The real topaz appears and Jasper of all people gets character development.
The new gem smiled before raising his hand, Diamond began slidding towards him from his position next to Steven. Steven grabbed Diamond and pulled trying to keep him away but False diamond raised his other hand lifting Steven into the air and flinging him. Garnet caught him as Diamond landed at Fake Diamond's feet and was stomped on grinding his body inot the sand. "Jasper, allow me to introduce you to the father of our race Blue diamond, or as you know him on homeworld the one true precursor." Everyone froze as diamond struggled to rise but was forced down the foot keeping him there releasing a pulse of magic. "Ho-how do you know about tha-at you were j-just created." False Topaz smiled. "True but with your gemstone, unlike with Rose you didn't have time to keep information and power away from me, i have all your powers and your knowledge, i know any, and everything."
Pearl pulled out her spear and held it at the ready. "What does he mean, what did you do to Rose?!" He laughed as cracks began to form in Diamond's chest. "Didn't you wonder why his gemstone had a hole in it, that's why." False topaz pointed towards Steven's gem. "They tore out his Precursor core and made it into a powerful gem, they made it into Rose Quartz." Steven tried not to flinch as the others looked shocked. "You knew?!" Apperantly Amethyst saw his lack of reaction. "Yes Diamond told me last week." False Topaz smiled. "Don't feel to bad, it was Steven's right to know. So want to tell us the full story or should i go on ahead?" Diamond grit his teeth but since he couldn't do much else he had to stall for time. "Seven billion year ago the first of out race was created by aliens that learned the ways of magic we were made to be helpers and assistants, however like humans so long ago the species that created us were tribes, groups of seperated people. In time others tried to create something like us but it was like trying to build something with only half the blueprints in mind."
"The gems they created were mindless and feral and in time we were forced to become warriors to protect our creators. It was all for naught as soon they were all wiped out only the precursors and the feral gems left. One day when i was away from my companions i was attacked by a feral gem a very powrful one, it broke off a piece of my gemstone before i managed to shatter its. The fragments landed on my fragment and merged somehow our energies fusing and mixing creating something similar yet different, the first of the gems." Diamond breathed hard even though he didn't need to, having so little power was as exhausting as it should be. "She was odd but with no other choice i took her back with me. She became scared at blindly attacked me, my fellow precursors attacked her fearing she was a feral gem but i stopped them, they thought me crazy but Black Diamond stood up for me." Diamond looked at the sand of to the side sadly feeling tears build, it still hurt.
"Our leader, our king, wanted her destroyed i stood up for her fought the king. A bBue Diamond against a Hope Diamond the thought was absurd to them, but obviously i'm no ordinary Blue so i won and so the quest began to make more gems, with our ever growing numbers and greater diversity of soldiers the ferals were driven to destruction, but they left a taint inside the gems, in time some would lose sentience become unstable, feral once more." Garnet narrowed her eyes thinking of the monsters they fought. "Corrupted gems." Diamond nodded. "We had some kind of cure for them some way to help them but that memory was taken with my core i can't remember how to save them." Diamond felt his strength returning but couldn't really do much now he didn't have enough to mode change. "In time gems became restless they wanted to make more but we refused. So they had us destroyed, i escaped but not before watching the precursors and gems that supported me and cared for me destroyed. My friends, my love, my first and greatest creation, Zircon she fought til the end but you know how that ends."
Diamond glared at the gem above him angrily. "Happy now?!" False Topaz smiled cheekily. "Its a good story unfortunately i know all i wanted to so you can die now." Diamond smashed further into the ground held down by increased gravity as he charged an energy blast. "No!" Steven dashed forward tossing his shield. "To late." An explosion of energy engulfed Diamond before Steven's shield smashed into the side of Fake Topaz's head making him end the blast. "Big mistake!" He blasted at Steven only for Diamond to appear next to him blocking the blast with his body. "No way!" Diamond stood up uncovering Steven smirking his gemstone having grown going from the one point up top to five. "It healed him?" Diamond smiled before grabbing Steven and decreasing gravity to jump back several meters lifting sand into the air before collapsing it and forming small floating balls.
