 119*. The conversation was short, and he barely remembered what he said. He knew that he gave he and Watari's fake names, and told them the older man was having a heart attack. By the time he got off the phone, Watari's eyes were sliding shut. "No... No! Watari, stay with me. Please!" He took the man's hand, the back of his eyes burning. "Open your eyes... Watari... I still need you." He croaked.

Raito watched silently, slightly in shock. He looked around, expecting to see Ryuk somewhere nearby, cackling softly with that red, malicious glimmer in his wide eyes. He didn't see him, but he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Selfishly, he thought for a moment that L would turn on him any second and accuse him of killing his caretaker, the man that he'd known for so long. He waited for it - waited for the attack of angry words and possibly a threat to end his life. But even as he heard the shrill whine of sirens coming closer, that attack didn't come.

Yet.

L watched as the ambulance took the still body of Quillish Whammy away, his eyes glazed over in sadness. BB would be there very soon. He didn't even need to call him over. There were many times in their childhood that he would come running, simply because he felt something was wrong, that he felt L's inner pain. He swallowed thickly, realizing with very dry humor that the only person he wanted to run to at this time was a killer... A man forced into eating human flesh, his mind warped and addicted to the taste.

He heard a voice behind him and his hand twitched.

"L..."

He had forgotten about the younger man standing near the doorway, nearly forgotten about him being there at all. He tilted his chin up, a sudden rush of anger, and a feeling of absolute betrayal rushing through him. How could that pathetic, sadistic, evil bastard -

He slowly turned around, his black eyes seeming even darker than usual as he placed his enraged gaze on the man barely out of his teens.

Raito wasn't stupid, and that was probably the only thing that saved him from being attacked by a hormonal, emotional, very pissed off detective. He turned quickly and went inside, slamming the door and locking it right as L started to approach. The detective pounded against the door, calling out to his lover. "LIGHT! You open this door right now! When I get my hands on you-" His speech became faster, and in a language that Raito didn't understand. Was that... Russian?

He pressed his entire body against the door in case L somehow got the door open. He'd left the key inside (Thank you, God, Raito thought) and he couldn't open it unless he could pick the lock. Which L probably already knew how to do, of course.

He suddenly went quiet, hearing BB's voice. "Chto ne tak?"

L didn't turn around when he heard his brother's voice, asking him what was wrong, his forehead leaning against the door. He took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down enough to keep from pushing his anger onto his twin. He slowly turned around to look at him, his usual smirk gone from his face, eyebrows furrowed, looking worried. "Quillish..." He whispered, feeling another wave of emotion come over him.

BB waited for him to finish, but when the sentence never came, he assumed what he knew what was going to happen soon enough. He had seen it, only a few days ago, the numbers counting down rather quickly. He hadn't told L because he knew he wouldn't take it well, and he didn't like hearing of his brother's unusual... talent. He walked over to him, wrapping his arms around him, letting L lean against him. For as long as he could remember, L always followed Watari around like a lost little puppy. BB was the one to always go off and try to make trouble, even as a child, but L had looked up to him like a father... A being that neither of them could remember.

"I'm sorry." He said at last, not knowing what else to say. "Do you want me to stay?" He felt L nod against him, quiet, but his shoulders were shaking. BB reached around him to turn the knob, but found it locked. The scoffed. Like that would keep him out. He let go of his brother and reached into his pocket, pulling out two straight paper clips. He had them "just in case". Well, that and he had his own little "business" on the side. Not that he would ever tell L, but he had to make a living somehow.

He had it unlocked in seconds and slammed his shoulder against the door as he turned the knob, Raito falling over and landing on his rear hard. The ex-cannibal swung open the door, looking down at Raito, a mean little smile on the twin's face. "What were you doing, hiding in here, Raito?" He asked casually. "That may look suspicious to some people."

"I-it wasn't me!" He said almost immediately.

"They all say that." BB pointed out. He didn't think it was Raito at all, but he did love giving him a hard time, especially when L was shooting poisonous daggers with his eyes at the younger man.

Raito slowly stood up. "Look, I've been with him the whole time! Even if I WAS Kira - which I've been trying to tell you this whole time that I'm not! - I wouldn't have killed anyone close to L with the state he's in." He stood a hesitant, careful step forward. "L... You have to believe me. I would never hurt someone you cared about." He waited, holding his breath. If L didn't believe him, where would he go? He considered crawling back to his father, using his charm to sway him back to his side, but -

"Okay."

Raito blinked a few times. "O... okay?"

L gently pushed past BB, and made his way for the stairs. Raito reached out to touch him, to try to talk to him and comfort him, but L slapped his hand away. "You don't get to touch me right now." He hissed, making his way to the bedroom.

Raito and BB heard the door slam, and the younger of the two looked to the criminal awkwardly.

"So..." BB said, grinning in a sort of cocky way. "Y'like jam?"

119 is the emergency number in Japan to call for an ambulance, just in case you were wondering.

I know this chapter was kind of short, and took a weird turn. I had debated on getting rid of Watari for a while, and last time I thought about it, I wasn't going to, because how adorable would it be for the chibi L's to have weekends with grandpa? XD Buuut... It just turned out that way.

Tell me what you think, because reviews inspire me to write. Til next time~