"not that easy!" Jasper seemed to snap out of what ever stupor Diamond's story had put her in before summoning her helmet. "You're not getting away!" Diamond smiled shooting a ball at Jasper that accelarated so fast it started to burn impacting her chest and scorching her before a second slammed through her leaving a hole in its wake. Jasper's gem form poofed leaving behind her gem which landed in the sand, unseen a metal tentacle shot out and retreived it before anyone noticed it there. "You could do that the whole time?!" Amethyst looked at him like he was crazy stomping her foot angrily. "Why didn't you open with that!?" Daimobd shrugged. "I didn't want to kill her." False Diamond nodded. "Given how easily he handled her you can see Precursors are much more powerful than regular and even most fusion gems but that brings up a problem. Most Precursors had much nore raw power than Blue, and far less precision."
"They could never bring themselves to hurt the gems so they never used their full power, they loved what they'd created and couldn't bare the thought to see it destroyed why don't you think Blue hadn't simply killed Rose and taken his core back?" Diamond scoffed the idea of doing so disgusted him. "Now then i guess i'll deal with you." He started walking forward aiming for Pearl she thrusted her spear forward but he caughted and puched her in the side of the head sending her flying. Amethyst shot her whip out and lashed his arm but he grabbed it before pulling sending her flying at him, and he grabbed her by her shirt before tossing her over his shoulder increasing gravity to slam and pin her to the ground. "I may not be as strong as you once were but with this core my powers are much less restricted." Diamond shot his stones at him but he grudgingly admitted her was right, with out his core he didn't have a fraction of his real power.
False Topaz batted them aside before turning his attention to Garnet, the last Crystal gem standing. "Mode change! Hope diamond!" Diamond focussed as much power as he could without destroying himself before lopping it at Garnet hoping to give her an edge. "Garnet catch!" He was worried she wouldn't trust him but she did grabbing the huge energy ball with her unguarded hands and feeling it absorb into her gems. Garnets gems glowed columns of light shooting out into space they were so powerful. False Topaz grunted in worry for a second. "I probably shouldn't have let you do that." Garnet summoned her Gautlets before launching them and hitting False Topaz sending him flying back. He smacked into the robots leg denting it and bounced off it before landing on his face as Garnet walked towards him arms reforming as False Topaz got to his feet before a barrier appeared around him.
"Alright lets try that again." They charged before trading blows mostly deflecting each others hits as they fought, Garnet's future vision versus False Topaz's reflexes and combat instinct. Diamond fell to the ground to tired to move as his magic sight let him keep track through Garnet, Steven tried to chech on Pearl and Amethyst at his urging and had managed to move Pearl over to them but couldn't budge Amethyst. Diamond felt a pit in his chest cold fear gripping him. If False Topaz could split his attention so easily why was he having such trouble? Then it hit him, he was growing stronger. He kicked Garnet in the stomach sending her flying back before she launched her right fist at him and waited for it to grow back. False Diamond didn't wait however and ran towards her, however Garnet focussed before shooting a blast of lightning at him which his barrier defected.
"This has been fun but you're making it to easy." Garnet charged hitting the barrier as fast as she could trying to break it. "You call that power?! I've seen true power i'm made of true power! You're just an ant to crush beneath my-" the rest was stopped when Garnet shattered his barrier, making him smirk. "How about that." Diamond could swear he felt False Topaz's power drop slightly with every blow Garnet landed but he couldn't fathom why, his memory was slightly foggy but he could feel his mind grasping at the answer. Garnet reared back her fist hoping to end it by charging all her power into a single strike but then False Topaz caught it! Even Garnet couldn't stop the blatant shock on her face before False Topaz blasted her in the chest leaving her intact but weakened. "This was fun but we have to go." He lifted her up grabbing Amethyst and Pearl as well leaving Steven with an exhausted and still injured Daimond on the ground.
He smiled as he yanked open the head of the robot and dumped his defeated foes inside. "Are you kidding me?! Do you know how long it took me to fix all of this?!" Fake Topaz shrugged before pointing at the defeated Crystal gems. "Put them in holding cells down in floor c it has signs so you wont get lost." He was gone by the time she was done talking and quick to finish his work Jasper sat to the side deep in thought about something while Peridot looked down at Steven who was helping Diamond to his feet. "What do we do about them?" Jasper didn't answer her but Fake Diamond came back seeing the screen. "On one hand the precusors to dangerous, he's a variable. And the half gem Steven, to powerful to let live, however the gems we have captive are more likely to fight us if they found out he was dead so we need to eliminate him as well as obtain some leverage."
Fake diamond smiled before grabbing Peridot's gem. "What are you AHHHHHHHHHH!" Her scream of pain broke Jasper out of her stupor again as Peridot fell back being caught by Jasper. "What did you do?!" Fake diamond looked at her blankly. "What do you care?" He ignored her as he imputed controls into the machine as he reached out with hiis gravity powers. As metal tentacles spread out into beach city a massive slab of stone flew high into the air.
Steven got Diamond to his feet as the tentacles began retracting. "Lars Saddy!" Everyone Steven knew everyone in beach city was being taken but why. "Dad?! Connie?!" Connie screamed as Greg tried to break free. "Steven help us!" Steven cupped his hands yelling. "Don't worry Daimond and i'll save you!" A whistling sound made Diamond pause before diving on top pf Steven right before a huge chuck of rock slammed into them sending dust everywhere. "STEVEN!" Connie just barely made out a figure dragging another out from underneath the rock that had tried to crush them. They were alive!
False diamond smirked felling all the gem energy in the area fade. "Well that takes care of that." Jasper held the weakened Peridot in her arms glaring a hole in his back. "What do we need these things for?" False Topaz pointed to all the humans he rounded up as panels opened and dropped them into the robot. "Like i said the Crystal gems are likely to try something if we leave them be especially now that Steven's dead, but they seem to care about these things, these humans, so with them here they wont do a thing, by the way are you going to put her down?" Jasper looked at Peridot who was still out but not dispelled. "No." False Topaz smiled. "Steven told Daimond about how you treated her but as is, it's second hand knowledge at best, but i'm curious why the sudden compassion?" Jasper looked at him a glare threatening violence.
"you got somethin to say to me! Huh!" Fake diamond shrugged. "Not really, just noticing something interesting."
When Steven awoke to a rush of cold water as he was dunked in a fountain, he immediately swam to the surface only to see Diamond, or at least he thought it was Diamond. The orange being had joints that looked like spheres and small legs that seemed to link together, atop its head was a giant hexagonal cylinder and it shoulders had pyramids on it. This must have been Diamond's orange diamond form. Steven looked around to see he was in his mothers spring and ralozed he mist have gotten hurt by whatever hit him earlier and had knocked him out. He noticed a little bit of blood but he felt fine so he must have healed. He grabbed Diamond and di his best to drag him onto the water with him. He didn't know if his mothers healing tears would work on a precursor but even if they didn't it's not like Diamond would drown anyway.
A glow happened before Diamond raised his head above the water and changed back to normal. "Thanks Steven, it was a good thing you told me about this place else we might have been down for the count much longer." He climbed out and helped Steven out. before rubbing his face in frustration "We cant do this." Diamond stopped Steven from talking by raising his hand. "I dont know how we can do it i wanna hope there's some way to win but come on! He's stronger than use he has my powers with none of my weaknesses, even a powered up Garnet couldn't hurt him! Then there's Jasper Peridot and her army of robots! And he has everyone! Connie Greg Lars Saddy, EVERYONE!" Diamond thrashed in frustration. "How do the two of us fight him?!" Diamond sat down on a rock holding his head in his hands. Steven put his hand on his shoulder staring at him intently before glowing and aging, an adult Steven looked down at Diamond who raised his head to look him in the eyes.
"No, no! He's not ready." Steven squeezed his shoulder. "The gems said the same about me and you proved them wrong now come on let him prove you wrong." Diamond got up before nodding and mode changing into Hope Diamond. "Lets do it!"
Thunderous steps sounded as the robot made its way to an unknown location, well unknown to Jasper. False Diamond had put it on auto pilot and then left for, places she didn't really bother to ask. She looked down at the still unmoving gem in her arms and begrudgingly she admitted she owed her, Jasper had cursed the advancement of gem kind in the past thousands of years no one was a warrior anymore, a fighter who could give her a challenge, to her weaklings all of them Peridot especially. However Peridot found her struggling to break out of her fusion she seperated them, she'd freed Jasper a weakling would have left her she'd have laughed and left but she didn't, as much as she hated it Peridot had her respect, she wouldn't and couldn't have done the same and that made Peridot stronger than her. "Thank you." And just to prove her weakness she couldn't say it to Peridot's face.
Fake Topaz smiled as he rounded up the animals around him moving them all to the empty holding cells. Skimming through Blue's memories had been an 'experience' but there was one thing going thtough his brain that he couldn't ignore, conversion. "Lets get to work."
You may notice i kept calling the new gem Fake/false Diamond/topaz well theres a reason for that. I haven't really decided who's counterpart he is on one hand he's a dan phantom of Diamond and on the other hes a phycho ranger to Topaz so i have trouble pinning him down because i dont want him to be both despite that being what he'd shaping up to be.
